Minnesota Somalis attempt to explain why their community is so attractive to terror recruiters

Update: It isn’t just Somalis in Minnesota, but apparently UK Somalis don’t feel they have enough taxpayer-funded goodies either as two teenaged Somali girls run off to join ISIS.

Powerline blog titles its post—Somalis say: Show us the Money—and then blogger Scott Johnson analyzed a couple of recent news articles where local Somali leaders say they need more night basketball.  Just kidding on the basketball thing, but do your remember Clinton pushing taxpayer funded basketball as a way to solve the crime crisis in black communities—in other words it was all about stuff, about more “programs”.

Somali activist Ilhan Omar: Officials must invest in anti-recruitment programs for Somali youths. We told you about community organizer Omar back in February. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/02/19/somalis-want-to-govern-minneapolis-but-is-this-how-to-gain-the-confidence-of-the-electorate/

They don’t have enough to entertain the youths so the youths take up with Al-Shabaab or ISIS to while away the time.

Here is how Johnson begins his post and suggests maybe we should put a halt to all Somali immigration (refugee resettlement which is how most are getting in here).   Johnson is just thinking too logically!

We’ve got a problem in the Twin Cities that is based in our large and still growing population of Somali immigrants. Somalis have been immigrating to Minnesota for more than twenty years now. They have taken advantage of all the services that our state and local institutions offer. They have been welcomed with open arms, in Minnesota’s characteristic style.

Yet Minnesota’s Somali community — a/k/a “Minnesotans” — is the most fertile ground in the United States for the recruitment of terrorists by foreign terrorist organizations in Africa and the Middle East. We are concerned that they may choose to return “home” to Minnesota if they don’t get killed first. What is to be done?

Aside from monitoring imams and mosques, the first thought that occurs to me is freezing Somali immigration to the United States. I think this would give us the opportunity to get a handle on the problem while assuring that we don’t needlessly aggravate it.

[….]

In short, I take it from the two articles devoted to the forum that we don’t have a clue and that nothing useful is going to be done.

Read it all.   I am so glad to see that other bloggers and the media in general are beginning to report on this lunacy.

Of course the US State Department did slow the flow of Somalis to America back in 2008 when they discovered that tens of thousands got in here fraudulently, but the resettlement now is going full steam ahead.  The feds and the contractors have too much money at stake in the resettlement process, not to mention the fact that they are cowards!

As of August 31st (11 months into the 2014 fiscal year) we have allowed 8,278 Somalis into the US through refugee resettlement.  That is approaching the large numbers we saw in three consecutive years under George W. Bush, here.

Minnesota got 977 of the 8,278 Somalis resettled in 11 months of fy2014 (here).

American Jews beat up on Israel for not allowing African migrants to stay

African protesters at US Embassy in Tel Aviv in January demanding to be allowed to stay in Israel. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/01/07/waiting-for-the-unhcr-to-blast-saudi-arabia-as-they-did-israel-yesterday/

Whew!

This article in the Jewish Times featuring Jewish leaders in Maryland leading a campaign against Israel on the issue of asylum for tens of thousands of African migrants who got into Israel illegally is just too much.  I’ll let you read it yourself.

We have covered the issue extensively in our category ‘Israel and refugees.’

The gist of it is that tens of thousands of African migrants that many believe are in Israel as economic migrants (not legitimate refugees) are seeking asylum claiming they will be persecuted if returned to Africa.

The issue has split the country down the usual lines—Leftists want the Africans to be allowed to stay and accuse Israel of being “unwelcoming” and those on the Right believe that Israel will ultimately die if allowed to be overrun by the third world.

BTW, Israel is paying some of the illegal migrants to return to Africa.

Here is the whole story (albeit slanted toward the American Left) from the Jewish Times.

You should know that the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, one of the nine major US refugee resettlement contractors is also bashing Israel on the issue.

Another beheading threat (this time, just a threat) in Oklahoma involves Kenyan immigrant

Or at least he says he is Kenyan.  We get a lot of “refugees” and other legal immigrants who pass through Kenya, but are not really Kenyans.  We don’t know how this one—Jacob Mugambi Muriithi—got here, but thought this needed to be posted.

