Greece: First Cases of COVID-19 Diagnosed in Refugee Camp

Invasion of Europe news…..

Everyday I check to see if the dire warnings the UN and its ideological partners have come to pass that a catastrophe is in the making in crowded refugee camps in Greece.

Not “carnage” yet, but the first cases of Coronavirus have appeared.

Of course those who have been encouraging the migration to Europe now say that something must be done.  But what, really, there is no magic bullet for the refugees or for any of us.

From NPR:

Greece Records First Coronavirus Cases Among Refugees, Imposes Quarantine On Camp

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, medical personnel, human rights groups and others have warned of catastrophe if COVID-19 spreads to the roughly 60,000 refugees living in often-squalid camps in Greece.

Now the virus has arrived. This week, at least 20 refugees living in the Ritsona camp, near Athens, have tested positive for COVID-19. The camp is now on lockdown for the next two weeks.

In 2016 protesting refugees said they didn’t need food they just wanted to be allowed to migrate into Europe.

“No one can go in or out” except for essential personnel like healthcare workers, Migration Minister Notis Mitarakis told Greece’s SKAI radio on Thursday.

Authorities were first alerted earlier this week, when a 19-year-old resident of the camp tested positive for COVID-19 after giving birth at an Athens hospital.

Healthcare workers immediately began testing more than 60 Ritsona camp residents who had come into contact with the woman. The 20 who tested positive for COVID-19 currently do not have symptoms, Greece’s migration ministry says.

Testing of the 2,700 refugees living in Ritsona will continue during the 14-day quarantine. [Check it out! They will all be tested.—ed]

Mitarakis, the Greek migration minister, told members of the European Parliament’s home affairs committee that there is no room on the Greek mainland for the refugees.

“We will strongly welcome any offers of relocation from member states that have capacity,” he told the lawmakers Thursday, “because we cannot resolve this crisis instantly and alone.”

The European Union is deeply divided on the issue of refugee relocation. On Wednesday, the European Court of Justice said three anti-migrant EU countries — Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic — broke EU law by refusing to accept refugees under a EU-mandated relocation program.

By the way, if you are interested in the COVID-19 numbers from Europe and from the rest of the world, check out Worldometer.  It is very interesting.

This is a screenshot of the top infected countries today, April 3, 2020:

For a little perspective….

If you heard Rush Limbaugh talking about these numbers this week, here it is at Worldometer at this moment in time!

COVID-19 News: Medical Charity Calls for All Refugees to be Dispersed from Greek Camps

Invasion of Europe news….

Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) wants Greece and the European Union to find places elsewhere for 40,000 asylum seekers as they fear Coronavirus will run wild in the camps.

But, it is everywhere in Europe so where the heck are they supposed to go?  Europe is naturally trying to save its own people first.

From Reuters:

MSF urges Greece to evacuate migrant camps due to coronavirus risk

ATHENS (Reuters) – Medical charity Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has urged Greece to immediately evacuate migrants from overcrowded camps on its islands due to a high risk of the coronavirus spreading swiftly among people living in squalid conditions.

Moria camp on Lesbos has 15,000 residents.

Greece reported its first fatality from the virus on Thursday, in the town of Patra on the mainland. It has confirmed 117 cases of coronavirus so far, including one on the island of Lesbos, where the notorious Moria camp is located.

“The evacuation of the camps on the Greek islands is now more urgent than ever,” the charity said.

“We need to be realistic: It would be impossible to contain an outbreak in such camp settings,” it said, adding that it had not yet seen a credible emergency plan in case of an outbreak.

More than 40,000 asylum-seekers are living in camps, which are operating far beyond their capacity on five Greek islands.

Now get this….

MSF did not specify where it thought the Greek authorities should transfer the migrants but said both Greece and the European Union should act swiftly to avert a disaster.

Of course there is no place to move them especially as each European country is now closing its borders to one and all.  Coronavirus sure is setting back the borderless world goals of the globalists.

Editor’s note:  As RRW approaches its 13th birthday, there are over 10,000 posts archived here at Refugee Resettlement Watch. Unfortunately, it is just me here with no staff and so it has become virtually impossible to answer all of the basic questions that come into my e-mail inbox or to RRW’s facebook page every day. I don’t want to appear rude—I simply haven’t enough hours in the day.

Please take time to visit RRW (don’t just read posts in your e-mail) and use the search window in the right hand sidebar and see if you can find the information you need.  Also see my series that I wrote in recent months entitled Knowledge is Power which explains some basic principles of how Refugee Resettlement is carried out in the US.

And, lastly, I don’t write that much every day, so if you made a habit of reading my posts here on a daily basis, you would eventually catch on to what is happening because I do link back to previous posts as much as possible. LOL!  Thank you for helping me not go crazy!

Bad News for Europe: Turkey Will No Longer Stop Migrants from Crossing into Greece

Invasion of Europe news….

If Europe doesn’t have it bad enough already, it looks like a new wave of migrants from Syria is on the way to the west.  And, they aren’t all Syrians!

In 2016 the Turkish government, in a deal with the EU, agreed to not permit border crossings into Europe, but it looks like that agreement is now out the window.

At a time when the whole world is focused on the movement of sick people, here is an example of how vulnerable every country that doesn’t seal its borders is to the transmission of deadly pathogens.

