First two months of FY2017, Somali 'refugees' entering US at highest rate ever!

rpcLogoSmall [Converted]I mentioned this fact a few days ago here when I analyzed the first 6 weeks of FY17 (it began on October 1, 2016), but now the data is in for the first two full months.
You can’t make this up!
In light of the many Somalis who have been arrested and convicted on terrorism charges (here is the most recent case) and in light of two highly publicized cases of Somali youths we cared for on our taxpayer dime attempting to kill Americans since September in St. Cloud, MN and in Columbus, OH, we are admitting the highest weekly average of Somalis to the US that we have ever done in the last 30 years!
Using the data available to the public at Wrapsnet.org (Refugee Processing Center), we searched for the number of Somalis (virtually all Somalis are Muslims) admitted between October 1, 2016 and December 1, 2016 and this is what we found:
2,598 were admitted in the last two months. (More Somalis than Syrians, here).
And check out the top ten states which ‘welcomed’ them. (40 states got some number of Somalis, but large numbers will head to Minnesota and Ohio as soon as their initial resettlement funds run out.)
Top Ten states for Somali resettlement in the first two months of this fiscal year:

Minnesota (334)

New York (283)

Kentucky (169) It is new for KY to be anywhere near the top for resettlement, where are you Rand Paul?

Ohio (158)

Arizona (146)

Missouri (136)

Texas (133)

Washington (113)

Colorado (97)

Pennsylvania (89)

You might think the Obama Administration is working overtime to get this many in here before you know what!
By the way, I heard some mainstream news commentator say the other day that Washington, DC was third behind Minnesota and Ohio for Somali population.  It just isn’t so, there may be some in the DC area, but DC gets almost no refugees.
Note to the Donald Trump transition team: You can’t solve the problem if you only restrict entry to some Middle Eastern countries!  Although we pick up most of the Somalis from camps in Africa, we are admitting Somalis who have “made their way” to far flung corners of the world, including to Europe!

What are the major Muslim ethnic groups entering the US right now through the RAP?

rpcLogoSmall [Converted]Can Trump stop the flow this coming year, maybe, maybe not!

I was doing research at Wrapsnet (Refugee Processing Center) recently for another purpose and did a search on the major Muslim ethnic groups entering the US from Oct. 1, 2016 to Nov. 15, 2016 (approximately the first 6 weeks of FY2017).
The numbers below are only for Muslims in the top ten sending countries (all Muslim sects) that entered in that time frame (about 6 weeks) and only those who entered the US through the Refugee Admissions Program (RAP):

Somalia: 1,894

Syria: 1,867

Iraq: 1,388

Afghanistan: 298

Burma: 289

Sudan: 147

DR Congo: 141

Ethiopia: 118

Eritrea: 58

Iran: 56

This is the highest number of Somalis we have brought in since we began taking Somalis 30 years ago.

At this rate (315 weekly) we could have over 16,000 placed in a large number of states by September 30th. Go here to see my summary of how many Somalis we resettled through the RAP since the early 1980’s.  The highest previous year (2004) was 12,814 during the Bush Administration.

President-elect Trump needs to know that the Obama Admin. is pouring refugees in to the US at an unheard of rate in the first weeks of the fiscal year. Congress must cut their funding now to help Trump in January. Appropriating the extra billion or so the Administration says they need through March could tie Trump’s hands!

It is also 1,000 more in the first six weeks this year than it was last year at this time! Holy cow!  See here.
I maintain that the Somalis and many other Muslim ethnic groups cannot be screened any better than Syrians, especially the Somalis and the Burmese!
By the way, most of the Iranians we bring in are Christians or other religious minorities, but clearly we are bringing in Muslim Iranians. Why?

These numbers indicate that the feds and their contractors are pouring refugees in at an unsustainable rate!

We have admitted 14,568 total refugees of all persuasions in those approximately first 6 weeks.  That is a rate of about 2,428 a week. And at this rate we would admit 126,256 by September 30th when Obama’s wish for the year was (only, LOL!) 110,000.  (During Obama’s 8 years he admitted an average of about 70,000 a year, here.)

Just as we predicted, they are front-loading refugee admissions in advance of Trump’s Inauguration in January.
It is imperative that Congress NOT give the Office of Refugee Resettlement (HHS) the over $1 BILLION extra in funding it wants right now. (See ‘Running out of money’)  The Obama Administration encouraged the ‘kids’ (with its policies) to come to the US and, if the budget must be re-prioritized for them, so be it. That means only one thing: cutting the resettled refugee numbers.

