Redlands, CA: Citizens tell mayor—no Syrian or African refugees for us!

One of the most difficult hurdles we have to overcome is the sheer ignorance of local elected officials about how the Refugee Admissions Program of the UN/US State Department operates. Here we have a mayor of a California city saying he has no say about refugees being “sponsored” by a Catholic parish.
Mr. Mayor, they are not “sponsored” by the parish. The local Catholic Charities is PAID by the US State Department to resettle refugees chosen in Washington (by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the US State Dept) for Redlands. The least you could do is hold a public forum so that you and the community understand exactly what will be expected of you if some of the large number of Syrian Muslims Obama is admitting to the US will be distributed there.

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops is asking Obama for 100,000 Syrians for this fiscal year. They will be looking at every town in America for future placements.

Foster_Paul — Redlands Mayor Paul Foster still think Catholic Charities “sponsors” refugees! Stuck in the Vietnam era, he apparently doesn’t know they are paid by the US State Department (by the head) to resettle refugees.

It only makes sense that Catholic Charities (USCCB) around the country are gearing up to expand their resettlement operations and I urge all of you to start paying attention.
Go here and see exactly which cities have Catholic Charities operating on behalf of the federal government. Redlands is near Los Angeles and you will find this branch of Catholic Charities listed in San Bernardino.

REDLANDS >> Some members of Redlands Townhall and the Redlands Tea Party Patriots have called on city officials to keep Syrian and African refugees from resettling here.

They asked City Council members Tuesday what their plan will be if the city is asked to resettle some of the 85,000 refugees expected to come to the United States in 2016.

“We are researching the issue and preparing to provide information to the City Council in the near future,” said city spokesman Carl Baker in an email.

Citizens asking questions! This is what everyone should be doing right now (even before there is a mention of impoverished third worlders being brought to town).

“Where will they be housed? How will their expenses be paid and by whom? And what will be done to ensure the safety of our community? Our biggest concern is the safety of our family, our children and our grandchildren,” Victoria Hargrave of Redlands Townhall said the council on Tuesday.

“The Obama administration would like to bring in 85,000 Syrian refugees into our country in the calendar year that just started on Oct. 1 and they have admitted that they have no database or source of information with which to vet these refugees,” she said. “There are primarily Sunni Muslims. Al-Qaida are Sunni Muslims whose culture and ideology are completely contrary to our Constitution.”

Intelligence officials and Republican lawmakers have expressed concerns that Islamic State militants could seek to slip into Europe or the U.S. posing as migrants.

Myhanh Luu, refugee resettlement service director for Catholic Charities San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, which has assisted refugees from all over the world, said they have not yet heard about the Syrian and African refugees needing resettlement in the Inland Empire.

Mayor Paul Foster said he directed City Manager N. Enrique Martinez to look into the issue. But, he said, it is not the city’s business to tell a parish not to sponsor refugees.

“They certainly would have the right, as they did years ago when we had Laotian and Vietnamese refugees and Cambodian refugees,” Foster said. “Groups all over the country brought refugees in, primarily through faith-based organizations and churches themselves and sponsored them and helped them reestablish their lives in our country. [The mayor is 35 years behind the times! That is not how refugees are distributed today!—ed]

“I certainly don’t see that as being something local municipal governments should be out there opposing or fighting in any way or telling them what they should be doing.”

Citizens need to disabuse this mayor and others like him of this notion—it is most definitely his job to protect his community from economic, cultural and security stress! I’m sure the federal government would be happy to run his town!

US Conference of Catholic Bishops want 100,000 Syrians admitted to US this year….

….invoke Pope Francis’s name in their appeal. Does the Pope have this huge number (100,000 mostly Muslim Syrians) in mind for America?

Archbishop Kurtz — Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Kentucky is the President of the USCCB and is advocating for 100,000 Syrian, mostly Muslim, refugees to be placed in your parishes!

