Redlands, CA: Citizens tell mayor—no Syrian or African refugees for us!

One of the most difficult hurdles we have to overcome is the sheer ignorance of local elected officials about how the Refugee Admissions Program of the UN/US State Department operates.  Here we have a mayor of a California city saying he has no say about refugees being “sponsored” by a Catholic parish.
Mr. Mayor, they are not “sponsored” by the parish.  The local Catholic Charities is PAID by the US State Department to resettle refugees chosen in Washington (by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the US State Dept) for Redlands.  The least you could do is hold a public forum so that you and the community understand exactly what will be expected of you if some of the large number of Syrian Muslims Obama is admitting to the US will be distributed there.

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops is asking Obama for 100,000 Syrians for this fiscal year. They will be looking at every town in America for future placements.

Foster_Paul
Redlands Mayor Paul Foster still think Catholic Charities “sponsors” refugees! Stuck in the Vietnam era, he apparently doesn’t know they are paid by the US State Department (by the head) to resettle refugees.

It only makes sense that Catholic Charities (USCCB) around the country are gearing up to expand their resettlement operations and I urge all of you to start paying attention.
Go here and see exactly which cities have Catholic Charities operating on behalf of the federal government. Redlands is near Los Angeles and you will find this branch of Catholic Charities listed in San Bernardino.
If you suspect a resettlement contractor, like Catholic Charities, is ramping-up where you live, let us know!

Pocket of resistance?

From Redlands Daily Facts:

REDLANDS >> Some members of Redlands Townhall and the Redlands Tea Party Patriots have called on city officials to keep Syrian and African refugees from resettling here.

They asked City Council members Tuesday what their plan will be if the city is asked to resettle some of the 85,000 refugees expected to come to the United States in 2016.

“We are researching the issue and preparing to provide information to the City Council in the near future,” said city spokesman Carl Baker in an email.

Citizens asking questions!  This is what everyone should be doing right now (even before there is a mention of impoverished third worlders being brought to town).

“Where will they be housed? How will their expenses be paid and by whom? And what will be done to ensure the safety of our community? Our biggest concern is the safety of our family, our children and our grandchildren,” Victoria Hargrave of Redlands Townhall said the council on Tuesday.

“The Obama administration would like to bring in 85,000 Syrian refugees into our country in the calendar year that just started on Oct. 1 and they have admitted that they have no database or source of information with which to vet these refugees,” she said. “There are primarily Sunni Muslims. Al-Qaida are Sunni Muslims whose culture and ideology are completely contrary to our Constitution.”

Intelligence officials and Republican lawmakers have expressed concerns that Islamic State militants could seek to slip into Europe or the U.S. posing as migrants.

[….]

Myhanh Luu, refugee resettlement service director for Catholic Charities San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, which has assisted refugees from all over the world, said they have not yet heard about the Syrian and African refugees needing resettlement in the Inland Empire.

[….]

Mayor Paul Foster said he directed City Manager N. Enrique Martinez to look into the issue. But, he said, it is not the city’s business to tell a parish not to sponsor refugees.

“They certainly would have the right, as they did years ago when we had Laotian and Vietnamese refugees and Cambodian refugees,” Foster said. “Groups all over the country brought refugees in, primarily through faith-based organizations and churches themselves and sponsored them and helped them reestablish their lives in our country.  [The mayor is 35 years behind the times! That is not how refugees are distributed today!—ed]

“I certainly don’t see that as being something local municipal governments should be out there opposing or fighting in any way or telling them what they should be doing.”

Citizens need to disabuse this mayor and others like him of this notion—it is most definitely his job to protect his community from economic, cultural and security stress!  I’m sure the federal government would be happy to run his town!

Syrians to be distributed across America

Update from the editor:  There are stories popping up all over the internet from various parts of the country where Syrians are already being resettled or about to be.  I can’t post them all, so keep an eye on my twitter feed in right hand column and see those stories.
I’m so excited to report that so many other writers, researchers, bloggers, and just plain concerned citizens are working on unearthing the facts on how the federal Refugee Admissions Program works and getting that information to you.   Maybe I can retire soon!
Here Tyler Durden at Zerohedge (hat tip: Christina) has a handy post for you with the newest map on where the resettlement contractors offices are located and you don’t even have to follow a link to access their contact information, he has it all in one post!
Remember though, as you look at the list, that the contractors can spread the refugees out in a one hundred mile radius of their office, and that refugees move from where they were placed, often within a few months.   You might think your town is getting 50-100, but within a few years you have 1,000 as ethnic people move and coalesce (called secondary migration) around others of their kind in certain neighborhoods and towns.
Here is the newest map (go here for enlargement):

Be sure to visit Zerohedge for the all-important list of offices.  Call them, and ask, are they going to bring Syrian (mostly Muslim) refugees to your town?