3,972 supposed refugees came to us through Kenya this fiscal year alone.  Kenyans themselves are not considered eligible for refugee resettlement or asylum because their country is relatively stable (except of course if you are the Aunt and Uncle of President Obama!).  Through what legal program did this Muslim get here?

From The Oklahoman (hat tip: Julia):

In a bizarre coincidence, a fired Oklahoma City nursing home employee was arrested Friday after a co-worker reported he threatened to cut her head off.

Jacob Mugambi Muriithi

Jacob Mugambi Muriithi, 30, is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a terrorism complaint. His bail is set at $1 million.

“We take these threats very seriously,” Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said.

The arrest came on the same day police in Moore revealed fired Vaughan Foods worker Alton Alexander Nolen beheaded a co-worker after he was fired Thursday. Nolen is a Muslim convert.

Muriithi was identified as a native of Kenya who is living in Oklahoma City. He worked at Bellevue Nursing Home in northwest Oklahoma City, police reported.

The co-worker reported Muriithi threatened her while they were both working at the nursing home Sept. 19, a police detective wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit.

The woman was not identified.

She said Muriithi identified himself as a Muslim and said he “represented ISIS and that ISIS kills Christians,” the detective told a judge in the affidavit. The two had not worked together before.

If anyone finds out more about Muriithi’s immigration status, let us know!

By the way, we do take a lot of refugees with mental health issues as we have documented in our “health issues category.”

Open a refugee resettlement office in your town and one day be like Eden Prairie, MN

Diverse to say the least!

Two of Eden Prairie’s diverse citizens. From a story in March where the Somali refugee duo severely beat a man at a local fitness center apparently for no reason. http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/24949729/2-charged-in-eden-prairie-lifetime-fitness-locker-room-beating

In just ten years the school system there has become 36% immigrant—mostly Somali and Latino—and now requires “cultural brokers” for both groups so as to smooth their integration into the system.

Eden Prairie, MN is 12 miles from Minneapolis (enough said!).

This story is mostly about the Somali man who has been hired as the “communications specialist.”  But, what interested me was the list of languages the diverse student body brought to the school system.  Last year the system had 61 languages and now it’s 70!  Can your town afford this?

From the Sun Current:

Eden Prairie Schools have 70 languages spoken by families in the district (English included). This is an increase from 61 last year. The top 10 are in numerical order:

1. English

2. Somali

3. Spanish

4. Vietnamese

5. Hindi

6. Mandarin

7. Telegu

8. Bengali

9. Russian

10. Arabic

Need a refugee lawyer?

As I was looking around for more information on Eden Prairie I got a chuckle when I saw they have TEN “qualified refugee lawyers” in the town of approximately 62,000 residents.   Who says this hasn’t become an industry!  How many qualified refugee lawyers do you have in your town?  Maybe this should be the new gauge—when refugee lawyers move in, it is time to move out!

Minnesota Department of Health tracks refugee health!

Everyone of you from Minnesota should add your name to the mailing list for the Quarterly report on Refugee Health for the state.  See the latest report here.   Note there is a link to sign up for the newsletter.   I think you will be surprised by some of the information there, especially as it relates to TB.  But, the newsletter also has some facts about your refugee populations and how many have come in a given quarter.

For new readers, read ‘Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis.’

About the photo:  I was just scouting out crimes in Eden Prairie and came across this one very quickly.  I didn’t bother to look for others.  I wonder do those “qualified refugee lawyers” do refugee crime cases as well?  Here is most of what one commenter named ‘Red’ said regarding this story:

Locally, they are from Eden Prairie & Sshakopee, by way of Somalia. I am ashamed to admit I was once a supporter of their community integration & diversification. Then I was victimized by way of physical intimidation. Twice. On two separate occasions by men & women both. Now my heart is cold. Instead of taking the kids out, I study self defense.

Governor still “exploring” refugee program for Wyoming as Somalis move in

And, this time he has a bigger megaphone—The Wall Street Journal which is well-known for its position that businesses need cheap immigrant labor.

