Congolese refugee murdered in Portland, ME

And, it appears it is likely African immigrant on African immigrant crime.  What the heck is going on up in Maine?  (Just a couple of days ago we had this from Lewiston.*) And, today’s story is not the first violent crime we’ve reported in the immigrant community from Portland, the Peoples Republic of Maine (now that Massachusetts seems to be coming to its senses).     Hat tip: Susan, an irate Mainer

Check out these refugees from the Mulongo family at today’s Portland Press Herald and be sure to see the comments!

PORTLAND — Serge Mulongo, who escaped civil war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and eventually found refuge in Portland, was gunned down Wednesday night at the corner of Park Avenue and Weymouth Street, police said.

Investigators interviewed people who were in the area at 11:15 p.m., when residents reported hearing shots fired in quick succession. No arrests were made Thursday.

Police say they are particularly interested in two men who were seen running from the area right after the shooting. They have not been able to identify the pair, and aren’t positive that the men were involved in the killing.

Mulongo, who was 24, could have a hot temper and had a circle of friends who made it hard for him to stay out of trouble, said his brother Yannick Mulongo.

Yannick Mulongo is in the Cumberland County Jail, awaiting trial on charges of manslaughter and aggravated drunken driving in a crash in September that killed Guy Kitoko, 18, a relative by marriage.

Thank Catholic Charities, the only refugee resettlement agency in Maine, and Maine’s welfare magnet.

* Come to think of it maybe Portland’s Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence needs to clean up its own nest before it runs off to Frederick, MD,  Boise, ID, Fort Wayne, IN and Manchester, NH to tell citizens in those cities to be nice to immigrants!

Decision on deporting Obama’s Aunt put off until March

We told you the other day that Aunt Zeituni was due back in court in Boston on Thursday for a hearing on whether she should be deported to her native Kenya.  She had previously been ordered to leave the country and disobeyed an earlier judges order and stayed.   She was ‘outed’ just before Obama was elected to the Presidency in November of 2008.

From the Boston Herald:

From the designer sunglasses to the security entourage in gray suits and ear pieces, it was evident yesterday the towering, 6-feet-plus-tall Zeituni Polly Onyango is no garden-variety illegal alien.

The Kenyan aunt of President Obama – who arrived at U.S. Immigration Court in a wheelchair, but glided out on foot to the tapping beat of a cane – testified for 2 hours before Judge Leonard I. Shapiro in support of her second bid to be granted political asylum and continue living in Boston public housing.

“This is America. Justice will be done,” Margaret Wong, Onyango’s Cleveland, Ohio, attorney, told reporters. Wong refused to stipulate on what grounds Onyango seeks shelter from being sent packing back to East Africa.

Shapiro – whose 2004 deportation order the 57-year-old half-sister of Obama’s late father defied – is expected to render his decision on or before May 25. Closing arguments are due in writing by March 15.

Rush Limbaugh has had a field day criticizing Obama for neglecting his impoverished relatives  (especially George who lives in a hut) around the world, so he should get a kick out of this.  Obama has not even spoken to his aunt since before he was elected.  Imagine that!   If he is worried about public opinion I think he does more harm to himself by not at least talking to her and heck he should have invited her to Thanksgiving at the White House.

The Boston Herald reports that Obama doesn’t even speak to his Auntie!

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the president is not kicking in cash to help cover Onyango’s legal fees and has not spoken to her since learning of her immigration status days before his November 2008 election.

Minneapolis to beef up port security, see Somali threat

I had this story to post days ago (just didn’t get around to it) when I wrote about the Maine Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence picking four cities to embarrass and set their citizens’ minds right on the issue of immigrant overload in their communities, and am wondering why they aren’t going to tackle Minneapolis with the largest Somali population in the US.   Too tough a nut to crack I’m guessing.

Minneapolis town fathers, concerned about the security of their rather unimportant port, are nonetheless spending millions of  federal dollars to beef it up.

From the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Minneapolis has never had the port of its dreams. Its river shipping last year slipped below 700,000 tons, a far cry from the predicted 3 million tons annually that sold Congress on building the St. Anthony lock and dam.

But that’s not stopping the city from making plans to spend several million dollars on beefing up riverfront security over the next five years, with federal help. Friday the City Council endorsed spending nearly $1.4 million of that sum.

Although federal port funds are paying the tab, city emergency chief Rocco Forte said the benefits will go beyond preventing terrorist attacks on shipping.

From where might this threat come?  The Somali community, where else!

Although Minneapolis lacks enough shipping to crack the most recent list of the nation’s top 150 ports compiled by the American Association of Port Authorities, Forte sees a threat.

“We have to consider ourselves a prime target,” he said Friday. The director of emergency preparedness said the city’s biggest vulnerability comes from youths who have gone overseas and been trained in explosives, as a few Somalis have*.

Sounds a bit hateful, wouldn’t you say Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence?

Heads of major intelligence agencies in US also should get their minds right!

The Washington Times (and every other news outlet in the US) reported this week that intelligence agency heads warned Congress that a terrorist attack (likely from within) is expected in the US in the next 3-6 months.   Of course, what these articles never say is that the most likely attackers will be Muslims in the immigrant community!

The five senior leaders of the U.S. intelligence community told a Senate panel Tuesday they are “certain” that terrorists will attempt another attack on the United States in the next three to six months.

The warning came during the annual threat briefing to Congress in response to questions from Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat and chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, who asked, “What is the likelihood of another terrorist-attempted attack on the U.S. homeland in the next three to six months? High or low?”

“An attempted attack, the priority is certain, I would say,” Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair, a retired admiral, said in response.

Four other intelligence agency leaders who appeared at the hearing with Mr. Blair said they agreed with the assessment.

If the worst should happen, we, at RRW, will be ready and willing to report to confused media about how all the Muslim immigrants from terrorist-supporting countries came to be in the United States in the first place.

Somali pirates say they will share their booty with Haiti

Who would have ever thought this link would be made—Somalia and Haiti in the same article.  Get out of the way, US, we will aid Haiti say Somali pirates.  From AOL news:

(Feb. 1) — Hordes of private-sector aid groups fighting to alleviate the disaster in Haiti may soon be joined by some motley new allies: pirates.

Somali pirates have vowed to redistribute some of the millions of dollars they have stolen in the past few years to those suffering from the earthquake in Haiti, reports Agencia Matriz del Sur, a Spanish-language Web site that says it seeks to counter the media influence of wealthy countries. Somali pirates often divide their booty and distribute it to family and local citizens — a tactic also used by American gangs to develop community goodwill.

With language worthy of Errol Flynn’s schmaltziest “Robin Hood” moments, an unnamed spokesman for the pirates accused the United States and Europe of having “no moral authority” to distribute aid, telling Agencia Matriz del Sur that “they have been the ones pirating mankind for many years.”

According to this author, they have the worldwide connections to pull it off!

The Somali pirates’ announcement suggests that they are keen to keep that image alive in popular culture. Their charity claims may have little value beyond the literary, however. According to pirate leaders, “connections in various parts of the world” will ensure that they are capable of delivering aid without detection or, conveniently, accountability.

Whew!  I guess we can just stand down now.

Fate of Obama’s Aunt Zeituni to be decided by Judge on Thursday

Supposedly to avoid a “three-ring circus,” the deportation hearing will be closed to the public.  From the Boston Herald today:

The illegal alien aunt of President Obama could learn this week whether she can put down roots in Boston – or start packing her bags for a one-way trip back to Kenya.

And, save for U.S. Immigration Court Judge Leonard I. Shapiro, she’ll know before anyone else. Zeituni Polly Onyango has persuaded Shapiro to bar the public from her removal proceeding Thursday morning at the John F. Kennedy Federal Building, though it’s unclear why.

“I assume (Shapiro) thought it would be a three-ring circus. She’s the aunt of the president of the United States – the most famous man in the world,” said Mike Rogers, spokesman for the Ohio law firm defending Onyango, 57, against the Department of Homeland Security.

Then it is this last paragraph that seems to have generated the most anger among the commenters (there were 125 when last I looked).  Most want to know how she has managed to get government housing all the years she lived here illegally.

Onyango, a computer programmer, has been in the country illegally since 2004, when Shapiro ordered her to leave. Recent attempts to reach her at the South Boston housing development where she’s been living since a December 2008 stay of her deportation have been unsuccessful.

I skimmed the comments looking for anyone in support of Onyango and didn’t see any in my quick look.  However, I did see this one that made me laugh:

She will remain in the country because she knows where Obama was really born.

If you are new to the Aunt Zeituni saga, use our search function for her name, we have posted on the issue ever since it came up just before the Presidential election in November 2008.
