The Sanctuary movement involves Catholics and Communists

Cliff Kincaid, Director of the AIM Center for Investigative Journalism, has published an excellent review of the Sanctuary movement, the Catholic Church’s love affair with Communist Sandinista’s, Obama’s early community organizing days (for a Catholic organization in Chicago) and Jim Simpson’s new monograph:  Red-Green Axis!

God and Caesar
If you want to understand the scope of the Sanctuary Movement that saw churches help illegal aliens from Central America get across the southern border and then spread them throughout America, get this book. Of course it is written in support of the movement, but it’s an eye-opener.

We wrote many posts a few years ago about the 1980’s Sanctuary Movement, see those by clicking here.
Also, I’ve linked the border invasion of the ‘Unaccompanied Alien Children’ last year to the modern-day sanctuary movement.
Here is Kincaid (The Religious Origins of the Sanctuary Movement)  Hat tip: Robin.

Thanks to Donald Trump, the major media are being forced to cover the illegal immigration movement, such as the proliferation of “sanctuary cities” across the U.S. that attract criminal aliens, give them legal protection, and let them back out on the streets to commit more crimes. But the really taboo topic is how these sanctuary cities grew out of a movement started by the Catholic Church and other churches.

Over 200 cities, counties and states provide safe-haven to illegal aliens as sanctuary cities, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reports. What has not yet been reported is that the Catholic Church, which gave President Obama his start in “community organizing” in Chicago, has been promoting the sanctuary movement for more than two decades.

What’s more, in April, a delegation of U.S. Catholic bishops staged a church service along the U.S.-Mexico border and distributed Communion through the border fence. At the same time, Pope Francis said a “racist and xenophobic” attitude was keeping immigrants out of the United States.

No wonder the pope’s approval ratings have been falling in the United States. Overall, Gallup reports that it’s now at 59 percent, down from 76 percent in early 2014. Among conservatives, it’s fallen from 72 percent approval to 45 percent (a drop of 27 points).

“Few people are aware that this extreme left branch of the Catholic Church played a large part in birthing the sanctuary movement,” says James Simpson, author of the new book, The Red-Green Axis: Refugees, Immigration and the Agenda to Erase America.

Simpson says Catholic Charities, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and its grant-making arm, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, are prominent elements of the open borders movement.

The sanctuary movement has its roots in the attempted communist takeover of Latin America.

There is much much more, click here for more juicy information!
New readers, please note that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops is one of nine federal contractors resettling refugees in your towns and cities (on your dime!).
I’m going to have more on the suspicious activities of the USCCB tomorrow…..

1980’s Sanctuary Movement being renewed in 2014!

A large number of Central Americans in the US now entered illegally in the 1980’s thanks to the “help” of churches throughout the US where church members literally sneaked them across the border and distributed them throughout America.

In Maryland, for example, the illegal alien advocacy group—CASA de Maryland—supported today by the Governor and other Democrat elected officials with your tax dollars sprang from the original Communist-leaning Sanctuary Movement of the ’80’s.

Excellent read on what they where up to in the first Sanctuary Movement (but from the perspective of an author who condoned it). Why don’t we have many (any?) books from those who oppose?

By the way, some of those tens of thousands of Central Americans who got in here through Sanctuary ultimately were rewarded with that sham of a LEGAL immigration program—Temporary Protected Status—and are now the ‘family member’ sponsors of the Unaccompanied Alien Children (it all ties together!).

Some churches of the ‘religious Left’ are calling for a Sanctuary 2014 movement!

At least one is a repeat offender since it was a leading church of the underground railroad that shipped illegals throughout America over three decades ago.

There are several stories on the new movement involving churches in mostly Arizona and Chicago (Catholics in the 1980s) so far, but I would not be surprised to learn that some of the 24 churches offering “sanctuary” to illegal aliens are spread across America and may include the Presbyterian Church in Takoma Park, Maryland—CASA de Maryland’s original home.

See one of our posts on the original Sanctuary Movement, here.  If you really want to know more about the 1980’s Sanctuary Movement, see my many posts at Potomac Tea Party Report by clicking here.

And, here is one of several stories this week, this one at Arizona Central:

It started with a church in Tucson offering sanctuary to undocumented immigrants facing deportation.

But now dozens of faith communities across the country are inviting immigrants in the U.S. illegally to seek protection from deportation inside their walls.

They are part of a budding resurgence of the 1980s sanctuary movement, when hundreds of churches offered protection to refugees fleeing civil war in Central America.

This time around, church leaders say, they are responding to the federal government’s failure to reform the nation’s broken immigration system and counter record levels of deportations under President Barack Obama’s administration.