Pockets of Resistance are forming!

I don’t have an up-to-date list of where they are all located, but, if you would like to be linked with others in your area resisting resettlement of third worlders to your community, go here and sign up (Center for Security Policy) to be included in the new network.
To demand local approval of refugee resettlement, sign the petition!

Sign the petition! Demand local approval for refugee resettlement

It has been just over 24 hours since we told you about the petition, here, to demand transparency from the federal government and a local role in decision-making involving the “seeding” of refugees to towns large and small across America.
I am happy to report that as of this minute there are already 695 who have signed the petition and a quick look at the interactive map reveals that it looks like most US states are represented, plus we have 4 who have signed it elsewhere in the world—2 in Europe and one each in Australia and South Africa.  So, for our readers abroad, please consider signing the petition as well!
(If you click on the little circles the map expands to allow you to see how many from each state have signed already.)
Go here to see who has signed (you can remain anonymous if that makes you more comfortable), but please consider signing.
The federal refugee contractors are getting worried!  How do I know, come back later! I am out of time right now to post more.  ***Update*** HIAS goes on the attack!

Asst. Secretary of State Anne Richard will answer questions about refugees in Spartanburg, SC this coming week….

….but, only to small selected groups!  And, she will meet separately with each one according to the latest from Go Upstate.

Update August 24th:  For more information on what is happening, contact Dr. Christina Jeffrey. christininakfjeffrey@gmail.com

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Affairs Anne Richard arrives for a press conference at a hotel in Putrajaya, Malaysia Monday, June 1, 2015. Richard said resettlement in a third country is not the answer to the swelling tide of boat people in Southeast Asia and called for Myanmar citizenship to be given to Rohingya Muslims fleeing persecution there. (AP Photo/Joshua Paul)
Anne C. Richard was formerly a vice president (for advocacy) at one of the nine federal resettlement contractors—the International Rescue Committee now headed up by Brit David Miliband. http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/biog/188212.htm

A trip by the Asst. Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration frankly signals that the State Department is going to fight for each prospective town or city (or state!) that they want to be relocation sites for refugees in the coming year.  And, frankly, they are running out of ‘welcoming’ places so they need to suppress any resistance where they find it now.
For new readers, be sure to visit our first post on Spartanburg where we have updated readers as often as we could about how the resistance was developing there.
Pay particular attention to this idea apparently from the State Department to have separate meetings with those for and against the plan.  I’m surprised that Rep. Trey Gowdy’s office fell for this technique which leaves Ms. Richard in the position of spinning what each of the ‘stakeholders’ and taxpayers (not considered stakeholders) groups concerns might be.
From GoUpstate.com:

Assistant Secretary of State Anne Richard will visit Spartanburg next week to address concerns surrounding a plan already underway to resettle refugees in the area.

Richard, in coordination with U.S. Congressman Trey Gowdy’s office, plans to meet with local government leaders, community groups, concerned constituents and others.

Richard also will meet with World Relief, a faith-based organization that is leading efforts to assimilate refugees in Spartanburg as part of the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program. She plans to hold individual meetings Monday and Tuesday at the Mary Black Foundation on East Main Street in Spartanburg to discuss refugee resettlement and the admissions program, said Danna Van Brandt, a spokeswoman for the State Department.

Van Brandt said Richard opted to meet face to face with select groups at scheduled times to better answer in-depth questions.

I say, why not let everyone in Spartanburg who has an interest in this issue hear what each side has to say (and what elected officials have to say)!

Quick note on Wyoming!

It looks like they are going to fight to get a refugee program open in Wyoming or why else is a piece like this running at Wyoming Public Radio?
As I said they need every town, city or state they can get as they are running out of places for the tens of thousands of refugees being brought in each year.  I expect next year to be huge because they will surely expand the program for the Syrians the UN is pushing on America (and Europe).
One last note: South Carolina has only taken a small number of refugees in comparison to its surrounding states—North Carolina, Georgia and Kentucky.  Wyoming has taken none and the State Department and its contractors need to break open these states!

Idaho: Why might Senator Crapo have sounded so squishy at recent town hall meetings?