We know that the Bishops are pushing for this outrageous number already, but many good Catholics may not. A Catholic reader directed my attention to the Bishops’ website, here.
Our reader, Mark, says he received an e-mail with a link to this site, which among other things, urges faithful Catholics to write a letter to Obama to try and persuade him to admit 100,000 Syrians PLUS another 100,000 refugees in one year.
The Bishops surely are not telling local priests and parishioners that they are raking in millions of dollars of cold hard cash from federal taxpayers for refugee resettlement activities. And, they aren’t telling them that they are NOT advocating to save the persecuted Christians of Syria through this program.

The political and humanitarian crisis in Syria is a serious concern for the Catholic Church and the bishops of the United States. In the past five years, at least four million Syrians have fled their country as a consequence of the civil war and the rise of ISIS. Most have fled to surrounding countries, especially Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey, and many others have moved on to Europe with the hope of finding a place of peace and safety. Pope Francis and the Catholic bishops have called on the U.S. government and the international community to provide support to both Syrian refugees fleeing violence and to countries that have been at the forefront of this humanitarian effort. These recommendations include:

*Providing 100,000 annual resettlement slots for the most vulnerable refugees fleeing the Syria conflict.

*Designating an additional 100,000 refugees to be resettled in the U.S. from other countries.

The USCCB needs to admit loud and clear to every Catholic in America how much money they get from the taxpayers for their “Migration Fund!”

See here, over $80 million in one recent year. This is NOT Christian charity!

And, one more thing, we are hearing rumors that various Catholic Charities are gearing up in parishes across the country to increase their refugee load to your town or city this year. More later….

The wailing has begun! Refugee contractors furious that Obama 'only' admitting 10,000 Syrians this coming year

This is how the game is played in Washington. For months the resettlement contractors*** and the Senate Jihad Caucus have been clamoring for 65,000 Syrians to be admitted to the US in the next fiscal year which begins in 2 and 1/2 weeks (October 1). For new readers that number would nearly double the present number of refugees (70,000) from all countries who have entered the US and joined our welfare rolls each year of the Obama Administration.

Then just a week or so ago the number they were demanding jumped to 100,000, so when Obama sent out the 10,000 Syrians trial balloon this week, it was easy to predict that the contractors, who are PAID BY THE HEAD to resettle refugees in over 190 towns and cities in the US went ballistic.
They will run in circles, scream and shout, and then watch for it! Obama will up the number (something he will surely be happy to do).
You need to counter this move!

WASHINGTON — Seventy-two House Democrats joined human rights groups on Friday in calling for the U.S. to admit 100,000 Syrian refugees next fiscal year, saying the White House’s proposal to take in 10,000 of them is far from enough.

The members said the U.S. should accept 200,000 refugees total in the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1, echoing a number put forward by groups that help with and advocate for resettlement. [Come on reporters could you for once say they are paid by the taxpayers for their ‘advocacy.’—ed]

The full number of refugees to be admitted next fiscal year needs to be set by the end of the month. So far, the administration has said total refugee admissions will be higher than 70,000 — the number set for this fiscal year — and that the number of Syrians to be admitted will go from the 1,500 target this year to 10,000.

Kevin Appleby USCCB — US Conference of Catholic Bishops lobbyist, Kevin Appleby, is “disappointed,” wanted 100,000!

“When we saw that we just said, ‘Uh, did he forget a zero in his announcement?’ Because the 10,000 figure certainly doesn’t even begin to seriously address the issue,” said Erol Kekic, executive director of the immigration and refugee program at Church World Service.

The groups calling for 200,000 refugee admissions next fiscal year received support Thursday from Reps. John Conyers (Mich.) and Zoe Lofgren (Calif.), the top Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee and its immigration subcommittee, respectively.

They can’t even find enough employment, housing and health care for the 70,000 they already bring, do they have a death wish for America?
The article goes on to quote Kevin Appleby, the lobbyist for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, as “surprised and disappointed.”

There must be hearings in the House and Senate Judiciary Committees!

I’ve been looking into Refugee law (more later) and as I read it, Congress must hold hearings in the next two weeks on the President’s “Determination Letter” which should be arriving on the Hill this week in order to fit the “consultation” deadline required in the law.

Don’t count on Congress to save us, but don’t remain silent!