From Deutsche Welle:

Turkey will not stop refugees ‘who want to go to Europe’

No caption to indicate where or when the photo was taken but note the two on the left in face masks.

Hundreds of Europe-bound migrants have begun heading to northwest Turkey towards Bulgaria and Greece. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party said the refugees began their journey after a Syrian attack in Idlib.

Turkey is “no longer able to hold refugees” following a Syrian attack that killed 33 troops in Idlib, Omer Celik, a spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling AKP party, said on Friday.

The announcement comes as some 300 migrants walk through northwest Turkey towards its borders with Greece and Bulgaria on Friday, according to DHA news agency.

“As a result of the attack, the (refugees) in Turkey are heading towards Europe, and those on Syrian territory are heading towards Turkey,” Celik told CNN Türk shortly after midnight Friday morning. “Our refugee policy is the same as before, but we are now in a situation where we can no longer hold them.”

Demiroren news agency said the group of migrants, including women and children, embarked on their journey from Turkey’s Edirne province toward borders with Bulgaria and Greece — two European Union nations — at around midnight. Syrians, Iranians, Iraqis, Pakistanis and Moroccans were among those in the group.

According to EU figures, Greece saw more than 60,000 asylum seekers arrive from Turkey on the shores of its Aegean islands in 2019, and it expects more than 100,000 more in 2020.

We want to go to Germany and make Muslim babies…

That is what Syrian ‘refugees’ told writer  on an island in Greece.  Asked why Greece wasn’t sufficient for the purpose, he was told that the Greeks don’t pay refugees as well as the Germans do…

“They [‘infidels’] are too easy to fool.”

(Afghan refugee on a Greek island)

From BESA Center (Hat tip: Robin). Emphasis below is mine):

….on a beautiful and cool summer evening, I met A. at a bar on the same island. A., a Syrian refugee, often spends his evenings bar-hopping with his western friends. Those friends are mostly romantic European social workers who, I observed several times, sport t-shirts, bags, and laptops festooned with the Palestinian flag. They are on the island to help the unfortunate Muslim refugees who are fleeing war in their native countries.

Syrian refugee men
Syrian refugee men. At another time in history they would be called invaders. In 2015 Trump wanted to know why they weren’t fighting for their own country. The answer is that they see the whole world as theirs.  Photo: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3326456/Trump-blasts-Syrian-refugees-look-like-soldiers-pledges-turn-away-president-says-certainly-implement-database-track-U-S-Muslims.html

“I’ll tell you strictly Muslim-to-Muslim,” A. said in good English after having poured down a few shots of whiskey. “These (European social workers) are funny guys. And they’re not just funny. They’re also silly. I don’t know why on earth they are in love with a Muslim cause that even some of us Muslims despise.”

Last year, three Afghans stopped in front of my house on the same island and asked for drinking water. I gave them three bottles and asked if they needed anything else. Coffee? They accepted and sat down in the garden chairs.

Over coffee, they said they were glad to be hosted “not by an infidel on this infidel island” but by a Muslim. The young Afghan who was dressed like a dancer from a cheap hip-hop clip on MTV said, “One day we good Muslims will conquer their infidel lands.” I asked why he was receiving “infidel” money for living. “It’s just halal,” he answered. “They [‘infidels’] are too easy to fool.”

M., another fluently English-speaking Syrian, gave me a long lecture on the wonderful governance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “Turkey is the best country in the world!” M. said. “ Erdoğan is the leader of the ummah.” I asked why he had risked his life to cross illegally from the “best country in the world” to the “poor, infidel lands.” “I want to go to Europe to increase the Muslim population there,” he said. “I want to make a Muslim family there. I want to have plenty of children.” I reminded him that Greece, too, is a European country. No it’s not, he answered.

Almost all the illegal migrants on that and other Greek islands want to get to Germany, where they have heard from friends and relatives that they will be the best paid for being “poor” refugees.

Paid well while making Muslim babies!

Lesson from Greece: Migrants and local citizens involved in violent clashes

Election 2016 in the United States is a referendum on whether we will become Europe some day, or not!
America’s immigration/border issue is everything! Nothing else matters! Learn that hard lesson from European migration crisis!

Invasion of Europe news…

Greek police use teargas against Greek residents to break up clashes with migrants. Daily Mail photo.

From the Daily Mail (you don’t hear about this daily in America do you? Thank goodness for the UK press). The EU/Turkey deal is collapsing and the migrant surge has begun again in earnest:

Violent clashes between refugees and locals have broken out in Greece – as the number of migrants arriving from Turkey has doubled to 1,000 in just one week.

On Chios, local residents were sprayed with tear gas by police after hundreds marched through the main square demanding the removal of the island’s huge refugee camp.

On Lesbos, migrants have lead two demonstrations through the capital Mytilene demanding the right to leave the island and travel to mainland Greece having been stranded there for months.

Some 13,000 migrants are living in over-crowded refugee camps on the Aegean islands – many on Chios and Lesbos.

Dozens of Golden Dawn supporters twice tried to invade the sprawling Souda camp in Chios, home to almost 2,000 refugees, on Wednesday night.

Angry migrants responded pelting police and demonstrators with stones and chanting; ‘let us free, we want to go to Athens’.
