Somalis lead the world in practice of female genital mutilation

Isn’t diversity beautiful!

Here is news of a new report on this disgusting, degrading, barbaric practice that you know they are not leaving behind when they migrate to the West.

From All Africa.  The UN does something useful here:

Mogadishu — Approximately 6.5 million Somali girls and women have undergone female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) — otherwise known as female circumcision — according to a new report by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Although support for the practice is waning, the report indicates that 98% of Somali women between 15 and 49 have been cut or mutilated — the highest per capita percentage in the world.

In addition, the report states that female circumcision is higher among Somalis even in countries where the practice is less common.

Read it all.

We reported back in March that the practice was increasing in the US, here.

Photo:  The photo is from another report on FGM in June, here.  Looks like there is less and less interest in defending the procedure in a nod to ‘cultural relativism’ that seemed to be a trend gaining favor a few years ago.  And, from a practical standpoint, why should Westerners be expected to pay for the mental and physical health problems stemming from FGM when Somalis are resettled in the US.

European Union misjudged ‘refugee’ issue in wake of Arab Spring

This article at Deutsche Welle is titled:  ‘EU Planning better refugee protection’ but is nothing more than a restatement of the problem Europe, especially countries in the south (Malta, Greece, Spain and Italy), is having with being overrun by illegal migrants in the wake of the so-called ‘Arab Spring.’

Karl Kopp (Pro Asyl): Open prisons and build them housing!

I opened the article expecting to find a plan, but I sure don’t see it.  And, a ‘plan’ offered by a human rights advocate would only invite more migrants.

From Deutsche Welle (nothing new in the opening paragraphs):

Greece, Spain and Italy – many EU states are unable to cope with the influx of refugees from crisis areas and war zones. With refugee policies increasingly under fire, the EU is set to find a remedy.

[….]

Authorities in small states like Malta are overburdened by the flood of refugees. Greece, though much larger, is also strongly affected because refugees enter both by sea and by land, and migrants also try to cross into the EU illegally via the Greek-Turkish border. Many people fleeing the civil war in Syria also seek shelter in the EU.

It’s a good summary of Europe’s problem, but not much in the way of plans.  Read on.

Well, except for a plan from Pro Asyl, a human rights organization.  Spokesman Karl Kopp says:  open the prisons and build these people housing with taxpayers’ money.

Kopp has a concrete suggestion to end the inhumane conditions: “The EU should no longer detain people and build new prisons with European funds. Instead it should finance humane housing in Greece, and open the sordid jails there.” People in particular need of protection should be distributed across Europe, according to humanitarian criteria, and there should be legal ways to leave Greece, Kopp argues. “That would be an act of solidarity,” he adds.

Maybe Mr. Kopp has ‘humane housing’ (his home!) he could share with a dozen or so North Africans, Syrians or Afghans?

My suggestion:  Dump the EU and allow each country to decide questions of border security and sovereignty.

Somali government to Holland and Sweden: don’t send those troublemakers back here

Photo from Horseed Media

According to the Somaliland Sun, the new government of Somalia recently turned back an airplane carrying Somali youths being deported from the Netherlands and Sweden (were some of them the Somalis who terrorized Sweden back in May?).

I looked around a bit for another source on this news and didn’t find it.  In February the Dutch Government was thwarted in an attempt to send back a few criminal types, so I’m not sure there was a recent plane carrying Somali deportees from two countries (it strikes me as strange that the two countries coordinated such a flight).

Nevertheless, this is being reported at Somali websites (emphasis is mine):

Somalilandsun – An airplane carrying Somalis deported from Holland and Sweden has recently been turned back from Mogadishu airport

The Somali nationality and Immigration directorate have recently returned back an airplane carrying Somali youth deportees from Holland and Sweden , according to local Somali websites .

General Abdillahi Gaafo who is the director of Immigration said that ” it is illegal to send youth back to the country without any notification to the Somali government and without indicating the reasons behind their deportation” . Any forced return of Somalis by these countries should be prior to talks between these countries and Somalia and with prior agreement by the Somali government on the return of deportees to the country, the general concluded .

Holland has earlier been condemned for sending Somalis back to the war-torn country and the EU high courts have prevented many Somalis from being forcefully deported to Somalia by the Dutch government .

So, if it’s true, then the Dutch and Swedish governments need to try notifying first and see what happens.

Readers, think about this.  All over the world, Africans are leaving Africa and Middle Easterners are trying to get out of their hellholes.  How is this ever going to stop in the decades to come?  Sad to say, but in my view, the invasion of the West is only going to get worse.

