"Diversity is strength" says Minnesota mayor!

Be careful what you wish for!
Haven’t you all seen what is happening to Canada since the boy wonder just north of your border said the same thing?

Marv Calvin
Willmar mayor Marv Calvin. Willmar open for business—for Jenny-O turkey slaughterhouse.

They are rolling out the welcome mat in Minnesota (and not just for the NFL).
Come to think about it, the NFL has put its faith in that rag-tag Minneapolis PD (yikes!).
From the Star Tribune:

City leaders across Minnesota are passing “welcoming” resolutions in an effort to send a message that their communities are inclusive amid growing national tension around the issue of immigration.

City councils in Willmar and St. Joseph, two central Minnesota cities that are becoming increasingly diverse, are expected to discuss resolutions Monday. The measures don’t change policy but are considered symbolic.

“This resolution will just tell everybody ‘We want you in Willmar,’ ” Mayor Marv Calvin said, adding he expects the resolution will pass.

It isn’t America First! or Minnesota First! It is M-O-N-E-Y First!

“Willmar’s strength is in its diversity,” Calvin said. “If people feel they’re not welcome to a community, that’s detrimental to economic development.”

Willmar, a city of nearly 20,000 residents two hours west of Minneapolis, has long had a large Latino population. In recent years, it has also seen a growing number of immigrants from East African nations. Calvin said the newcomers have helped the city flourish with new businesses.

But the resolution isn’t meant just for immigrants and first-generation Americans. It also is designed to send a message to people who were born in Willmar or used to live there that they should return, he said.

“Willmar is open for business,” he added.

***Update*** See CAIR organizing in Willmar, here.

In St. Joseph, residents formed a group called Cultural Bridges more than a year ago to build connections, especially between Christians and Muslims and the town’s Somali refugees and longtime residents after a Somali man stabbed*** 10 people at the Crossroads Center mall in nearby St. Cloud in 2016.

Since then, the group has taught adult basic education classes, provided homework tutoring and launched a jobs search program for Somali immigrants.

The group will ask the City Council on Monday to consider a welcoming resolution. It also plans to post fliers affirming inclusivity after white nationalist posters were plastered across the city illegally. [See posters here.—ed]

“The City Council has a great opportunity. … This is not something that should be met with silence,” said Raj Chaphalkar, a member of the group. “It may seem obvious, but sometimes we need leaders to say [these words] out loud. This is a good place to be for everybody.”

More here.
We have a massive archive on Minnesota where resettlement of Somalis began in earnest about 30 years ago thanks to resettlement contractors: Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services and World Relief.  I’ve been there twice now myself.
***They like knives.  Just ask the young white woman attacked and stabbed by a man described as Somali (still on the loose?) recently. Her story was in my top three stories of last month, see here.

Kansas: Refugee office to close in "slaughterhouse" city

From time to time I’ve posted stories on refugee resettlement offices closing due to the fact that fewer refugees (aka paying clients) are now arriving in the US (see post yesterday with latest numbers), but I don’t post all of them.

david Miliband manahattan
Moneybags Miliband (here in Manhattan) makes nearly $700,000 annually as CEO of the IRC, but they can’t afford to keep this Kansas office open.  Fine by me, but do any of you humanitarians out there find this a bit disconcerting?

This one caught my eye because I have written many times over the years about Garden City, Kansas and its Tyson Foods plant that has attracted cheap immigrant labor for years.
Rarely do you see such a direct connection drawn between “slaughterhouse” jobs and the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP).
This time it is the giant International Rescue Committee closing its doors in GC, while its CEO (a British national based in Manhattan) pulls down a salary in excess of $600,000 a year (here).
Changing the heartland, one meatpacker at a time should be the USRAP’s motto!
From KCUR 89.3:

A humanitarian [ha!ha!—ed] group that helps refugees settle in western Kansas among plentiful slaughterhouse jobs is shutting down its office in the region amid changing rules that welcome fewer newcomers to the country and the state.

The International Rescue Committee, or IRC, says a falling number of refugees prompted the agency’s plans to shutter its Garden City office at the end of September.

Kansas took in 580 refugees in the 12-month period that ended Sept. 30, compared to 914 the year before. IRC officials said they expect the drop-off to look even more dramatic this year.

That trend reflects tightening U.S. State Department guidelines that make it harder for refugees to seek sanctuary in the United States.

In addition, a State Department spokeswoman said that in December the department told resettlement agencies it would withdraw funding from sites that take on fewer than one hundred refugees each year. The federal government gives those local agencies about $2,100 for each refugee.

This next bit was news to me.  I had no idea local hospitals were carrying some of the refugee care load jointly with a federal resettlement contractor! Why isn’t Tyson Foods taking care of the needs of its workers?

Many refugees in western Kansas turn to Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas, for health and social services. The hospital, in turn, depends on the IRC to take care of essential services such as food, housing, education and job placement, said hospital CEO Benjamin Anderson.

Garden City USA: Immigration to the Heartland
Orientation for Somali workers at Garden City Tyson Foods plant.

