African immigrants bringing HIV to Malta

In response to my post last night about HIV in the refugee population in the US, reader Charles sent us this story from the Earth Times about Malta.

Valletta, Malta – Half of the HIV cases being treated in Malta involve African immigrants, who make up just one per cent of the population, the island’s main newspaper revealed Sunday. New HIV-positive cases in the EU’s smallest state have quadrupled – from between seven and 10 cases a year to about 30 to 40 – in the past two to three years, coinciding with increases in the number of illegal immigrant landings, The Sunday Times reported.

The statistics are expected to continue fuelling the anti- immigration sentiment sweeping Malta.

Read it all.

New readers, type ‘Malta’ into our search function. We have dozens of posts about how the US State Department is bringing Malta’s illegal aliens to the US.

Just ‘marry’ a gay or lesbian and stay in the USA

One more backdoor amnesty from the Obama Administration—they were busy last week.  One day we had Janet Napolitano telling Congress that any illegal alien kid in school wouldn’t be deported, and at the same time, with the decision in this case, seems all you have to do is ‘marry’ someone gay and you are in!  Problem is that most states do not recognize gay marriage.

From Fox News:

The federal decision to stop deportation proceedings against a Venezuela-born New Jersey man who legally married his same-sex partner in the United States — effectively recognizing gay marriage — is an “abuse of executive authority” by the Obama administration, immigration experts told FoxNews.com.

Henry Velandia, a 27-year-old professional salsa dancer from Caracas now living in New Jersey, legally married U.S. citizen Josh Vandiver, 30, in Connecticut last year, but due to the Defense of Marriage Act — a 1996 federal law that defines marriage as between a man and a woman — Vandiver was not allowed to sponsor Velandia for a green card in the same way a heterosexual person could for his or her spouse. The Department of Homeland Security nevertheless decided to drop deportation efforts against him Wednesday.

Velandia told FoxNews.com that Wednesday’s ruling was a “big, uplifting moment” and the product of a year’s worth of hard work on behalf of the couple’s attorney, Lavi Soloway.

“I can now be with Josh, my husband, in this country without fear of being torn apart,” he said on Friday. “It’s like our first day building up our life together. But we know the fight is not over. We’re going to keep fighting for marriage equality for all the couple who are in the same situation.”

CIS:  Obama Administration abusing executive authority

But Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies, said the decision is misguided prosecutorial discretion that could “destroy the credibility” of immigration law in the United States.

“This is another instance of the Obama administration’s abuse of executive authority on behalf of select groups of removable aliens that it thinks are sympathetic to make a run around Congress and provide amnesty to as many illegal aliens as possible,” Vaughan said. “These people are props for the administration, which is uncomfortable in its mission to enforce immigration laws. What they’re really doing here with this policy of discretion is giving a free pass to huge numbers of people who have been living here illegally.”

By the way, this whole LGBT business is now the next big asylum excuse!  What! Do we just take peoples’ word for it that they are homosexual, or bi-sexual or transgender?

Oh, and did you see that the Pakistanis are p*****-off at the US State Department for an Embassy LGBT pride event; they called it cultural genocide by the US against Pakistan.

Blue Maryland seeing Red on immigration

Sorry no time to go into it today, but just wanted readers to know about this unbelievable political shake-up in Blue Maryland on illegal immigration.    The mainstream media has missed one of the hottest political stories of the summer in Maryland as organizers of a petition drive to put a new law (signed by Democrat Governor Martin O’Malley) that would give in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens will (I predict) succeed in being taken to referendum.

The drive ends today and the Washington Post finally wrote about it as a news story yesterday!   Be sure to check out what they say about what an impact this initiative will have on the national discussion about immigration—-Blue Maryland sends a message!

From the Washington Post:

Growing frustration with illegal immigration, rising public debt and an effective Internet campaign to gather voters’ signatures have put Maryland conservatives on the cusp of a victory to delay and possibly repeal a new law that would give undocumented immigrants in-state college tuition breaks.

Read the Post article and learn more about the national ramifications of a potentially successful referendum in Maryland (of all places!).

For Fox News (esp. Glenn Beck) fans and Jihad Watch readers note that the Democratic Party has sent its big dog to Maryland to represent the major illegal alien advocacy group—CASA de Maryland, here.  Note that Joseph E. Sandler, former general counsel of the DNC has threatened to sue many conservatives in order to silence their speech.  He and his comrades are now working overtime in Maryland!

Don’t read about Angelina Jolie in Malta today (unless you are in the mood to barf)

Malta, poor little Malta, being overrun by African economic migrants (thanks partly to Obama’s war on Libya and that wonderful Obama-supported Arab Spring) and now we have to stomach Jolie there pontificating about refugees.  Let them loose she says!

I was planning to do a few excerpts from this fawning story at the Times of Malta about Jolie—the UN’s traveling mouthpiece—but I simply can’t.  Go read it yourself.

She says the UN is careful to separate the economic (illegal alien) migrants from the truly persecuted (of course taking the migrants word for it!), but as far as I know I’ve never heard of the UN deporting anyone back to Africa after determining they are only looking for a job.

Canada: Catholic School trustee not off the hook yet for “insensitive” remarks

You can tell by the rage expressed by Canada’s Open Borders activists that this story isn’t over yet.  A Catholic school official apologized, but I assure you grovelling is not enough for these people and I predict he will be gone soon.

From the Toronto Star:

Rookie Catholic school trustee Frank D’Amico ate a large piece of humble pie at a board meeting Thursday night, but refugee advocates are disappointed that it wasn’t followed by disciplinary dessert.

D’Amico read a statement at the start of a Toronto Catholic District School Board meeting in which he said he regretted statements that have been “reported in the media.”

“They were insensitive” and the comments did not reflect board policies on the admission of students, he said.

Comment about September 11th is beyond the pale

D’Amico said he understood board policy does not deny admission to students based on their parents’ immigration status and this reflects provincial law.

The trustee’s apology was in response to a furor created after an email he sent to social work student Nadia Saad, who is currently out of the country. Saad had written him about a woman whose nephew was denied enrolment at three Catholic high schools because he didn’t have immigration papers.

D’Amico replied that the student’s aunt was “lucky I didn’t answer the phone because my first call would be to Immigration Canada.”

He said in the email he wanted to remind her of “911. September 11, the day that changed the world” and he added “I am (sic) forward your concern to the RCMP and to Immigration Canada.’’

At the meeting, Trustee Maria Rizzo said the board is “accepting of all students, no matter what.’’

Apology not enough!  Never enough!

And that incenses refugee advocates, who spoke at the meeting Thursday. Farrah Miranda, an organizer with No One is Illegal — Toronto told the Star D’Amico’s “forced apology” is not enough.

So far the Catholic school is sticking with their man, but for how long?   I don’t know enough about Canada’s Catholic Church to know if they are as deeply infiltrated by the hard Left as the American Catholic Church, readers might want to check out this relatively new US website on the matter—Exposing Marxism in the Church (here).

Oh, and be sure to check out the comments to the story in the Toronto Star.