Australian press thinks its unlikely US will take rejected 'refugees' off their hands

Mr Trump! Forget Syrians for a minute! Are we going to suspend resettlement of all ‘high-risk aliens?’

Here is a story from Sky News Australia which links Trump advisor Kris Kobach’s proposals to Trump last weekend in NJ as evidence that the deal might well be dead on arrival.  See my earlier post this morning about a letter from two powerful members of Congress who want the fishy Australia deal stopped now!

Trump
Trump meets with Kris Kobach. Leftwing media has been having fun with the enlargement of the memo in Kobach’s hand.

Sky News titters about photo that reveals some of Kobach’s suggestions to the Trump team on immigration:

An apparent bungle by US president-elect Donald Trump’s hardline immigration adviser shows just how difficult Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s US refugee re-settlement plan will likely be to pull off.

Kris Kobach, tipped to head the US Department of Homeland Security in the Trump administration, was clutching documents as he stood with a smiling and waving Mr Trump on Sunday in view of the media.

A photo taken by Associated Press, when zoomed in, shows the top page of the document is headlined ‘Department of Homeland Security. Kobach Strategic Plan for First 365 Days’.

It lists aggressive proposals aimed at ‘high-risk aliens.’

‘Reduce intake of Syrian refugees to zero, using authority under the 1980 Refugee Act,’ Mr Kobach’s plan states.

The plan also calls for ‘extreme vetting questions for high-risk aliens: question them regarding support for Sharia Law, jihad, equality of men and women, the United States Constitution’.

Mr Kobach was one of many potential Trump administration hires who met with the president-elect at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey on the weekend.

More here at Sky News.

Readers, I am starting to get nervous about whether Trump’s closest advisors on immigration fully understand the US Refugee Admissions Program.
In my previous post I said that if Trump picks Romney in combination with Nikki Haley at the UN (where the UN has plans for who comes to your towns!), we shouldn’t expect any major shakeup of the RAP.

Let’s talk about HIGH-RISK ALIENS!

There has been enormous national attention on the fact that FBI Director Comey testified to Congress that Syrians cannot be vetted because they come from a failed state where records are not obtainable. And, it is understandable that the focus has been on the Syrians, but…..
….if you are a longtime reader of RRW you know this is also true for the vast majority of Somalis (tens of thousands) we have admitted over the last two-three decades.  In fact, in 2008 the State Department (DOS) cut off family reunification for Somalis because they discovered wide spread fraud—-Somalis lied about their family connections!  Family reunification was closed for years (all documented here at RRW). See the most recent news on Somalis who thumbed their noses at your generosity.
The DOS and DHS say they can vet the Iraqis.  But, they screwed up big time a few years ago and Iraqi refugee Al-Qaeda supporters were arrested and convicted on terror charges in Kentucky.  One of them actually had fingerprints on an IED shard in US government hands and no one ever made the connection. That IED killed American service men. These two had lied on their refugee application.

And, how are we possibly screening the Rohingya Muslims who have fled Burma, many on boats that ended up in Malaysia and Indonesia. We are taking thousands of them!  They don’t have ‘papers’ from the government of Burma (a Buddhist government that is all too happy to get rid of them)!
Other countries that produce unvettable (new word!) Muslims are Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Sudan and Uzbekistan. Just those few countries mentioned above account for probably half of the flow to the US right now!
So, Mr. Trump and Mr. Kobach! Stop focusing on only Syrians! The problem is much much bigger!

Minnesota resettlement contractors not increasing their refugee intake in FY2017

Schwartz, the Humphrey School dean, said the 110,000 national number for the year is a ceiling, not a legal obligation binding the new government.

Actually I don’t think they will have to worry about taking their share of the huge number Obama proposed for FY2017—110,000—because Trump will surely reduce that number one way or another.
For our readers in Minnesota this is a very useful article with lots of details about the contractors and the cities in which they are placing refugees.  Seems one big limiting factor is affordable housing!  I sure hope one of the Trump Admins first actions will be to kill Obama’s Affirmatively Furthering FAIR Housing initiative!
Here is the latest from Minnesota at the Star Tribune (emphasis is mine):

Minnesota, one of the nation’s busiest resettlement destinations, is aiming to keep its refugee arrivals steady in 2017.

