US won't make Syrian resettlement goal this year say refugee contractors

This is a strange turn of events.  For the last couple of months we have been told (repeatedly) that the Obama Administration is on target to get its 10,000 Syrian Muslims placed in your towns by September 30th (the end of fiscal year 2016). We were told Obama sent an army of people to the Middle East to step-up the security screening process and now we are to believe that they can’t make the goal.
Don’t get me wrong, if true, that is good. But….

Eskinder Negash
Eskinder Negash (a former refugee), a Veep at USCRI (a federal contractor) before he went to the Obama Admin to be head of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, and is now Veep again at USCRI (the contractor/govt. revolving door on full display!) is still hopeful they will reach 10,000 Syrians this year.

What’s up with this! Have they found more security concerns? Are the contractors downplaying expectations to protect Obama?
Here we have the Huffington Post (in a story that reads like it was planted) quoting many officials from the refugee resettlement companies matter-of-factly saying there won’t be 10,000 Syrians coming. Huh?

In September, Secretary of State John Kerry declared that the U.S. would go from taking in 70,000 refugees per year to accepting 85,000 in fiscal year 2016 and 100,000 in the year after that. President Barack Obama specified, in the days following the Paris terror attacks in November, that at least 10,000 refugees taken in would be Syrian.

[….]

Kerry explained that the numbers of people resettled in America can’t realistically be any higher because of the rigorous post-9/11 screening requirements. The U.S. refuses to take any shortcuts on security.

[….]

It’s unlikely that the United States will resettle a total of 85,000 refugees in the 2016 fiscal year, let alone 10,000 Syrians, according to experts.

The quota is “not a hard and fast rule, it’s kind of just what people are hoping for. It depends on how processing continues overseas,” William Haney, associate director for external relations at Church World Service, one of the nine domestic resettlement agencies, told The Huffington Post.

Since Oct. 1, 2015, 2,805 Syrians have been resettled across the U.S., according to the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration’s latest figures, released after May 31, 2016. That’s almost 30 percent of the 10,000 goal.

It’s progress from last year, when only 1,682 Syrians were resettled in total, said Eskinder Negash, senior vice president at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.

“Things are slower than we anticipated,” added Helen Molinaro, the assistant director for refugee pre-arrival services at the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.

But it’s rare that the U.S. meets its refugee resettlement targets, Negash said. Although it wouldn’t be unusual for the 10,000 figure not to be reached, it would represent “another disappointment,” he added.

[….]

Large pushes to reach the quota are common in July and August, before the fiscal year ends.

More than one-third of all Syrian resettlements so far this fiscal year happened in May, meaning that similar figures in the summer months could bring the U.S. closer to its target.

“I’m hopeful that there will be some expedited processing and we’ll have a better number to show,” Negash said.

What are the numbers so far?
I just checked the numbers and we have resettled 45,736 refugees this fiscal year as of June 15th. That means that in order to get to their dream number, 85,000 from all over the world, they have to get 39,264 seeded in towns in 49 states with only 3 and 1/2 months to go in the fiscal year.  They might not make it!
Very strange in light of the fact that the O-man and Kerry bragged about this 85,000 goal for the year.  And, they want 100,000 in here in 2017! (If Trump is elected in November he can halt the program or revise the numbers downward, but if Hillary is to be our next President, you can assume this program will not be slowed or reformed in any way.)
And what about that big Obama show in September at the UN, won’t he be embarrassed?
Could they have run into some really serious screening problems with the Syrians? Or, maybe they don’t have enough capacity in your towns to ‘welcome’ such large numbers? LOL! or maybe they couldn’t find enough Syrians who want to come to the US!

They have overloaded San Diego with refugees and now they are boo-hooing!

Of course this whine-fest is for one of two reasons (or both at once!).  The Refugee Resettlement Industry wants more of your money for programs (welfare, housing, medical care etc.) and because San Diego and other big cities have foolishly been so “welcoming” and consequently overloaded, that the industry now has a big excuse to resettle refugees to small (newly targeted) cities throughout America including Reno, NV, Rutland, VT, Charleston, WV, Ithaca, NY, Fayetteville, AR and Missoula, MT (more?).

