Buffalo,NY: Another food stamp fraud bust (flipping the bird to America!)

Ahmed AlshamiI guess I’m going to have to go back and report on food stamp trafficking from time to time (until I can convince some real reporters that this is a huge story across America!).
Stories like the one I posted from Baltimore just a few days ago are all over the place.  And, btw, that one posted on August 30th (click here) became the top post for all of August here at RRW.
So if you liked that one, you will really like this one.
Muslim store owner arrested for ripping you (infidels) off to the tune of $2 million and then his wife and daughter flip you the bird—literally!

Wife to camera:  “F&*& you. F&*& America.”

From WKBW Buffalo (hat tip: Paula):

BUFFALO, N.Y.(WKBW) – The owner of a Buffalo deli is being held on $2 million bail for welfare fraud charges.

Ahmed Alshami, 37, is charged with criminal possession of public benefit cards, misuse of food stamps and criminal use of a public benefit card for defrauding the welfare system.

Alshami is the owner and operator of IGA Express Mart, a corner deli at 271 Ludington in the City of Buffalo.

According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, between October 9, 2014 and March 21, 2016 Alshami is accused of buying EBT (food stamp) cards from people willing to trade them for cash. He usually paid people half of what the cards are worth.

[….]

Alshami pleaded not guilty to the misuse of food stamps and burglary charges.

Outside of court on Tuesday, his daughter flipped off our cameras while his wife said, “Are you happy now? F&*& you. F&*& America.”

Now here is the video of the report:

The Welcoming America leftwingers love to tell warm and fuzzy stories about immigrants, but you know we have stories too!

And for our extensive (story) archive on the refugee ‘welcoming’ city of Buffalo, click here. For many years worth of food stamp fraud bust stories go here.
I don’t know if the alleged crook here is a refugee, but since most refugees get food stamp benefits he probably had a lot of ‘customers’ for his business.

HUGE! Food stamp fraud bust in Baltimore, check out the names, see a pattern?

Update: Be sure to see the even juicier story from Buffalo. Muslim convenience store owner charged with ripping us off to the tune of $2 million and his wife and daughter flip the bird to news camera (to America)!  You can’t make this up!  Click here.
I haven’t written about food stamp fraud in awhile, but darn it I wish someone would!
If you don’t know how trafficking in EBT benefits works, I’m going to send you to dozens and dozens of posts I’ve written on the subject over the years, click here.
Thanks to my friend Diana for bringing this gigantic one to my attention.

Mayor Rawlings-Blake with her pals at Islamic Relief USA. She has been a leading proponent of bringing more Muslim refugees to Baltimore.

From CBS Baltimore: 14 arrests and $16 MILLION fraudulently obtained by trafficking in food stamps.  Are these stores part of Mayor Rawlings-Blake’s highly touted immigrant entrepreneur project?
Here are the names of  those arrested (see a pattern?):

Walayat Khan, 36, of Reisterstown
Barbara Ann Duke, 50, of Owings Mills
Shaheen Tasewar Hussain, 60, of Ellicott City

Kelym Novas Perez, 34, of Baltimore
Jose Remedio Gonzalez Reyes, 50, of Baltimore
Mulazam Hussain, 54, of Windsor Mill
Mahmood Hussain Shah, 57, of Catonsville
Muhammad Rafiq, 58, of Reisterstown

Mohammad Shafiq, 50, of Gwynn Oak, Maryland; and his daughter,
Alia Shaheen, 24, of Baltimore

Mohammad Irfan, 59, of Nottingham
Muhammad Sarmad, 40, of Nottingham
Rizwan Pervez, 38, of Essex
Kassem Mohammad Hafeed, a/k/a Kassam Mohammad Hafeed, 51, of Baltimore

I swear this is connected to the Investor visa program and it makes me wonder if they have training programs abroad in how to buy convenience stores in the US and rip off the dumb (infidel) Americans!
How much do you want to bet some of your $16 million left the country!

When do-gooders don't do good!

Two stories I want to bring to your attention were posted over the last couple of days that call in to question whether the resettlement industry (both the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement and its NGO contractors) is even taking proper care of the migrants they are responsible for.
So the next time you hear the pleas of government-funded bleeding heart humanitarians saying that we need to bring more poor souls to America, remember these reports and know that some refugees are very sorry they came!
[Congress could tweek the Refugee Admissions Program if it had the will! see below!]
The first story is at World Net Daily about how the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement has LOST some of the so-called unaccompanied alien children they claim are refugees—one little boy in particular—but reportedly thousands.
After telling the story of ‘Missing child W,’ reporter Leo Hohmann reports on comments from Jessica Vaughan, an immigration expert at the Center for Immigration Studies:

Sadly, the case of missing child “W” is not unique, says an expert in federal immigration policy.

10-year old Walter was supposedly placed in this South Carolina home, but no one there knows anything about him.

‘Asking as few questions as possible’

The problem has become endemic under the Obama administration’s slack procedures for dealing with unaccompanied minors from Central America, said Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies for the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington. And local communities often end up getting stuck with the problem – and the cost.

“From the beginning, instead of putting the welfare of the kids first, the priority of the Obama administration has been to turn over the kids to anyone who would claim them, asking as few questions as possible, and deliberately oblivious as to whether the child was being placed in a safe environment,” Vaughan told WND.

For the sake of political expediency, she said the government wants a rapid turnover, and is willing to sacrifice all checks and safeguards to ensure the safety of the kids.