We told you here the other day that Idaho Senator Mike Crapo was confronted at several August recess town hall meetings with a barrage of questions relating to the resettlement of third world refugees to Idaho.

senator-mike-crapo-arrested-for-drunk-driving-1-10579-1356313830-2_big
We have no idea what sort of Senator Republican Mike Crapo has been for Idaho, or whether he would listen to constituents, but his cagey answers on refugee resettlement in Idaho suggest he might have more important factors influencing him than some very vocal voters.

He struck me as pretty squishy in his responses.
One of the primary things citizens in refugee resettlement target zones need to look into is how much (especially Republican) elected officials are getting from big business (or Chamber of Commerce) donors who have an interest in the importation of cheap labor.
Seems the folks in Idaho did a little digging on Crapo.

Remember we told you that a big meat packing plant is planned for a small town near Boise, here.

Well, what do you know! it seems that one of Senator Crapo’s largest donors in recent years is one of the ‘agribusiness’ companies involved!

We have been chronicling for years the role BIG MEAT is playing in changing (colonizing) small town America—from Nebraska, to Kansas, to Iowa, to Colorado just to name a few states getting slammed.  LOL! from a meatpacker’s point of view, this is a great business model. They pay cheap wages for what amounts to slave labor and you, the taxpayer, subsidize the immigrant family with welfare payments (for food, housing, schooling and healthcare).
First, I know it is long, but I want you to see a January press release from the J.R. Simplot Company.  (Hat tip: a concerned citizen of Idaho)

J.R. Simplot Company and Caviness Beef Packers to Build New Idaho Beef Processing Plant

Published on January 07 2015

Amarillo,* Texas-based Caviness Beef Packers has formed a joint-venture with the J.R. Simplot Company to build a new Idaho beef processing plant near Kuna, Idaho.

Pending approval of permits from all necessary regulatory agencies, construction of the nearly 300,000 square foot plant would begin in spring 2015 with an expected fall 2016 opening.

The new joint-venture will operate under the name, CS Beef Packers, LLC. The joint venture is expected to invest $100 million to complete construction of the plant.

The plant is expected to process a maximum of 1,700 head per day, and could create up to 600 new jobs.**

The primary purpose of the plant will be to harvest cull cows and bulls from Northwest dairy farms and cattle ranches throughout the Intermountain West. The plant will also include hide and rendering processing and have the ability to process niche-fed beef programs.

Scott Simplot, J.R. Simplot Company chairman, said the new plant will be the first significant processing operation in the region, reducing the need for dairy farmers and ranchers to ship cattle out of the area for processing.

It’s estimated that there are more than 600,000 dairy cows and more than 600,000 beef cows in the region.

“This effort complements the area’s dairy industry including milk, cheese and yogurt processors,***” Simplot said. “Our company has farmed and ranched in the area for nearly a century and we’re excited to be a part of this joint-venture that will further guarantee the long-term success of the region’s dairy and beef industries.”

Caviness CEO Terry Caviness said Simplot and Caviness are both family-owned companies that complement each other. “Together we will bring significant strengths and expertise to this project,” Caviness said. “We look forward to being a valued partner to area ranchers and dairymen as we expand our footprint in the United States with another world-class beef packing facility.”

Demand for beef is at an all-time high. The new plant will take advantage of advances in food safety and process technologies to create a processing facility that incorporates the best available technologies to effectively process beef safely and humanely. The final product will be prepackaged boxed beef that will primarily be marketed toward food-service suppliers and retail outlets.

“We are excited to bring a new advanced plant to the area. This plant is ideally suited to meet the increasing demand for processing from the dairy and beef cow industry,” said Tom Basabe, president of Simplot Land and Livestock. “Caviness Beef has a long-history in beef processing. Caviness is the perfect partner to join Simplot in this joint venture.”

*Amarillo!  We have written about Amarillo for years, the city is completely swamped with refugees (to work at meatpacking plants there) and the mayor has been begging for relief!  See how messed up Amarillo is with refugees by clicking here.
** 600 jobs for whom?
***yogurt processors!  Are we talking about the huge Chobani (Turkish CEO) plant that recently opened near Twin Falls that is likely also using cheap refugee laborers?

Follow the money!

So this is the clincher!
The number two contributor (of the top five) to Senator Mike Crapo’s campaign committee from 2009-2014 is, guess who:  JR Simplot Co.
See here at Open Secrets.

Is that why Crapo was so cagey and reportedly indicated support for the refugee resettlement program for Idaho.

Crapo told the Times-News in July that he understands the need for a refugee program.

Whose need?

Now look at this!

The Idaho POR (Pocket of Resistance) is doing great work!  Here is some serious digging reported by Vicky Davis at The Voice of Idaho. This is really really good stuff!
