Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society action alert to thwart "fear and hate campaign"

Update September 2:  A reader responds, here.
The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) has put out an alert to its followers to tell Congress to ignore the ‘haters’ and do not suspend the refugee resettlement program (presumably a reference to the Babin bill although they never mention his name).

Melanie Nezer
This is HIAS Washington Lobbying Office head honcho, Melanie Nezer. She is the author of that report that targets us and is presently the chair of the Refugee Council USA which is the lobbying umbrella group for the resettlement contractors and other open borders groups. http://www.rcusa.org/staff

It is no surprise that HIAS is apparently out in front (ahead of the other eight federal refugee contractors) on this, on calling anyone who has legitimate concerns about the cost and scope of our present Refugee Admissions Program ‘haters.’
Remember they were behind the $35,000 report, discussed here by Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily which sought to sic the disreputable Southern Poverty Law Center on us!  We first mentioned the report here in 2014 (LOL! they call us the “resistance.”)
This is what HIAS said in an e-mail to its followers yesterday (emphasis is mine):

Will you send a message to your Member of Congress to ask them to stand up for refugee resettlement in the United States?

Even in the face of one of the worst refugee crises in recent history, there are people in our own country who are spreading fear and hatred. And unfortunately, that rhetoric is reaching policy-makers on both local and national levels.

Since its founding, the United States has been a place of refuge and protection for people who have fled conflict, persecution, and some of the worst violence in the world. With our deep historical and ethical connection to the plight of refugees, the Jewish community is coming together to make sure that our elected officials understand our commitment to the protection of refugees.

We need your help. Send a message to your Member of Congress today so that the voices of compassion and empathy can overpower those of hate.

A similar message was sent out earlier this month from at least one of HIAS local ‘affiliates.’
They direct supporters to their website where a sample text is provided for activists.  This is one bit of that text:

As your constituent, I urge you to oppose any efforts that aim to suspend refugee resettlement in the U.S.

Worried are they?
Give them more to worry about—sign the petition!
By the way, I found it curious that the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society re-branded itself a while back and dropped the word ‘Hebrew’ from its name.  Is it because there are only a few Jewish refugees arriving in the US now and they wanted to remain relevant (and get their federal grant $$$) by bringing in large numbers of Muslim refugees?  Here in 2014, Director of Advocacy, Nezer, says HIAS wants 75,000 Syrians admitted over 5 years.  94% of the Syrians arriving so far are Muslim.  Can you say ‘death wish!’

Revolving door and one big happy family! This is Bob Carey, the new director of the ORR. He was previously a VP at the International Rescue Committee. And, what a coincidence, over at the State Department, the Asst. Secretary of State for PRM, Anne Richard, was also a VP at the International Rescue Committee. Gee! Do you think federal contractor, the IRC headed by Brit David Miliband, might have a bit of an inside track to the federal agencies that feed them?

The US Refugee Resettlement Program is administered by two different agencies of the federal government.  The US State Department admits refugees and contracts with the nine major federal resettlement contractors (they call them VOLAGS short for Voluntary Agencies which they definitely are not!) to distribute them.
The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in the Dept. of Health and Human  Services is responsible for making sure that myriad grants get out to the contractors and their subcontractors and to manage much of the other day-to-day operation being dictated from Washington.
The ORR has produced a handy map.  When you click on your state, contact information pops up for the bureaucrats who are responsible in your state.
You will see some states are Wilson-Fish states which means they are run pretty much with no state government involvement.  Go here to learn more about Wilson-Fish.

Regarding my reference to David Miliband in the photo caption—Miliband is the first resettlement contractor head honcho to push for Obama to admit 65,000 Syrians before his term ends.
September is an important month in the resettlement process, first because the feds and their contractors are scrambling to bring in as many refugees as possible in hopes of meeting the 70,000 refugee target that Obama set last year.
And, because Obama, by the end of September, will submit his Annual Determination Letter (this one for 2015) to Congress (where it has been rubber-stamped each year) in which he will lay out the goal for FY2016 which begins on October 1.  Watch for a huge jump in the number of Syrians to be admitted and distributed to your towns in the coming fiscal year.
We will be watching to see if any Member of Congress or US Senator says anything about Obama’s picks for 2016.

'Germany loves refugees' say demonstrators…..

……but the Dutch and the Finns are not so thrilled.  My suggestion: send them all to Germany where we are told 60% of Germans welcome the migrants.

Invasion of Europe news…..

From The Guardian:

Thousands of people took to the streets of the German city of Dresden on Saturday to send a message of welcome to refugees after a string of violent anti-migrant protests in the region.

Led by protesters holding a huge banner that read “Prevent the pogroms of tomorrow today”, the crowds marched peacefully through the eastern city under the watch of police in riot gear.

“Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here,” they chanted.

Police said 1,000 people took part in the protest, which was called by the Anti-Nazi Alliance, while organisers put the numbers at 5,000.

[….]

Public opinion is largely behind her [Chancellor Angela Merkel–ed] with 60% of Germans polled by public broadcaster ZDF saying that Europe’s biggest economy is capable of hosting the asylum seekers.

