World Council of Churches joins enviros to push UN on ‘climate refugees’

The groups are going to send postcards to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon by December 10th to try to persuade the UN to do something to save the people affected by weather.   Isn’t that a cause we should all get behind? Weather affects us all!

Here is the news at AllAfrica:

In order to build on its work for the protection of climate refugees, the World Council of Churches (WCC) joins an innovative campaign “Postcards from the Frontlines” aiming to achieve urgently needed recognition and protection for climate refugees around the world.

According to reports millions of people were forced from their homes due to weather-related events in the year 2012 alone.

Initiated by the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) in collaboration with ByPost, the “Postcards from the Frontlines” campaign allows people to send a free postcard from phone or desktop, which will arrive as a real physical postcard at the United Nations secretary-general’s office in New York, calling for action on climate refugees. The project aims to reach 100,000 postcards by Human Rights Day, 10 December, when a public response will be sought from the UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon.

The campaign was launched on 24 September.

A couple of years ago there was quite a ruckus among the Leftwing groups over the use of the word “refugee” when discussing global warming.  One side of the argument was that the word “refugee” should be reserved for those who are persecuted and essentially come under the aegis of the 1951 Refugee Convention.  They had their feathers ruffled by the climate refugee pushers.  I don’t know if they have worked out their differences, but the phrase ‘climate refugee’ seems to be in common use now.   See our whole category on ‘climate refugees’ to learn more about the squabble.

By the way, we know of one off-shoot of the World Council of Churches resettling regular refugees and that is the Virginia Council of Churches which is almost completely funded by you, the taxpayer.

World Council of Churches a front for communism?

That is what the author Christine Meinsen contends in a little book I just found at Amazon entitled:  Communist Infiltration of American Churches 1887 – 2012: World Council of Churches National Council of Churches .

Here is the write-up at Amazon:

Who knew when they placed their money in the collection plate Sunday morning they were financing the removal of prayer from America’s schools and “giving aid and comfort to the Communist movement”?

This book begins with a detailed list of Communist goals straight from the Congressional Record then, with references included, provides documented accounts of church activity and funding used to aid communist agitators in their pursuit to achieve those precise goals.

Shockingly, many of these goals have already been achieved. It began in 1887, when Josiah Strong coordinated the General Christian Conference to pool America’s churches into one of the most elusive united fronts for communism the world has ever seen. Strong’s organization morphed and expanded eventually culminating in the National Council of Churches and the World Council of Churches.

Behind the scenes these groups, along with a host of others, founded by politicians and millionaires, have been directing the church’s progressive transformation from one that promotes soul saving evangelism and apostolic training into a mission to advance communism throughout America and the world.

This book provides a brief but detailed account of some of the most shocking activities of the communist front organizations that have infiltrated churches in America and around the globe. Also included is a Resolution to get your church out of these hideously deceitful organizations. What we don’t know, has already hurt us.

Belgium: Afghan asylum-seekers denied asylum, but refuse to leave

Editors note:  If you are a subscriber and received last night’s post about “refugees” from Chicago, you might want to revisit the post for my correction They were Americans seeking refuge in Madison, Wisconsin as they escaped war-torn Chicago!

Afghan asylum seekers protesting in Brussels.

What a mess!  Europe is being swamped with Muslim refugees from the Arab world.  It’s an influx so large that it will ultimately sink those socialist countries economically and socially.  And, yet you also know these asylum-seekers have much to fear because when the US is gone from Afghanistan a blood bath is coming.

I would like to know the reason that these families have been ordered deported, but unfortunately the media is always quick to paint any “refugees” as completely vulnerable and innocent of any wrong-doing.  In the accompanying news clip and in very good English, one of the women accuses Europeans of not caring about women and children (they have the lingo down pat!).

From Press TV:

Four families are living in this one small room. [Watch the accompanying news clip—ed].  This is where they eat and sleep. They are among a group of approximately 450 people from Afghanistan who are now living in this Brussels City Centre building. The population consists of dozens of families and almost 100 children. The Afghans are now refusing to leave this centre for asylum seekers after all of their applications for refugee status and residency were turned down by Belgian authorities.

