Syrians arriving in Nebraska, governor notified

I’m dashing off this post as I run out the door to make it to the next city this morning on my RRW road trip…

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts is being notified about refugees arriving in the state. This is new news….

This is your usual fluffy puffy piece about happy, grateful refugees.
However there is a little nugget in here that I didn’t know.  Apparently governors are being notified by the feds about who is coming and how many. It is not clear if they are being notified where they will be placed.
If they are being notified, this is new news and a demonstration that our complaints about the secrecy of this program are changing how the US State Department and its contractors have operated for decades.
From the Omaha World-Herald:

During June alone, 2,406 Syrian refugees arrived — more than the previous six months combined. Such numbers appear to have the Obama administration on track to meet its stated budget year goal of resettling 10,000 refugees in the United States by the end of September.

Nebraska’s Syrian refugees arrived without fanfare, which was by design.

Local agencies settling the families on behalf of the U.S. government said they didn’t treat these arrivals any differently from the hundreds of other refugees they help relocate each year.

[….]

The Ricketts administration — which despite its protestations last November has acknowledged being powerless to stop the federal government’s resettlements — was aware that Nebraska had received its first Syrians. The governor receives a monthly report from the federal government with general information on refugees settled in the state, including nationality, gender and age.

In a statement to The World-Herald last week, Ricketts called on President Barack Obama to answer his and other governors’ calls to tighten security checks on new refugees.

More here.
Gotta run.  We have lots of previous posts on Nebraska especially interesting is one where a town rejected a meat packing plant because they didn’t want the disruption of immigrant/refugee labor.  Type the word Nebraska in our search window to learn more.

More on Obama and his crony corporate pals doing an end-run on refugee program

We mentioned this story here and here the other day when we wrote about Twin Falls Idaho and Chobani Yogurt, but now we are learning even more!
The Daily Caller (reporter Alex Pfeiffer) has relied on the work of Nayla Rush a refugee/immigration researcher at the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington to flesh out yet another of Obama’s creative (sneaky and unethical) ways of flooding the country with phony refugees.

Crony capitalism on full display at the Clinton Global Initiative. Chatting it up with Bill is Hamdi Ulukaya founder and CEO of Chobani Yogurt. Big companies need the federal government to supply them with cheap labor! Photo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamdi_Ulukaya

Below is a bit of the Daily Caller article (note that Chobani Yogurt is prominent among the financial giants working to change the nature of your towns!).
Do not be fooled! It is all about money and power (with a brushed on veneer of compassionate humanitarianism).

The White House announced last week that it is launching a “Call to Action” asking private businesses to help with the resettlement of refugees. This could be done without regard to the government cap of 85,000 total refugees, including 10,000 Syrian refugees, in 2016.

Fifteen founding corporations have teamed up with the Obama administration on the effort. These are: Accenture, Airbnb, Chobani, Coursera, Goldman Sachs, Google, HP, IBM, JPMorgan Chase & Co., LinkedIn, Microsoft, Mastercard, UPS, TripAdvisor, and Western Union. The Call to Action initiative is not only to help refugees in the United States, but all over the world.

[….]

These refugees will be coming outside the refugee resettlement program so they would not be counted under the government cap of 10,000. These ‘alternative legal pathways or sponsorships’ will be under employment visas, training, student visas and scholarships, visiting scholars etc,” Nayla Rush, senior researcher at the Center for Immigration Studies, told The Daily Caller.

Rush added, “remember, the aim is to bring as many Syrian refugees as possible. 10,000 is the limit this [Fiscal Year] under the refugee resettlement program. No limit to these ‘private sponsorships’, more importantly, no traceability.”

Read Rush’s full report here.
She mentions Chipotle and the major US resettlement contractor, International Rescue Committee, something we told you about here in May.

