I’ve got other things I’m working on this morning, but have put them on hold so I can blow off steam! A reader just sent me this story….grrrrr!
Wall Street Journal reporter Miriam Jordan writes ‘authoritatively’ on Muslim refugees going to”welcoming” Utah and fails to mention the horrific murder case that dragged on for years in Salt Lake City.
Some of the best reporting I’ve seen on refugees in my over 8 years of following the issue was done by Julia Lyon a reporter at the time for the Salt Lake Tribune.
Surely, Ms. Jordan was aware of the case, but mentioning it might mess up her goal in reporting on how everything is just wonderful with Muslim refugees in Utah (and so what is wrong with you in your not-so-welcoming state).
In 2008 a Burmese Muslim refugee raped and murdered a little Christian refugee girl. The medical examiner testified that she died in “excruciating pain” and first responders said the apartment where her body was found “looked like a horror scene.”
Met was ultimately found guilty in 2014.
Perhaps one of the greatest shames, besides some naive refugee resettlement agency placing Muslim refugees in the same apartment complex as Christians (who had hated each other in Burma!***), is that no major US media outlet ever picked up the story. Why? Because it doesn’t fit the ‘story’ they want to tell about refugee resettlement in America.
In Ms. Jordan’s case her title tells us everything we need to know: ‘With Welcoming Stance, Conservative Utah Charts Its Own Course on Refugees.’ The implication of course is that if “conservative” Utah can welcome Muslims, why can’t you!
She reports that there are no organized pockets of resistance in Utah.
And, her article (here if you can even open it) confirms once again the reason I started writing this blog in 2007. Now there are many many good writers and bloggers ‘balancing’ the news on refugees, but back in 2007, I was so sick of the fluffy stories that it drove me to bring some balance to the news. Guess I’ll just have to keep on balancing the news!
And, you can be sure that if someone writes about Utah and doesn’t mention Muslim murderer Met, I will be pointing it out. Met is most likely a Burmese Rohingya Muslim (very devout Muslims) and we are admitting thousands to the US right now.
***Btw, reporter Julia Lyon went to the camp in Thailand and found out that these two groups (Christians and Muslims) were housed in separate sections of the camp for good reason!

Germany: the tide is turning against Frau Merkel

You’ve probably seen this story at the Daily Mail warning of “dark forces” being unleashed in Germany in response to the policies of the Merkel government that has invited by some accounts a million Middle Eastern and African migrants to Germany. I’m posting it (even a couple of days old) because I want to make the point that how stunning it is that this news is not making it to the American mainstream news or even cable news in any big way. Why?
From the Daily Mail last Friday:
Sitting in his white-walled room on the second floor of an anonymous office block, the German politician talks from the heart.
He states emotionally that his country has changed for ever; that the European Union is finished and Chancellor Angela Merkel’s days are numbered.
‘Frau Merkel, she’s not right in the head,’ adds 46-year-old Siegbert Droese, pointing his finger at his temple.
‘She tells people from all over the Islamic world to come here to paradise. The numbers are mind-boggling and could reach ten million [when the migrants bring members of their families over to join them].
‘So many young men arriving every day with high testosterone and little respect for women mean the New Year sex attacks in Cologne will be repeated.
‘I am not alone in thinking this. The penny is dropping among ordinary Germans.’
What Herr Droese — president of the populist Eurosceptic party, Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) in the eastern city of Leipzig — says about German views on migrants is all too true.
According to a recent survey, half of the population is now sceptical that Mrs Merkel will cope with the huge influx.
This is despite her recent TV address to the nation — complete with Arabic sub-titles aimed at the 1.1 million migrants who arrived in 2015 and now live at the Government’s expense in 2000 camps, hotels and rented accommodation across the country — when she repeated her insistence that ‘we can do this’.
The tide is inexorably turning against her, and polls show her popularity is declining.

70% of supposed ‘refugees’ arriving in Germany are men!
This is news from last week that we didn’t get to, from Reuters (emphasis is mine):
Germany’s police union and women’s rights groups accused the authorities on Tuesday of playing down reports of harassment, sexual assault and even rape at refugee shelters because they feared a backlash against asylum seekers.