Refugees_Welcome_2015_IRC_SanDiego
International Rescue Committee is one of 4 major resettlement contractors responsible for overloading San Diego! They are the same agency opening up shop in Missoula, MT http://www.rescue.org/us-program/us-san-diego-ca/thank-you-irc-san-diego

When the Refugee Act of 1980 was debated in Congress in the late 1970’s, its chief sponsors, including Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden, promised America that the program was not meant to bring more POVERTY to our cities.  Well, that is exactly what it has done and is increasingly doing as Obama is now upping the numbers more and more each year.  (He will have one more shot for FY2017 to say how many come and unless we elect Trump in November, there is no one with any guts to pull back on Obama’s last determination! And, surely Hillary will just be an extension of Obama and the wimps in Congress will do nothing).
From the San Diego Union Tribune (hat tip: Joanne) where we learn that San Diego County gets 3,000 refugees a year!
panalogo_220x209_0

Refugees who are resettled in San Diego County often face overwhelmingly high housing costs, poor living conditions, emotional distress and limited access to health care, according to a new report by the Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans.  [And, the do-gooders never ask themselves if they are really doing humanitarian work for refugees or only to make themselves feel better!–ed]

The community organization in City Heights surveyed an estimated 500 refugees and their children in 20 neighborhoods in the county. Participants represented about 13 countries in Africa and Asia.

Data in the report focused on refugees from East Africa, Thailand and Burma because the organization has deep ties in these communities and limited resources to expand the research, according to group leaders.

Among the findings outlined in the preliminary report:

▪ Poor English proficiency and little to no education poses a significant barrier for employment

▪ East African refugees earn a mean monthly household income of $1,774, while migrants from Burma and Thailand earn a mean monthly income of $1,216.

▪ Only 24 percent of East African men and 35 percent of East African women reported having a personal physician. About half of East African participants said they hadn’t had a routine checkup in the past year. [So we don’t know if their latent TB is becoming active TB—ed]

A quick review of some critical refugee numbers for this fiscal year, it isn't just Syrians that should concern you

As you know the Obama Administration is aiming to bring in 85,000 refugees from around the world (many religions and nationalities) this fiscal year (FY 2016 ends on September 30th).

Rohingya-Migration-Map-BGR
So what do we know about thousands of Rohingya Muslims we are now picking up throughout this region of the world? No data bases there either! No criminal records to search. http://www.cfr.org/burmamyanmar/rohingya-migrant-crisis/p36651

And, yes, refugee resettlement supplies a small portion of the million or so ‘immigrants’ of all stripes we admit every year.
Our focus here at RRW is primarily (obviously) on the refugee portion or as the feds like to refer to them—humanitarian arrivals, which along with the refugees include a number of different categories of legal and illegal migrants (see a description here) that the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement takes responsibility for.
There has been so much news about the Syrian, mostly Muslim, refugees entering the US this fiscal year and I wanted to see how those numbers compared with some other Muslim-sending countries (again this is for refugees!), and so I checked the State Department data base for this fiscal year (which began on Oct. 1, 2015) and up to June 15, 2016.
This is what I found (I did not check every country) and I want to emphasize that we really can’t properly vet any of these people especially the devout Rohingya Muslims coming from Burma that have been scattered throughout South East Asia.

Afghanistan (1,455) virtually all Muslims

Burma (8,693) with 2,102 of those being Muslims (this is very new, we only in the last year or so admitted large numbers of Rohingya Muslims)

Iraq (5,781), 4,722 of those are Muslims (mostly Sunni but a large number of Shiites as well).

Somalia (5,956) all Muslim and we pick them up around the world!

Syria (4,328) virtually all Muslims

There are also many Muslims from other Middle Eastern and African countries coming, I just checked the major ethnic groups.
Again! Security screening any of these refugees is almost impossible and certainly won’t stop the 2nd generation jihadi killers.
So, as you freak out over Syrians, consider that they aren’t the only Muslim ‘refugees’ being spread out through America this year.
P.S. One day the Rohingya will be on the national news, so anyone interested in learning more about them can visit our Rohingya Reports category, here.  It goes back to 2008 and has 188 posts in it!

UN wants 170,000 refugees permanently resettled next year

For new readers, this once again confirms that the United Nations is determining who comes to America!
They want 170,000 permanently resettled, and they will be picking the deserving ‘refugees.’

