Everybody wants a fence these days!
From the Independent:
Norway is building a steel fence at its arctic border with Russia after an influx of thousands of refugees last year.
The new fence, which will be around 660 feet long and 11 feet high, will stretch from the Skorskog [typo apparently, should be Storskog—ed] border point, sources in the Norwegian government told Reuters.
Construction of the fence is due to finish before winter frosts set in, making it harder to enter Norway through the forest.

Last year, Russia and Norway battled to repeatedly reject the same refugees.
Norway said it would begin sending refugees who have Russian residency permits back to Russia, arguing it had received no “satisfactory” explanation from Russia as to why it sent so many refugees to Norway rather than Finland.

Thousands took to the streets yesterday, not just in Berlin, but across the country in furious demonstrations against the policies of German Chancellor Angela Merkel that have opened the gates of Europe’s most prosperous country to literally an invasion by the third world. In Berlin: Police stand between demonstrators demanding Merkel’s resignation and those ‘welcoming’ more Muslims to Germany.

Merkel’s premiership is hanging by a thread today as thousands gathered to call for her resignation while a key political ally dramatically withdrew his support over immigration policy.
More than 5,000 protested in Berlin and thousands more throughout Germany over the ‘open-door’ policy that many have blamed for four brutal terrorist attacks that left 13 dead over the last month.
The Chancellor faced a fresh wave of fury after it emerged that two recent terror attacks and a third killing were carried out by men who entered the country as refugees.

If Angela goes (because of German fury about Muslim migration) it will be a major blow to Clinton’s campaign (she has promised tens of thousands of Syrian Muslims will enter the US if she is elected) as it would send a powerful message to US voters.
I’m sure you’ve seen the news over the last day or so, but am posting links for those who haven’t. German Chancellor Angela Merkel with refugee. This ‘selfie’ should go down in political strategists’ training manuals as an example of what NOT to do with refugees from the Middle East.
First from Reuters (Syrian refugee kills a pregnant woman with a machete):
A 21-year-old Syrian refugee was arrested on Sunday after killing a pregnant woman with a machete in Germany, the fourth violent assault on civilians in western Europe in 10 days, though police said it did not appear linked to terrorism. [No terrorism, so move along!—ed]
The incident, however, may add to public unease surrounding Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open-door refugee policy that has seen over a million migrants enter Germany over the past year, many fleeing war in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq.
German police said they arrested the machete-wielding Syrian asylum-seeker after he killed a woman and injured two other people in the southwestern city of Reutlingen near Stuttgart.

Then, over the same weekend, a Syrian suicide bomber explodes his backpack outside of a music event in a Bavarian town. From Russia Today:
Bavarian authorities have announced that the suspected suicide bomber, who was killed in the Ansbach explosion, was a 27-year-old Syrian whose asylum request was rejected last year. The motive behind the attack, which injured 12 people, remains unknown.

The attacker was a 27-year-old Syrian who had entered the country about two years ago, but was refused asylum, Bavarian authorities told a press conference. His application was rejected a year ago but the man was allowed to stay in Germany temporarily, due to ongoing hostilities in Syria.***

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees will reveal why the suspect’s asylum application had previously been rejected later in the day Herrmann (Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann) noted that those who are “seeking protection in Germany, must show full respect for the German legal system and the German population.”
The minister added that the attack demonstrated the need “to strengthen controls on those we have living in our country”.
Following a press conference, Herrmann told Germany’s DPA, that he personally considers the bombing in Ansbach to have been the work of an Islamist suicide bomber.
“My personal opinion is that, unfortunately I think, it is very obvious that there has been a real Islamist suicide attack here,” Herrmann said early Monday.

***By the way, this happens in the US too. If someone is denied asylum, but they come from a country in turmoil, we don’t deport them either!