[….]

Anderson said the IRC plays the primary role for helping refugees in the area, and when the organization’s Garden City office closes, his hospital may have to take over some of its services.

Garden City is home to many refugees, including a large Somali community, which was the target of an alleged bomb plot last year. That incident and it’s upcoming trial in March have brought renewed attention to the city’s wide range of immigrants — a portion of whom are refugees — from Mexico, South America and Africa. In the local school district, for example, English is a second language for nearly half the students.

So who is paying for refugee support services so that Tyson Foods has a ready supply of cheap labor—local taxpayers!
But, don’t get too excited about a possible slowdown of needy people arriving in Garden City because we expect to hear that Tyson Foods will bus in migrants from other places to satisfy their desire for “slaughterhouse” workers.
Hey, I’ve been referring to them in a more sanitized way—meatpackers—I like this more descriptive word—slaughterhouse!

Lancaster, PA: Church World Service puts on sob story event, never mentions their federal boodle!

CWS_small2Church World Service, one of the nine major federal resettlement contractors***, paraded ‘refugees’ before the public in a media event designed to put-down the President (and by extension, you, who voted for him!).
This isn’t pick-on-Church-World-Service week, but they seem to be conspicuously out in front leading the Open Borders political activism (along with their friends at HIAS) recently.
See my previous posts, here and here (see if your church is a member of CWS demonstrating with CAIR).
In Lancaster (Amish country) they put on one of many events as part of their first anniversary bash-Trump campaign to gain support for more refugee admissions (for more paying clients for them).

Here is Lancaster Online:

Three years ago, Palestinian writer Emtiaz Zourob said goodbye to her husband and two children and fled Gaza after being warned her life was in danger because of her views.

U.S. authorities granted her asylum and led her to believe her family would be able to join her in Lancaster, where she was resettled.

Palestinian in Lancaster
CWS’s Palestinian poster girl can’t understand how America could have elected “this man.”

Then, with election of Donald Trump as president, Zourob’s hopes for family reunification crashed. [Family reunification=chain migration.—ed]

On Saturday, one year after Trump suspended admittance of people from seven Muslim-majority countries, including Palestinians, Zourob told her story at a Church World Service forum on refugees.

About 60 attended the panel discussion at Lancaster Theological Seminary. Refugees from Congo, Somalia and Sudan also told their stories.

I have a lot of questions about Zourob’s story.  First and foremost she must have gotten in to the US on her own (illegally?) in order to have applied for asylum.  How did she do that? Who paid her way? What is the real story here? And, then if her family is in Egypt (no longer in ‘dangerous’ Gaza) surely she can join them there.
Lancaster Online continues….

Zourob, in an interview, said that in 2016 her husband, son and 10-year-old daughter applied for asylum at the U.S. embassy in Cairo and expected to obtain visas granting them entry.

Zourob, 37, hoped she would be seeing them soon and told friends in Gaza she liked the United States.

“I told them I feel like I’m home because all the people here, they are very nice with me,” she said. “But after Trump, I’m not sure about this actually, if it’s still my home or not.”

“It’s very difficult to explain, but the American people, they choose this man to lead America,” she said.

Go here for more on CWS’s Lancaster PR campaign.
A Church World Service rep once told me that they get the first refugees planted (no he didn’t use that word) and then follow-up in subsequent years with helping bring in the family.

CWS fuck
Do your tax dollars pay for political action by ‘loving’ Christians like this one?

Why is Church World Service really so worked up?

The answer is that they are paid millions of dollars annually from the federal treasury for their ‘Christian good works’ and Trump is cutting off the money train.
How much exactly are they getting from the Department of State, the Department of Health and Human Services, HUD, Homeland Security, and the Defense Department? You can find out at USASpending.gov.
First I looked at their federal grants and contracts for FY2008 to FY2018 and this is what I found (screenshot of first page below):
Forget ‘humanitarianism!’ This is about M-O-N-E-Y!
Nearly $450 MILLION since 2008 for Church World Service alone!

Screenshot (174)
This is just the first page of many pages!

So what did they get (involuntarily) from your wallets in FY2017 (end of Obama and beginning of Trump presidencies.)  Screenshots below are of three pages for FY17:

Screenshot (175)
Screenshot (177)
Screenshot (178)

Now, see why they are so upset!
Look at USA Spending for the first 3 months of FY18 (Fiscal years begin Oct. 1 of previous year).
For 3 months, only $171,950 in sub-grants!
Yikes! No wonder they are working so hard against this President!

***Church World Service is just one of the nine (and not one of the largest recipients of your generosity)!  This was so much fun, I think I’ll try to do more of these!
The number in parenthesis is the portion of their budget that you involuntarily pay!

Forget about their pawn Zourob, they cannot survive without federal boodle!

Somali who stabbed two in Mall of America in November says it was an act of Jihad

Americans will not be safe as long as “your country is at war with Islam.”

