It is maddening (as so many things are these days!)! Why does the American media rarely (here Bloomberg News does write about it) mention that the much ballyhooed RAINBOW NATION of South Africa is experiencing xenophobic violence and a murder rate six times higher than the US?

I do know why, the Left is so invested in the idea of South Africa being run successfully by commie blacks (who would wipe out racism and ethnic nationalism) that it would never allow its media arm to tell the world what a bunch of ‘unwelcoming’ xenophobes they are! The Mandela mythology is so deep, the truth will rarely be told in the West.
And, of course they have to use the word xenophobe instead of racist because this is black on black violence.
Kind of interesting though that it is Somalis getting the brunt of the hatred there.

Ali Omar Mohamed fled Somalia’s civil war two years ago to seek a better life in South Africa. Now after being robbed at gunpoint and seeing scores of his countrymen murdered in xenophobic violence, he’s ready to leave.
Mohammed, a 21-year-old shopkeeper, is part of a growing tide of immigrants who say they prefer returning to a war zone rather than face the hatred and jealousy they are subject to in South Africa where they’re called “the enemy.”
What a coincidence! Muslims have the money to own the convenience stores there too!
Over the past six months, disputes between Somali shopkeepers and South Africans have deteriorated into looting and burning sprees of dozens of stores in parts of Johannesburg and the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, according to police.

Somalis and Pakistanis, who’re able to tap their close-knit communities for capital to start businesses, dominate convenience stores known as spaza shops in townships and shantytowns on the outskirts of South Africa’s major cities.
Conspicuous by their distinctive languages and Muslim religion in a mainly Christian country, their business acumen has stoked jealousy among many citizens in South Africa, where one-in-four are unemployed. [Do I see a little Islamophobia creeping in?—ed]
“There are too many foreigners here, they undercut everyone. Every corner, there is a Somali shop,” Magdalene Thabana, 56, said as she sat on a red plastic stool selling bags of scones across the road from Mohamed’s store. “I don’t have enough money to start a shop.”
Murder rate six times higher than the US!
A wave of xenophobic violence led to about 60 deaths, including some Somalis, and as many as 50,000 people being forced to flee their homes and shops in 2008. Since then, Somalis have been the hardest hit by outbreaks of xenophobic violence, police spokeswoman Brigadier Marinda Mills said in a phone interview.
While South Africa’s murder rate has dropped by more than half to 31.1 per 100,000 people since 1995, it remains six times higher than that of the U.S. [And, I’m betting they don’t always do their killing with guns!—South Africa has strict gun control laws according to theWashington Post.—ed]
Guess it’s time to go home to Somalia!
In South Africa, the situation for Somalis is deteriorating.
“Somalis are subjected to a high rate of fatalities and loss of livelihoods,” Munyaneza said in an interview. “This is unprecedented. They’re being attacked with impunity. The Somalis are the ones who are the hardest hit amongst the foreigners.”
As a party to the 1951 Refugee Convention, “asylum seekers” should not be passing through South Africa as a conduit to America. Legitimate asylum seekers/refugees should be asking for asylum there.