Obama UN
Important election year opportunity coming up in September when Obama will surely follow UN instructions and vastly increase our refugee numbers for FY2017. Make this a critical issue for all candidates and ask them where they stand!

Obama has already said he will be setting the level for FY2017 in September at 100,000.
So the rest of the world would be responsible for 70,000 divided among many many countries.  As always the US is expected to take in the lion’s share of the world’s refugees.
Here is the UN today in Geneva:

Geneva: The United Nations said Monday it will try to resettle a record 170,000 refugees urgently in need of a new home next year as it grapples with an unprecedented displacement crisis.

The projected resettlement figure from the UN refugee agency represents an increase of nearly 30,000 people compared with this year.

Most of the millions of refugees being created in the world today are a result of Islamic destabilization of Africa and the Middle East.
Make this an important issue in the fall election as Obama will be making his ‘determination’ in September.  Pin Hillary down, as well as other candidates at all levels of government, when Obama announces his numbers for 2017.
And, besides the annual determination, which always comes due in September, remember Obama is leading a special pow-wow on refugees that month at the UN.  He will be looking to get kudos for America’s generosity and “welcome.”

Governors impotent(?) as UN/US State Department speeds up the Syrian surge (Georgia this time)

Syrian Muslims aren’t just going to Atlanta, but to Savannah and Stone Mountain as well.
Here is the news from Savannah.  If you have ample taxpayer-funded housing, you will get Syrians (and Somalis and Iraqis etc).

Humanitarian workers [paid federal contractors!—ed] have resettled the first Syrian refugees in Savannah amid the deadly fighting in their native country as the Obama administration scrambles to bring at least 10,000 Syrian civil war sufferers to the U.S. by the end of September.

Emily Laney
Emily Laney (Lutheran federal contractor) says Georgia will get many Syrians this summer.

The five-member family’s arrival in Savannah follows resistance from more than half of the nation’s governors — including Gov. Nathan Deal — in the wake of the Nov. 13 terrorist massacre in Paris. Deal initially sought to block the resettlement of Syrians in Georgia, citing security concerns. He retreated in January after he received a legal opinion that said he had no legal power to stop them from coming.

Since the Syrian civil war began in 2011, 193 Syrians have been relocated to Georgia. All of them were resettled in the Atlanta area until last month, when Lutheran Services of Georgia relocated a young family to Savannah. They’d fled to Turkey in 2013, lived in a refugee camp, and underwent a security screening process before coming to the United States.

“Savannah has affordable housing, ample job opportunities at competitive pay and a welcoming community,” said Emily Laney, director of refugee and immigration services for Atlanta-based Lutheran Services of Georgia. “We expect to continue to resettle Syrian families in Atlanta and Savannah, along with the many other refugee groups we serve.”

kevin appleby new gig
Appleby was previously the chief Washington lobbyist for the USCCB and has obviously moved on to a new gig.

Readers this is about Obama’s legacy and whether he will be able to save face at the United Nations in September!

The Obama administration has a lot riding on reaching its goal this year, said Kevin Appleby, senior director of international migration policy for the New York City-based Center for Migration Studies. Failing, he said, would undermine the nation’s “credibility with allies and others who need to share the burden of resettling the Syrians. It is difficult for us to instruct the Europeans — or even nations in the region — to accept large numbers of refugees when we can’t even meet our own modest goals.”

They will be going to Stone Mountain too.

Here is an article which appears to be nearly the same as the one for Savannah, but it says Stone Mountain High School will be used as a processing center (I’ve never heard of that) and it quotes some angry Republican activists including this one:

Harold Warner, a DeKlab County Republican, said he expected the level of anger to rise as the November election draws near. “This will be the end of Stone Mountain as we know it,” he said.

See our large archive on Georgia by clicking here.  It has one of the original pockets of resistance feared by the feds. Georgians see ‘Refugee Resettlement Relief’ here.

Again! Every one of you with concerns must use the November election to make this issue a top priority for America’s future! This is it! If Obama gets hundreds of thousands more immigrants of all stripes in here in the next few months, and Hillary is elected, we are finished!

Hound every candidate at every level running for office this fall and ask them where they stand on Open Borders for America!
All other issues of concern can be fixed (Obamacare/common core etc), but not the demographic makeup of the country once the numbers become too great!