Maybe Merkel isn’t mad, maybe a majority of Germans are!
Now see what is happening in the Netherlands, here and in Finland here.  Load up the buses and send them to Germany!
BTW, the EU has called an emergency meeting for mid-September to discuss the migrant crisis, here.
Our ‘Invasion of Europe’ archive is here.

Sign the petition! Demand local approval for refugee resettlement

It has been just over 24 hours since we told you about the petition, here, to demand transparency from the federal government and a local role in decision-making involving the “seeding” of refugees to towns large and small across America.
I am happy to report that as of this minute there are already 695 who have signed the petition and a quick look at the interactive map reveals that it looks like most US states are represented, plus we have 4 who have signed it elsewhere in the world—2 in Europe and one each in Australia and South Africa.  So, for our readers abroad, please consider signing the petition as well!
(If you click on the little circles the map expands to allow you to see how many from each state have signed already.)
Go here to see who has signed (you can remain anonymous if that makes you more comfortable), but please consider signing.
The federal refugee contractors are getting worried!  How do I know, come back later! I am out of time right now to post more.  ***Update*** HIAS goes on the attack!

Twin Falls, ID: Article tells us why you must demand answers BEFORE refugees begin arriving

….of course the trick will be trying to figure that out!
Twin Falls, Idaho has developed a very active and competent ‘Pocket of Resistance’ in spite of the local media’s effort to denigrate opponents of the UN/US State Department plan to further seed the community with third world refugees.  This round of controversy began in earnest back in April when the local resettlement contractor bragged to the media that Syrian (mostly Muslim) refugees were coming to Idaho.

Jessica Lilley
Jessica Lilley, USCRI field representative, obviously traveled to Twin Falls from USCRI’s Arlington, Virginia headquarters to help organize against the growing ‘pocket of resistance’ that has developed in Twin Falls. Photo: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/jessica-lilley/15/308/3b0

You will have to read the whole article from Friday, here at MagicValley.com for details on the latest news.  I can’t post much of it or the editor will have his lawyers send me another letter, but there is one important thing I want you to see.
First, here are the opening paragraphs:

TWIN FALLS • A refugee center in Twin Falls isn’t likely to go away even if the College of Southern Idaho stops sponsoring its program, officials say.

A local group — the Committee to End the CSI Refugee Center — wants a measure to shutter the center on ballots by May, says the group’s leader, Rick Martin, a widely known right-wing activist [LOL! bias alert!—ed]. They also want to recruit candidates to run for the college’s board of trustees in November 2016 with the goal of phasing out the center.

The group submitted its measure this week to the Twin Falls County Attorney, a preliminary step before the group can begin gathering signatures to get it on the ballot.

Then this!  Once they get a program up and running in your town, it becomes almost impossible to shutter it later because they are in the process of admitting family members of the first group they brought in.  The contractors are usually gleeful to shove that bit of news into critics faces.

Jessica Lilley, a program officer with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants [USCRI—ed], addressed the topic Tuesday during a meeting with the Magic Valley Refugee Advocates, a group formed this summer to support the local program.

“You already have a community of refugees here” with family members still oversees, she said, and the U.S. Department of State will want an agency in Twin Falls to fill the gap as the relatives of refugees resettle in the United States.

She goes on to threaten that they will just drop them off in neighboring towns, but they will end up in Twin Falls anyway.

This is why any of you wondering if you might be a target for refugee resettlement need to do your sleuthing and demand a public discussion of the plan coming from Washington BEFORE refugees arrive.

Remember you have a right to know what the UN/US State Department has in the works for your community and they will not be giving your town any advance warning!  It will be up to you to expose the plan.

How might you learn that refugees are (secretly!) destined for your town or city?
First, go here and see if you are located anywhere near the 190 resettlement offices.  If you are anywhere within a hundred miles of one of the government contractor offices, your town is fair game.
If you know anyone in local elected government, call them now and ask if they have heard any news about refugees coming (the feds are getting desperate for fresh territory!).  By law, the resettlement contractor is supposed to “consult” local elected officials, but it might be the most cursory of contacts.
Then you need to check with two local agencies—the health department and the school system—the first two places, especially right now as schools open, where some local official might have the inside scoop.
Another tip-off might be the soon-to-be open new industry, such as a meat packing plant, which wants to employ cheap immigrant laborers.  Federal contractors like USCRI work closely with not just manufacturing type industries or the food industry, but with the hotel industry as well.  They like to give the impression that this is all about ‘humanitarianism,’ but it isn’t.  That is just the cover! Frankly it is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY and about changing America demographically.
For background on Twin Falls, go here.  And, to contact Mr. Martin, see the website, Magic Valley Refugee Watch, here.
For more on USCRI….
See USCRI’s website here.  The organization is headed by Lavinia Limon who was Bill Clinton’s Director of the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement.  Limon is one of several contractors who have moved in and out of government over their careers resettling refugees.  If you want to know more about her, click here, for our Limon archive.  One of my favorite Limon posts is this one from 2008 when the US State Department did shutter the USCRI subcontractor office in Waterbury, CT for not taking good care of the refugees they had been paid to take care of!