Republican Governor Matt Mead wrote to the Office of Refugee Resettlement last September inviting them to set up shop in Wyoming.

Sheesh, I thought they had enough sense in Wyoming to bring Mead’s misguided plan to a halt!

Remember it was one year ago that Republican Governor Matt Mead wrote to the federal government and invited them in to begin a resettlement program for the only state in the Nation wise enough (until now) to stay out of it!

And, get this, these Somali women arriving in Wyoming as secondary migrants are not shy about saying, if they don’t get more “services” they are moving on to a state that is more generous!

Before I launch into the story, readers need to know there is a big difference between secondary migrants who have already been hooked up with their social services in another state by one of the nine major federal resettlement contractors or their 300 plus subcontractors.  They have gotten their job counseling, their kids enrolled in schools, their welfare goodies, their health care.

The secondary migrants have chosen, in our free country! to move on after being acclimated (at taxpayer expense) in another state.  That does not mean we have to follow them with goodies (holding their hands) as they shop for new cities and states over the years.

However, setting up a resettlement office in Wyoming, is a whole other matter.  It means that refugees will be resettled in Wyoming directly from Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

By the way, check out the statistics here (page 9), according to the Office of Refugee Resettlement, zero secondary migrants entered Wyoming in 2013 (so much for their statistics!).

From The Wall Street Journal (hat tip: ‘pungentpeppers’):

CHEYENNE, Wyo.—Draped in a brightly hued robe and veil, Amal Hassan certainly stands out from the locals as she walks along the outskirts of this high-plains city, pickup trucks rumbling by.

Somali refugees such as Ms. Hassan are becoming a more common sight here in the nation’s least populous state, the only one without a refugee-resettlement program. Such initiatives provide social and financial services to refugees such as Ms. Hassan, 29 years old, who were admitted legally into the U.S.

Now, with a hundred or so Somali refugees having arrived in Wyoming’s capital city in recent years, the state is wrestling with whether to create a resettlement program, which in other states is typically run jointly with the federal Administration for Children and Families. The idea, however, has stirred sharp criticism from some people, who have called and emailed state officials, expressing concern that crowds of refugees would flock to Wyoming, stretch resources and spread disease.

The issue repeatedly came up during last month’s Republican primary for November’s gubernatorial election, with one of Gov. Matt Mead’s opponents saying refugees would cause problems for Wyoming. The governor, who won the primary, said his administration is merely exploring a resettlement program.

“Unfortunately people don’t understand or deliberately distort what’s happening,” Mr. Mead said recently on a local radio station, dispelling a rumor that the state planned to set up refugee camps.  [By continuing to use those inaccurate words—refugee camps—Mead is able to ridicule and denigrate critics.—ed]

Mr. Mead has said that refugees were coming to Wyoming regardless, and the state needed to know which services they were using. [You can see what welfare they are tapping without inviting more in!—ed].

Here the WSJ didn’t find the latest numbers—we have them here.  In FY 2014 we have brought into the US 8,278 Somalis (in 11 months). The federal government and its contractors are scrambling to find new territory in which to resettle them as ‘pockets of resistance’ have developed in some states—thus the Wyoming push!

According to federal data, 4,915 Somali refugees arrived in the U.S. during the 2012 fiscal year, the most recent information available. That figure represents the fourth highest total of refugees from any country to enter the U.S. that year, behind Bhutan, Myanmar and Iraq.

Housing is easier to get, but not enough welfare help in Wyoming!

Ms. Hassan, who lives in Cheyenne with her two young sons and is divorced, said she is considering leaving Wyoming if she can’t receive more help.

Read it all.

The Governor says he is still studying the idea, but this is what he wrote to the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement last September (looks like an outright invite to the feds to me!):

If you live in Wyoming, you need to get on the governor or end up like Maine!  Or worse, Minnesota!  Never mind ‘Little Mogadishu’ Minneapolis, ask the people of St. Cloud, Minnesota what happened when a Lutheran federal contractor opened a resettlement office there!