The Afghan families say that their request for asylum is fully legitimate claiming that men who refuse to join the Taliban in Afghanistan face the risk of being killed.

Some of the families claim that they paid gangs up to 30,000 U.S dollars in order to get safe passage out of Afghanistan and into the E.U. Now they face a very uncertain future.  [Where do these ‘poor’ people get all this money, does no reporter ever ask?  Are they funded by rich groups (or governments) which want to destabilize Europe?—ed]

It is currently impossible to know how this impasse will end. Belgian authorities are insisting that these people must go while the people themselves are equally adamant that they won’t leave.

It’s only going to get worse!

Maybe it’s time for Daniel Pipes’ “culture zone” concept!  Move them on to rich Muslim countries!

Hey, Chicago resettlement contractors, are you missing a family?

Update and correction!  I had originally read about 4 reports calling this family “refugees” (I guess they are in a sense!), but reader ‘pungent peppers’ has found a lengthier story about them and they do appear to be American “refugees” from Chicago.  Here is the linkIt is still worth noting that nothing has improved for the South Side since Obama began his political career there, and the US State Department is still pouring refugees into crime-ridden Chicago neighborhoods.

This is a strange story.  A family of ten “refugees” was found by police under a pile of blankets in Madison, Wisconsin.  Communication with the police was difficult, but adults related to the officers that they had to leave Chicago (aka the murder capital of the USA) because of the gun violence in their South Side neighborhood (Englewood).

Obama running for State Senator in Chicago’s South Side—goin’ to improve the neighborhood! Guess not!

No report on how the four adults and six children traveled the 150 miles to Madison.  And, there is no mention of what nationality they are—only their resettlement contractor knows for sure!

From The Inquisitr:

During morning patrols, a police officer discovered a family of 10 huddled under a makeshift shelter of blankets on the street. They were war refugees in a way, but this sad story doesn’t come from Syria… it comes from Madison, Wisconsin.

The Smoking Gun reports that the group were “shocked” by the officer’s concern for their well-being, though possibly not as shocked as he was to hear their tale. This group of four adults, a five-month-old baby, several toddlers, and two older children had been on the Madison streets for two weeks, camping near the State Capitol.

And they came from Chicago.

“They explained they had escaped the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago’s South Side,” the police said.

The group explained that they had “fled Chicago from where a lot of shootings and deaths were occurring.” The officer added, “It was just too dangerous to stay; some people they knew were killed.”

Police added that the group had not been panhandling or asking for handouts.

The family received immediate aid from the police, including food, money and short-term housing provided by three local churches. The report concludes that while the family’s “future still holds many questions,” they are now “away from the bullets.”

The report neglects to describe how the family managed to make the 150-mile journey from Chicago to Madison.

Chicago is a major resettlement city.  According to stats at WRAPS.net, since 2001, the US State Department has resettled 11,406 refugees in the impoverished neighborhoods of the city.  1,023 new refugees were resettled there this year.  Here is one story we posted in 2009 about Chicago’s Heartland Alliance placing refugees in slum neighborhoods—guess the beat goes on!  Be sure to read that 2009 post to the end for Obama’s own connection to Heartland Alliance and Bill Ayers.

Boondoggle? UN building state-of-the-art refugee camp near Jordan/Saudi border as Syrian refugee flow slows

I thought I did my duty for today in reporting Syrian refugee “crisis” news, here, but can’t resist posting another story after seeing this report of a ‘ghost’ refugee camp being built by the UN (surely with millions of your tax dollars).

“…bizarre sight of thousands of restrooms that appeared to march across the desolate landscape,” reporter Richard Read. Photo: Jamie Francis

Every day I receive alerts on many refugee topics.  Today my ‘Syria’ alert was filled to over-flowing with stories on the Syrian refugee “crisis,” “catastrophe:” not enough foreign aid, not enough schools for the children, too much criminal activity in camps, no money, no money, send money, etc. etc…. and then this:  ‘United Nations builds giant refugee camp in the desert, but will it be used?’

