Four cases of active TB reported in refugees in Indiana!

TB AlertYikes! Literally moments after posting my previous post on Tuberculosis in the US refugee population, up pops another shocking report from Michael Patrick Leahy at Breitbart with the news that yes, indeed, there is active TB in the refugee community (at least in Indiana!).
Just a reminder, in 2007, it was news from Indiana, from Ft. Wayne to be exact, that alarmed me and was part of the inspiration for me to continue writing this blog.  See that original post here (Ft. Wayne freaking out!).
Now to Breitbart:

Four refugees sent to Indiana by the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement in 2015 were diagnosed with active tuberculosis once they arrived in the Hoosier State, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

Active tuberculosis (TB) is infectious, while so-called “latent TB” is not infectious. But 10 percent of those infected with latent TB develop active infectious TB.

In 2015, almost 400 migrants with latent TB settled in Indiana, according to state records. The state’s TB rate had declined for the 54 years up to 2010, but it now increasing as more migrants settle in the state.

Continue here.  You don’t want to miss this!
Be sure to note the large percentage of refugees who arrived in the state and were never health-screened at all after arriving.

Iowa jobs programs for refugees could cost state taxpayers hundreds of thousands

The story is from the Des Moines Register today (hat tip: Joanne).

State Senator Bob Dvorsky
Iowa State Senator Janet Petersen (D) is working to find the money for more refugee “services” in the state budget.

Hey, folks in Montana and Wyoming, listen up!  When the wannabe refugee contractors tell you that the refugee resettlement program for your state will cost your state and local taxpayers zip, zero, nada, refer your elected officials to this article about the need for a jobs program and more “services” for the 10,000 refugees who have been placed in the state.  (Apparently the meatpacker employers don’t pay enough!)
$350,000 is being sought from the state legislature to help fund RefugeeRise and it’s “advocacy” efforts on behalf of (mostly Burmese?) refugees who don’t have enough “services.”
Of course, the first question I have is where is the refugee resettlement agency that placed them in the first place, aren’t they already being paid to help refugees get “services” and jobs?
RefugeeRise appears to me to be yet one more taxpayer-funded subsidiary of an expanding refugee industry.
This is, after all, an industry!

Springfield, Massachusetts: Refugees arrested for hunting in public park

Check out this story!
They weren’t hunting rabbits or deer, but birds, turtles and frogs! With slingshots!  What the heck, where is their resettlement agency?  Doesn’t it teach them that this isn’t done in America?  Aren’t they being fed enough, they get food stamps!
And, what must the environmentalists of Massachusetts be thinking?  Where is PETA, by the way?

Burmese Karen refugees arrested for killing animals with slingshots: From left are Hsa Wah, Kehney Moo and Patty Poo

Longtime readers know that Springfield, MA (in the land of Ted Kennedy the ‘brains’ behind the Refugee Act of 1980) has been a ‘pocket of resistance’ to more refugee resettlement as the Mayor has begged the resettlement contractors to slow the flow to the overloaded town.
See our complete Springfield archive here.
Previously we learned that the resettlement agencies working in Springfield included  Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts and the renamed Lutheran Social Service of New England (see here where the CEO of Ascentria Care, the new name, says refugee resettlement is BIG BUSINESS!).  Clearly they are doing a pretty awful job of assimilating the refugees they resettle!
Here is the news at MassLive.com (hat tip: Jill):

SPRINGFIELD – Three men were arrested and charged with illegally hunting in Forest Park Wednesday afternoon after police allegedly found them in the park shooting animals with slingshots.

The three men, Patty Poo, 54, of 211 Oakland St., Kehney Moo, 38, of 83 Acushnet Ave., and Hsa Wah, 60 of 85 Acushnet Ave., were each charged with cruelty to animals, hunting without a license, violation of Forest Park hunting ordinances, and breach of the peace while armed with a sling shot.

According to Springfield Police spokesman Sgt. John Delaney, police were called to a section of Forest Park at about 2:15 p.m. after receiving calls about people seen hunting birds in the park.

Officers responded to the area and found Wah, Moo and Poo with a bag containing dead turtles, frogs and birds, Delaney said.

The three were armed with slingshots and were apparently using small rocks and auto lug nuts for ammunition, he said.

Be sure to see this story at MassLive about how much commentary this story has generated.  And, note that the case is on hold because a proper translator must be found!
Remember ‘welcoming’ communities!  You must pay for interpreters when your refugees get in trouble with the law, have problems with medical care, and have issues in the school system!

Maybe the resettlement contractor responsible for the trio should be billed for their court costs instead of the taxpayer!

About the Burmese refugees….

We are told that these three are Karen (Christian) Burmese.  They make up most of probably the largest ethnic group we have resettled since 2005.  (Although Iraqi refugees are catching up).

How many Burmese refugees are we taking?

The mostly Christian Burmese are one of the largest (if not the largest) ethnic group of refugees we have resettled since 2005 (I checked the data from January 2005 until May 1, 2015).

This is what I learned:  We resettled 140,812 Burmese refugees since 2005.

This surprised me:  In that number were 12,615 Burmese Muslims!

In refugee-saturated Buffalo, NY, violence leaves Burmese refugee paralyzed

This is a story we have written before, not the specific refugee nor the specific city, but the story about violence perpetrated against refugees as the resettlement contractors overload poor neighborhoods with third world refugees (many of whom have lived protected lives in UN camps) who don’t know how to live among thugs who are not at all moved by the multi-culti myth that diversity brings strength.

There are too many diverse ethnic groups being dumped into cities across the country by Federal resettlement contractors (they call themselves VOLAGs. They are anything but Voluntary!) and the US State Department where the ‘humanitarians’ apparently believe that a melting pot still exists, melting will happen, and everyone will live happily ever after.

