Somali sentenced in Montana Amtrak terror threat

Unless you are a regular reader here, you probably never heard about this incident that happened last February.  No pictures on the nightly news showing 140 Amtrak passengers walking across a frozen pond after the Somali said there was a bomb on the train.  We reported the story here in April when he plead guilty.

The guy got 15 months and apparently no federal terrorism charges.

From Minnesota Public Radio:

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – A Minnesota man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for a false threat that led to the evacuation of an Amtrak train in northern Montana in February.

Hussein Abdi Hassan, 24, of Minneapolis was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon on a federal charge of false information and hoaxes.

Prosecutors say Hassan was removed from an Amtrak train in Browning on Feb. 14 for being intoxicated and disruptive. He later told a deputy there was something dangerous in his bag and dangerous people on the train.

After the train was stopped and 140 passengers evacuated across a frozen pond, the train was searched for explosives. None were found. The threat delayed the train by 11 hours. Hassan also was ordered to pay $310,089 in restitution.  [How are they going to get this kind of money out of this guy—he will have to turn to dealing drugs or doing food stamp fraud.—ed]

No terrorism charges and no deportation here either it seems!  Obama Amnesty candidate?

Obama administration wants to “continue the conversation” on our “broken immigration system”

….blah, blah, blah!

Big problem is we have very different ideas on what exactly is broken.

This is an article I’ve had kicking around for over a week.  Nothing surprising here, but want to post it so as to not lose the link.  Earlier this month the Obama Administration had a chit-chat meeting in the White House with members of the African Diaspora.   They like that word “diaspora” because it makes it sound so what—chic, exotic, acceptable? to spread throughout the world like the Somalis have done and as reported in this Taki’s Magazine article I’ve also had kicking around in my queue for more than a few days.

From the Office of White House Public Engagement:

This past Friday (a couple of Fridays ago), White House and senior administration officials – including representatives from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of Education, and HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement – met with African community leaders to discuss immigration issues specific to the African immigrant and refugee population. The convening brought together leaders and advocates representing communities from the countries of Mauritania, Somalia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Guinea Bissau.

Cecilia Munoz, Director of White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, opened the forum and highlighted the challenges in fixing the legal immigration system and reassured the community leaders in the room of the President’s continued commitment to a legislative solution to fixing the broken immigration system.

Get your White House community organizing “tool kit.”

Stephanie Valencia, Deputy Director of the Office of Public Engagement, encouraged everyone in the room to help broaden the dialogue and elevate the debate by hosting immigration action roundtables in their own communities check out the roundtable toolkit to sponsor your own immigration roundtable.

After you have your local “immigration roundtable” turn in the names of those attending to help build for Obama’s reelection efforts (they don’t really say that, but they do want the attendees names).

For more on Obama’s “conversation” on “broadening the dialogue,” and “elevating the debate” about our “broken immigration system” go here, so we can “win the future.”  Blah, blah, blah…..

CAIR files complaint with EEOC against Electrolux in St. Cloud, MN (again)

Here we go again—religious discrimination in the workplace—prayer break problems during Ramadan upsets Somalis (sounds of snoring!).  Hat tip: Dave

From City Pages:

For the third time in eight years, Muslim employees of Electrolux, the Swedish appliance giant with a plant in St. Cloud, have complained that the company is denying them religious freedom in the work place.

In a nearly-identical complaint to one filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2010, Muslim employees claim that Electrolux is not accommodating necessary practices during the month-long Ramadan fast.

Last year, a mediation granted employees a shifting 30-minute break, to allow for a meal and prayers to break the fast. This year, the company’s cut back on the lunch break, and 150 Muslim employees say they don’t have enough time.

The employees filed their EEOC complaint through the Minnesota chapter of the Council for American Islamic Relations.

Pipe Line News cuts to the chase and tells us this is about the stealth jihad!