Say after me: It is all about money! It is all about money!……

inquiring mindsIsn’t it curious that Chobani Yogurt asked Bloomberg to take a sentence out of a report that Bloomberg posted on June 30th on the Obama Call to Action.
Bloomberg correction:

“Corrects to remove reference to Chobani yogurt hiring additional refugees in ninth paragraph, which the company has not announced.”

Are they saying they are (or are not) hiring more refugees for their plants in New York state and in Idaho? Inquiring minds want to know!

Dear Welcoming Community, is your school system rolling in dough?

Are your local taxpayers ready to pay for a “NEW REALITY”—that they must pay for the translation services that the federal government is now demanding in immigrant ‘rich’ towns and cities.
Diversity isn’t strength, but it is expensive!

Bill and Hill
In Bill’s last months in office he left a ‘legacy’ of executive orders and one (order #13166 ) said that any institution receiving federal funds was required to provide interpreters. So, today you see medical facilities, school systems and the criminal justice system paying for expensive interpreters as refugees are spread out to more and more small cities and towns. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_Order_13166

This is a lengthy story that everyone in towns anticipating refugee arrivals must read. From the Hechinger Report which features Syracuse, NY as its star of story (the city where a Catholic Church has become a mosque when refugee numbers expanded):

The Bhutanese population has grown into a flourishing, tightly knit group of about 3,000 people. They are part of a substantial refugee population from South Asia, Africa and the Middle East that has transformed the city and its schools. Students in the Syracuse City School District speak more than 70 different languages and four of the most common among them are Nepali, Karen, Somali, and Arabic. [Arabic is the number one language spoken by refugees entering the US, see here.—ed]

In 2010, to better serve this population, the Syracuse City school District created a new position — nationality workers — to serve as a bridge between new immigrant communities and the schools.

I’ll bet the federal refugee contractor trying to sell your town a bill of goods (they say the feds pay for everything!), never mentioned this:

A failure to communicate effectively with immigrant parents is a violation of their civil rights, considered discrimination based on national origin, which is prohibited by the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Without language services, non-English-speaking parents are considered to be blocked from equal access to school information and resources.

As refugees spread out across the U.S., settling in the Southeast, Midwest, and many rural areas that, before, were fairly insulated from large immigrant populations, schools are being forced to adapt to a new reality.

Syracuse is one of the more proactive districts when it comes to providing language access. While it struggles, at times, to meet its obligations, districts in other cities and states have fared worse. Dozens have been investigated by the Office of Civil Rights or the Department of Justice in recent years following complaints that they did not provide interpreters or translated materials to parents who needed them. These schools are in Yuma, Arizona; New Orleans, Louisiana; Richmond, Virginia; Detroit, Michigan; Modesto, California; and Seattle, Washington, among others.

[….]

The legal rationale for language access requirements has existed for decades, but the Obama administration has been more aggressive than others in holding schools accountable. [Not surprising!—ed]

While the Civil Rights Act doesn’t specifically require schools to offer interpretation and translation services to parents — or any special supports for their non-English-speaking children – it bars discrimination based on national origin in any program or activity receiving federal dollars. The courts have consistently relied on this rationale to require schools to provide these services, and a “Dear Colleague” letter from the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights and the Department of Justice in 2015 went into explicit detail about what schools have to do to communicate with immigrant parents.

Read it all and get ready Reno, NV, Rutland, VT, Ithaca, NY, Missoula, MT, Asheville, NC, Fayetteville, AR, Charleston, WV, etc. Have you got your Arabic interpreters lined up?
And, you know what is really funny, often the well-paid interpreters are refugees themselves (just as in this story) and the contractors can crow about how refugees find jobs!
You might want to look for other stories here at RRW involving interpreters because there have been refugee criminals who got off the hook because of poor language translation by court-appointed interpreters.
P.S. If you want to know more about Bhutanese refugees (not Muslims), click here, because we have followed their arrival in America since George W. Bush welcomed 60,000 of them in 2007 (we are now probably looking at (at least) 80,000).

