As violence in Burma escalates, US resettling more Rohingya Muslims

I don’t want to have to write a book (although I have written 201 posts on the topic at my Rohingya Reports category), so I’ll be brief with the background.

Burma is a Buddhist country and they want to keep it that way (I’m not judging them, you may).  So as a result, the US has for years been taking tens of thousands of ‘refugees’ representing Burmese minority religions. The largest numbers have been Christians.

Burmese monks
Burmese monks: No fear about political correctness! Imagine such a banner on a French or British street! (Or, San Francisco for that matter!)

So when I saw this latest news about an uptick in violence between the Buddhists and Muslims (Rohingya) by the Associated Press (story below), I had a check of  the number of Burmese being admitted to the US and how many are Muslims.

This isn’t just a story about far away Burma, this effects you—Americans—too!

The important takeaway from the numbers is that we brought no Rohingya to America in the first year I wrote RRW (2007), but I see that this year (2017) just over a quarter of the ‘refugees’ admitted from Burma are Muslim according to Wrapsnet.

The AP story references the 2012 riots between the Rohingya and Buddhists.  I saw the reports as they were coming in and the media shamefully never mentions that the fuse was lit that year when a Buddhist girl was raped and murdered by a gang of Muslim criminals.

Here are the facts about Rohingya resettlement to America:

In FY2008: We admitted 18,139 Burmese ‘refugees’ to America. The vast majority were Christians. None were Muslim.

I then checked numbers for FY2012: We admitted 14,160 ‘refugees’ from Burma and only 759 were Muslims (5%). After that year the numbers have steadily risen.

This year, so far in FY2017, we have admitted 4,803 Burmese and 1,269 are listed as Muslim (26%).

Here is the AP story which should be entitled, ‘Rohingya insurgent group takes responsibility for latest violence.’  Instead that news is 19 paragraphs down in the story.

Violence in Myanmar’s western Rakhine state has driven thousands of ethnic Rohingya Muslims fleeing toward Bangladesh for safety, along with a smaller exodus of ethnic Rakhine Buddhists.

A majority of the country’s estimated 1 million Rohingya live in the northern part of Rakhine state, where Rohingya insurgents launched coordinated attacks last week against police posts, setting off allegedly brutal retaliation by government forces.

Human rights groups and advocates for the Rohingya say the army retaliated by burning down villages and shooting civilians. The government blames Rohingya insurgents for the violence, including the arson.

[….]

Tension has long been high between the Rohingya Muslims and Rakhine Buddhists, leading to bloody rioting in 2012.

Most of the violence since last week seems to be directed at Rohingya villages, but Rakhine Buddhists, feeling unsafe after the upsurge in fighting, are moving south to the state’s capital, Sittwe, where Buddhists are a majority and have greater security.

[….]

A Rohingya insurgent group, the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, or ARSA, took responsibility for last week’s attacks on more than 25 locations, saying they were in defense of Rohingya communities.

More here.

Sure hope DHS is doing some “extreme vetting” on the Rohingya arriving in your towns and cities.

Ohio Somali slasher said he was angry because Buddhists in Burma mistreated Rohingya Muslims

So why is that our problem?

After all we admitted 18,000 Burmese Muslims to the US since 2006!

(Well, no one said this guy was brilliant after all!)

This is my fourth post of the day on how the Somali Islamic terrorist attack on Monday has inspired the news media in so many different directions.  See here, here, and here.

no-rohingya-islamists-in-myanmar
Buddhist monks in Burma in 2012 made it pretty clear they didn’t want the Muslim Rohingya in their country. Gee, maybe the Somali slasher story confirms why the Buddhists are so worried about devout Rohingya populating Burma.