In Germany, there’s a group of refugee demanders with a website called Lampedusa in Hamburg. The front page photo shows a banner reading, “We did not survive the NATO war in Libya to die on the streets of Hamburg,” which is kind of a double-down statement of Screw the West for ousting the dictator and now give us free stuff in Germany.
Hundreds of refugees and activists of the “Lampedusa in Hamburg” group took the streets of Hamburg on Wednesday to protests against the alleged unlawful treatment of migrants by the Hamburg Senate.
Protesters marched from the main station to the city hall and back in a 2-hour demonstration to also show their support to the victims of the recent shipwrecks occurred off the Italian island of Lampedusa.
Clashes erupted Tuesday night in Hamburg after around 500 protesters demonstrating in front of the squatted theatre “Roten Flora” reportedly threw stones and bottles to police, who used pepper spray and batons on protesters.
So, this is where we are after Obama’s three witches (including ‘responsibility to protect’ Samantha Power) helped bring down Gaddafi. He might have been a crazy dictator, but the invasion of African boat people out of Libya is now completely out of control and the consequences for Europe will be hard (impossible?) to reverse. Call it Gaddafi’s revenge!
Editor’s note: Readers, on Friday a car crash in Columbus, Ohio involving a police cruiser and a car carrying an Iraqi family resulted in the deaths of the car’s occupants—an Iraqi refugee family, a husband and wife and four of their children. ‘Pungentpeppers,’ a reader and frequent commenter here at RRW, has penned this piece after reading the many news accounts of what happened raising the ever-controversial issue of whether certain immigrants could be more appropriately (and more economically) helped by leaving them in their own countries or cultural zones.
“A Child Bride And Her Four Dead Daughters”
In Ohio, six members of one Iraqi refugee family died last week in an automobile accident. It seems unfair to write about the dead. They cannot defend themselves or explain. But there were children who were wronged. Their story must be told.
News about the tragedy uncovered certain facts. Those facts reveal that our efforts to bring this family to our country were misguided. The family, coming from a tribal background, either ignored, or could not understand, our system of values. Our laws requiring the protection of children – and granting important human and civil rights to daughters – were violated. Since the gap between our values and theirs was so huge, instead of bringing this family to the U.S., it would have been better to send aid to help them rebuild their lives in their own country. They might have lived. Here is the family’s story.
The accident scene: The cruiser’s dash camera revealed that the car driven by Eid Shahad had made an illegal turn on a red light.
Officer Shawn Paynter might never be able to forget what happened during the early morning hours of Friday, October 18. He was on duty with the Upper Arlington Police Department near Columbus, Ohio. That Friday, at 1:30 a.m., he was responding to an armed robbery in progress at a local McDonalds. His police cruiser approached an intersection and entered just as the light turned yellow. A Toyota Corolla, making an illegal turn, entered the intersection against a red light, and stopped right in front of him. His car collided with the Toyota. All six persons in the Toyota died at the scene. None wore seat belts. Officer Paynter survived. He suffered a head injury and is expected to recover.
Among the dead was Entisar Hameed, age 31, the mother of eight children. She had arrived from Basra, Iraq, via Syria, as a refugee three years ago. She was seated in the front. Her husband, Eid Shahad, 39, was driving. It was Eid Al-Adha, a four-day long Islamic holiday. At that late hour they were returning home from a holiday visit on Thursday night to another family of newly-arrived Iraqis. The mother had brought her four daughters with them for the visit: Shuaa, 16, Amna, 14, Ekbal, 12, and 2-year-old Lina Badi. The girls were in the back seat of the Toyota. Not one was buckled in and the youngest girl, Lina, was not in a car seat. There would have been no room for a car seat, anyway, with so many children packed into a small car. In addition to her daughters who died with her, Entisar left behind four sons. Her eldest, Mushary, was 17, and the other boys were 5, 6, and 12.
After the accident, acquaintances and friends spoke in glowing terms about the husband and father. Eid worked as a home health aide for Sunrise Health Care; among his patients was his 77-year-old mother who had suffered a stroke.* Eid was active and well liked. He helped newly arrived immigrants from Iraq and other countries become acclimated to the U.S. For example, he was known to take people grocery shopping and helped fix their cars. He planned to help sponsor a new family** of Iraqi refugees that were due to arrive next month through the agency that had brought his family, Ohio’s Community Immigration Refugee Services.
In contrast, there was nothing reported in the news about Entisar, the mother who died, except her name and age. Entisar – her name means “Victory” in Arabic – seems to have lived a hard life. She was married at around age 13, below the age of consent in Iraq, but not uncommon for a Muslim girl in Basra. If she had been living in the U.S. at that time of her marriage, it’s likely that her husband would have been thrown in prison for having sexual relations with a minor. Instead, our country decided to look the other way and allowed the family to immigrate – there is one set of laws for immigrants and another for Americans. Once married, young Entisar gave birth to one child after another. Her eighth baby, Lina, was born in the U.S.
In Ohio, Entisar lived with her husband, their eight children, and her sick mother-in-law, all packed into one small apartment. Money had to have been tight – home health aides do not earn much – certainly not enough to support a large family of eleven. The housing complex where they lived was full of Somali refugees who did not speak Arabic, so there was not much company there. Instead she had the company of her daughters.
The eldest boy, Mushary, was a senior at a local high school. None of the daughters, however, were in school. After they arrived in the U.S., some of the girls had been enrolled in Westside Academy, a school that describes itself as being globally conscious and even offers Arabic as a foreign language. They later transferred to the International Academy of Columbus, run under the direction of Dr. Mouhamed Tarazi, and improved their English, but – per the Columbus Dispatch – they left that school earlier this year. The story says the girls were to be “home-schooled by their parents”. But it was doubtful that these girls were receiving any sort of significant education at home. The father had a job and besides he was very busy helping others in the community. And since their mother had been married when barely a teen herself, what sort of age-appropriate schooling would she have been able to give the girls who were 16, 14, and 12? It is apparent that despite being in America – where both girls and boys go to school – Entisar’s daughters were headed down a traditional path of life that paralleled their mother’s.
Plainly, while they lived, nobody was checking up on this family of refugees to see how they were doing. Were they sending their daughters to school? No. Did their children wear seat belts or use car seats? No. Did the father understand traffic laws? No. What conditions were they living in? Eleven people in one small apartment. Refugees coming from certain backgrounds have too big a learning curve and too many obstacles to overcome. Sadly, these same obstacles may have contributed to this family’s deaths. America was not the best place for them.

