Trump Initiative to Give State and Local Government a Say in Refugee Resettlement was DEAD Before Biden EO

I am willing to blame (almost) everything on the newly installed Biden/Harris Administration, but Trump never had support for his effort to give state and local governments a say in placement of refugees.  Why?

First, because the Leftwingers at three federal contracting agencies, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Church World Service and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, had taken the EO to court and had already won!

The contractors have been calling the shots on locations for decades and they plan to keep it that way!

An Appeals Court, the day before Inauguration Day, had already put the nail in the coffin on this Trump effort to protect you and give you a say in refugee resettlement site selection.

Court of Appeals Rules: YOU Have No Say in Whether YOUR Town Will Accept Refugees

And….

Republican Governors did not back Trump!

More importantly, governors needed to support the plan and the vast majority, at least 18, Republican governors in the nation opposed the President, except for a handful including DeSantis and Kemp who remained quiet, leaving Governor Abbott of Texas the only Governor in the Nation brave enough to back the plan!

Three More Republican Governors Turn on Trump, Cave to Leftists on Refugee Program Reform

White House Supposedly Blindsided as Republican Governors Cave on Refugee Resettlement

….most importantly, the supposed reformers working for the President apparently did not have a firm understanding of how weak most Republican governors are on immigration issues of any sort.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott was the only Republican to support the President’s effort to reform the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program before the resettlement contractors shut it down with a lawsuit. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2020/01/10/breaking-news-texas-governor-abbott-says-no-will-not-accept-more-refugees-in-2020/

For new readers, most Republican governors are weak because they are backed by global corporations and the Chamber of Commerce types who want a steady supply of CHEAP labor!

Hey, and for all of you Kristi Noem fans, she DID NOT SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT on this and I suspect it is because of that big Chinese-owned Smithfield Foods slaughter house in South Dakota and its appetite for cheap refugee labor.

In addition, of course, to the myriad other meatpackers scattered across South Dakota that Noem was obviously not willing to buck. (Not presidential material in my view!)

And, even if Biden left a little (fake) wiggle room as the Breitbart article suggests in its incomplete story, there is NO concern for you from Biden/Harris— for those of you who live in the communities where refugees have been resettled and where tens of thousands more will be resettled.

Biden is aiming to bring in more refugees than any president in three decades.

The US State Department and its contractors*** will be choosing locations for the impoverished third worlders new homes as they have been doing for 40 years.

Here is Breitbart’s story without some of the most important facts!  You can read it yourself, but remember…

As Biden arrived in the White House, there was effectively no longer a Trump EO to protect local citizens and states, and a big part of the blame goes to REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS who did not back the President.

Joe Biden Puts Americans in the Dark by Revoking Ability to Reject Refugee Dumping in Their Communities

Too bad Breitbart isn’t reading RRW!

Americans Last!

***For New Readers these are the nine federal refugee contractors who worked to put Biden and Harris in the White House and are lobbying for millions of illegal aliens to be transformed into legal voting citizens, as well as raising the refugee admissions ceiling from 15,000 this year to 125,000.

They are largely paid by you, the taxpayer, for their work of changing America by changing the people, and in so doing, are putting Americans last!

Ohio GOP Chair: We Want Refugee Workers in Ohio

John Binder does excellent work on the immigration/refugee beat for Breitbart and this is one post I missed (lost in my overflowing e-mail inbox).

Thanks to reader Robert for bringing it to my attention.

More confirmation that we aren’t only dealing with liberal Open Borders types on immigration, but must battle Chamber of Commerce Republicans who are shilling for businesses looking to make money off of the immigrant population either as cheap labor or consumers.

As one of my readers once quipped—refugees buy used cars.

Breitbart:

Ohio GOP Chair Defends Republicans Importing Refugees to Fill U.S. Jobs

Chairwoman of the Ohio Republican Party, Jane Timken, is defending Republican governors like Ohio’s Mike DeWine for asking the federal government to continue resettling refugees in their states.

[….]

Coupled with the refugee reduction, Trump signed an executive order that gives localities, counties, and states veto power over whether they want to resettle refugees in their communities.

DeWine, along with 18 other Republican governors, announced he would continue allowing refugee contractors to resettle refugees in Ohio — a decision that Timken is now defending using widely circulated talking points, which Breitbart News exclusively reported.

Here are the 19 Republican governors who thumbed their noses at President Trump and said—send us more impoverished people willing to work for low wages and for our taxpayers to support!

