The refugee arrival numbers would have to really take off in the next few months for the Trump Administration to get anywhere near the CEILING they proposed last September of 45,000 for FY18 which ends on September 30th. So far, in 4 months, 6,704 refugees have been placed with almost every state seeing a few at least. Only Hawaii, Delaware, Mississippi and Wyoming have seen none. However, as regular readers know, Wyoming is the only state that has never had a program. Which will hold the record?
Will Trump break George Bush’s record?
At this rate, we could see around 20,000 admitted for the whole year which would give President Trump the distinction of the Prez admitting the lowest numbers in the history of the Refugee Act of 1980. (Kennedy, Biden, Jimmy Carter) George W. Bush holds the present record of two years in the 20,000’s. In the immediate wake of 9/11, Bush admitted 27,070 in 2002 and 28,117 in 2003.
Here is where the 6,704 for FY18 have been distributed so far:
From WRAPSNET, the State Department’s Refugee Processing Center. I know numbers are hard to read. http://www.wrapsnet.org/admissions-and-arrivals/
Top Ten ‘welcoming’ states so far this year are:
Ohio
Texas
Washington
New York
California
Pennsylvania
North Carolina
Illinois
Georgia
Michigan
Broken record alert! Reducing numbers for a few years is good because it gives some overloaded communities a reprieve, however, unless the law is reformed nothing will be permanent and the post-Trump era could see a huge push to make up for what the Open Borders Left would see as lost time.

Neil Munro tells us about the losses at Breitbart yesterday:
Immigrants Sent $140 Billion From U.S. Back To Homelands in 2016
In fact, we have written many times about how these dollars sent back to Central American countries, like El Salvador, from people here on Temporary Protected Status literally prop up the economy of the country.
When you look at the newly released numbers, think about how Mexico and other south of the border countries (that regularly storm our border) could make a decent contribution to the price tag of The Wall if the Administration taxed remittance dollars flowing to those countries!
Here is Breitbart:
Legal and illegal immigrants wired almost $140 billion from the United States back to their home countries and foreign relatives in 2016.
The huge loss of domestic spending by of immigrants’ remittances is spotlighted in a new report by the Pew Research Center, which also noted that $6.5 billion was sent back to the United States by foreign-based U.S. workers. That is a 21-fold difference and is enough money to support 2.6 million additional $50,000 jobs in the United States.
The remittance number is based on calculations by the World Bank.
Now here are the top receiving countries. For the full list go to the Pew report by clicking here.
Continue reading as Munro discusses the impact of the immigrant cheap labor supply entering the US.
I wonder if there is any way to determine how many of these dollars are taxpayer-supplied welfare dollars as opposed to those earned through gainful employment.
As regular readers know, there has been nothing temporary about this LEGAL immigration program called Temporary Protected Status(until now!).
In a long overdue process, President Trump’s Homeland Security Department has been ending TPS for nationals of many countries who have been here for over a decade in some cases.
However, TPS for Syrians will be continued for another 18 months and is only available for those Syrians who got in to the US (somehow?) before August 2016. (See my recent accounting of who was behind the push for Syrian TPS, here.)
Here is the snippy Trump-bashing news from HuffPo reporter Elise Foley:
WASHINGTON ― The Trump administration will leave some Syrians in the U.S. at risk of being deported while their country is still mired in war, but extend temporary protections for several thousand others, the Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday.
HuffPo quotes Meredith Owen a lawyer at Church World Service. CWS is paid millions of dollars annually (71% of its budget) from the US Treasury to take care of refugees admitted to the US, yet they seemingly spend all of their time politically agitating for more immigrants of all stripes, not just legitimate refugees.
The agency will extend temporary protected status, or TPS, for Syrians for another 18 months, which will allow an estimated 5,800 Syrians to legally continue living and working in the U.S. But Syrians who came to the U.S. after August 2016 will be shut out of the TPS program— despite the ongoing war in Syria and against the urging of human rights organizations, faith leaders and national security experts.
“After carefully considering conditions on the ground, I have determined that it is necessary to extend the Temporary Protected Status designation for Syria, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement. “It is clear that the conditions upon which Syria’s designation was based continue to exist, therefore an extension is warranted under the statute. We will continue to determine each country’s TPS status on a country-by-country basis.”
[….]
The president has also resisted extending TPS, which is granted to immigrants from countries hit by armed conflict, natural disasters or other urgent problems. Under Trump, DHS already ended TPS for El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua and Sudan and gave at least 250,000 nationals of those countries notice they needed to leave the United States. Trump also rescinded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, which puts 700,000 young undocumented immigrants who came as children at risk of deportation. All told, that’s nearly a million people who are set to lose work permits and protections under Trump.
[….]
Deportations to Syria are relatively uncommon, but they do happen. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported two Syrian nationals in the 2017 fiscal year and nine the year before, according to the agency.
LOL! That last line made me laugh. So intent are reporters like Foley to show Trump as the evil one, she can’t even mention the inconvenient fact that the nine Syrians deported in FY16 were deported under their Dear Leader—Barack Hussein Obama!
Don’t miss my posts this past week about Church World Service’s political agitation activities against the President, here and here. Mr. President, Cut them loose from the federal teat!