See our many posts on problems in Buffalo, NY, here.

By the way, Buffalo political leaders think the many immigrants are going to save their city.  But, be sure to check out what is happening in another New York city—Utica—-the town that “loves refugees” where the city has sued the state of New York for more tax payer funding as its school system is deteriorating due to a large influx of needy children from the third world.   Ten years ago, the UNHCR gave Utica the title and used their report on Utica as propaganda around the country to convince other towns and cities to “welcome” refugees.

From the Buffalo News:

Only after laborious therapy has the Burmese immigrant of Karen ethnicity regained movement in his right arm. The comfortable room is not in a hotel, but in Terrace View nursing home near Erie County Medical Center. Wah has been hospitalized since a mugging last June left him paralyzed, a disheartening symbol of the assaults and break-ins afflicting the immigrant population on Buffalo’s West Side.

Burmese refugee left paralyzed after beating in Buffalo.

The county executive last week celebrated the recent influx of immigrants, which has staunched the county’s three-decade population bleed. The other side of the immigrant story is K’Paw Wah. He was born and raised in a Thai refugee camp, after his parents fled from oppressive Burmese rulers. He and his two daughters four years ago followed his older brother to Buffalo.

Wah’s dream of freedom ended violently. Heading home from a West Side convenience store late one night, he was jumped by at least two men with, he recalled, “their faces covered.” The attackers, Wah told me in halting but clear English, threw him hard to the ground, breaking his neck.

Is your town considering “welcoming” refugees?

If so remember you will need more funding, more police, more translators, etc. etc.

Wah’s fate is the grimmest reminder of the fragility of the immigrant population. Buffalo’s West Side is the end point for Burmese, Somalis, Burundi and other newcomers. Circumstances render them vulnerable and tough to protect. Language barriers, a lack of translators and a distrust of police related to abuse in their homeland contribute to their problems. Critics say police and city officials have been slow to respond to the challenge. Dozens of frustrated Burmese went public with their complaints this month at a Common Council meeting.

Lisa Strand said similar community outreaches the past several months have spurred good-faith efforts from police.

“There’s recently been a lot of progress,” said Strand, attorney for Buffalo’s Legal Aid Bureau. “But the police need a formal translator-access plan and to grasp the larger scope of this.”

Who is responsible for overloading Buffalo with refugees?

Remember that we told you last week that Lutheran Social Service is responsible for the Somalis in St. Cloud, well, whew! look at this! We have five of the nine major contractors divvying up what must be a large flow of refugees to Buffalo (and LOL! I bet they each fight to keep their number of paying ‘clients’ up).  From the very handy US State Department list of subcontractors with offices in 180 or so US cities:

In refugee-saturated North Carolina, Burmese refugee kills Burmese children in his neighborhood

Update March 19th:  See refugee agency “disturbed” and quick to say refugees have criminal background checks before arriving in the US.  So what about mental illness screening?  The victims had only been in the US for just a little over 4 months.

He was described as crazy and people feared him.

So the next time a resettlement contractor tells you that refugees are screened before entering the US, remember that mental illness is obviously not a bar to admission.

The accused murderer, 18 year old Eh Lar Doh Htoo is believed to be Karen (Christian).

Although this creep doesn’t appear to be a Muslim as was the Burmese child murderer in Utah, Esar Met, he should never have been allowed into the US.  His mental problems were likely apparent to his interviewers as were Met’s.

From the Charlotte Observer (hat tip: Cathy):

NEW BERN, N.C.

A Burmese immigrant accused of stabbing three young brothers to death had scared a different neighborhood family by knocking on their door several times in the middle of the night.

“He’s crazy,” neighbor Ner Wah said Wednesday. “I told my wife: ‘Be careful. Don’t answer the door.'”

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Eh Lar Doh Htoo, attacked a Burmese family in their home Tuesday night with a knife, killing the brothers — ages 1, 5 and 12, police said. When officers arrived, he was still holding the knife, New Bern Police Chief Toussaint Summers Jr. told The Associated Press.

Htoo also wounded the brothers’ mother and their 14-year-old sister. Police said they don’t know a motive for the attack and a language barrier hampered their investigation.   [Expensive interpreters will be called in and you, the taxpayer, pay for that service—ed]

[….]

New Bern is a coastal town and home to about 1,900 Burmese refugees, who resettled in the area after fleeing persecution from the country once called Burma.

[….]

Susan Husson, executive director of the Interfaith Refugee Ministry in New Bern, said the victims’ family and the suspect’s family likely came through her office before settling in New Bern, but she didn’t know them personally.

20,581 refugees were resettled in North Carolina since January 2005. 7,432 of them were Burmese.

Interfaith Refugee Ministry

On this last point (above) two comments:  First, interesting that they must resettle so many refugees in New Bern that the director doesn’t even know the people she has brought to the city.  And, then reader Cathy pointed out that maybe people are catching on and someone directed this reporter to the agency responsible for bringing them to New Bern— Interfaith Refugee Ministry.  It used to be very rare for reporters to figure out there was an agency involved when refugees ‘find their way’ to this town or that town.

Checking a recent Form 990 for Interfaith Refugee Ministry, we learned that they took in $1,138,222 one recent year and $1,054,809 came to them from you—via government grants.  They are 93% funded by taxpayer dollars, therefore they are an arm of the federal government, not a charitable ‘church’ group!

How many Burmese Muslims are entering the US?

Again, the accused killer is being described as belonging to the Karen ethnic group which are Christians.

However, I was recently shocked doing some numbers research to learn that the US admitted 1,439 Burmese Muslims to the US in 2014 alone.

North Carolina is not in the Top Ten resettlement states, but falls just short of making the list, here, at number twelve.
