Ft. Morgan Meatpacker recalls 66.3 tons of beef after E-coli outbreak kills one, injures 17

Yes, dear readers, this is the same Cargill meatpacker that paid Somali workers $1.5 million over an Islamic prayer break dispute (reported here just last week!).

Here is the story at the Denver Post:

Cargill Meat Solutions of Fort Morgan is recalling 66.3 tons of ground beef products following an outbreak of one death and 17 illnesses that were reported due to E. coli contamination.

Food investigators determined that everyone sickened had purchased raw meat at grocery stores supplied by Cargill, Machuca said.

The identity of the deceased person has not been released.

In a statement on Thursday, Cargill said all of the affected products have been removed from supermarkets. Food safety teams are reviewing the Fort Morgan facility and others “to ensure we continue to deliver safe food,” the statement said.

“We were distressed to learn a fatality may be related to an E.coli contamination of one of our products,” it said. “Our hearts go out to the families and individuals affected by this issue.”

A little more here for those of you who might want to check the meat you bought earlier this summer that might still be in your freezer.

A personal note:

In the summer of 2016, I visited Ft. Morgan to see what the situation was there relating to the influx of Somali refugee workers for Cargill.

I haven’t bought beef since, and here is why.

I’m an animal lover, and we raised beef cattle for 20 years. We loved our cattle and treated them humanely, but they did become someone’s dinner. However, when I saw the miles and miles of feedlots with thousands of beef cattle standing in those hot feedlots going in to Ft. Morgan I was appalled. No cover from the summer sun and waiting to be slaughtered by Cargill, I was finished.

If you love eating beef, find a reputable producer near where you live and buy directly from that farmer or rancher.

The meatpackers are changing America with their desire for cheap immigrant labor, don’t send them your money!

Portland, OR: Refugee federal funding uncertainty causes Catholic Charities to fire some staff

Well, nothing new there you say! Right!

However, a couple of things in this otherwise ho-hum news story make it worth posting.

First, because Catholic Charities of Oregon (a refugee agency subcontractor of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops) isn’t getting in massive new waves of fresh refugee clients, they are focusing on better care for the ones they resettled earlier and that is a good thing.

However, when they list their efforts at job training and mental health counseling it got me thinking—who is paying for that!

It is probably the taxpayer again, but because Catholic Charities of Oregon considers itself a church they are not required to file an IRS Form 990 so that we could find out exactly how many taxpayer dollars are flowing to them.

We know that in addition to the per head payment resettlement agencies receive from you there are myriad taxpayer-funded grants at the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, grants like this one, that keep resettlement contractors afloat. (I think I need to start having a look at those!)

Require all Catholic Charities to file Form 990s (they aren’t churches!)

One more of many reforms that Congress (or the President) should undertake is to require these so-called ‘religious’ charities to file Form 990s. (By the way, some Catholic Charities do file a Form 990, but the one featured at Catholic News Agency does not.)

Minnesota Republican candidate for governor tells Breitbart radio he would seek to end refugee resettlement in the state if elected

And, I was surprised to see that in a recent poll he is only five points behind the Democrat candidate for governor. Minnesotans who want to save their state need to get to work!

For inspiration, re-visit this 2015 post where Minnesota’s present Democrat Governor told Minnesotans to leave the state if they didn’t like the diversity he was welcoming!

By the way, in every state and district, all of you concerned about immigration should make sure that someone is at Democrat campaign stops from now until November to bring up the question of refugee resettlement, the border wall, sanctuary cities, migrant crimes etc. Get the candidate on the record!

This is your best chance this year to get YOUR views out past the mainstream media filter!

Minnesota Republican gubernatorial nominee Jeff Johnson says it is time to end the federal government’s refugee resettlement program in the state.

Johnson told Breitbart News’s deputy Washington political editor Amanda House on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Sunday that if elected he will go to Washington, D.C. and deliver that message to the Trump administration officials in charge of the Refugee Admissions Program.

“Here, we have the issue of becoming a sanctuary state or not. My Democrat opponent actually has signed on to becoming a sanctuary state, which I think is absolutely insane,” Johnson said.

“We also have a refugee issue in Minnesota. We have been more generous and accepted more refugees than any other state in the country. Not by a little, but by a lot,” he added.

“What I have called for is that we end our participation in that [federal refugee resettlement] program, at least until we get answers to the questions of cost, and start addressing the issue of whether the refugees that are here are succeeding or not, because many of them aren’t. The unemployment rate is extremely high among the Somali population in Minnesota,” Johnson said.

“If you include state and federal spending, [the cost of supporting refugees is] in the hundreds of millions of dollars. We don’t know what the number is though, because the Legislative Auditor, which is a very well respected non-partisan office, was charged with trying to figure that out, and the answer they came back with was, well no one keeps track of that and no one asks the right questions,” he added.

On this issue of getting at the costs of refugee resettlement. Every time someone who wants to restrict refugees asks, he or she is told there simply is no good data on what refugees cost the taxpayer.