Obama more than halfway to goal of 10,000 Syrian Muslims brought to US this year, Michigan tops the list

Obama announced last fall that in FY2016, the US would “welcome” 10,000 Syrian ‘refugees’ to states across America. As of June 30th (9 months into the fiscal year) 5,186 have been distributed so far.

Snyder and obama
In May of 2014 we reported that Michigan Governor Rick Snyder wanted to invite 50,000 refugees to the state. Guess he is on his way to getting them. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2015/05/18/lets-not-bring-50000-syrians-to-detroit-it-is-a-dumb-idea/

Lots of news outlets are reporting the numbers, here is just one story from Breitbart yesterday (confirming what we have previously reported that 99% of them are Muslims):

The United States’ federal government has imported a record number of Syrian refugees in June – more than 2,300 – of whom 99 percent are Sunni Muslim and just eight identify as Christian.

The record number admitted to the country last month brings the total number of Syrian refugees accepted during the fiscal year above the 5,000 mark and puts the government on a trajectory to surpass President Barack Obama’s stated goal of 10,000 refugees by the end of September, reports the Washington Times.

[….]

“This is social engineering, not humanitarian relief,” writes Robert Spencer at JihadWatch.com. “Syria was 10% Christian before the war. The Christians have been targeted and persecuted by several jihad groups. The refugees, then, should be at least 10% Christian and probably more than that.”

More here.
Using the US State Department’s own data base, here are the top ten states where Syrians are being placed (in parenthesis is the number for just these last nine months):

Michigan (570)

California (497)

Arizona (388)

Illinois (343)

Pennsylvania (340)

Texas (324)

Florida (301)

North Carolina (279)

New York (264)

Ohio (209)

In addition to cities in the top ten states, the following cities are now building seed communities of Syrian Muslims:
Denver, CO, New Haven, CT, Atlanta and Stone Mountain, GA, Boise, ID, Indianapolis, IN, Des Moines, IA, Wichita, KS, Louisville and Lexington, KY, New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA, Portland, ME, Baltimore and Silver Spring, MD, Lowell and Worcester, MA, Rochester, MN, Kansas City and St. Louis, MO, Omaha, NE, Las Vegas, NV, Concord, NH, Elizabeth, NJ, Tulsa, OK, Portland, OR, Providence, RI, Columbia, SC, Memphis and Nashville, TN, Salt Lake City, UT, Charlottesville, Newport News, and Roanoke, VA, Richland, Seattle and Spokane, WA, and Oshkosh, WI.

Tomorrow Obama will nag businesses to give jobs and stuff to refugees

In September Obama and Justin Trudeau will be hosting a refugee shindig at the United Nations and so in advance of that Reuters tells us Obama will be pressuring businesses (starting tomorrow) to give more jobs to refugees, and more goodies too.  I guess he wants to brag at the UN this fall.
But, wait, aren’t we being told ad nauseum that refugees are self-sustaining within months of arrival and boosting the local economy wherever they are placed?  Can’t have it both ways!

Power with O and H
The sooner these three are gone the better off we will be! Power, Obama and Hillary want our borders erased.

Reuters:

The White House will on Thursday rally businesses to give jobs to refugees ahead of a September summit where U.S. President Barack Obama will urge world leaders to boost humanitarian funds by a third and double the number of refugees being resettled.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, said on Wednesday that the Obama summit during the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations would also aim to get one million refugee children in school and one million more refugees access to legal work in the neighboring countries they fled to.

“The summit is by no means a panacea; even if we hit every target, our response will still not match the scale of the crisis,” Power told the United States Institute of Peace, adding that it would boost the number of countries trying to help.

“We need businesses, big and small, to do more too; which is why tomorrow, the White House is launching a private sector call to action, which will rally companies to do their part, from providing jobs to donating services to refugees,” Power said.

So does that mean some low-skilled Americans will lose their jobs so a refugee from Africa or the Middle East can have it?
I’ll have more to say tomorrow.