A federal judge in Florida has blocked the government from deporting the 92 Somalis who made it to West Africa before some yet-to-be-explained glitch caused their deportation flight to return to the US. See previous postshereand here. The usual argument is being raised that we can’t possibly return migrants who have committed crimes in the US back to S***hole countries. It would be inhumane, immigrant activists claim.
So, what this says to me is, if we will be barred from sending lawbreakers back, then we must vigorouslykeep them out of the US in the first place through robust screening.
Otherwise, taxpayers will be expected to pay for their incarceration for years!
From Courthouse News: Judge Gayles: https://ballotpedia.org/Darrin_P._Gayles
MIAMI (CN) – A federal judge temporarily blocked the government from deporting a group of Somali immigrants who say they were shackled and handcuffed for two days by immigration officials during a failed deportation attempt last month.
In a ruling issued Friday in Miami federal court, U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles said that the 92 Somali immigrants have the right to reopen their removal orders because they are looking “to apply or re-apply for asylum or withholding of deportation based on changed circumstances arising in the country of nationality or in the country to which deportation has been ordered.”
[….]
For decades, Somali nationals were rarely deported from the U.S. mainly because their country lacks a “functioning central government,” according to Gayles’ 14-page ruling, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement began deporting Somalis more often after changes to U.S. policies last year under the Trump administration.
Of course they blame it on Trump, but Obama was deporting Somalis as we told you herein 2013, and in 2005 the US Supreme Court said the US can send aliens back to where they came from—even to hellhole countries.
The botched deportation is now used as a further excuse about why they face threats in Somalia:
The immigrants argue that the international media attention surrounding the botched deportation has made it unsafe for them to return to Somalia because they would be targets of the extremist group Al-Shabaab, which believes that people returning to Somalia after living in Western nations for a long period of time are enemies of their cause.
[….]
U.S. law prohibits the deportation of individuals to countries where they could face political persecution or torture.
I bet those sneaky immigration lawyers never told the Judge that the Supreme Court said in 2005 that such deportations were legal, see here. The fact that the Bush Administration didn’t do it, doesn’t make it a law!
Lisa Lehner, a senior litigation attorney with Americans for Immigrant Justice, said in a statement that “the court’s thorough review of what it termed the ‘exceptional circumstances’ of this case reveals a depth of understanding of the plight of these individuals.”
The Somali immigrants are represented by Americans for Immigrant Justice, the American Civil Liberties Union, University of Miami Law Clinic, University of Minnesota Law School’s Center for New Americans and Broward Legal Aid.
More here. My prediction: This batch will be released back into your towns and cities. Minnesota here they come!
Clearly! the Christian, Jewish and secular federal resettlement agencies do not want extra vetting for Muslims from terror-producing countries. Oh no!
The Homeland Security Department announced Monday that it was lifting the outright ban on refugees from these eleven countries, but certain individuals would undergo greater scrutiny before they would be admitted to the US for you to take care of with your tax dollars.
Here is Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States will resume admissions for refugees from 11 countries identified as presenting a high security risk, but with extra vetting for these mostly Middle Eastern and African nations, senior U.S. officials said on Monday.
Dutchman Hans Van de Weerd wants your towns to have more Muslims. Bio here: http://www.phocuswrightconference.com/Whos-Coming/Speakers/2016/Hans-Van-de-Weerd
The changes came after a 90-day review of refugee admissions from Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Mali, North Korea, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria and Yemen by the State Department, Department of Homeland Security and intelligence agencies. [Note that Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Burma never were slowed in their flow to your towns.—-ed]
The new rules are the latest changes to the U.S. refugee program made by the administration of President Donald Trump to address what it sees as national security issues.
Some of the administration’s actions, including an executive order to temporarily ban all refugees, have sparked lengthy court battles. Refugee advocates*** have said they see the administration’s actions as intended to reduce the number of refugees, particularly those from Muslim countries.
Reuters reporter Yeganeh Torbati didn’t quote her go-to guy, Van de Weerd, this time, but the NYT did.
Here the New York Times quotes Hans Van de Weerdof the International Rescue Committee (see moneybags Miliband) and the Refugee Council USA (that is lobbying arm of the refugee industry which has been protesting along with CAIR and hired the Podesta Group to lobby Republicans for them in the Senate).
“This administration disproportionally targets Muslims,” said Hans Van de Weerd, a senior official at the International Rescue Committee. “Today’s announcement does not change this for the better.”
And, Hans (is he a US citizen?) is working against the President to be sure that American towns ‘welcome’ more Muslims. What else can you conclude? Dear readers, Extra vetting is something to cheer about, but remember it is not permanent. When Donald Trump leaves the White House in three or seven years, everything can revert back to the free-for-all we witnessed in the Obama years—unless Congress makes changes to the law!
***These are the primary “refugee advocates.” They are also the federally funded resettlement agencies you pay to act as community political activists secretively placing refugees in your towns and cities.
The number in parenthesis is the portion of their budget that you involuntarily pay! The Washington Post, Reuters, LA Timesand the New York Times will never tell you about their conflicts of interest!
Wouldn’t it be refreshing to see some big media outfit actually take a serious look at the structure/finances of the refugee industry (heck! I could retire!). Hey! Yeganeh! How about you?
One last thing, a wise fellow once told me that you must repeat information at least seven times before people will hear it. So if, as a regular student of the US Refugee Admissions Program, you are sick of hearing this about the contractors, know that rather than seven times, I’m working on 700 times!