…. police union chief Rainer Wendt said he believed that authorities in Germany’s federal states, which are responsible for housing asylum seekers, were playing down the problem of assaults on women in the shelters.
“It is understandable that there is the desire to calm things down politically,” Wendt told Reuters. But he, along with women’s groups, believed that ignoring the problem would be counterproductive. “There is a lot of glossing over going on. With men accounting for about 70 percent of asylum seekers, other groups across the country have demanded gender-segregated accommodation and safe zones for women.
At least 800,000 asylum seekers are expected in Germany this year, and Chancellor Angela Merkel’s popularity has fallen with polls showing many voters believe she is taking too soft a line on allowing them into the country.

Sicily: Elderly couple murdered by African refugee; some locals take revenge
You’ve probably seen the news of the grisly murders of an elderly husband and wife on Sicily. The wife, 70 years old, is believed to have been sexually assaulted before being thrown off a balcony to her death. This is an update.
The refugee, Mamadou Kamara, from the Ivory Coast had arrived in Italy on one of the many migrant boats invading Europe from Libya (too bad his boat was one of the successful ones). Don’t forget, Ms. Hillary played a role in destabilizing Libya.
Seems the latest news is that several Sicilian youths have been arrested for ruffing up some other African refugees in what is being described as retribution.

The murdered couple’s daughter pointedly told politicians to stay away from the funeral.
Two migrants have been assaulted and robbed by a gang of Sicilian youths in what police fear is a retribution attack for the murder of two pensioners, allegedly at the hands of a would-be refugee, in the small town of Palagonia.
Tensions have soared in the small farming community, located near Catania, after 18-year-old Ivorian Mamadou Kamara, who was staying at the nearby Mineo reception camp for migrants, was arrested over the murder of Vincenzo Solano, 68, and his wife Mercedes Ibanez, 70.
Hundreds of people flocked a local church for the funerals of the couple, who police believe were killed during a robbery gone wrong. Kamara is accused of slashing Solano’s throat before throwing Ibanez to her death from a balcony. Police said an initial forensics examination suggest she was also sexually abused.
Detectives were quick in arresting Kamara, who arrived in Italy on a boat from Libya in June and asked for asylum. Evidence against him appears crushing. He was stopped during a routine control at the Cara Mineo a former US military base immersed in orange groves turned into Europe’s largest migrant holding camp, hosting 3,200 people from Eritrea, Sudan, Nigeria, Gambia, Liberia, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan and elsewhere.
A search of his bag revealed a video camera, a mobile phone, a PC, a gold chain and other goods all belonging to the murdered couple. The bag also contained a pair of blood-stained trousers, which Kamara sported in pictures retrieved by his mobile phone. At the time of the arrest he was wearing clothes taken from the victims’ wardrobe.
Kamara denies the accusations, claiming he found the bag abandoned in a garbage can off a street.
Solano’s daughter, Rosita, a 46-year-old school teacher, said she blames the government for the murder. “They let these migrants come here and they do what they want, including burgling and killing,” she said, adding that politicians were not welcome at the funerals.

In Sweden refugee murderers are NOT "dark forces in society," Swedes are
Unbelievable! The “dark forces” in Swedish society are the Swedes who want to save their country from the invaders!

I had mentioned the IKEA store knife murder a few days ago just as an addendum to another story about the invasion of Sweden, but so many of you have sent me links suggesting I post it. So I am. You are right it deserves a whole separate post of its own.
By the way, Swedish authorities are not releasing details of the murders which reminded me of the secrecy surrounding the Maine murder this week. In both cases, what are they hiding?

The IKEA superstore near Stockholm which witnessed a double murder this week by Eritrean asylum seekers has responded by ending the sale of kitchen knives in-store, and the government has stepped up its policing at asylum-lodgings to defend against a backlash.
The response of the Swedish authorities to the ‘stabbings’ which killed what is reported to be a Swedish native mother and son shopping in the Västerås branch of IKEA – the largest in the country – has mystified some international observers.
Immediately after the attack by the newly arrived migrants, who shared a room in a government asylum shelter and had only arrived in the country less than four weeks before, Swedish police rushed to protect migrant communities from “dark forces in society”.

IKEA itself has now joined in with Västerås store manager telling local media that knives will be removed from shelves, a “temporary” move the chain presumably hopes will neuter the desire some in society feel to murder strangers.
After the stabbing on Monday, the store reopened this morning. News Agency AFP reports Swedish police have been “tight-lipped” over what precisely happened in the store, and have refused to confirm various claims in the local and global media, from the identity of the victims and perpetrators, the exact nature of the murder weapons, to whether it was a beheading. There are unconfirmed suggestions in the fringe press that the killers shouted “Allah Akbar” as they struck.