* This practice of setting up immigrant-run home health services (with government support) and then being paid to care for one’s own elderly (or ailing) family members is one area of potential fraud going forward as the US tackles the enormous health care problems associated with socialized medicine for all.
** The mention of “sponsoring” a new family does not mean what the average reader might be thinking—that somehow one family is helping pay for the resettlement of another family. You, the taxpayer are doing the paying, the “sponsoring” family would likely be just acting as mentors. And, sadly in this case, be teaching the new family how to get around American values.

Here is the latest report on the Norwegian citizen/Somali refugee believed to have been involved. From the BBC(hat tip: Ed). Emphasis is mine:
The man being investigated by Norwegian police over the attack on Kenya’s Westgate shopping centre is Hassan Abdi Dhuhulow, BBC Newsnight has learned.
The 23-year-old Norwegian citizen of Somali origin is suspected of helping to plan and carry out the attack.
BBC Newsnight has spoken to a relative of his in Norway who said he left the town of Larvik for Somalia in 2009.
At least 67 people died in the attack in Nairobi, which the al-Qaeda linked group al-Shabab says it carried out.
Last week Norway’s intelligence agency, the PST, said it had sent officers to Kenya to verify reports that a Norwegian citizen had been involved in the assault on the shopping centre, which began on Saturday 21 September and lasted four days.
He grew up in Norway!
Dhuhulow was born in Somalia, but he and his family moved to Norway as refugees in 1999.
There is a lot of mumbo-jumbo in the story along the lines of disenfranchised youths (dumb and naive), but nothing in the text about the Islamic Jihad imperative that is really driving crime of this horrific nature worldwide. However, watch the BBC film and note that a neighbor says he was talking about the Koran all the time.
And, I’ve been wondering what the heck is taking so long to ID any bodies that might have been the attackers. The BBC tells us this:
Forensic investigators are still combing through the rubble of Westgate – no bodies have yet been identified and it is not known whether the attackers are alive or dead.
Boxes of body parts sent to Kenyan morgue!
In a related story just this morning, foreign forensic teams have arrived at a Nairobi mortuary to attempt to identify the remains of what some believe are the killers.
NAIROBI, Kenya – Officials in Kenya say two boxes of charred body parts have been delivered to the city morgue from Westgate Mall and that four AK-47 assault rifles were found alongside the remains. Gunmen stormed the mall on Sept. 21, killing more than 60 people.
A city morgue official told The Associated Press that the two boxes arrived Thursday, and that a team of foreigners padlocked the boxes Friday.
Amazingly, several of these reports are now referring to only 4 men having pulled off this slaughter. Surely these four were not the brains of the operation.

I searched our thousands of posts and voila, I knew I recognized the name, we first reported on Worku here in 2012. It is really worth visiting that post to see how complex a fraud was perpetrated on the US State Department. Worku didn’t just claim (in isolation) to be someone else, but “kids” in America (not his kids) actually helped perpetrate the scam and allowed him to assume the identity of their ailing father. He came to the US through ‘family’ reunification.
Here is the news of the conviction yesterday at East Africa News (emphasis is mine):
A United States court has convicted an Ethiopian immigrant, who is suspected of having committed war crimes in his home country, on charges of immigration fraud and identity theft.
Prosecutors told the court that the accused, Kefelgn Alemu Worku, had lied about his past and stolen someone else’s identity before immigrating to Colorado in 2004 as a refugee.Worku admitted that he had used a false name to gain entry and citizenship in the United Statesbut denied allegations that he had tortured and killed political prisoners while working as a prison guard in Ethiopia in the 1970’s.
The accused was arrested in May 2011 after Ethiopian Immigrants, Samuel Ketema, 53, and his brother, Kiflu, 58, identified and confronted him at a cafe in Aurora, Colorado. Kiflu claims he witnessed Worku torturing and killing several prisoners – including one of Kiflu’s best friends – while serving a prison sentence in Ethiopia.
So we taxpayers absorbed the expenses of his resettlement, his use of social services, his legal case and now we get to take care of him in prison for the next 15 years!
Worku now faces up to 15 years in prison following his conviction. Dozens of Ethiopian immigrants who thronged the court during the trial seemed satisfied with the verdict.
The charges brought against Worku in Denver were for immigration violations and not the war crimes that he is accused of having committed nearly four decades ago. Ethiopia already tried him for those crimes in absentia and sentenced him to hanging.
I guess what this really means is that in lieu of deportation and hanging, we get to pay for him in prison for 15 years, then what? Will he be released into America to collect his senior citizen benefits because he is a US citizen? But, wait! is he a US citizen if he used another person’s identity?
