Germany: Seven million dollar hotel for migrants; Somalis ungrateful for German hospitality

Invasion of Europe continues as Germany falls all over itself trying to convince the world what good people they are!

The first part of this story is bad enough—opulent hotel bought by city of Cologne (site of those riots about ten days ago) for a refugee shelter for mostly Muslim asylum seekers.  But it is ten paragraphs down before we get to the part that should make your head explode!

From NBC News (emphasis is mine):

COLOGNE, Germany — With its wood-paneled piano bar and luxurious spa, the four-star Bonotel assures visitors paying up to $300 per night that it meets the “international standard of a first-class hotel.”

But starting next year, the hotel’s marble-and-mirrored lobby and “quiet, peaceful ambience” will play host not to indulgent travelers but desperate asylum seekers.

Germany’s fourth-largest city spent almost $7 million to buy the Bonotel this summer. Its doors will soon be shut and its 93 opulent rooms filled with asylum seekers, a move underscoring how Europe’s economic powerhouse has been overwhelmed by an influx of people seeking a better life amid a continent-wide border crisis.

According to U.N. figures, Germany received 109,600 applications for asylum last year — the most of any country in the world. The U.S. was second, with 84,400.

Read on and learn that German employees will be losing their hotel jobs.

Unbelievable!  Somali asylum-seeker who came illegally to Europe across the Mediterranean has the audacity to say that the German government isn’t giving him enough stuff!  And, WTH, look at the medical costs he is foisting on the German taxpayer.

Mubarak, a Somali refugee who like others at the center [a different center in Cologne as the opulent hotel is not yet open—ed] declined to give his last name citing fears of retribution from German authorities for criticizing them publicly, told NBC News that conditions are so poor he has become disillusioned with his new home.

“I wanted to get to a place where I could start a different life,” he said, recounting his 18-month journey through African deserts and a treacherous voyage across the Mediterranean Sea — a route which has claimed the lives of more than 3,200 people this year. “But I don’t believe in Germany any more. The people in Germany are good to us, but we need more help.” [So if they survived the illegal boat trip across the Mediterranean they somehow deserve more welfare handouts?—ed]

He shows a doctor’s note from when he arrived in Cologne. It confirms that he suffered from tuberculosis, hepatitis B and post-traumatic stress disorder. It also states that because of illnesses, his living conditions should be improved.

But nothing has changed. Months later, he still shares a room with three others. Four metal bed frames with thin mattresses line the wall. Another stands upright in the corner, in case someone else needs to sleep here, although there is barely any floor space left. The communal bathrooms are at the end of the hallway.  [Oh, boo-hoo!—ed]

“We live like animals, not like people,” said Maruf, a Somali roommate.

Just watch, the next thing we know Mubarak and Maruf will be given a room at the Bonotel!

Me thinks it’s time for another demonstration in Cologne.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa: Rwandan refugee charged with naturalization fraud

The next time you hear one of the advocates for refugee resettlement claim that the screening is very thorough, remember this case!

I think one of our problems (well, the do-gooders’ problems) is that we (they) can’t wrap their minds around the incredible lies refugee wannabes are willing to tell.    See all of our posts on lying (and other criminal) Rwandan refugees by clicking here.

From The Gazette (Hat tip: Joanne).  Emphasis is mine:

Can you believe it? Ken Ngombwa allegedly lied to get into the US as a refugee.

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man who is originally from Rwanda was charged Tuesday in federal court with naturalization fraud.

Ken Ngombwa, 54, is charged with one count of unlawfully procuring or attempting to procure naturalization or citizenship; one count of procuring citizenship to which he was not entitled; one count of conspiracy to unlawfully procure citizenship; and one count of making a materially false statement to agents of the United States, according to an indictment.

The indictment said Ngombwa attempted to obtain citizenship for himself and family members who accompanied him to the United States from Rwanda from March 1998 through Nov. 19, 2004.

Ngombwa and others allegedly made a number of false statements to U.S. immigration authorities, who decided to grant Ngombwa refugee status and permanent resident alien status, which permitted him to become a citizen.

According to the indictment, Ngombwa claimed he was the brother of Faustin Twagiramungu, a former prime minister of Rwanda.