Analyst: Europe unprepared for potential large scale exodus from Egypt

Writing at World Review, economic analyst Bernard Siman asks whether Europe could handle a new wave of “refugees” escaping Egypt this time.

Greece and Cyprus are the closest European countries to Egypt in Africa.

There has been little, if any, public discussion of possible scenarios, let alone serious crisis planning, whether politically, economically, administratively or militarily.

This is potentially a huge scale multi-dimensional problem.

Egypt’s 82.5 million population is separated from the Schengen area’s most eastern point of entry at Cyprus by 500 kilometres of Mediterranean Sea.

Any mass population movement fleeing Egypt’s violence – and in extremis civil war – will potentially be a game-changer at a time of serious and combined financial and economic crisis across Europe.

Austerity, deep financial cuts, widespread and vocal populist discontent about multiculturalism and immigration are affecting the eurozone and Cyprus and Greece in particular – the two Schengen members closest to the north Egyptian coast.

It is hard to say whether any naval crisis-planning exists to deal with such a sudden mass influx of Egyptian boat-people in the eastern Mediterranean.

Civil War in Egypt?

Egypt is descending into prolonged instability at best and civil war at worst. Both are likely to lead to increased migration through normal individual arrangements or mass exits.

The impact will not just be Europe’s to suffer….

See all of our posts on Malta (and Italy) going back almost 6 years and the problems they face with migrants arriving from Libya to get an idea of what Cyprus and Greece might face.  The US State Department has already set a dangerous precedent by transforming Malta’s illegal alien Africans into refugees being resettled now in your cities.  What is to stop them doing the same for (Muslim Brotherhood???) Egyptians arriving on Cyprus?

Malta: Muscat push-back plan gets attention from big media

The Telegraph has a detailed article on Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s plan to try to stem the tide of illegal aliens arriving on Malta, and getting stuck with them, because the EU rules they must abide by are really screwy.

“Refugees” hanging around in Malta waiting for a ticket out—to the US maybe!

We told you about the plan here and  here the other day.   If no changes are made Malta will eventually become a Muslim country, and the US will have played a role.

Here is the UK Telegraph:

The tiny island of Malta has received 17,743 mainly African migrants this decade – the equivalent, in Britain, of 2.5 million people. And it is struggling to cope, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat says.

[….]

Perched on a tiny but strategic set of islands between Europe and Africa, the Maltese have long prided themselves on their ability to repel unwanted invaders. In the 1500s, their resident Knights of St John were the heroes of Europe after seeing off the Ottoman Turks, and in the Second World War, they won the George Cross for helping Britain to keep Hitler at bay.

Their latest efforts to turn back a foreign armada, however, are unlikely to win such plaudits. Or not from the European Union, anyway, which last week was embroiled in a bitter row with Mr Muscat’s government over its plans to return Mr Abdi [a newly arrived Somali from Libya] and his ilk to Libya, from where they came in a people-smuggling boat 12 days ago.

Malta the doormat:

….the row has highlighted how Malta – and nearby Italy – is struggling to reconcile their obligations as EU states with their unsought role as the doormat for illegal migrants from Africa seeking entry to Europe.

EU rules keep them in Malta:

….few African immigrants seek to put down roots down in Malta, preferring instead to head to mainland Europe, where job prospects are better, and where they can legally go under the Schengen arrangements.

But that creates another problem. The rules insist they must return to the country where they first claimed asylum within three months, and while the majority simply overstay, every year hundreds are caught and forcibly returned to Malta from other Schengen countries.

The US to the rescue!

For new readers this is why we follow closely the controversy with illegal aliens (yes, The Telegraph calls them that in this piece) arriving on Malta—we are taking the largest share to America in a perversion of international refugee law.

Katrine Camilleri with Jesuit Refugee Services

A transfer scheme is already in place, but over the past decade other European nations have taken only 700 of Malta’s arrivals, with the US taking 1,300.

* Photo above is from this story where an immigration lawyer, Katrine Camilleri, (we mentioned her here) got an award for her stellar work with the migrants arriving on Malta.  This is what we want to know:

How many “refugees” has Ms. Katrine Camilleri welcomed to live in her home?

One more thing, Muscat represents the Center Left party in Malta and they are ticked-off at being labeled “xenophobes” by the immigration industry advocates.

Type ‘Malta’ into our search function for our many years of coverage of the Malta mess.
