ORR snubs Michigan elected official, says it is his duty to find out about quarterly meetings

We have reported on the legally required quarterly ‘stakeholder’ meetings that are held (or should be held) in every community being seeded with refugees.  Those meetings are largely secretive with few (if any) being announced in local newspaper public notices.  (Here is what we said in May 2015, and in October 2015 about the quarterly consultations).  LOL! they have only been holding the legally required consultations since 2013 as you will see in my October 2015 post.

This is Bob Carey, the Director of the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). ORR is in Health and Human Services. Carey was formerly a VP at the federal contractor International Rescue Committee. Where is Congress, couldn’t they disallow this revolving door between government agency and contractor (and back again!)?

We assume that the resettlement contractors only want to include ‘their’ people and the fewest number possible representing impacted agencies in the community, thus the secrecy.
From Michael Patrick Leahy at Breitbart:

Robert Carey, the Obama administration’s director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), recently told Oakland County, Michigan that the agency he directs has no intention of complying with the Refugee Act of 1980‘s requirement that it “consult regularly …with local governments concerning the sponsorship process and the intended distribution among the States and localities before their placement in those States and localities.”

[….]

Carey places the burden for finding out about these “consultation” meetings and attending them on Oakland County. The Refugee Act of 1980, however, requires both the director of ORR and “the federal agency administering the program,” which could mean an employee of ORR, to consult with the locality prior to the placement of refugees there. The statute does not include any provision to accomplish this consultation through the State Refugee Coordinator, who actually is an employee of the state government, not a representative of the federal bureaucracy.

Continue reading here to see the exchange between Carey and local elected government officials in Oakland County.

Now you should call Carey out on his assertion that the State Refugee Coordinators are the ones to call to get invited to the quarterly consultations.

Here is the list of State Refugee Coordinators.  Get on the phone today and tell yours that you are a stakeholder (a taxpayer footing the bill) and you want to be notified of the next quarterly meeting near where you live. There will likely be one in September.
If you get snubbed, or get no response….
Then take the next step and call or write to your elected officials in Washington (your Member of Congress and US Senators) and complain and tell them you want the budget cut for refugee resettlement for FY2017 as well! Nothing short of cutting off the taxpayer spigot will stop the invasion and the Republicans in Congress control the flow of money!
Our complete Michigan archive is here.  And, don’t miss Leahy this week as well about how Michigan health officials are hiding information on the health status of refugees resettled to the state.

Visit Secure Michigan!  This is a model for what you should be doing where you live—publish a state blog on the refugee program.  It does no good if you do all sorts of research and then not share the information you find with a growing number of concerned citizens in your state!

Clinton: Let's rebuild Detroit with Syrian refugees!

Consider this Part II of my previous post because here we learn that Hamdi Ulukaya (Chobani Yogurt empire) was busy earlier this year talking with Bill Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative about the joys of hiring (Muslims in the case of the Syrians) over American workers.
This idea of rebuilding Detroit with thousands of Syrians isn’t new, remember the Republican governor of Michigan was spouting that same idea here in May of last year.  The Clinton Global Initiative video is from February of this year, so I wonder if Clinton stole the cockamamie idea from Snyder? (I guess I will have to watch the thing!).

Here is what Julia Hahn says at Breitbart:

In a previously little-noticed video from February at the Clinton Global Initiative, former President Bill Clinton suggested that the U.S. use Syrian refugees to rebuild Detroit.

“The truth is that the big loser in this over the long run is going to be Syria. This is an enormous opportunity for Americans,” Bill Clinton said about the Syrian migrant crisis.

It is unclear from the video why Clinton seems to think it would be better to fill these Detroit jobs with imported foreign migrants rather than unemployed Americans already living there, who could perhaps benefit from good-paying jobs.

In the video, Clinton discusses the migrant crisis with billionaire and mass migration enthusiast Hamdi Ulukaya of the Chobani yogurt empire.

Ulukaya has become a figure of controversy for his decision to fill his yogurt plants with foreign refugees rather than unemployed Americans. At the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year, Ulukaya encouraged other global elites to follow his lead.

The unearthed video seems to underscore Donald Trump’s recent declaration that, “Hillary Clinton would rather provide a job to a refugee from overseas than to give that job to unemployed African-American youth in cities like Detroit who have become refugees in their own country.”

BTW, expect to see more of Mr. Chobani (with other corporate big wigs) and the Clintons at Obama’s big UN refugee shindig on September 20th!