Ngombwa appeared in court Tuesday and was released on bond. He was ordered to surrender any passport or travel documents, stay in Linn County, have no contact with potential witnesses and undergo a mental health evaluation.

If convicted, Ngombwa faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a $1 million fine. He also faces loss of citizenship. [So we get to pay for him in prison for 30 years?—ed]

Ngombwa also faces second-degree arson and insurance fraud charges in Linn County District Court. He is accused of setting multiple fires in his home in July 2013 and giving his insurance provider false information about the fire.

So will he and his extended family be deported?

Be sure to visit The Gazette for the arson story involving Ngombwa from earlier this year.

I think the US State Department should be responsible for paying for all of the legal costs associated with THEIR mistake.

Check out this story about how much the lying Rwandan cost us in New Hampshire a few years back.

I know it is still our tax dollars no matter what federal or state jurisdiction foots the bill, but I would still like to see these criminal cases paid for out of the US State Department’s budget.  Maybe they could even reimburse Iowa, Linn County and the city of Cedar Rapids for anything this liar cost the local and state government, even all the welfare they probably are still receiving.

New Somalis arrive in Minneapolis in droves after 2008 dip; end up in homeless shelters

I didn’t mean to make this Somali Sunday but here are our two other posts just this morning (here and here) on the impact of Somalis arriving in extremely large numbers in the US right now as part of the Obama Administration’s increasing focus on Somali refugees (Syrian and Iraqi Muslims feature prominently too).

This is some really good reporting at the Minneapolis Star Tribune yesterday by reporter MILA KOUMPILOVA .  Hat tip: ‘pungentpeppers’

As I began reading the news, I was expecting to see no information about why the Somali pipeline to America came to a grinding halt in 2008—the discovery that a large number (thousands) of Somalis had lied on their application to come to America to join family members who were found to be not related at all to the applicants.

I am happy to report it is all here.

US State Department: We want them to stay where we have allocated money through a contractor for them. They want to be with their own people in Minnesota. Nevertheless, we will keep bringing them in! Photo: http://www.c-span.org/video/?309771-1/terrorists-refugee-programs

The article also sheds light on how Somalis resettled in other cities are hightailing-it to Minneapolis to be with their own kind of people (something we would be vilified for should we admit we want to be with our own kind of people).

As they move too quickly to Minnesota they leave behind their financial support (welfare set-up) that comes through the original refugee resettlement contractor.

We won’t be able to highlight as much of this as we would like, because it is jam-packed with information, but here are a few nuggets that interested me.  Be sure to read the whole article yourself!

Star Tribune (emphasis mine) setting the stage:

A week after the United States government resettled them in Connecticut this summer, Nur Ali and his wife, Mahado Mohamed, had decided: They were moving to Minnesota.  [Lucky Connecticut!—ed]

Tales of the state’s large Somali community had intrigued them back in the Kenyan refugee camp where they had married and had five children. Now, a Somali man they met in Hartford told them all recent arrivals head to Minnesota, home of “Little Mogadishu.”

After a major dip in 2008, the yearly numbers of new Somali refugees in Minnesota have rebounded steadily. The number of Somalis resettled in the state has more than tripled in four years. As resettlements nationally have picked up, more Somalis are also arriving here after brief stints in other states — often trading early support from resettlement agencies for the company of more fellow Somalis.

“You tend to go somewhere you can connect,” said Mohamud Noor, the head of the Confederation of Somali Community in Minnesota. “Before people even arrive from Africa, they know they are coming to Minnesota.”

But without the Twin Cities family ties of earlier arrivals, these newcomers often can’t lean as heavily on longer-term Somali residents. Mary’s Place, a Minneapolis homeless shelter, has become ground zero for families like Ali and Mohamed’s. Somali participation in the state’s public food assistance program doubled in the past five years. Meanwhile, the Minneapolis School District, its Somali student enrollment up 70 percent since 2011, launched eight classrooms with instruction in both English and Somali to help newcomers catch up.   [So who pays for all this?—you do!—ed]

State Department discovers massive fraud in family reunification program for Somalis!

Ali and Mohamed are part of a new wave of Somali refugees. Until 2008, the state resettled only refugees reuniting with family here.

