Pope frets over Rome anti-refugee riots: Couldn’t he see this coming on Lampedusa?

He went to the besieged Italian island in 2013 and put on a great show of “welcome” to the mostly illegal aliens coming from Africa and the Middle East.

July 2013, Pope lectures on Lampedusa, chides the world for its indifference!

He said mass and lectured the world about indifference to our brothers and sisters, while the struggling elected officials of Lampedusa tried to tell anyone who would listen that they couldn’t manage the hordes anymore—the cost, the crime, all of it.

From the New York Times (entitled: ‘Pope offers mass on island beacon for refugees‘)

ROME — Pope Francis traveled on Monday to Lampedusa, the tiny Mediterranean island that has become a gateway to Europe for thousands of desperate asylum seekers and migrants, as well as an unknown number of others who have died during the perilous crossing from North Africa.

It was the pope’s first official trip outside Rome, and he used it to draw attention to a continuing humanitarian problem while chiding the world for its indifference.

“These brothers and sisters of ours were trying to leave difficult situations to find a little serenity and peace….

We wrote about his scolding here.

Now that Rome itself is overloaded with demanding third-worlders (mostly young Muslim men who came in through Lampedusa, by the way), and its citizens are rioting against the loss of their neighborhoods and their way of life, the Pope seems, what?  Surprised?  What did he expect!

Now, he says, we have a “social emergency!”

From Yahoo News:

Vatican City (AFP) – Pope Francis on Sunday described violent attacks on refugees in Rome as symptomatic of a “social emergency” that will only get worse if it is not addressed.

Addressing the crowds in St Peter’s Square after his weekly Angelus sermon, the pontiff urged authorities and church officials to work to calm tensions after several days of mob attacks on a holding centre for asylum speakers in a rundown neighbourhood of the Italian capital.

“In recent days in Rome there have been quite strong tensions between residents and immigrants,” the pontiff said, in a reference to the unrest in the Tor Sapienza district.

“These are things that can happen in different European cities, particularly in peripheral neighbourhoods already suffering from other problems.  [So why didn’t he see that when he essentially invited the masses to Italy in 2013?—ed]

“I call on the authorities, at every level, to address what now constitutes a social emergency which, if not dealt with soon in an adequate manner, risks degenerating further.

No kidding!

The Asylumist blog takes a whack at Wyomingites opposed to refugee program; perpetuates the big lie

I wonder what blogger and immigration lawyer Jason Dzubow thinks of the Somali scheme (surely encouraged by Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains who resettled thousands of Somalis to CO to work in meatpacking) for “refugees” to high-tail-it to Wyoming to pick up subsidized housing vouchers to take back to Colorado (our top post for two weeks now! see also here) and thus rip-off the needy people of Wyoming.

We missed this blog post by Dzubow ten days ago (I’m not a regular visitor).  But, this morning when I wanted to see what he has to say about the “unaccompanied alien children” issue, I saw this post, entitled: Wyoming, the “Equality State,” Is Anything But.

Washington, DC Immigration lawyer and blogger Jason Dzubow. http://www.lawmavens.com/html/jason_dzubow.html

Dzubow:

There is only one state in the Union without a refugee resettlement program–Wyoming. Late last year, the state’s Republican governor, Matt Mead, took some tepid steps toward establishing a public-private partnership to help resettle refugees in the Equality State. Predictably, those efforts were met by fierce resistance, both from inside and outside the state.

He credits Congolese refugee Bertine Bahige with getting the campaign going to bring refugees to Wyoming.  Truthfully Bahige doesn’t have that much power, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains located in Colorado was already casting around for fresh territory as Colorado is in refugee overload. (Reportedly an Idaho office was looking for fresh turf as well.)

A former refugee, and now a Wyoming resident and high school math teacher, Bertine Bahige, began a campaign to change the situation and encourage Wyoming to join the rest of the country and establish a refugee resettlement program. As a result of his efforts, in September 2013, the Governor made some preliminary inquiries with HHS about establishing a resettlement program.

[….]

