Letter to media: “discredited” SPLC should be ignored

I signed an open letter to the media on Wednesday critical of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate group” listing.

Here is the story about that letter at WND:

They are among the rudders of America’s conservative movement.

rush-limbaugh-two-fingers-600
Limbaugh: “… all you have to do is disagree with them and you are called a hater.”

Names such as L. Brent Bozell III of the Media Research Center, Edwin Meese III of the Heritage Foundation, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) William Boykin of the Family Research Council, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel and Michael Farris of Alliance Defending Freedom.

They are the ones media seek out for comment on important issues of the day.

Now they collectively are sending a message to establishment media: Stop using the “hit pieces” from the Southern Poverty Law Center in your reporting.

Forty-seven individuals and groups in a coalition Wednesday released an open letter to news outlets, calling on them to stop using data from the “discredited Southern Poverty Law Center.”

[….]

Just days ago, talk radio superstar Rush Limbaugh criticized SPLC as “perhaps one of the biggest hate groups on the left.”

“They tar and feather and slander right-wing groups and call them hate groups,” he said. “They’ve got a map on their website, and whenever a right-wing group that says or does anything that the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is a bunch of leftist freaks, all you have to do is disagree with them and you are called a hater.”

No group here!

oreo 2
Looking for a hate “group” at RRW? Up until recently, Oreo is all you would find for group members!  However, we recently added a dog and that has created a whole new hate situation here at RRW. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2017/02/17/splc-announces-new-list-of-hate-groups-did-you-make-the-list/

Of course the SPLC has me listed as a hate “group,” but to show how shoddy and unprofessional their work is, I have no group.  I’m an independent blogger writing factual reports (with my opinions!) on the US Refugee Admissions Program and have been doing so for the last ten years.

What apparently got me in the crosshairs of the SPLC (besides being effective!) is this report (Resettlement at Risk) written by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (a federal refugee contractor) with the help of a large grant from the J.M. Kaplan Fund.

The report recommends that any local citizens questioning the federal placement of refugees in their towns and cities should be investigated. (You see we have no right to question what the federal government does or how it spends our money, or expect to be labeled “haters.”)

Conduct Research on Local Anti-Refugee Leaders:

The national refugee agencies should partner with groups such as Center for New Community and Southern Poverty Law Center to learn more about individuals and groups leading local efforts to resist resettlement, to determine if they belong to
organized anti-immigrant or anti-Muslim organizations or networks.

Reader comment: What I learned about the SPLC over the years

Editor: From time to time, I publish/feature (as posts) comments from readers that would otherwise be lost in the daily din.

SPLC

This is from Deena Flinchum (see a previous comment here) who enlightens us on the Southern Poverty Law Center and how they have evolved over the last 4 decades. (Emphasis is mine)

Ann, I sent this to a reporter and thought you might find it interesting:

The social philosopher Eric Hoffer, author of The True Believer, once said: “Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket.” This has been my observation of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

In 1973, I received a fundraising letter from the SPLC signed by Julian Bond, an icon of the civil rights movement, asking me to become a retainer supporter, meaning I’d send a monthly payment to retain lawyers for African-Americans seeking to secure voting rights, access to schools and neighborhoods, etc. I readily agreed, sending in my monthly contribution for over 25 years. Never missed a single payment. I was gratified to see progress in a cause I believed in and to have a chance to be a part of it.

As time went by, I saw less and less civil rights work but the fundraising continued.

We were told that SPLC needed to put away a lot of reserves so that they could withstand loss of contributions, etc. In essence, SPLC had become a business, piling up retained earnings from contributions that they didn’t spend on the cause. I began to see more effort in hunting down ‘hate’ and less on suing entities on behalf of those whose civil rights were being violated. It costs a lot less to ship copies of Teaching Tolerance out to schools and libraries and to designate as ‘hate groups’ organizations that disagree with you on issues than it does to finance complex lawsuits. More money in the reserve fund!

The break for this old-line environmentalist came when SPLC entered its racket phase by declaring FAIR and CIS – two organizations that saw massive immigration as not a good thing for the US – to be ‘hate groups’. How can two very mainstream organizations, ones who shared the opinions of the Jordan Commission led by Congresswoman Barbara Jordan under President Bill Clinton, be classified in the same terms as the KKK and Nazis? Were Congresswoman Jordan and President Clinton ‘far-right haters’? Hardly. I stopped my support immediately and told SPLC why. I was left alone for years until after Trump’s election when, I guess, SPLC considered me fair game again. I’ve had about 4 letters since then wanting me to re-up. Hilarious!