(Mahad Abdiaziz Adbiraham)

But, surprise! Authorities have not yet decided to bring terrorism charges against him.
For background on Adbiraham, go here.
Below (hat tip Bob) is the latest on the case.  Interestingly, the victims (the Sanchez brothers) are out of the country, but promise to return for the sentencing.  Hmmm? We will see if they do return next month.
From KSTP.com:

On Thursday, 20-year-old Mahad Abdiaziz Adbiraham pleaded guilty to stabbing two men at the Mall of America.

mahad-abdiaziz-abdirahman-mugshot (1)
Adbiraham is most likely a refugee, or the child of a refugee, because almost all Somalis in the US are here through the US Refugee Admissions Program.

The incident occurred on Nov. 12, where authorities say he stabbed two brothers in a dressing room at the mall’s Macy’s.

At the plea hearing Thursday, Abdiraham’s attorney read a statement — which is public record — to the courtroom, which explained why he attacked the two men.

In the statement, Abdiraham said he went to the Mall of America to answer the “call for jihad by the Chief of Believer, Abu-bakr Al-baghdadi, may Allah protect him, and by the Mujahiden of the Islamic State.”

The statement added, “I understand that the two men I stabbed know and have explained the reason for my attack, and I am here reaffirming that it was indeed an act of Jihad in the way of Allah.”

Abdiraham also said in the statement that Americans will not be safe as long as “your country is at war with Islam.”

Omar Jamal is back! Longtime readers know that I have followed his ‘career’ as the Somali mouthpiece for a decade! Click here for my huge archive on him.

Omar Jamal, an activist with a Somali watchdog group, said he is aware of the statement.

“This is a widespread sentiment with Somali youth,” he said.

Incredible! Jamal says if you stop them leaving the country for Jihad, they will do it here!

Jamal said the federal government’s effort to make it difficult for would-be jihadists to travel abroad and join a terrorist group has had unintended consequences locally.

“What is very concerning in this instance, is the fact that youth are exploring more ‘How can I do something here, what weapons are accessible,'” he said.

[….]

The two victims are out of the country, but court documents say they plan to return in time for Abdiraham’s sentencing in February.

If? If?

If authorities determine the stabbing was an act of terrorism, there could be more legal consequences for Abdirahahm.

So when they tell us, why aren’t we listening?

A reader asks: Who is resettling refugees in North Carolina?

And, part 2 of reader Robert’s question was: How can I find out where those Aussie detainees will be placed in my state?
Robert’s question was in response to this post:

Flight glitch causes some delay as Australia’s rejected ‘refugees’ head to US

I’m glad he asked because it reminds me that there are so many people reading RRW now who haven’t been with me for the last almost 11 years and so they have missed information previously posted.
First, a reminder that at the top of RRW (under the header) is a page entitled: FAQS! Finding Stuff.  I think most of you will find something useful there. And, if you are just relying on e-mail notices about each of my posts and not coming to the blog, you are missing a lot.  (Even if you aren’t on twitter, if you come to RRW you will see my twitter feed in the right hand column and see other related news that I don’t have time to post!)
Linked in FAQS! is the US State Department’s State-by-State index of refugee contractors working in your states. I don’t know how thorough they are with keeping it updated, you may find errors in contact information and phone numbers.

burmese-biter
Writing about NC reminds me: Does anyone know whatever happened to the Burmese biter who was being resettled in NC last spring?   https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2017/05/28/burmese-biter-was-headed-for-new-bern-nc-are-we-importing-mentally-ill-in-refugee-program/

But, before I post the offices in North Carolina—a state with a huge number of contractors at work—on the issue of where the Australian rejected ‘refugees’ are going, I doubt you will find out.
If you called each office in NC, they will tell you you can’t have that information (privacy). The only possibility of finding out is if some local newspaper is inquisitive enough, but expect any story to be of the squishy PC variety.
You might consider contacting your members of Congress and see if they can find out. They likely won’t have any more luck than you, but it will be a good lesson (for them) in how this program is run so secretively.
Also, since there are large numbers of Burmese refugees in NC already, look to the Rohingya (Burmese Muslims) we have been told are coming from Australia to be placed in Burmese communities even though we know that Burmese Christians fear the Rohingya refugees.
The Burmese Rohingya Muslims are not on the Trump “banned” countries list.

Eight of nine federal contractors*** are working in North Carolina attesting to the fact that the state has rolled out the welcome mat!

Here are screenshots of the federal contractors’ contact information for North Carolina (a state they are turning blue through immigration).
In the left hand corner, as in this first screenshot, is each subcontractor’s primary contractor.
See the contractor list at the end of this post. The only tricky one is Episcopal Migration Ministries which often hides behind its other name: Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society (DFMS).

Knowledge is power!
I urge all of you to use the FAQS! here at the top of the page and do some research. Then type your state’s name into my search window and find out what I’ve reported from your state during the last ten plus years!
***These are the nine federal contractors that monopolize all US resettlement. Only the IRC is absent from NC. Number in parenthesis is the amount of federal dollars (your money) going to their budgets.