“The contractors [this includes the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service—both receive millions of tax dollars to care for the children.—ed] who were awarded public funds to handle the kids admit that they have lost track of most of them, and a U.S. Senate investigation has found that some were turned straight over to indentured labor camps or to abusive adults,” said Vaughan, who in February testified before a House subcommittee on the problem of child migrants being swept up into human trafficking networks.

“The Obama administration wants the public to believe that we are saving these kids, but in reality their policies are enriching human smugglers and traffickers and resettlement contractors, while putting too many of the kids in more danger,” she said.

Then there is this story by Michael Patrick Leahy at Breitbart which chronicles some of the horror stories from refugees placed in the care of nine major federal resettlement contractors—stories, some of which, we have reported on these pages over the years.
Leahy begins:

When Eritrean refugee Mulugeta Zemu Mana was recently arraigned in a courtroom in Twin Falls, Idaho, on charges of aggravated battery, he told the presiding judge, “The only guilt I have is the day I decided to come to this country.”

mana
Refugee Mulugeta Zemu Mana wishes he never came to America!

Mana’s lack of gratitude and anti-Americanism is a painful revelation of the social turmoil and economic pain among the 70,000 refugees, half of whom are Muslim, who arrive in the U.S. every year.

But it is also the predictable outcome of the lucrative, federal taxpayer financed refugee resettlement industry which is now headed by former Clinton and Obama administration appointees. The industry rejects America’s traditional policy of assimilating refugees into the country, and instead treats refugees more as revenue-generating opportunities that boost their income and political power.

There is much more here.

Where is Congress?

One fix that Congress could quickly make is to set up a repatriation fund so that unhappy ‘refugees’ (and other immigrants too) could tap into it for a plane ticket home.
And, I don’t want to hear any squawking about the cost—it would be much cheaper than incarcerating them or keeping them on welfare!

The true humanitarian do-gooders should have no objections! Right?

LOL! There is one other side benefit:  such a plan would help sort out the resettlement contractors by helping to identify which are doing the best job of taking care of the refugees they have acquired in their federal contracts.

Maine: Former Iranian refugee who died for ISIS was on welfare in US

That is the headline, but what has the Leftwing media done in Maine?  They are attacking the governor because he released the information thus not respecting the Islamic terrorist’s privacy in death!  Ahhhh!
By the way Governor LePage is one of only a few governors who have had the guts to criticize the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program over the years.

Robyn Merrill

Here is the news at Maine Public Radio:

Gov. Paul LePage has pounced on the recent unsealing of court documents showing an Iranian refugee who resettled in Maine and later joined the terror group ISIS.

But the governor’s eagerness to use Adnan Fazeli’s radicalization here to rail against welfare benefits for refugees may have led him to run afoul of a federal law designed to protect the identities of welfare recipients and their families.

State officials have not confirmed that Fazeli, or his family, received welfare benefits when he lived in Maine between 2009 and 2013. According to federal laws governing food stamps and cash assistance, they’re not supposed to.

“It’s concerning if that was indeed reported by Maine officials because federal law is clear that people’s confidentiality should be protected,” says Robyn Merrill, director for Maine Equal Justice Partners, an advocacy group for the poor.

Merrill’s concerns were raised by a report in the Boston Herald in which Maine state officials are quoted as saying that Fazeli, and his family, received cash and food stamp benefits. [Here is one of several stories about the terrorist on welfare in Maine—ed]

Those benefits, known also as SNAP and TANF, are federal programs, funded mostly with federal tax dollars.

According to federal rules, the identities of benefit recipients are confidential — only law enforcement, immigration officials and state administrators are allowed to know who receives the benefits.***

Those same officials, according to the law, “must adequately protect the information against unauthorized disclosure.”

The Herald story also contained an interview with LePage, who told the newspaper that the Fazeli case prompted him to order a review of all benefit programs for refugees.

More here.
***Now how does the claim by Maine Equal Justice Partners square with a law we told you about in the previous post where the federal ‘Work Opportunity Tax Credit’ is available to businesses that hire people (refugees!) who are on welfare, including food stamps.  If there is supposed to be secrecy surrounding one’s status as a welfare recipient, how is a company which wants to take advantage of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit know which welfare programs the refugee (the prospective employee) is receiving?

It seems everyone is allowed to know who is on welfare, but you! the taxpayer paying for it all!

Twin Falls, Idaho: Is Prosecutor attempting to downplay rape story?

Why would he do that? Because the whole narrative that keeps refugees flowing to cities and towns to supply cheap labor for multi-national corporations under the guise of humanitarianism could come crashing down.

grant Loebs
Prosecutor Grant Loebs

That, carefully crafted, decades old narrative, is this: refugees are good people, downtrodden souls, escaping war and poverty, and it is US tradition (indeed our role in the world!) to care for those in need and so we must welcome refugees from around the globe who only want a better life for their little children (even if they come from cultures that do not share our traditions, values and laws).
Therefore, news about refugee children raping and sexually assaulting American children simply must be covered-up.  There is too much money involved to let this story grow!
Here is the latest from Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily who interviewed the rape victim’s tenacious new attorney.  I’ll let you read it yourself.
If you are a new reader, this is a good summary of where the case is today.  Here, in a nutshell, is what is going on:

“He’s [prosecutor Grant Loebs] taken a bizarre route and tried to manipulate this narrative into something that he wants, that covers everything up, but he’s not going to succeed. I’m going to lay out why he’s violating the rules of professional conduct and his own oath to represent the victim zealously, regardless of personal cost. He just wants to protect the refugee community so they can work at Chobani and so College of Southern Idaho can continue to get the refugee money.”