One of the tens of thousands of Muslim migrants Germany ‘welcomed’ in recent months and years went on a hacking and slashing attack on a German train injuring many yesterday. Fortunately no one was killed but three are in serious condition the UK Telegraphreports. The Telegraph also reports that ISIL is claiming that he worked (past tense since the police killed him) for them. Can you imagine what laughs the Islamists get when they see signs like this with hearts and happy faces!
The Islamic State said they were infiltrating the refugee stream, so why don’t we believe them?
And, btw, there are no guns in this story to blame because Germany severely limits gun ownership. The next best thing—knives and axes!
Islamic State has claimed an Afghan teenager who attacked passengers on a train in Germany with an axe on Monday night as one of its ‘fighters’.
Earlier on Tuesday, the interior minister said a hand-drawn Isil flag was found in the room of the 17-year-old, whose attack left three seriously injured.
Police shot dead the suspect as he attempted to flee the scene. The assault in Wurzburg was the latest suspected terror attack to shock Europe following the atrocity in Nice last Thursday.
Isil’s online Amaq news agency released a statement claiming the attack.
“The perpetrator of the stabbing attack in Germany was one of the fighters of the Islamic State and carried out the operation in answer to the calls to target the countries of the coalition fighting the Islamic State,” the statement said.
“It is quite probable that this was an Islamist attack,” said a ministry spokesman on Monday, adding that the attacker had apparently shouted “Allahu akbar” (God is greatest) as he stabbed people.
The attacker was said to have been carrying “weapons for slashing and cutting”, according to German media reports, including an axe.

Joachim Herrmann, the interior minister of Bavaria state, said the assailant had arrived as an unaccompanied minor in Germany and had lived at first in a shelter and then more recently with a foster family in nearby Ochsenfurt.

The answer of course is NO! Legitimate refugees are people escaping persecution of one sort or another. Economic migrants and even people staying out of war zones are NOT real refugees! If Syrians move back and forth across Turkish/Syrian borders, are they really persecuted refugees fearing for their lives?
I’ve been remiss in not reporting this fantastic essay by two former US asylum judges in which they define very carefully the definition of a refugee (or legitimate asylum seeker)—a definition that we believe has been intentionally perverted so that anyone in the world on-the-move is considered a refugee.
Serious students of the Refugee Admissions Program must read ‘Blurred lines: Migrant vs. Refugee’ by the Hon. Mahlon F. Hanson and Hon. Elizabeth A. Hacker posted last month at theImmigration Reform Law Institute. (Hat tip: Joanne)
Then ask yourselves, if Syrians “return home” to Syria for the holidays are they truly refugees? Or, are they economic migrants using the conflict as an excuse to move up in the world (at your expense!).

Thousands of Syrian refugees in Turkey are returning home to Syria to mark the Islamic festival of Eid al Fitr which commences Tuesday.
Turkey temporarily relaxed controls at the Cilvegozu border crossing in its south-eastern province of Hatay last week, allowing Syrians with foreigner cards—those issued to refugees—to pass into northern Aleppo.
The border will remain open till 5pm local time on July 5, the start of the three-day holiday. Syrians returning to Turkey are obliged to do so before July 8 or face being barred from the country.
Turkey regularly opens the border to allow Syrians to return home for Eid holidays.
Why does the political Left and open borders aficionados on both the Left and Right want everyone to be a REFUGEE?
First because refugees are eligible for all sorts of welfare/services. They are free to work in the country in which they have landed, they can bring in the extended family, and they will ultimately become citizens of the countries in which the UN places them. Why the political Right doesn’t see that they will ultimately vote the R’s (in America, in Europe the Right gets it) out of office is beyond me. But, it seems that the Republican supporters of Open Borders see the dollar signs as the refugees are ready cheap labor for their big donors and the R’s get to wear the white hat of humanitarianism as an added bonus!
Of course there are surely larger forces than some on the American Right and Left driving the No Borders movement worldwide, but who or what is doing that is beyond my understanding!