The company employs approximately 150 Muslim workers, whom CAIR has been taking advantage of in order to foment the type of civilizational/cultural jihad proposed by the Muslim Brotherhood and its numerous front groups.

[….]

To many, the prospect of a pressure group advocating on behalf of its constituency is unremarkable however the above outlined type of dispute reflects something far more insidious. It’s a clear demonstration of the ability of Shari’a proponents to employ the West’s numerous freedoms and rights against itself – a seditious stealth weapon – designed to weaken and eventually overturn constitutional government.

Yup!

And, its perhaps even more insidious here because my theory is that St. Cloud has been targeted and the Islamists are working with hard Left agitators. Here is a detailed post I wrote in 2010 about who the agitators are.   You will see that Electrolux is not the only company targeted by CAIR (a chicken processing factory was sued as was the school system) in St. Cloud which is in MICHELE BACHMANN’S CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT!

Type ‘St. Cloud’ into our search function and see the many posts originating from there.

Italy: if it weren’t so tragic it would be funny

I just now wrote a post about why Europe was in deep trouble as it bends over backward to accommodate Shariah Law and along comes this little story from Italy.

From adnkronos:

Treviso, 22 August (AKI) – The second wife of a longterm Muslim immigrant in Italy has reported her husband to police after authorities allowed his first wife to join the household in the northern city of Treviso from Senegal [a largely Muslim country—ed].

The 45-year-old immigrant’s second wife, who has twin daughters of eight with him reportedly cannot countenance living with him, his second wife and their two sons of 15 and 16 with his first wife.

The man, who has lived in Italy for over a decade, runs little risk of prosecution for bigamy, however.

Under Italian law, bigamist long-term immigrants are allowed to bring more than one wife to live with them in their adoptive country provided they are ‘integrated’.

Whatever the hell “integrated” means!

Immigrants send money back home, prop up world economies…..

….but what about the US economy?

Every article I see on the subject of remittances casts the practice in glowing terms—isn’t it great we are told, the immigrants work hard to send money to their family members back home.  But, doesn’t that have a negative impact on the US economy?  That money isn’t being spent here when it’s sent to El Salvador or Somalia or wherever, therefore its not generating new jobs, right?  (Remember Obama is supposedly trying to put more money into circulation to stimulate spending!).

Recently, doing research on the Sanctuary Movement, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and the large number of Salvadorans in and around Washington, DC, I came across a piece in the New York Times where Pres. George Bush was positively gleeful to extend TPS for Salvadorans here illegally so they could continue to send money to El Salvador and thus prop up that economy.  Ten years later we are still extending TPS so we can support El Salvador.

Now I see Somalis working abroad are sending a billion dollars a year back to Africa.  But, American banks want nothing to do with making sure the money doesn’t end up in the hands of terrorists.

From the Columbus Dispatch:

Thousands of Columbus Somalis send millions of dollars home each year to family members struggling to survive after two decades of bloodshed.

But banks in Ohio want no part of that business.

Banks, including Huntington National Bank, Key Bank and PNC, do not accept accounts from companies that electronically transmit money to Somalia, fearing that the money could end up in the hands of terrorists.

That upsets Hersi Suleiman, the Chicago-based regional manager of Amal USA, a money-transfer company that has outlets in Columbus and electronically transmits $3 million a year from Columbus to Somalia.

Worldwide, the Somali diaspora sends $1 billion home each year, he said.

And, you can bet that much of this money is being sent through illegal money transfer (is that what is going on in the backrooms of all those little Somali shops popping up everywhere?).

Many Somalis pulled their money out of local banks after they stopped dealing with money transmitters, Tiberi said.

Until there is a fix, Levine, the D.C. lawyer, said some people might turn to illicit, unlicensed money transmitters.

“Underground transmitters threaten the security of the United States,” he said.

Read it all and think about it—more immigrants employed and sending money abroad means the money isn’t spent at the local appliance dealer or other local retailers.
