Australia may take 4,000 Christian Iraqi and Syrian refugees

The Abbott government, which is constantly beaten-up by those who want Australia to take in the world, is considering resettling persecuted Christians, but that isn’t enough for the no-borders pushers.

From the Sydney Morning Herald:

The Abbott government is considering offering refuge to as many as 4000 Iraqis and Syrians after the new Anglican Primate of Australia, Philip Freier, called for asylum in Australia for Christians facing slaughter in northern Iraq.

Dr Freier, Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, said he had written to Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Immigration Minister Scott Morrison asking that they emulate France in offering refuge to Christians facing forced conversion to Islam or death.

By the way, has anyone seen anything from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service or any of the other US “religious” resettlement contractors saying we should be taking CHRISTIANS into the US now?  Or, are they so politically-correct and fearful of saying anything against Islam that they keep their mouths shut?

(New readers of RRW probably don’t know that Catholics and Lutherans are responsible for much of the Muslim refugee resettlement happening in the US right now.)

Adam Bandt wants to know why Abbott treats those in detention differently than persecuted Christians from Iraq. Could it be that those in detention have broken the law and won’t make good citizens.

Greens call out Abbott

The text of the Sydney Morning Herald story does not include anything from the Green Party, but there is a clip of Green Party leader Adam Bandt criticizing Tony Abbott for what he calls hypocrisy because while perhaps agreeing to take 4,000 refugees now, the government is holding hundreds of Iraqis in detention.  He wonders why the disparity in treatment.

It is pretty obvious to me!   Those in detention are mostly Muslims who broke into Australia illegally—not persecuted Christians running for their lives at the moment.

Here is the caption under the film clip:

PM needs to decide if he’s a humanitarian or a hypocrite: Greens

Granting extra places to refugees fleeing Iraq is a good start, but it would be hypocritical of the government to send refugees already in detention back to Iraq says Adam Bandt.

Comment worth noting: Reverse African out-migration through colonization of Africa by first-world countries

Isn’t that a novel and sensible idea!

Editors note:  We have a category (comments worth noting) here at RRW where we post comments from readers that you might have missed at individual posts or which came to me directly.  In response to our post From Catalonia to Calais…. reader ‘momodoom’ suggests “historically proven” colonization by advanced countries would make Africa a more appealing place to live.   Yes indeed!

Momodoom:

Africa in the late 19th Century. Is it better-off today? Obviously not! https://resourcesforhistoryteachers.wikispaces.com/WHII15

All these Africans (and Middle Easterners) fleeing their homes for the green grass of Europe! But really – who wouldn’t want to leave Africa? What does it have to make people want to stay there?

Nothing.

Well, what could Africa do to become more appealing to people? What could the world do to make Africa more appealing…?

Colonization! Historically proven to make Africa a more civilized place.

The U.N. should sponsor a program to allow any Western country in to various failed Third World states. They would “conquer” the country insofar as its legal system and enforcement, and the ensuing lack of corruption and greater stability would allow for investment – both from within the country, and from interested parties throughout the world, creating improved economic circumstances which might persuade their youth to stay in-country.

There would be a plethora of details to be worked out, but it would be a far better system than the one currently in place: Western countries propping up failed and corrupted states with aid money, who then produce excess population which then proceeds to leave said failed state to come and invade the Western countries.

I see this as a win-win!!

Can you hear the hissing now from the politically-correct one-worlders?

All of our posts on the ‘Invasion of Europe’ are here.

African migrant invasion of Europe adds new frightening dimension—fear of Ebola

A Chinese news agency is reporting that possibly five of forty Eritreans trying to get into Western Europe through Albania show symptoms of Ebola.

This April photo shows men from Syria and Eritrea arriving in Albania. http://smarkos.blogspot.com/2014_04_13_archive.html

From Shanghai Daily:

TIRANA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — Albanian police Tuesday detained some 40 illegal immigrants from Eritrea, five of whom have symptoms of the deadly Ebola haemorrhagic fever.

Local media said the illegal immigrants were arrested near the city of Vlore, in south Albania. The five who have suspected symptoms were taken to a local hospital for further tests.