But that year, DNA tests showed only about 20 percent of applicants in a refugee family reunification program, most of them from Africa, were actually related to their stateside sponsors. The program was suspended, even as Somalis argued a broader definition of family was as much a factor as fraud. The number of new Somali arrivals plummeted, from a high of more than 3,200 in 2006 to 180 in 2009.

Meanwhile, more stringent background checks for refugees in 2010 snarled the application process. Larry Bartlett, the U.S. Refugee Admissions program director, says the streamlining of security checks since and the resumption of the family reunification program in 2012 led to the recent increase in Somali arrivals — a trend he expects to continue in the next few years.

Somalis move even though their benefits don’t follow!

When these refugees move too soon after arriving in a different state, they get cut off from resettlement agencies there responsible for finding homes and jobs for them. Noor, whose group tries to assist newcomers with navigating the transition, says the federal government needs to do more to discourage this early migration. At the U.S. State Department, Bartlett says staff members strive to honor refugees’ host city preference. Some refugees even sign a document affirming they are going to the city where they want to stay.

“The problem with moving quickly is that the benefits don’t always follow you,” Bartlett said. “We really try to impress that upon them.”  [So, does the contractor still get its cut of each refugee’s allocation?—ed]

US Census figures way off for Somali population in the US?

A comment on one of those discussion boards just caught my eye—the statement was that Somalis are the least educated of the African immigrants living in America.  I laughed out loud when I considered how clever they are at schemes to benefit themselves—like the housing voucher scheme in Cheyenne I just wrote about.  Who needs a formal education when you know how to make it without working too hard.

The discussion thread led to this story about the US Census Bureau report from early October about the African population in America which included this graph:

I went to have a look at the Census report and followed a link to this information: The Census Bureau says that 76,205 Somali immigrants live in America.  See Report and Supplemental tables here.

However, we have documented almost 120,000 admitted in the Refugee Resettlement Program alone, click here for that data. Our data doesn’t include all those who are here through other legal immigration programs or those who have entered illegally.

LOL! We know a bunch have left the country to join jihadists but not enough to account for that great a difference.

So, why the discrepancy?  Did the Census Bureau not find about 45,000 or more of them?

Could Congolese refugees bring Ebola to America?

That is a possibility presented by Aaron Klein writing at World Net Daily this week, here.  Hat tip: several readers.

We briefly noted the fact that Ebola, although supposedly a different strain than the one making the news, is present in DR Congo.

And, we are bringing a huge number of Congolese refugees (DR Congo) to America at the UNHCR’s urging—50,000 by 2019, see our post yesterday.

We admitted 4,540 Congolese refugees to the US in FY2014 which ended on Sept. 30th, 2014  (go here, map is incorrect, scroll down to table).

However, I think a greater long-term threat to America is what we reported yesterday—Congolese women in need of mental health treatment raising children in some impoverished home in your town or city.

Remember readers! Refugee health treatment is the responsibility of your local health departments!  See our health issues category here for what other diseases and health problems (including mental health) you are responsible for.

From World Net Daily which is becoming the go-to major internet news source*** for refugee news (something we are very grateful to see):

Since an outbreak of Ebola hit the Democratic Republic of the Congo in July, the Obama administration has brought into the U.S. at least 1,900 refugees from the disease-stricken nation, WND has learned.

Required medical screening for refugees may not detect all diseases. The mandatory blood and urine tests for all refugees would not detect Ebola.

The strain of Ebola found in the Congo is slightly different from the virus that has been ravaging West Africa. Researchers have concluded the Congolese outbreak is not connected to the epidemic in West Africa.

The U.S. refugee program this year is on pace to resettle 70,000 citizens, including a limit for the fiscal year of 2014 of 14,000 from Africa, with the State Department giving priority to Congolese refugees.

Since July, at least 1,900 Congolese refugees have been resettled within the U.S., according to statistics provided by the State Department.

A report from the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration shows 944 refugees were admitted from the Congo in July; 628 in August and 338 in September, for a total of 1,910 Congolese refugees.

The exact number of arrivals from the Congo for this month are not yet published. However, the total number of October arrivals so far from the region of Africa, according to the State Department, is 934, with most likely coming from the Congo.

The Congo has had its own outbreak of Ebola that started in late-July reportedly after a hunter brought home an infected bush animal carcass. Since then, 49 people have died in the Congo.

There is much more, read it all.