Eric Schwartz was Obama’s first Asst. Sec. of State for PRM and thus Anne Richard’s predecessor. Both of them were Soros’ proteges. Go here for our file on Schwartz: https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/?s=Eric+Schwartz

Faced with a housing shortage and other constraints, the state is forgoing a larger role in an almost 30 percent national increase the Obama administration announced earlier this fall.

Now, that Obama goal and the nation’s longer-term approach are in question as a Donald Trump administration prepares to take over. On the campaign trail, Trump pledged to pause resettlement from “terror-prone regions” and took aim at Somali refugees in Minnesota. But he has not addressed the overall number of refugees the country resettles each year.

“There is complete and total uncertainty,” said Eric Schwartz, dean of the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs and a former federal official who oversaw refugee admissions in the Obama administration.

In the fiscal year that ended in September, Minnesota took in 2,630 refugees, a 15 percent increase over previous year.

[….]

Kristina Hammell of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Winona says her agency is running into housing shortages in the Rochester area as well.

“If we can’t find affordable housing, we aren’t doing refugees any great favors,” she said.

See my recent post: Obama’s 110,000 is a CEILING and Trump can turn off the spigot on January 21, 2017. He can PAUSE THE WHOLE PROGRAM!

Schwartz, the Humphrey School dean, said the 110,000 national number for the year is a ceiling, not a legal obligation binding the new government. Although Trump has criticized resettlement from countries including Syria and Somalia, he has not discussed the United States’ role in addressing the global migrant crisis.

Presumably, the administration could block resettlement from some regions and shift admissions to others, but that would be a significant logistical challenge, Schwartz said.

This last is wishful thinking I believe.  Since the contractors are paid by the head and their salaries, office rent etc. depend on your tax dollars, I think they are hoping if Trump suspends resettlement from say Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and so forth that he will make it up with numbers from non-Muslim countries.  I doubt it.

It is best to pause the whole program on January 21st and then “find out what is going on!” (As Trump frequently intoned on the campaign trail!)

In Minnesota, Trump talks trade and Somalis

As I watched the news the first thing this morning, what trend jumped out at me—in those states that are must-wins for Trump like North Carolina, Florida, Nevada, Michigan and even New Hampshire, what is the common thread?  They are states where the immigrant population is expanding greatly with refugee resettlement as one factor.  Immigrants generally vote for Democrats because they fear their social services (aka welfare) will be reduced under a Republican president.
Muslim immigrants vote mostly for Democrats because they know the Dems will permit the Hijra (the migration) to continue unimpeded.

20,000 greet Trump in Minneapolis yesterday. See Conservative Treehouse for the story and more photos: https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/11/06/donald-trump-rally-minneapolis-minnesota-300pm-live-stream/

Trump had the guts to raise the Somali problem in Minnesota yesterday.

Remember Democrat Governor Dayton famously told an audience in St. Cloud last year, an audience of native Minnesotans, if you don’t like our (Somali) immigrants move to another state.
Trump is appealing to Minnesotans to help save their state by voting for him.
Here is news from the Daily Caller on Trump’s Minnesota stop yesterday (I think he might be going back again today, or is it Mike Pence returning to MN?):

Donald Trump told Minnesotans at a rally Sunday that this is “our last chance,” as he described a state hit hard by trade deals and refugee resettlement.

Minnesota is a historically Democrat state, and Clinton has had a solid lead in the most recent polls of the state. Trump, however, said at his rally at an airport hanger that he feels “good about Minnesota.”

Two main focuses of his platform — stopping refugees from coming into the U.S. and renegotiating trade deals — could find a receptive audience in the midwestern state.

[….]

“Oh Minnesota, Oh Minnesota, you know what’s going on, you know what I’m talking about. Be politically correct, just nod, just quietly nod,” Trump said.

“Hillary wants a 550 percent increase of Syrian refugees pouring into our country, and she wants virtually unlimited immigration and refugee admission from the most dangerous regions of the world to come into our country and to come into Minnesota and you know it better than anyone.”

There was recently a stabbing attack by a Somali ISIS sympathizer in St.Cloud, Minnesota, and there have been several ISIS-related arrests of Somalis in Minneapolis. Minneapolis is home to the nation’s largest Somali population, about 30,000. [Official number perhaps, but the population in the whole state is much higher—ed]

“If you want people to just pour into Minnesota, just vote for Hillary Clinton,” Trump said.

If you want people to just pour into America, just vote for Hillary Clinton!