An orange X indicates those who quickly dissed the Prez, and the pink X marks the second wave of Republican governors who told Trump they want more refugees. Of course Governor Abbott of Texas is the only governor to say NO (so far).

Binder continues:

In a statement to Ohio Republicans, Timken said she is “supportive of Governor DeWine’s decision” to bring more refugees to Ohio, declaring without evidence that the refugee vetting process has been fixed and thus previous national security concerns are no longer valid:

“Accusations that the federal government is letting dangerous individuals into the country through poor vetting are no longer accurate. President Trump’s administration approves every refugee resettled into Ohio, and the process is now very stringent. We can now be confident in how the federal government is vetting refugees.”

Vetting is only one issue, what about Ohioans who need jobs?

Does the President know she opposes his refugee reform effort?

Like so many other state officials she doesn’t know how the program works.

We get a lot of Chinese asylum seekers (who get across our borders without any vetting and then apply for asylum), but vetted Chinese refugees are rare.

Timken also said refugees arriving in the U.S. today “are truly victims of oppression,” citing that “an example of someone who would be able to seek refugee status would be a Christian in China who is being persecuted by the Chinese government for her religious beliefs.”

That example, though, is not indicative of the refugees who are often resettled in Ohio. Since Trump’s inauguration in 2017, only 18 refugees from China have been admitted to the U.S. and none have been resettled in Ohio.

Ohio, since 2017, has resettled nearly 4,500 refugees in areas like Cleveland Heights, Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. The majority of these refugees have arrived from Bhutan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Iraq, Somalia, Syria, and Ukraine.

[….]

Today, there are more than 242,600 unemployed Ohioans — indicating that Ohio has the sixth-largest unemployed state population in the U.S. just behind Pennsylvania with an unemployed population of about 293,000. Likewise, Ohio’s unemployment rate of 4.2 percent remains above the national average.

Much more here.

Daniel Horowitz sounds off at Breitbart: Republican Governors Betrayed the President

Daniel Horowitz at Conservative Review has gotten his teeth firmly sunk into the issue of the deceptive and dysfunctional Refugee Admissions Program and is sounding off much more articulately than I could ever do—he says many Republicans who claim to be conservatives aren’t really in the battle over the major issue of our time (or any time), immigration.

As author of ‘Stolen Sovereignty,’ Horowitz knows what he is talking about when it comes to the subject of transforming America. https://www.amazon.com/Stolen-Sovereignty-Unelected-Transforming-America/dp/1944229299

Case in point is the number of Republican governors, endorsed by Trump, who have now turned tail and “betrayed” him, says Horowitz

He also throws sharp barbs at so-called ‘conservative’ media that is mesmerized by impeachment and what the Democrat candidates are saying at their boring debates while a major civilizational issue goes unnoticed.

BTW, I noticed that other than Tucker, Fox News did not follow the Republican governors pandering to the Left and kissing-up to the refugee contractors.  I’m not sure Texas Governor Abbott’s tough stand was even mentioned.

If you read nothing else over the weekend, please read this Breitbart story (and you can also access the audio of the interview):

(LOL! And, I am going to know if you click on the link to read the story because my blog stats tells me how many of you follow a link!)

Daniel Horowitz: Trump-Endorsed GOP Governors Betray President’s Immigration Agenda

Most Republican governors endorsed by President Donald Trump during their gubernatorial campaigns are “betraying” the president’s immigration agenda said Daniel Horowitz, host of the Conservative Review podcast, offering his remarks on Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with host Rebecca Mansour and special guest host John Binder.

Horowitz mentions Breitbart reporters John Binder (pictured) and Neil Munro as two conservative writers who do focus on the greatest issue for the future of America First—immigration.

Binder invited Horowitz’s comment on a federal judge’s blocking of Trump’s executive order allowing communities and states to stop refugee resettlement.

“A judge can’t affirmatively grant a visa,” explained Horowitz. “Even if the judge would be correct on the merits, there is no standing. Refugees can’t get standing to come here. So what do they do? They have non-profit groups — and this is unbelievable, it’s as self-censored as it gets — the nine VOLAG (Volunteer Agency) groups, these are the contractors that get taxpayer funds — $3.5 billion over ten years to transform our neighborhoods and our communities — they get standing to say, ‘Wait a minute. Well, if states can reject refugees, then there will be fewer of them admitted and resettled, and guess what? We’re going to get less revenue, so we have an actionable grievance.’”

[….]