But once word got out that Wyoming was considering thinking about possibly creating a resettlement program, hundreds of people called the Governor’s office to express opposition to the plan. In response, a spokesman for the Governor issued a statement, “Wyoming is not setting up a refugee camp…. This is still very preliminary.”   [As I have said before, this comment about a “refugee camp” is meant to make the opponents look stupid—it is the Jonathan Gruber (voters are dumb) strategy being played out by elitists including this Republican governor.—ed]

Next, Dzubow suggests fear of fraud by the “religious charities” is of little significance.

Remember Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains wanted their efforts in Wyoming kept secret until they were further along in the process.   In my view, since Lutheran Family Services is almost completely funded with tax dollars it has forfeited the right to be called a “religious charity.”  It is a quasi-government agency and thus open to taxpayer scrutiny and accountability.  Here is Dzubow with his “religious charity” mumbo-jumbo:

Mr. Barnett is also concerned with fraud in the refugee system. Of course, fraud and costs are legitimate concerns, but so is protecting refugees, and to me, Mr. Barnett’s throw-the-refugee-baby-out-with-the-bathwater approach mischaracterizes and unfairly distorts the life-saving work of the religious charities.

Now here comes the BIG LIE!

In the final paragraph of Dzubow’s little lecture to Wyomingites, he says a state can determine how many refugees it will take!  That is a myth.  In reality, once a city or state has a refugee office opened (by one of the contractors or subcontractors of the US State Department and the Dept. of Health and Human Services), it takes an enormous and sustained effort by state and local elected officials to stop the flow—and it isn’t ever stopped completely once the office has begun bringing in the refugees.  The best they can do is get a brief slowdown.

Here is what happens:  The resettlement contractor brings in the original “seed community” (their term) and then they proceed to bring in the family members and then use a guilt-trip on those who say—it is too many! we can’t afford more!—suggesting that the complaining citizens of the city/state are mean-spirited, “unwelcoming,” greedy, racist boobs.

The federal Office of Refugee Resettlement might even call in the dogs (contractor ‘Welcoming America’) to calm the “pocket of resistance.”

Here is Dzubow’s final little lecturing guilt-trip (including the big lie) to Wyoming.  Blah! blah! blah!

In some ways, though, this is all a tempest in a tea pot. I doubt Wyoming would ever accept more than a handful of refugees (although it is a large state, it has a small population), and so in practical terms it wouldn’t mean much one way or the other. However, in symbolic terms, I think it is important. The United States has committed to protect a certain number of refugees each year. This commitment reflects our values as a nation and our position as the leader of the Free World. In fulfilling our commitment, it would be nice to see all 50 states doing their share. So come on Wyoming, we’re all waiting for you to join us. I think you will be glad you did.

Sweden: Muslim immigrant gangs control no-go zones

This is not new news for readers of RRW.  This is the inevitable result of Sweden swinging wide its gates to Muslim phony asylum seekers for years and more proof for my contention that Sweden will be the first European country to fall in the ‘Invasion of Europe.’

OMG! Can you imagine the day when Muslim gangs torch cars in America!

From Matt Danielsson at the Daily Caller:

The situation in the gang-controlled no-go zones of Sweden is deteriorating rapidly. Following the police report conceding the areas to the primarily Muslim immigrant gangs, the Swedish ambulance union is now demanding military grade protection gear to enter the no-go zones.

There have been a number of violent incidents lately, where thugs attack ambulances responding to calls in the zones. Thugs have slashed the tires of the ambulances, smashed their windshields and hurled large rocks from overpasses, while the paramedics themselves are subjected to both armed and unarmed physical violence on a regular basis. The situation has become so dire that the ambulance union now demands dramatically improved protection for its members.

Hate crimes are one-directional!

White citizens are haters, but immigrants can never be racists and perpetrators of hate crimes (actually come to think of it, during his tenure at the Justice Department, US Attorney General Eric Holder has been trying to get that concept into American law too!):

Ethnic Swedes are also being attacked. Local celebrity Linda Edenström’s 12-year old son was savagely beaten. In October, he took the subway after school to give a birthday present to a girl in his class. He was unaware she lived in a no-go zone, and when he exited the station he was promptly stopped by seven grown immigrants. They declared that no whites were allowed and proceeded to attack him while hurling anti-white slurs.