This is a Reuters story that reports that the Ohio State Somali slasher had reached a “boiling point.”
One thing he was angry about was what he claims is happening to Rohingya Muslims in Burma. So, of course the logical conclusion is to go out and try to mow down American students with your car and slash as many of them as you can. (I’m going to bet his victims have no clue who the Rohingya are!).
But we do!
For over 8 years we have been trying to get the attention of some in government to question why we are bringing any Rohingya Muslims to the US.
The Somali slasher should have thanked America because we have admitted over 18,000 of them to Anytown, US since 2006!  The devout Rohingya have been wandering all over Southeast Asia for years and frankly they can’t be screened any better than the Syrians because the Buddhist government in Burma or the Muslim government in Bangladesh have few records (if any!) on them.
I predict that some of the ‘stateless’ migrants in the Australia deal are actually Rohingya.
For inquisitive minds! We have an entire category devoted to the Rohingya with 192 previous posts, see here.  Don’t miss this early one where Time magazine warned that Rohingya were radicalized.
Here is what Reuters said of the Somali slasher’s motives for trying to kill his fellow students:

ARTAN SPOKE OF “BOILING POINT”

Investigators were looking into a message posted on Facebook by Artan that contained inflammatory statements about being “sick and tired” of seeing Muslims killed and reaching a “boiling point,” a law enforcement source said.

“Stop the killing of the Muslims in Burma,” Artan said in the Facebook post.

Violence in Myanmar, which is also known as Burma, has sent Rohingya Muslims fleeing across the border to Bangladesh amid allegations of abuses by security forces.

I’m not going to rehash my Rohingya Reports archive. But, I do want to point you to this post from May 2013 in which we reported that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops testified to the US State Department that the Bishops wanted more Rohingya placed in America (I was there in person to hear this!—ed)

Looking at the data at Wrapsnet (Refugee Processing Center) for the last ten years we note that there was a drop in Burmese Muslim resettlement in 2010, 2011 and 2012, but the resettlement picked up dramatically again beginning in 2013.
289 Burmese Muslims were resettled in America in the first 6 weeks of this fiscal year.

To the incoming Trump team: It is not only Syrians who can’t be thoroughly vetted, the Burmese/Bangladeshi Rohingya can’t be either!

Dalai Lama: Germany must not become an Arab country

Invasion of Europe news….
He gets it!
These Buddhists are smarter and braver than your average Christian or Jew.  We saw that in Burma where the Buddhist monks had the courage to carry protest banners opposing Islam and the arrival of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) in Burma.

Now here is arguably the most important Buddhist world leader, the Dalai Lama saying Germany must take in fewer Muslim migrants and only keep them temporarily.
I saw this news last week and tweeted it, but since I’ve been away more of you have sent me the story so I thought I better post it.
From Breitbart:

The Dalai Lama has said there are too many migrants pouring into Europe, warning against the continent becoming Arabised, and claiming the solution is the eventual repatriation of migrants.

Agence France-Presse has reported that the leader of Tibetan Buddhism said: “When we look at the face of each refugee, but especially those of the children and women, we feel their suffering, and a human being who has a better situation in life has the responsibility to help them.

Dalai Lama book
Less peace of any kind if Islam continues the hijra to non-Muslim countries.

“But on the other hand, there are too many at the moment… Europe, Germany in particular, cannot become an Arab country, Germany is Germany”.

“There are so many that in practice it becomes difficult.”

The Dalai Lama added that “from a moral point of view too, I think that the refugees should only be admitted temporarily”.

“The goal should be that they return and help rebuild their countries.”

On this last point, we agree completely especially for the US.  Many people, when they first learn about the refugee program for their towns and cities, think it is a temporary arrangement.  It is not!

Almost 15,000 Burmese Muslims brought to US in last ten years

Yesterday, Obama was in Malaysia promising that our doors were open to Burmese Muslims known as the Rohingya.
Here are some numbers for you.  I went back ten fiscal years.  The vast majority of the refugees we take from Burma (aka Myanmar) are Christians.  See data base here (you will have to choose your parameters).  I ran data for FY2006 to FY2015.