Horowitz went on, “It’s the most vivid illustration of what I call, ‘social transformation without representation.’ The key decisions in a republic have to flow directly from the people or through the people’s representatives, and there’s no greater decision that a society makes than the future orientation of that society, [who] become members, the future of their communities, their neighborhoods, and here, like you mentioned, you have all unaccountable, unelected players — the U.N., State Department bureaucrats, and private, self-centered, taxpayer-funded contractors whose executives get $400,000 salaries — [transforming] our neighborhoods with no questions about the prudence of their decisions.”

[….]

Horowitz said, “Trump gave us a gift where we could decide a national civilization issue at a local grassroots level and yet the left is on the field — our side didn’t even know this was happening — they’re winning in counties Trump carried by 40 points, Burleigh County, North Dakota, and that is because 90 percent of the Republicans that are elected are on the other side. Trump endorsed most of these governors, almost all of them, and yet we have this generic tweet — ‘Tough on crime. Good on immigration.’ — and incidentally, they’re all terrible on crime and immigration.”

“Someone needs to get to the president and say, ‘Look, these guys are betraying what you started doing,’” determined Horowitz.

Read it all.

I’ve only snipped a small segment of Horowitz brilliant analysis of where we are on the issue of refugee resettlement and immigration generally, but indeed much of what he says applies across the board on where the Republican elected officials stand today—mostly not in the fight at all.

See my post yesterday.  I said that our side isn’t organized enough and that this episode with the governors demonstrated that.

The three major immigration restriction groups (headquartered in the Washington, DC area) are not doing any significant grassroots organizing on the issue of refugee resettlement and so we have to establish something new and I hope to be working on rectifying that soon.

But, first, as we start to build a network, be sure to find your place in the Presidential campaign.  We need to buy another four years with Trump at the helm and he has to know that if he wins he is going to be beholden to immigration hawks!

See my post from a couple of months ago about what you need to be doing right NOW!

Sixteen Republican Representatives Tell President they Want More than 18,000 Refugees

The letter to the President was spearheaded by Michigan Rep. Bill Huizenga and was clearly written with the aid of refugee industry lobbyists*** because it contains the language I see everywhere coming out of places like the Refugee Council USA and the federal resettlement contractors who depend on federal dollars for their supposed charitable work.

Republican Rep Bill Huizenga’s letter is boilerplate refugee industry lingo!

Claiming they fear we aren’t protecting enough people experiencing religious persecution they list wholly Muslim countries like Somalia and Afghanistan whose nationals they say we must admit.

But, there is not one word about persecuted Christians, which might have made their appeal to the President understandable at least.

Any day now the President will decide if the number for FY2020 will be 18,000, see here.

Below is Huizenga’s press release and the letter in its entirety.

Is your Republican member of Congress pressing the President for MORE third worlders for your Congressional District?

Huizenga: The Trump Administration Should Reconsider its Position on Refugee Resettlement

On Friday, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) sent a letter, with 16 of his Republican colleagues, to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo regarding the need for the United States to continue to open its doors to refugees displaced by conflict and facing religious persecution. The letter is in response to the Trump Administration recently announcing its plan to reduce the number of refugees admitted to the United States to a record-low level of 18,000 people.

“America cannot lead from behind on the issue of religious persecution and refugee resettlement,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “West Michigan has a long standing tradition of opening its doors to those facing persecution as well as welcoming individuals who have been displaced because of armed conflict. Whether it is our faith-based institutions, non-profit organizations, or individuals within the community, West Michigan continues to set an example Washington could learn from. The Trump Administration should reconsider its position.”

The letter is available below.

Dear Secretary Pompeo:

Since our nation’s founding, the United States has served as a beacon of hope to those suffering from oppression and conflict across the globe. The Statute of Liberty perfectly encapsulates our outstretched hand, accepting the world’s huddled masses who yearn to be free. As the world continues to face an overwhelming refugee crisis, we respectfully urge you to uphold our nation’s commitment to assist individuals who have been displaced by violence and strife.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, there are approximately 20 million refugees worldwide with more than 50 percent being children. Among those, roughly eight million refugees are from Afghanistan, South Sudan, Myanmar, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.Additionally, another 37,000 people are forced to flee their homes every day due to conflict and persecution in their home countries.

Continued U.S. leadership is critical in addressing ongoing humanitarian crises caused by civil war and persecution and in assisting displaced persons. One area where America can lead is by creating and protecting de-escalation zones near war-torn countries and providing humanitarian assistance to people in need. We must also continue to accept and care for refugees here in America.

In our communities throughout the country, there is a long history of opening doors to assist refugees. Local leaders, faith groups, and businesses have come together to create an environment where refugees are welcomed and receive the services necessary to learn English, find employment, and become part of the fabric of their new communities.