“Our elected leaders have failed to act,” said Alison Harrington, pastor at Southside Presbyterian Church in Tucson, which pioneered the 1980s sanctuary movement and earlier this year began taking in undocumented immigrants facing deportation.

Reader Brad alerted us to the Washington Times report from Wednesday.  And here is another at Breitbart.

CASA de Maryland witnesses violence and murder involving their people

There goes the neighborhood.

CASA de Maryland’s headquarters. Be sure to read all about the Illegal’s ACORN: http://www.aim.org/special-report/casa-de-maryland-the-illegal-immigrants-acorn/

Update:  A reader reports that according to court documents, Vargas-Salguero has a criminal record and is identified as: WHITE, CAUCASIAN, ASIATIC INDIAN, ARAB (whatever that is!).  No mention of immigration status.

The Washington Post reports that a Guatemalan regular at CASA de Maryland (the very rich and powerful government-funded advocacy and support group for illegal aliens in Maryland) was murdered on the steps of CASA’s luxurious mansion by another man who also appears to be of Hispanic (illegal?) origin. (There is no mention of the arrested man’s nationality or legal status.)  See update above.

Although they are mostly advocates for illegals we have have written about CASA at RRW on several previous occasions (there are some of those posts in this archive).

From the Washington Post:

Mynor Vargas-Salguero, 25, has been charged with first degree murder. http://www.wjla.com/articles/2014/09/mynor-vargas-salguero-arrested-in-murder-of-miguel-angel-barillas-in-langley-park-106837.html

Miguel Angel Barillas worked as a landscaper for two years after coming to the United States from Guatemala to make a better life for his family back home, including a wife, two children and a mother with cancer.

Despite the tiring labor, he regularly ended his days at the headquarters of Casa de Maryland, where the free WiFi allowed him to sit on the steps and use his cellphone to Skype with his family.

Prince George’s County Police said they found Barillas’s unconscious body early Wednesday on the steps of Casa de Maryland in Langley Park. The 32-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive: cellphone theft.

Police said Saturday that they have arrested Mynor Vargas-Salguero, 25, of the 7900 block of Riggs Road in Langley Park and charged him with first-degree murder and armed robbery. They said that Vargas-Salguero allegedly stabbed Barillas and then took his cellphone.

Vargas-Salguero is in custody.

[….]

A spokesman for Casa de Maryland, the state’s largest community organization serving Latino families, said the incident has rocked the staff and families who rely on the organization for help. The group held a candlelight vigil Wednesday to remember Barillas and call for an end to violence.

“I would see him every day,” said Robert Asprilla, a lead organizer for Casa de Maryland who spent a lot of time with Barillas. “He worked until 6 p.m., and then he would get off, eat his meal and then come to Casa headquarters, where he sat outside to call his family. . . . He was killed right where he was every day.”

CASA calls for an end to violence and more community (taxpayer-funded?) cameras and policing:

Barillas lived in a large apartment complex near the Casa de Maryland headquarters. Although there are cameras on the building, security is inadequate, Asprilla said. “The community is asking for more cameras on every building. We have cameras at Casa, but we need more. We also need more community policing.”

By the way, CASA de Maryland was born out of the ‘sanctuary movement‘ that saw churches illegally moving Central Americans into America in the early 1980’s.

Would someone let me know if you see an update with more details about the immigration status of the alleged killer.

ORR: 30,340 ‘unaccompanied minors’ already placed this year

Obama brings the Sanctuary Movement to full flower!

Thanks to reader Susan for sending us this list of how many of the illegal alien children have already been placed in your state in 2014 alone!

Former Catholic nun Darlene Nicgorski seeing her ‘work’ continued by Barack Obama. http://blogs.libraries.claremont.edu/sc/2012/07/darlene-nicgorski-papers.html

From the Office of Refugee Resettlement:

Once the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) receives a child from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), we have the responsibility to continuously seek placement options in the child’s best interest. This typically involves releasing children to sponsors. Sponsors are adults who can suitably provide for the child’s physical and mental well-being and have not engaged in any activity that would indicate a potential risk to the child.

We try to place the child with a parent, and if that is not possible, with a relative, and if that is not possible, with a family friend.

Here (below) are the top ten states where the “children” have been sent to join “sponsors.”   These are not the “children” being housed in bulk in various places around the US.  Those were identified here.

Are your school districts ready?

Darlene Nicgorski’s legacy—the Sanctuary Movement is alive and well (legal and paid for by you!).

I suspect these numbers reflect the population of Central Americans in certain states.  For example, Maryland has a huge number of Salvadorans (and other Central Americans) who got here through the Sanctuary Movement in the 1980’s.  Additionally, Maryland has the well-established illegal alien advocacy and support group—Casa de Maryland—which grew out of the Sanctuary Movement*** and is now getting government grants to help support the illegals (including the “children”) arriving in the state.