No way. I look upon the SPLC the same as I do scammers who try to separate senior citizens from their savings by pretending to be good causes intent upon some good work or another if only the mark would come through with hard cold cash. Unfortunately too many still do.

I’m stunned that anybody in the media takes the SPLC seriously anymore after all of the exposure there has been about their dishonesty, discrimination in hiring, and simple greed. All they are doing with their ‘hate group’ designations is trying to shut down dissent or even discussion if it varies from their opinions. I firmly believe that a lack of discussion over the years because people were afraid of being smeared is what has led to a lot of the bitterness in the debate over immigration now.

Corporate/globalist giants donating millions to defeat small voices like mine!

Holy cow!  Look at this! Who knew we were making such headway in getting our messages out!

Fascinating isn’t it how times have changed and the Leftists and Wall Street are on the same side!

I told you here that the SPLC and ProPublica had teamed up to ‘out’ us, but look at this NBC story about the payola the SPLC and the ADL are getting from those giant global corporations.

And, folks, this is about one issue only (not hate speech! not Charlottesville!), but IMMIGRATION.

Immigration and its consequent demographic change is the biggest issue of our times (see Steyn).

Apple CEO Tim Cook trying to silence my speech. In this story he is helping the illegal migrants getting in to Europe. https://iwebguyblog.wordpress.com/2015/09/19/apple-pledges-more-aid-to-help-with-europes-migrant-crisis/

These globalists and big banks need the free flow of cheap migrant labor (and immigrant consumers) to be able to move freely across borders. (And the SPLC and ADL are actually aiding in supplying that slave labor!)

Thus they are silencing anyone explaining to the American public about why unfettered immigration is not good for America—economically and culturally.

This is about MONEY for the rich, straight up!

From NBC:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — JPMorgan Chase is fighting back against hate groups by donating $1 million to nonprofits that expose extremists.

The nation’s largest bank announced on Monday that it is giving $1 million to be split equally by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League.

The donations are part of an effort to address “deep divisions” in the U.S. following a violent white supremacist protest in Charlottesville, Virginia this month, the bank said.

Uber wealthy, like Fox’s James Murdoch, squashing voices they don’t like.

Last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook similarly announced plans to donate $1 million each to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League.

21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch, the son of Rupert Murdoch, also pledged $1 million to the ADL.

I know none of us have the money to fight back in a big way, but in your own small way, you can dump Apple, your JP Morgan bank acct/credit card and maybe it is time to give up Fox News (if you haven’t already).

P.S.  And, as we have said many times on these pages remember that both Tyson Foods and Chobani Yogurt are always on the lookout for more refugee laborers!

ProPublica (recipient of Soros $) works with CAIR and SPLC to silence speech

……including mine apparently.

(By the way, see my post yesterday about how twitter is messing with accounts like mine.)

Last week Leo Hohmann writing at World Net Daily wrote an article about ProPublica coordinating with the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Although frightening information in these dark days when free speech is under attack, I didn’t relate it to my decade-long research about the US Refugee Admissions Program.  Silly me!

First, here is what Hohmann said on Friday:

An investigative journalism center is passing off as fact a report by the Hamas-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations that hate crimes against American mosques jumped sharply in 2015 and continue to occur at historically high rates — about once every three days.

ProPublica is a New York City-based nonprofit journalism center partially funded by billionaire George Soros that shares data-driven investigative stories with newspapers of all sizes and local TV stations across the United States.

See list of more than 100 U.S. newspapers, websites and TV stations that “partner” with the Soros-backed ProPublica.

But ProPublica‘s newest project on hate crimes is raising eyebrows because of its reliance on a questionable source for its data. The report says more than 370 “hate incidents” directed at U.S. mosques and Islamic centers have been catalogued by CAIR since April 2013.

“Most of the incidents are threats to worshippers’ lives or acts of vandalism,” according to the report, which depends solely on CAIR for its list of anti-Muslim hate crimes.

CAIR, which ProPublica refers to as simply “a civil rights group,” has been tied to the extremist Muslim Brotherhood and the terrorist organization Hamas.

ProPublica has received funding from the Soros’s Open Society Foundations, the Knight Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Corp., Hewlett Foundation, Sandler Foundation and Atlantic Philanthropies.