Buddhist monks
In 2013 Buddhist monks protested efforts by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to get a foothold in Burma. “No Sharia Law” said monks not at all concerned with political correctness. Photo: http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2013/11/15/myanmar-releasespoliticalprisonersasforeigndelegationsvisit.html

We took 149,020 total ‘refugees’ from Burma, presumably because they were being persecuted by the majority Buddhist nation.  The largest number we’ve taken in are Christians of various sorts, but we did take over 22,000 Buddhists (I thought the Buddhist nation was throwing out their minorities so this doesn’t make sense to me).
What I really wanted to know was how many Burmese Muslims/Rohingya we have been admitting.
By the way, when Trump and other candidates mention their worries about Syrian Muslims they need to be educated on the FACT that hundreds of thousands of other Muslims are being admitted as refugees—such as the Somalis and the Iraqis (now both over 100,000 each).
In the last ten fiscal years we have admitted 14,695 Burmese Muslims to the US.
Here is the year-by-year breakdown:

FY ’06: 33

FY ’07: 2,034

FY’08: 2,816

FY’09: 1,273

FY’10: 910

FY’11: 771

FY’12: 759

FY’13: 1,064

FY’14: 1,209

FY’15: 3,809  (looks like they have kicked into high gear)

And so far in FY’16 we have admitted 17

Malaysia: Obama (today) meets with Rohingya (Burmese) Muslims on way to US

This story is a Drudge headline this morning:  Obama defiant: vows more refugees.
***Update*** November 22:  Almost 15,000 Burmese Muslim came in as refugees in last ten years, here.
He is in Malaysia, a safe Muslim country which is sending Rohingya Muslims (who arrive there illegally) to America!  So while we have anxiety about Syrian Muslims coming to the US, remember the US resettlement program has been bringing in Muslims from Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Burma (and other countries) for years.

Esar Met evil face
Meet Esar Met a Burmese Muslim sentenced to life in prison in Utah in 2014 when he was found guilty of brutally raping and murdering a little Christian Burmese girl in his Salt Lake City apartment complex. The medical examiner testified that she died in excruciating pain. Shame on the mainstream media for never reporting on this case outside of Utah. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/05/15/utah-burmese-muslim-refugee-sentenced-in-brutal-rapemurder-of-little-girl/

The Rohingya are especially fundamentalist Muslims we have been following for 8 years.  We have an extensive archive (Rohingya Reports) with 182 previous posts just on the situation in Burma and surrounding countries with the Rohingya.  (Want to write a book on Rohingya?  Your research is right here on these pages!)
In 2013 we reported that Anastasia Brown, on behalf to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, lobbied the US State Department to allow Rohingya Muslims to enter the US with a P-2 Designation meaning that they need not prove individually that they are persecuted, but that they would be admitted to the US as a class.
In other words, all they need do is say:  I am Rohingya and they are eligible for resettlement in your towns and cities.
Thousands are already here.   In our earliest years of reporting on Rohingya, the US State Department was not admitting them for fear that terrorists were among them.   All that has changed.
See the AP story at Myway:

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Pushing back against efforts to bar Syrian refugees from resettling in the U.S., President Barack Obama vowed Saturday that his country will be a welcoming place for millions fleeing violence around the world “as long as I’m president.”

Obama commented Saturday at a learning center in the Malaysian capital that serves the poor, including some refugees. He met with boys and girls wearing crisp white and black uniforms and neckties as they sat at tables and worked on painting and puzzle projects.

[….]

Most of the children the president met with are Rohingya, a Muslim ethnic group. Tens of thousands of Rohingya have fled Myanmar to escape persecution by the country’s Buddhist majority, with many ending up in Malaysia, where Obama was attending a regional economic summit.

[….]

The refugees Obama met with have all been cleared to come to the U.S. and have been assigned to specific cities, the White House said.

Earlier this year we reported that 12,615 Burmese Muslims had been admitted to the US in the last ten year.  I’ll have to do an update of those numbers when I get a minute (Ha!).  BTW, the majority population of Burma (aka Myanmar) is Buddhist and they want the country to remain majority Buddhist.  Even the famed human rights activist from Burma has angered the humanitarian industrial complex by not speaking out on behalf of rights for Rohingya.
See why Obama is angry (in my opinion). His job was to get them in here as part of the UN agenda, and he has hit a roadblock!—YOU!
Addendum:  How could I forget.  Hillary has been touting her ‘success’ in Burma while Secretary of State.  Then why are we taking thousands of Burmese Muslims to the US if she has done such a good job?  You must see this post!  Podesta Group sent to Burma to shore up her image!