Which resettlement contractors are screwing up in Michigan?

Have a look at this article from Arab American News from last week.

Welcome_To_Dearborn
Not enough housing in Dearborn where all the refugees want to live to be with their own kind of people reports the Arab American News.

It starts out with the usual heartwarming stories about refugees finding new lives in Michigan (the state getting the most Syrian Muslims) but then read down 11 paragraphs where we hear about the trouble the new arrivals are having after basically being left in the lurch by resettlement contractors and in one case NO agency is helping them.
Readers this is very common, we’ve heard it repeatedly over the years and instead of taking fewer refugees that could be taken care of properly, the federal contractors are overloaded (there are never enough volunteers backing up the paid staff!) and the refugees complain.  And, you can’t blame them, they have been sold a bill of goods about life in America and their expectations are very high.
Get this….how is it that a whole family is basically wandering around loose in Michigan with no one responsible for them but another refugee.

The Kabati family now enjoys a new, seemingly peaceful life, but anticipated the challenges that lay ahead as soon as they arrived at the airport.

Kabati said while other refugees were greeted at the airport by representatives of refugee aid groups and taken to their homes, they were greeted by a friend, who offered to provide any further assistance the family needed. Kabati added because they had no family in Michigan, the IOM inadvertently held his friend, also a recent Syrian immigrant, fully responsible for their aid.

The family friend gave them shelter for two days, until he secured them an apartment.

As of Saturday, Kabati and his family have not received paperwork and needed assistance to initiate their resettlement, like Social Security numbers, insurance and food stamps.

Kabati said he and his family are eager to start learning English, so they are able to get around and communicate with others. A tough language barrier prevents them from integrating into American society.

So far, no aid group has offered to place them in ESL courses, unlike the cases with other refugees.

Yikes! How many other Syrians have simply been flown in to a city and dropped?  You might not have a lot of sympathy for them, but you should. The refugees are just pawns. Again, we see evidence that this program is being run with incompetent leadership and is not about caring for the the world’s downtrodden as its first priority.
This is an example of gross incompetence on the part of the US State Department and some contractor which dropped the ball in Michigan!
Why? Because instead of slowing the flow to a level that could be accommodated and assimilated, the UN and the US State Department are sending them into communities at unsustainable levels hurting both the refugees and the citizens of the town or city unlucky enough to be a target site.
Continue reading the story for the litany of other complaints the new Michigan Americans have.
The primary contractors operating in the state are the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LSS Michigan), the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and get this, in Dearborn, it is USCRI—the same agency that isn’t doing a very good job in Lowell, Mass.

Obama more than halfway to goal of 10,000 Syrian Muslims brought to US this year, Michigan tops the list

Obama announced last fall that in FY2016, the US would “welcome” 10,000 Syrian ‘refugees’ to states across America. As of June 30th (9 months into the fiscal year) 5,186 have been distributed so far.

Snyder and obama
In May of 2014 we reported that Michigan Governor Rick Snyder wanted to invite 50,000 refugees to the state. Guess he is on his way to getting them. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2015/05/18/lets-not-bring-50000-syrians-to-detroit-it-is-a-dumb-idea/

Lots of news outlets are reporting the numbers, here is just one story from Breitbart yesterday (confirming what we have previously reported that 99% of them are Muslims):

The United States’ federal government has imported a record number of Syrian refugees in June – more than 2,300 – of whom 99 percent are Sunni Muslim and just eight identify as Christian.

The record number admitted to the country last month brings the total number of Syrian refugees accepted during the fiscal year above the 5,000 mark and puts the government on a trajectory to surpass President Barack Obama’s stated goal of 10,000 refugees by the end of September, reports the Washington Times.

[….]

“This is social engineering, not humanitarian relief,” writes Robert Spencer at JihadWatch.com. “Syria was 10% Christian before the war. The Christians have been targeted and persecuted by several jihad groups. The refugees, then, should be at least 10% Christian and probably more than that.”

More here.
Using the US State Department’s own data base, here are the top ten states where Syrians are being placed (in parenthesis is the number for just these last nine months):

Michigan (570)

California (497)

Arizona (388)

Illinois (343)

Pennsylvania (340)

Texas (324)

Florida (301)

North Carolina (279)

New York (264)

Ohio (209)

In addition to cities in the top ten states, the following cities are now building seed communities of Syrian Muslims:
