This is the latest on the story we posted earlier today. Now reports are that there was no conflict over religion just over a female refugee which very likely had a religious basis anyway. Infidels don’t dare mess with Muslim women!
The North Sumatra Police have named 18 Rohingya refugees suspects for a fight, which left eight Myanmar fishermen dead and 21 others with injuries, at the Belawan Immigration Detention Center in North Sumatra, a police official said.
“They are accused of conducting collective assault and torturing. They face a maximum sentence of 12 years if proven guilty,” local police spokesman Sr. Comr. Heru Prakoso said Saturday.
According to police investigations Rohingnya refugees were angered when a female refugee was sexually harassed by the fishermen.
“We found no other motive. Thus, speculation that the brawl was because of religious differences wasn’t true,” he said referring to reports that the incident followed a heated debate between a Muslim cleric and the Buddhist fishermen regarding conflict in Myanmar.
The refugees came to Indonesia in search of asylum, while the fishermen were detained over alleged illegal fishing activities.
Look for a new wave of violence back home in Burma. And, let’s be sure these charming fellows stay in Asia and not in Atlanta!
Update: 18 Rohingya to stand trial in killing of Buddhists, here.
But from most news accounts you would never know that the Buddhists were hit the hardest when clashes broke out in a detention center in Indonesia. And, get this! there were 100 Rohingya to 11 Buddhists! Wait till that news gets back to Burma!
In fact, this is the Reuters storythat only indicates that eight were killed, but leaves the impression that the long-suffering Muslims (always the victims!) took the brunt of the attack. You would have to read carefully to know that the Buddhists were the illegal aliens, and the Rohingya are the more acceptably-labeled “asylum seekers” although in fact they are also illegal aliens arriving in Indonesia (see the photo).
Here is a portion of the deceptive caption on this Reuters’ photo: “Eight illegal migrants were killed after a brawl between Buddhist and Muslim asylum seekers from Myanmar, a police official said on Friday.”
Buddhists and Muslims have been clashing in Burma (Myanmar) and the mainstream media has been trying exceptionally hard to make the Rohingya the underdogs. See our Rohingya Reportscategory (137 posts!) and you will see what I mean.
However, AP spells out in more detail what happened when the two factions clashed in a detention center where they had been housed together. The out-numbered Buddhist fishermen were in detention for illegally fishing in Indonesian waters, the Rohingya are there looking for asylum.
BELAWAN, Indonesia (AP) — Sectarian and ethnic tensions running high in Myanmar boiled over far outside the country’s borders Friday, when Buddhist fishermen and Muslim asylum seekers from the country brawled with knives and rocks at an Indonesian immigration detention center, leaving eight dead and another 15 injured.
The melee broke out in North Sumatra province, where more than 100 Rohingya migrants — most intercepted off Indonesia’s coast after fleeing their homeland in rickety boats — and 11 Buddhists accused of illegal fishing were being housed together, said local police chief Endro Kiswanto.
He said witnesses told police the clash started early Friday after a Rohingya Muslim cleric [how convenient that they have their own cleric in the detention facility!–ed] and a fisherman got into a heated debate about sectarian violence that erupted last month in central Myanmar when mobs of armed Buddhists torched Muslim-owned homes and shops, killing dozens and forcing thousands to flee.
The argument apparently started after the Rohingya migrants saw photos showing destruction caused by the recent violence, said Yusuf Umardani, detention center chief. Insults were traded, and the cleric was allegedly attacked by a fisherman. When the cleric screamed, his friends jumped in to help. From there, the rumble broke out so quickly, security guards were too late to stop it.
“The violence took place so fast, and it was completely unexpected because they had been living peacefully here so far,” Umardani said. “Most of the dead victims suffered severe head injuries. Eight Buddhists were killed, and 15 Rohingya were injured.Three other Buddhists escaped unharmed, Kiswanto said.
Local police spokesman Col. Raden Heru Prakoso said 18 Rohingya detainees have been named as suspects.
Last May the US Conference of Catholic Bishops called for the US to take in more Rohingya “refugees”here. Some have already gone to New Hampshire, here. Earlier the IRC (a federal contractor) began resettling Rohingya in Atlanta. That is where DeKalb County officials recently told the State Department—enough already!
Seems six asylum seekers arrived in the Turks and Caicos (four from Cuba and two from Columbia). They then proceeded to protest their detention in a novel manner, and lo-and-behold the UN High Commissioner for Refugees clears the way for four of them to stay and work in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Cuban asylum seeker: One way to make sure your hunger strike is not interrupted!
When you read this it will make you laugh how many times everyone insists that the illegal aliens’ novel protest method had nothing to do with expediting their case.
Here is the gist of the story from TC Weekly (it isn’t often we get reports from this part of the world). And, it makes me wonder what is up with these Cubans when we (US) are allowing thousands and thousands of Cubans into the US as refugees annually, why aren’t these guys on their way to America? Were they rejects?
FOUR of six immigrants detained in the Turks and Caicos Islands were granted asylum this week.
But this is not as a result of their shocking protest action, according to the Government s Border Control Minister.
They claimed that they were being denied basic human rights at Providenciales Detention Centre where they were being held, and retaliated by going on a hunger strike.
One other Cuban man and a Columbian were also being detained at the centre waiting on a decision from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) a UN agency mandated to protect and support refugees.
Minister of Border Control and Labour, Ricardo Don-Hue Gardiner, spoke about the issue during a post-Cabinet press briefing at the Arch Plaza in Providenciales on Thursday.
He said that he received reports from the UNHCRon the asylum requests of three of the Cuban men on Friday and the two others on Tuesday.
“As a result of those reports the Ministry of Border Control has made a decision to grant asylum following the recommendation of the UNHCR to three of the Cubans.
The two who were rejected on the first round can appeal. The UN will again tell us what to do!
“Should they appeal, those appeals will then go in the usual course to the UNHCR who would then advise us of having further investigated the claims.
“They will then advise us of what they think we should do, but then it again becomes the responsibility of the TCI Government to make a decision on those claims.
LOL! And, just so you understand (again!) that their tactic to draw attention to themselves did not sway the decision!
“The TCI Government does not lend itself to be swayed by those kinds of activities; we look to the facts that we ve been given and we take the decision based on those facts.
“It is coincidental only that the reports from the UNHCR were received on the same day of last Friday before these actions, and so they are in no way as a result of these actions.
So, these guys in detention had needles and string handy for their little protest….hmmmm! Wonder where they got the idea?
Make room Malta, here we come—more jobless immigrants looking for a ticket to America!
He was talking about a Somali on the island nation of Malta who had just been apprehended while in the process of stealing money from an open van. From the Times of Malta on Friday (hat tip: Charles):
Mohammed Nur, 34, of Somalia, was jailed for 18 months after he pleaded guilty to stealing cash from a van in Marsa at around 5pm yesterday.
Mr Nur, who resides at the Marsa open centre, was also charged with slightly injuring the owner of the vehicle.
[….]
Lawyer Cedric Mifsud, appearing as legal aid, said his client had problems because he was an immigrant and could not find a job, which led to him “doing these stupid things”.
Then don’t forget it was only two months ago that a bunch of “refugees” were charged with wrecking their living quarters on Malta apparently just for kicks here.
Lawyer Mifsud must be the go-to guy for crimes committed by the flood of illegal aliens who have arrived on Malta—many surely in hopes of being the lucky ones who get their ticket to America.
For new readers, we—the US State Department (cheered on by Catholic Charities)—is partially to blame for the increasing tide of Africans ‘finding their way’ to Malta because during the Bush years we set a dangerous precedent, we magically transformed Somalis who arrived on Malta (seeking asylum?) into legitimate refugees to be taken to your cities and towns. Refugee law requires that legitimate asylum seekers ask for asylum in the first safe place they arrive—that would be Malta and by extension the European Union.
It’s not just petty thieves and toilet-wreckers who are on Malta but here, on the same day as the first story above, Lawyer Mifsud is defending two Somalis (jobless men doing stupid things?) charged with raping an Italian woman. Also, from the Times of Malta:
Two Somali men have been remanded in custody after they pleaded not guilty to raping an Italian woman in Hal Far on March 25 between 2 and 4am.
The men, Abdiraman Abukar, 26, and Liban Mohamoud, 26, both of Floriana, were also charged with are violent indecent assault, holding the woman against her will, harassing her, offending public morals and slightly injuring her.
The 21-year-old Italian, who resides in Valletta, filed a police report saying she was raped on Sunday night by a number of foreigners.
The men also pleaded not guilty to stealing her mobile phone and using violence against the woman.
Mr Mohamud, alone, was charged with driving a car without a licence and breaching bail conditions. Mr Abukar was charged with relapsing.
Police Inspector Yvonne Farrugia told Magistrate Neville Camilleri the men were arrested after their mobile phone numbers were traced from a number of records.
She objected to a bail request because of the nature of the crime, to which, she said, there were several witnesses, including the victim.
Mr Mahmoud had breached previous bail conditions and did not even respect the curfew imposed by another court, Insp. Farrrugia said.
The Abukar had been found guilty of raping another woman.
Insp. Farrugia said the victim identified the two men as her rapists.
More on the way!
Also last Friday there were several reports of boats on the way from north Africa where we—the Obama Administration—is also to blame for creating more lawlessness in Libya. Most of these boat people are launching from there.
Eighty migrants rescued off Malta, from Perthnow.com:
A PREGNANT woman and a baby were among a group of 82 African migrants rescued from a dinghy off the coast of Malta.
The migrants were spotted some 110km south of the Mediterranean island after they had sent out an SOS via satellite phone. Officials said they had left Libyan shores.
The group, made up of 82 Somalis, including 10 women, were taken into custody upon their arrival in Malta. Their condition is unknown.
Three other boats with 260 people on board were intercepted by Italian coastguards early on Friday and taken to an immigration centre on the island of Lampedusa.
I was hoping that some of this trafficking would be brought under control when we learned in January that two bigwigs had been arrested at the Italian Embassy in Nairobi for trafficking Somalis to Malta (and Europe), here. Guess not!
Readers, the Western world and our way of life is in deep trouble. Forget the terrorists and nuclear bombs—the real nuclear bomb is third world immigrants flowing across and around the globe looking to survive. And, we better dump the politically correct b.s. about the joys of multiculturalism or we are doomed. Most Americans have no clue what is coming our way (forget Europe their goose is already cooked!).
For more on Malta, type ‘Malta’ into our search function and I bet we have over 100 posts on the mess the US helped create there.
About the photo: It was originally published in a story at New Europeon the hundreds (including the 82) who arrived on Malta and on Italy’s Lampedusa Island Friday.
They call them failed asylum seekers—aliens who have arrived in Canada illegally, asked for refugee status, but come from countries that are capable of protecting them and so are being denied the right to stay in Canada. We mentioned this policy earlier this month, here. In the past they received free medical care, but no more.
America pay attention because as Obamacare kicks in and we can’t afford it, we will be headed down this same road. Socialized medicine—free to all—cannot survive.
Immigration minister Jason Kenney: They have to be real refugees to get our free healthcare.
Israel Sosa’s deportation has been put on hold as the 50-year-old battles colon cancer.
The failed refugee claimant from the Dominican Republic has been allowed to stay in Canada on humanitarian grounds for now — but he has been banned from getting treatment under Ottawa’s Interim Federal Health (IFH) Program for refugees.
The Toronto man could choose to delay treatment and face death — or go into debt paying his medical costs. [He could go into debt and pay it off over time, could he not?—ed]
That’s the new reality for asylum seekers from the so-called “safe countries” — ones such as Mexico and the Czech Republic, which are deemed democratic countries capable of state protection — as well as failed refugee claimants.
They are no longer eligible for government health care as of last June, unless they put public health at risk. The old program covered them for emergency and basic health care, similar to what is included with OHIP.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney has said these are not legitimate refugees and taxpayers should not be held accountable for their care. The cuts are expected to save Ottawa $100 million over five years.
“It is very important to distinguish between a refugee, an asylum claimant and a failed asylum claimant. Canadians have been clear that they do not want illegal immigrants and bogus refugee claimants receiving free, gold-plated health-care benefits,” Alexis Pavlich, Kenney’s press secretary, told the Star this week.
However, critics say the federal government cannot just sit back and watch these patients suffer as resource-stretched hospitals demand prepayments for medical procedures and tests.
A court will decide if the cuts are unconstitutional:
Two national organizations made up of physicians and lawyers are suing Ottawa, arguing the health cuts are unconstitutional and illegal under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The case is expected to be heard in a year.
There is much more, more sad cases to tweak the Canadian taxpayers’ guilt, read it all.
This is what I don’t get, why can’t all the complainers start a foundation to collect private charity to fund some of these medical cases. Maybe they can’t all be saved, but some would and surely they could find enough rich people/celebrities and so forth willing to show their generosity to the poor immigrants.
Another 1000 Bhutanese headed for Canada
Just now looking over the website for Canada’s Immigration Department I see that they just this week announced that they will take another 1000 Bhutanese from camps in a safe country—Nepal—which would bring their resettled Bhutanese population up to a total of 6,500. Not to be too picky about the facts, but the Bhutanese are of Nepali descent and are in Nepal, again a safe country, but somehow they are persecuted refugees in need of resettlement to Canada (and to the US where our totals are now approaching the 70,000 mark!) and will be eligible for free, free, free health care?