Here are the Members of the House Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security. They will be “consulting” with the White House this month on the refugee numbers for FY2016. If any of these are your representatives call them now—10,000 is too high when as we know they cannot be properly screened for security! So far, 95% of the Syrians admitted to the US have been Sunni Muslims. The percentage jumps to 97% for those who entered in 2015 alone.

This is not about saving the persecuted Christians. Much to my shock, I have never heard any of the supposedly “religious” charities listed below specifically say they want to save Christians first!

The House subcommittee responsible for refugees is below. Check the full committee list here as well where you will find full names, party affiliation and district.
But, remember that Congress has been virtually absent in the 35 years the Refugee Admissions Program has been in existence, so don’t count on them to save America now, but you still have to try to get them to do something! At least they must hold hearings on the Syrians and object to Obama’s high numbers.

Federal refugee resettlement contractors on board—have upped the number to 100,000 Syrians

Only a week ago the US State Department contractors (who we hear are leading the State Dept. by the nose!) are now demanding that Obama admit 100,000 Syrians ASAP when only last week they said they would be satisfied with a mere 65,000.
Remember readers that the so-called “religious groups” mentioned in this article are PAID BY THE HEAD TO RESETTLE REFUGEES and that they decide to which towns and cities they will distribute them.

The Rev. John McCullough, CEO of Church World Service, pulls down a salary and related income package of just short of $300,000 while competing with other so-called “religious groups” in divvying up third world refugees to your towns and cities. http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2014/134/080/2014-134080201-0b0e1844-9.pdf

Reuters (Hey Reuters, when are you ever going to do a little research and mention that these are US State Department contractors largely funded with US taxpayer dollars masquerading as Christian and Jewish not-for-profit charities!):

(Reuters) – Religious groups in the United States have urged the White House to step up its response to the Syrian refugee crisis, with one on Tuesday calling Washington’s efforts so far “disappointing.”

Church World Service, a global humanitarian organization that represents 37 Christian denominations, has called on the government to take in 100,000 Syrians over the next year, said Jen Smyers, who works on the group’s immigration and refugee program.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, and the Jewish refugee assistance agency HIAS along with secular groups have also backed that figure.

The article goes on to tell us that the Lutherans think (in their infinite wisdom) that “the government’s definition of terrorism is overly broad.”
For new readers, below are the nine federal contractors paid with your tax dollars to resettle refugees in the towns of their choice!

“…assigning refugees to cities in the United States does not fall to the State Department. Those decisions are made by a consortium of nine national nongovernmental organizations.”

By the way, if your local church is doing a “Crop Walk,” then you are raising money for Church World Service which has 5 other employees in 6-figure salaries in addition to McCullough.
Reminder! Obama will be making the all important decision on refugees for FY2016 any day now.

Last night, most interested in learning more about the US Conference of Catholic Bishop’s paid lobbyist, Kevin Appleby, who lobbies for amnesty among other things, I was pleased to find the 2014 Annual Report for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops Migration Fund.

By the way, according to Guidestar, the Bishops don’t have to file a Form 990 with the IRS because they are a “church.” So, we can’t find out what salary and benefits package Mr. Appleby is pulling down. Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?

*** Refugees are required to repay their airfare, however the USCCB does the collecting and is permitted to keep a cut for themselves. In other words, the entire amount of the travel loan is not returned to the US Treasury.

That means that YOU, US taxpayers, are funding the Bishops to the tune of 97% of their budget.
They could not exist without putting their hands into Caesar’s treasury!

By the way, we had seen their annual report for 2012, but hadn’t seen one since. In 2014 they received around $16 million more from you than they did in 2012! Did the record number of Unaccompanied Alien Children they encouraged to come to the southern border account for the jump in income? We know the USCCB has been compensated for years to take care of the UACs.
Endnote: We have written about the USCCB and its government funding on many previous occasions, but since we have so many new readers and since our friend Jim Simpson has just come out with his report on the Red-Green Axis which includes the role the Catholic Church has played in advancing the agenda of the open borders political Left, I’m looking into all this again.