There’s no exact statistics of refugees coming from poor and war-torn African countries to Albania. Official data shows that in the first half of 2014, about 500 Eritrean and Somali immigrants were detained in Albania. Their destination is some of the Western European countries.

Albania is a country from which migrants flee, but now Africans and Middle Easterners are fleeing to the country (at least as a jumping-off place to the West).

Washington Post highlights refugee contractor Church World Service’s role as employment service for big business

Recently the Center for Immigration Studies released a report on Tennessee (we reported on it here) about how immigrant employment was responsible for most of the job growth in that state, and then today I see they have another study out, this time on Florida.  Here is how a piece by Ryan Lovelace at National Review Online begins:

A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies finds that the majority of the net increase in employment among Florida’s working age population since the first quarter of 2000 has gone to legal and illegal immigrants. Florida ranked second in the nation in employment growth among 16 to 65 year olds since the first quarter of 2000, CIS says, but still ranks 34th nationwide in labor-force participation of its native-born population in the same age range.

They need to do a study on North Carolina if they haven’t already!

One of the quasi-government/quasi-religious groups, Church World Service, is busy supplying refugee laborers for North Carolina companies and now they are whining again about cuts in taxpayer dollars that allow them, a non-profit ‘church’ group, to bring in workers to compete with native workers.

CWS CEO Rev. John McCullough (left with scarf) and other “faith” leaders pushing for amnesty in Washington. http://www.interfaithimmigration.org/2013/04/12/nationally-renowned-faith-leaders-speak-at-a10-time-is-now-immigrants-rights-rally/

Here is the Washington Post helping Church World Service get its cry heard for more money (from the US Treasury’s money tree), in the wake of the unaccompanied minors’ border invasion:

“We measure our success as a company by the number of rice cookers we have,” Lindsay Hancock, Creative Snacks’ director of business administration, says only half-jokingly. The company has four now.

All 30 full-time employees on the plant floor are refugees. Many came through the Church World Service resettlement agency and its Greensboro employment training program. But that program’s future remains uncertain because, in the world of immigration and refugee policy, it turns out that the Mexican border and all its politics can run right through a North Carolina snack plant full of refugees.

File this under unintended consequences: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement allocates funds to programs for refugees and unaccompanied alien children. Earlier this year, when the number of children fleeing Central America and Mexico for the United States started skyrocketing, the office reallocated more money to help address a mounting crisis at the border. That money — $94 million — came directly out of refugee programs and services. Taking the hit were grants that help refugees with employment, preventative health services and adaption to America and its school system.

Don’t make us choose between refugees and illegal immigrants! WE want money for everybody (our salaries too)!

For state refugee coordinators and immigration advocates, the crisis at the border has meant walking a tightrope: Do not make refugees bear the cost of Congress’s refusal to provide more funding. Do not pit refugees against immigrant children. Do not make us choose one or the other.

State refugee coordinators have been scrambling to figure out how to avoid layoffs and keep their health-care, educational and employment services intact.

Then this (below) is what jumped out at me!  “Creative Snacks” DEPENDS on Church World Service to supply it with workers and the owners have NO REAL ANSWER AS TO WHY THEY DON’T HIRE AMERICANS.

I have a few theories and one is that there are tax breaks of some sort for the employers when they hire refugees and what the refugees can’t afford through their salaries comes to them via various social services and training supplied by you!  (There are even special savings plans for refugees for such things as cars, homes and education where the government matches their savings.) So, the company can keep salaries low—you take care of everything else.  And, most importantly, refugees are basically trapped employees with nowhere else to go.

The WaPo continues (We want to know why is this the responsibility of the US taxpayer?):

“We depend upon Church World Service to help us find people,” Hancock says. “The loss of funding would have an immediate impact on our business.”

Yes, Hancock says, the company could hire the native-born, but Creative Snacks’ owners, Marius and Hilary Andersen, are committed to providing opportunities to refugees, who, by definition, have been wrenched from their homelands and who, in that loss, must place their faith in a new country.  [So, they have been wrenched by the UN and Church World Service from their homeland, what does that have to do with answering the question about why the Andersens don’t hire native North Carolinians?—ed]

Read the whole article, it is pretty informative.