Swedish law states that the incident is not a hate crime. The law does not apply to an immigrant targeting a native Swede, even if an immigrant does so while explicitly stating they are doing it for racial reasons. However, the reverse situation with a native Swede saying a slur that could be perceived as racist has severe civil and criminal charges.

More from Rome: It is the ‘unaccompanied minors’ creating tension! UN blasts “extremists”

So check it out!  ABC News is reporting that riot police have been brought in to protect the ‘children’ in a Rome neigborhood (really the teenaged boys who have flooded to Italy, just like the ‘children’ invaded America this summer).  See our post yesterday, here.

So, what do you think, just a coincidence, or is this part of a strategy, helped along by the likes of George Soros, to bring on a revolution, to bring down the West?

AP via ABC News (emphasis mine):

Riot police moved in Thursday to prevent residents of a neighborhood on Rome’s outskirts from attacking refugees living at a holding center in the latest incident of anti-immigrant tensions rocking Italy.

The working-class neighborhood of Tor Sapienza has seen several days and nights of violence against refugees by residents who blame foreigners for crimes. The residents say they’re not racist, but are fed up with what they say are years of neglect by government authorities who have allowed gypsies, migrants and asylum-seekers to settle in Rome’s peripheries without providing adequate services.

For the UN it is never possible that the “children” might be the problem, it is always the local citizens who are violent and filled with intolerance.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees condemned the violence, saying refugees and unaccompanied minors fleeing war and conflict deserve protection, respect and help integrating, not “unacceptable” acts of violence and intolerance.

In a statement, the UNHCR condemned “extremists” who are capitalizing on residents’ fears to fuel conflict.

Officials at the “Smile” center said unaccompanied minors living there — most aged 16 and 17 from Egypt and Bangladesh — were being moved to another center in Rome for their own security after another small clash broke out Thursday.

Watch for more updates in our ‘Invasion of Europe’ series.

Update from Rome: Tensions high at refugee center, minors evacuated

We reported on Wednesday that local residents in one neighborhood of Rome have had it with the local refugee center claiming the asylum seekers have brought crime to their community.

See our original story here.

Reader ‘pungentpeppers’ spotted this latest news and asks why Italy is even giving refuge to mostly Muslim Egyptians and Bangladeshis. My guess is that—just as is happening in the US with the so-called Unaccompanied Alien Children—everyone who is an economic migrant (not a legitimate refugee) and wanting to get into a first world country these days is claiming they are persecuted and are demanding asylum.  They know how to use that “A” word! Someone has taught them how to use it!

Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino, …the building has been “seriously damaged.” Photo from story about Rome being broke: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/28/rome-spared-bankruptcy-italy-rescue-matteo-renzi

From Deutsche Welle:

On Thursday, workers at a refugee center on the outskirts of Rome reported renewed tensions with local residents, who have been holding violent demonstrations against the foreigners in recent days.

“We are scared. We are trying to find a compromise with the residents,” a center official, Francesco Amato, told the Associated Press news agency. The refugees currently being housed at the facility are reported to be primarily from Egypt and Bangladesh.

Amid the upswing in violence despite a heavy police presence, minors were evacuated from the site.  [The movement of UACs is going on around the world—ed]

A statement from Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino’s office indicated that the building in the eastern suburb of Tor Sapienza had been “seriously damaged,” according to Reuters news agency.

Hostilities escalated on Monday, with protesters throwing stones and bottles at the center as they shouted insults at its residents.

“Rome rejects all forms of violence, racism and xenophobia,” Marino said in the statement.

Conflicting reports have described the protesters in Tor Sapienza, on the one hand, as disgruntled Italian natives whose ire is directed at the government’s insufficient support for the refugees and, on the other, as far-right xenophobes.

For new readers, check our ‘Invasion of Europe’ series for background on how Italy got into this mess in the first place by sending its Navy out to rescue boats filled with illegal aliens coming from North Africa.

Then this about a country in economic turmoil as it is, from DW:

According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Italy will be home to nearly 80,000 refugees and close to 14,000 asylum seekers by January.

For US readers, we are bringing you news from Europe (going over the edge!) so that you know what might be ahead for us as migrant numbers reach a certain critical tipping point.  Will Obama bring us there quickly with his threatened amnesty for millions?