Texas:  4,280

New York:  3,347

Florida:  3,181

California:  3,150

Virginia:  2,234

Maryland:  2,205

New Jersey:  1,504

North Carolina:  1,191

Georgia:  1,154

Louisiana:  1,071

*** I encourage you to read one of several posts (and follow links) at RRW about the roots of the Central American invasion of the US that the Left calls the Sanctuary Movement.    Chicago Catholics (Saul Alinsky got his start among them) were at the heart of the movement and today Obama is finishing their work — work that began when he was a pothead college student, not interested in much other than getting high.

Remember!  The Left (Progressives, Socialists, Communists) never rest….

Here is one paragraph from my August 2011 post.

The good Catholic nun and her friends took it upon themselves to break the law and get them across the border.   I would recommend that readers with an interest in this topic read, ‘God and Caesar at the Rio Grande’ by Hillary Cunningham for more on the Religious Left and Liberation theology and how they justified breaking the law and planting the seeds of unrest we have in many American cities with the huge illegal alien population today.

Our now very extensive archive on the ‘unaccompanied minors’ invasion is here.

Invasion on the border: “religious groups” telling them to come!

It occurred to me over the last couple of days that what we are seeing is the old “Sanctuary Movement” of the 1980’s on steroids.

Update:  See also the “Childrens Crusade” with Obama, Alinsky and the “healthiest looking refugees” here, thanks to Judy.

If you don’t remember it, look back at some of my posts on the topic (here is a pretty good summary with links from 2011).   In fact, the Sanctuary Movement was responsible for the birth of the now notorious CASA de Maryland in our home state.  (See one of many posts at Potomac Tea Party Report on the “religious LEFT” and CASA, here).

One of the few books written on the “Sanctuary Movement” is a must-read for anyone trying to understand the ‘Religious Left’ and its role with illegal migration. http://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/god-and-caesar-at-the-rio-grande

In the early 1980s, churches (mostly Catholic Churches/Chicago Catholics, some protestant churches especially Presbyterians and Lutherans, and the Quakers) helped illegal Central Americans get through Mexico and then across a much better guarded border than we seem to have today.

The churches then hid the illegals and transported them to other church shelters across America, one of those was in Takoma Park, Maryland where CASA was born.  And, what a coincidence, Takoma Park is the home of the infamous Obama Labor Secretary Thomas Perez (Maryland! Watch out for Perez when Obama is no longer in office!).

Today, the flow is massive and doesn’t apparently involve dangerous night-time crossings of the border.  More importantly, today the ‘churches’ are out in the open and actually being paid by the federal government to take care of the kids (see the Office of Refugee Resettlement and its contractors, here).

But, are those churches (church contractors) actually involved in promoting and busing the illegal aliens through Mexico and to our border—-that is the $64,000 question!

Here is a news account at National Review  (Hat tip: Linda) primarily about the gang members (MS-13!) coming across now along with the “kids,”  The article contains a little nugget at the end that suggests the churches are once again involved.

Could the Catholic Church need new parishioners this badly?  Could they actually be hiring the buses and transporting the “children?”

Border Patrol officials struggling to keep up with the increasing number of minors illegally crossing the Mexican border are not turning away persons with known gang affiliations. Chris Cabrera, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, explained that a Border Patrol agent he represents helped reunite a teenage gang member with his family in the United States. Cabrera notes the young member of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), a transnational criminal gang, had no criminal record in the U.S., but asks, “If he’s a confirmed gang member in his own country, why are we letting him in here?”

The government is going to take care of us!

“I’ve heard people come in and say, ‘You’re going to let me go, just like you let my mother go, just like you let my sister go. You’re going to let me go as well, and the government’s going to take care of us,’” Cabrera says. “Until we start mandatory detentions, mandatory removals, I don’t think anything is going to change. As a matter of fact, I think it’s going to get worse.”

Radio and television commercial spots ran in Central America telling migrants to go to the US now (if anyone in America helped pay for this, they have committed treason!):

Cueto (Art Del Cueto, president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 2544 in Tucson) says when he asked a group of children about their motivation, they spoke of the “announcer on the radio” who encouraged them to head for the United States. Cueto says Central American radio, television, other media, and religious groups have all encouraged people to move north to the United States.

Did any of your tax dollars go into this campaign directly or indirectly through the federal ‘refugee’ contractors?

Here (below) for your review are the refugee contractors—the religious LEFT! (USCRI, ECDC and the IRC are secular contractors).

We know that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service are being paid to ‘service’ the “children.”  Are they involved in encouraging the mass migration of ‘unaccompanied alien minors’ as well?

And, for any of you do-gooders concerned for real refugees, thank the contractors for helping label these illegal aliens, including the gang bangers, as “refugees.”