Church World Service’s Form 990

CWS isn’t as bad as some of their fellow contractors*** in terms of the percentage of federal dollars they gobble up in any given year (most contractors are up in the 90% range).   Their 2013 Form 990 says they took in $74,101,599 and that $43,999,257 came from you as government grants.  That’s about 59.3 %.

Doing well by doing good!

Their CEO, Rev. John McCullough makes a cool $285,830 in salary from CWS (and related activities).  Five other employees are in the 6-figure salary range.  Maybe if the shortfall continues they could cut those salaries down a bit and help the refugees more.  (just saying!)

You should know that CWS lobbied for so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform which we all know helped inspire the border surge.

***The federal refugee resettlement contractors (I suspect grant recipient big dogs Baptist Child and Family Services and Southwest Key Programs  are now devouring all the federal cash):

Alinsky: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

Saul Alinsky, as everyone should know by now, is the ‘great’ mind behind the throne—Obama’s throne.  (Thanks to all of you who found my spelling error!Remember the rumors that Alinsky’s portrait hangs in the White House?   In his little book of evil (Rules for Radicals) he lays out his prescription for political success with twelve simple rules.

O’Keefe (who exposed ACORN) wades across the Rio Grande dressed as Osama bin Laden.

Number 5 (and one our side of the political debate seems almost incapable of using) is this one: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

Do you remember the incident in 2006 when New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd dared to make fun of Obama’s protruding ears and he chewed her out over it?  She was on to something—Obama knew if jokes and ridicule about him became a common practice he was done (in addition of course to knowing what a thin skin he has anyway!).

So today we start with a little humor!  James O’Keefe knows how to use Rule #5! Funny that we are the radicals now and the Obama-Left is the establishment.

I meant to post it the day it broke on Drudge!  Did you see James O’Keefe dressed as Osama bin Laden wading across the Rio Grande to break into America?  He was not caught by border patrol agents.  From the Washington Times:

Investigative filmmaker James O’Keefe exposes the U.S.-Mexico border’s vulnerability to terrorism in his latest undercover project, obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller.

O’Keefe’s Project Veritas video reminds viewers of recent statements by the president and Obama administration officials that the southern border is secure. O’Keefe then proceeds to Hudspeth County, Texas, to easily cross back and forth cross the Rio Grande wearing the costume of modern history’s most recognizable terrorist.

“I see no border patrol. I see no security,” O’Keefe said in the video before donning a bin Laden mask. “Thousands of people have stood in my footsteps right now. They’ve come from South America, Honduras, Guatemala, and they’ve all crossed the border. And if they can cross, anybody can cross.”

Watch the six minute Project Veritas video (it is only sort-of funny when you see how easy it is for terrorists to cross).

Robin Williams takes on the Jihadists

Then for your second laugh of the day, watch comedian Robin Williams take on the Jihadists in Robin Williams’ Last Gift: Angering ISIS (hat tip: Judy).  He actually did get the Islamists going if the comments on twitter are any indication.

From PJ Tattler:

The Islamic State is omnipresent on Twitter these days, so it was curious to see the jihadists weighing in on the death of Robin Williams just as the rest of the world was last night.

However, they weren’t as kind to the kafir, heavily citing the above hilarious sketch he did about jihad and the whole idea of getting 72 virgins upon martyrdom.

Click here to watch Williams’ minute and a half stand-up routine on jihadists and their virgins.

Looking around at the controversy about Williams in the Muslim world, it seems reviews were mixed as this twitter mention (right) indicates.

Seriously…..

When we first started to read about Saul Alinsky back in 2007 (at the same time that RRW got its start), we named a category here “community destabilization” because that is one thing Alinsky (and his community organizers) sought to do in order to “change” America. My theory is that concern for American citizens in poverty went out of vogue (and frankly many Americans climbed into the middle class) so then impoverished immigrants became the pawns of choice—the new community destabilizing element for the radical Left (for Obama, Jarrett et al).