ProPublica investigating me!

https://www.propublica.org/site/author/lauren_kirchner

Imagine my surprise to see this morning that a reporter from ProPublica had written to me on Friday and gave me a 5 p.m. deadline to answer their questions.

Here is the entire e-mail from reporter Lauren Kirchner.  I know money matters greatly to these Leftists, but do they really think that I’ve devoted 10 years to researching and writing about how the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program needs to be reformed FOR MONEY.

Whatever they were writing has apparently been published, but I have no clue what they finally reported.

If you see it let me know.

to me

Hello Ms. Corcoran,

I am a reporter at ProPublica, a nonprofit investigative newsroom in New York. I am contacting you to let you know that we are including your website in a list of sites that have been designated as hate or extremist by the American Defamation League or the Southern Poverty Law Center. We have identified all the tech platforms that are supporting websites on the ADL and SPLC lists.

We would like to ask you a few questions:

1) Do you disagree with the designation of your website as hate or extremist? Why?

2) We identified one tech company on your website, PayPal. Can you confirm that you receive funds from your relationship with those them? How would the loss of those funds affect your operations, and how would you be able to replace them?

3) Have you been shut down by other tech companies for being an alleged hate or extremist web site? Which companies?

4) Many people opposed to sites like yours are currently pressuring tech companies to cease their relationships with them – what is your view of this campaign? Why?

Our deadline is 5pm EST today.

Thank you,

Lauren Kirchner

Here is my response to Ms. Kirchner (LOL! I am so offended!):

Dear Lauren,

I am a one person blogger. I have no funding. I get a few bucks here and there from grateful readers that goes to my pay pal account.

I have been voicing my research findings and my opinions for ten years as a charitable gift of my personal time (note that there is no advertising on my blog).

The SPLC is despicable. They are such liars!

Again, I have no group! It is just me in my basement doing research.

I check my e-mail infrequently so just seeing your e-mail this morning.

Do whatever you want, it will only solidify public opinion against the SPLC and your publication for silencing speech you don’t like.

Yours truly,

Ann Corcoran

Alas, no retirement for me!

They truly don’t understand that there are Americans who are fighting for an important cause and whenever in the future I’m tempted to retire from my lucrative blogging work, I’ll remind myself of this and keep on going if it kills me!

More later, in the meantime, see me and my hate group here!

Daniel Greenfield once again (humorously) explains how the SPLC lies about 'groups'

We told you here the other day, that RRW is listed as a hate “group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center when the group is only me (and my cat).

screenshot-330
SPLC: Send us money, lots of it! We have fake news to spread and big salaries to pay!

Now we see that Daniel Greenfield (I wish I was able to tickle the funny bone as well as he does) tells us more about the “Islamophobic groups” SPLC says are on the rise.
Here at Frontpage:

Look out! It’s another fake Islamophobia crisis.

“Huge Growth in Anti-Muslim Hate Groups During 2016: SPLC Report,” wails NBC News. “Watchdog: Number of anti-Muslim hate groups tripled since 2015,” FOX News bleats. ABC News vomits up this word salad. “Trump cited in report finding increase in US hate groups for 2nd year in a row.”

The SPLC stands for the Southern Poverty Law Center: an organization with slightly less credibility than Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, and without the academic degree in greasepaint.

And you won’t believe the shameless way the SPLC faked its latest Islamophobia crisis.

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s latest “hate group” sightings claims that the “number of anti-Muslim hate groups increased almost three-fold in 2016.”

That’s a lot of folds.

Continue reading here to see how they inflate the number of “groups” they claim are anti-Muslim.  The vast majority of the “groups” are individual, or small clusters, of grassroots patriots who work for nothing, but are up against this bunch of fat cats!
I’ve never bothered to look until today to see what the salaries are of the ‘leaders’ of the SPLC and I am blown away!  Much of this money comes from Americans they have scared with their “Hate” lists!
Look at these screenshots from a recent Form 990! (Form 990s are the reporting forms that non-profit groups must file with the IRS)

Fat cats!

From their 2015 Form 990 (available on their own website) where they reported a total revenue of $58 million:

So, dear patriots! Know that you are up against powerful and rich liberals who have to keep cash flowing in by duping naive fellow Americans.

Trump is right about most of the media, because as Greenfield points out, ABC, NBC and even Fox News bleated out their fake news!

Our growing archive on the SPLC is here.