From The Oregonian:

AL AZRAQ, Jordan –- There’s a big mystery in the desert near Jordan’s border with Saudi Arabia, and on Tuesday photographer Jamie Francis and I went to investigate it.   [I wonder how the Saudis feel about its nearness to their border—ed]

Here on barren volcanic soil, the United Nations is building a gigantic refugee camp designed for a new influx of Syrians fleeing the war next door.

Preparations are impressive – this may be the most carefully planned refugee camp anywhere in the world, designed to house as many as 130,000 eventually. But despite tens of millions of dollars invested, it’s impossible to say when or whether Al Azraq camp will ever be used.

[…..]

I interviewed a top international migration official who confirmed that for now, the Syrian refugee flow into Jordan has slowed to a trickle. At times, as many as 4,000 Syrians a day arrived in Jordan. But the daily number has dropped to between 120 and 150, said Davide Terzi, chief of mission to Jordan for the International Organization for Migration.

So, let’s see, Camp Al Azraq will hold 130,000, it’s nearly finished, that means 130,000 Syrians (if they aren’t coming to Jordan bring them over from Lebanon) could be housed there instead of being resettled in the West until the Syrian civil war is over.  And, think of this enormous benefit—-they would still be in their own “culture zone!”

Germany: 75 newly arrived Syrian “refugees” disappear

We’ve been following the news from “welcoming” Germany that has agreed to take up to 10,000 Syrian refugees.  The first ones arrived just two weeks ago amid much fanfare, here.

Photo is from The Local

Now we see that 75 have gone missing and are believed to have been “trafficked” to Denmark further demonstrating the mess the European Union is in with “asylum shoppers” looking for a better deal in another country.

Why didn’t they like Germany? Surely they were being fed well!  I can only guess it is because Germany isn’t giving permanent residency; they can only stay until the Syrian civil war is over.

So where did these poor struggling refugees with children get the cash for this escape?  And, who are they, Syrian rebels with children for cover?

From The Local:

A group of 75 Syrian refugees have disappeared from their emergency accommodation, days after German authorities caught them trying to cross into Denmark.

On Sunday authorities in the north German state of Schleswig-Holstein pulled over a coach and found 85 Syrian refugees, among them 30 children, thought to have paid Italian smugglers to take them to Denmark.

All bar [but?–ed] a few of the Syrians were then housed in a temporary asylum seeker accommodation in Neumünster, from where most of them suddenly disappeared, reported NDR broadcaster on Tuesday.

Police arrested three Italian bus drivers also on board who now face charges of people smuggling after refugees on the coach said they had paid up to €6,500 for their passage across Europe.

Officers also discovered €14,000 in cash in the vehicle, but could not confirm whether this was cash passengers had paid the drivers, Zeit newspaper said.

According to the police, refugee smugglers supply customers with an “emergency telephone number” that clients can ring if their journey is interrupted and they are separated from their escorts.

It was likely that the Syrians put in the Neumünster asylum home had been supplied with such a number, NDR said.

This tactic works because the shelters are not secure, closed facilities – legally, refugees must be allowed freedom of movement. “We are not a closed establishment, residents may move freely,” centre chief Ulf Döring told the station.

He added that he was not surprised that they had vanished. Three refugees have stayed behind at the Neumünster home. Seven others are thought to still be at a different centre.

In other Syrian refugee news, the UN is pressuring France to take in Syrians.

And, in the US, a House Committee heard from Catholic contractors who said that they were scouring America already looking for cities (with existing Syrian residents) in which to place the refugees they hope they will be paid to resettle in FY2014 (which, by the way, begins in 5 days).

Speaking of 2014, any day now the Presidential Determination will be released that lays out the President’s wishes for how many (and from where ) refugees will be coming to the US.  Watch for it!