Then I want to know how the Open Borders gang, like Welcoming America!, comes up with studies that say unequivocally that refugees BENEFIT the economy. Where are they getting their numbers? Or are they just not trying to find out the true costs?

Leahy continues:

“There is an existing lawsuit that Tennessee has gotten involved with. Would you be willing to jump on board that lawsuit?” House asked.

“Absolutely I would consider that,” Johnson responded.

Leahy then tells readers about two big issues for Minnesota involving refugees: health issues especially high rates of TB, and the issue of MN producing jihadists!

The latest poll shows Johnson trails his Democrat rival in the governor’s race, Rep. Tim Walz (D-MN-01) by five points, 46 percent to 41 percent.

Italy: Ship stalemate ends as Ireland, Albania and the Catholic Church! agree to take the illegal migrants

Italy disembarks stranded migrants, Salvini under investigation

CATANIA, Italy (Reuters) – Italy on Sunday disembarked all 150 migrants from a rescue ship that had been docked for five days in a Sicilian port, ending the migrants’ ordeal and a bitter stand-off between Rome’s anti-establishment government and its European Union partners.

The migrants, mainly from Eritrea, had been stranded in the port of Catania since Monday because the government refused to let them off the boat until other EU states agreed to take some of them in.

This is big! We should be telling the Catholic Church in America that they need to spend their own money for the refugees they want to place in your towns and cities.

Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said Albania had offered to accept 20 of the migrants and Ireland 20-25, while the rest would be housed by Italy’s Catholic Church “at zero cost” to the Italian taxpayer.

“The church has opened its heart and opened its wallet,” Salvini, from the right-wing League party, told supporters at a rally in Pinzolo in northern Italy on Saturday evening. [LOL! will they be housed at the Vatican?—ed]

Salvini, who has led a popular crackdown against immigration since the government took office in June, also announced that he had been placed under investigation by a Sicilian prosecutor for abuse of office, kidnapping and illegal arrest.

“Being investigated for defending the rights of Italians is a disgrace,” he said.

More than 650,000 people have reached Italian shores since 2014, and even though the numbers have fallen steeply in the last year, Rome says it will not let any more rescue ships dock unless the migrants are shared out around the EU.

Italian city prosecutor suing to allow migrants to get off ship as stalemate continues

Italian ship scabies — Masked! Italian prosecutor (presumably a Leftist) wants this latest batch of migrants removed from the ship where the migrants would then be interacting with the Italian public. Will all citizens get masks and special suits?

We told you here that the Italian Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini said that the latest migrant transport ship could dock, but not unload ‘new Europeans’ until other countries in the EU agreed to take them.

As of last night the stalemate continues although now the city of Agrigento has opened an investigation aimed at allowing the passengers (who are infested with scabies) be allowed ashore.

Salvini defiant over investigation into illegal detention of migrants

Italian prosecutors have opened an investigation into the illegal detention of 177 migrants onboard a coastguard vessel that the minister of the interior, Matteo Salvini, refuses to allow to land.

The Ubaldo Diciotti has been docked for 48 hours at the port of Catania, Sicily, but the majority of the migrants have not been allowed to disembark without having guarantees from Brussels on their distribution to other countries.

The investigation, conducted by the prosecutor of the city of Agrigento, was launched against “unknowns” but it is clear that if the magistrates were to go ahead with a judicial proceeding, Salvini would end up under investigation, being the only one responsible for the landing ban.

“I heard that the prosecutor’s office in Agrigento has opened an investigation,” said Salvini in a recent video on Facebook Live.

“I also heard that the suspects are ‘unknown’ at the moment. But I’m not unknown. My name is Matteo Salvini, I’m the minister of the interior. Come on, try me too, I’m here.”

The Ubaldo Diciotti docked on Monday night in the port of Catania but the 177 migrants onboard, including 29 unaccompanied minors, were refused authorisation to disembark.

scabies_s3_mite_arm — So couldn’t they bring scabies meds on board the ship?

On Wednesday afternoon, prosecutors in Agrigento visited the ship and questioned the captain and several migrants.

“There are migrants onboard clearly affected by scabies,” said the chief prosecutor, Luigi Patronaggio. “They require urgent medical assistance. The situation onboard is critical.”

Salvini does allow the ‘unaccompanied minors’ to leave the ship. You all know how that scam has been working when the men say they are minors but there is no proof!

Following the magistrates’ visit, Salvini authorised on Wednesday night for the 29 unaccompanied minors to disembark, but made it clear he would not authorise the landing of the remaining 148 asylum seekers onboard “unless Europe steps in”.

Maybe the mayor and the citizens of the tourist town of Agrigento could be required to open their homes to the remaining African men—require they stay for a couple of years as the city pays for their care. I wonder if that might change the politics of the city.

Oh, and maybe the Italian government will spring for masks and scabies meds! (I can dream can’t I!).