As such, we urge you to maintain the United States’ longstanding commitment to assist refugees with a special focus on assisting individuals hailing from nations facing the worst conditions possible. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Representatives who signed the letter led by Ken Buck (CO) include: Fred Upton (MI), Susan W. Brooks (IN), John Curtis (UT), Scott Tipton (CO), Doug Lamborn (CO), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Steve Stivers (OH), Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA), John Katko (NY), Dan Newhouse (WA), Rob Woodall (GA), Chris Stewart (UT), and Mario Diaz-Balart (FL).

In July, Congressman Huizenga spoke out against eliminating the refugee resettlement program when reports circulated that the Trump Administration was considering such a proposal.

If you live in the district of one of those members and disagree with their pressuring the President, you need to let your representative know.

When they sign letters like this they assume it is a freebie for them.  They will get brownie points from Open Borders Inc. and suffer no down side.

It is your job to be sure they know there is a downside.  You could write a letter to your local paper critical of their stance on refugees.  Be sure to attend town halls when they are home campaigning so you can ask them in public to defend their position on refugees.

Maybe ask them why you, the taxpayers, are paying for it all but have no say in where they will be placed, and most importantly ask why we aren’t taking care of our own vulnerable Americans first!

*** A final comment on the subject of lobbyists.  The refugee industry has lobbyists galore.  Not just the Refugee Council USA but every one of the nine contractors has either formal lobbyists (Catholic Bishops and Lutherans for example) and informal lobbyists who help identify soft touches on the refugee program.

Some one, or several, draft a letter like this, and it is the lobbyist working with their principle author, in this case Huzienga staffers, who run around Capitol Hill with the draft letter to get co-signers.  It might require reaching back to the district to get some influential church group, interfaith group, Chamber of Commerce types who then also call the member to encourage their support for the letter.

Those of us who want to see the US Refugee Admissions program slowed, reformed or dumped outright have no lobbyist on the Hill!

Count on these Republicans to be members of the Open Borders movement

The great to-do about nothing regarding Donald Trump’s decade-old locker room talk is really all about immigration.

john-thune
South Dakota Senator John Thune is one of the weasels in the Senate who has come out of the closet today. This man will never support closing the border or slowing Muslim refugees to America because he doesn’t support the one man who can do it. Make it a habit to check their ‘Conservative scores’ here: https://www.conservativereview.com/scorecard Thune has an F grade.

And as such, perhaps the kerfuffle is actually a great benefit to us because it very clearly shows us those members of Congress, US Senators and a couple of governors who do not want to close our borders.
These are also the elected officials we can’t count on to slow the refugee flow into America because by opposing Trump they are supporting Hillary’s (tens of thousands of Syrian Muslims for your town) plan and inviting her Muslim Brotherhood pals to join her in the White House.
You know, bloggers like me have nothing to lose. I could care less if you read this blog or not! I don’t make a living doing this like some of those who write for National Review, so I’m calling the following elected officials traitors to America.

There is only one issue that matters for the future of this country and that is immigration. And, Trump is the first candidate at that level to know it and speak forcefully in favor of saving our unique American culture!

These Open Borders Republican globalists are out of the closet now!

This is from The Hill.  Some of them were so chicken they said they weren’t voting for Hillary, but couldn’t vote for Trump. We are not stupid! A vote for anyone else is a vote for Hillary.
Some say that Mike Pence should go to the top of the ticket. Nice guy, great VP pick, but Hillary will win. This is asinine.
I suspect it is only a partial list because earlier in the day, I saw that Rep. Mia Love (R-UT) was now opposing Trump.
And, even before I posted, the news is out that Sen. John McCain has joined the list. Only surprise is why it took him so long when his protege Kelly Ayotte leads the list.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.)

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (R)

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah)

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert

Rep. Frank Lo Biondo (R-N.J.)

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Ak.)

Rep. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.)

Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala)

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo)

Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.)

Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho)

Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Mo)

South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Az.)

Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.)

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo)

Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev)

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.)

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah)

Rep. Martha Roby (R-Ala)

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.):

Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah)

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Ak)

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.)

There are probably more I haven’t seen yet.  Send them along if you see them.
And, if anyone is going to be blamed for destroying the Republican Party it is this list!
I recommend that if any of these are your representatives and you want to see the Donald Trump “movement” in the White House, you need to unload on them in the next couple of days.
Picket their homes if you must! But, don’t let them get off the hook.
