Another 50 of Australia's rejected asylum seekers are on the way to Any Town, USA

The newest batch of 50 will join the 233 already here.  An Australian official who was originally involved with making the “dumb” deal with Barack Obama predicts the US will take all 1,250 and maybe more!
For new readers who have never heard of this incredibly stupid arrangement, see my entire archive of previous posts by clicking here.

The Trump Administration has selected 50 more for you to welcome to your towns and cities. Where are they being located? It is a secret!

From The Australian:

Former Australian Border Force commissioner Roman Quaedvlieg says he is confident the Trump administration will accept its upper limit of 1250 refugees under a deal with the federal government, and said the US might take even more people.

The government yesterday seized on reports a further 50 refugees in Manus Island and Nauru had been cleared for resettlement in the US to argue the government’s border protection policies were working.

Mr Quaedvlieg was removed from his job in March after an official investigation but previously worked on the deal originally sealed with the Obama administration.

It was the subject of a tense phone call between Malcolm Turnbull and US President Donald Trump.

Trump and Turnbull

“The US deal to settle refugees from Manus and Nauru was struck throughout the course of 2016 and was achieved through both formal and informal diplomatic channels,” Mr Quaedvlieg told The Australian.

“Many of us called in friendships and favours in relationships that we cultivated through the Five Eyes alliance.

(Click here to learn about Five Eyes which I had never heard of!)

“We were fortunate that President Trump honoured the deal that was struck with the Obama administration.”

Under the deal, the US agreed to accept as many as 1250 people as long as they passed “extreme vetting” procedures.

Mr Quaedvlieg, a former senior police officer, said he would not rule out the US accepting more than 1250 refugees.

[….]

Sky News reported 50 refugees had been cleared for resettlement in the US and would move to their new home within a fortnight. This would be in addition to the 233 people who had already moved to the US under the deal.

How ironic is this!  The new New Zealand Prime Minister made a big show a few months back of offering to take some of the mostly Muslim men that Australia won’t take to its mainland, but not so fast!

Government papers obtained by the news outlet this month show Australia asked the New Zealand government to keep its offer on the table as a contingency plan in case the US deal fell through.

Interestingly, the government documents suggested there were concerns about detainees passing New Zealand’s own strict screening and security laws.

There is no sense directing you to the whole article (it is behind a pay wall), but take my word for it.
Donald Trump should have stuck with his original instincts and nixed the dumb deal in the first months of his presidency.  It is not only dumb, but could set a dangerous precedent.  This process is way outside of the norm for international refugee movement.
And, if just one of these men (who have been incarcerated for at least 4 years) goes wrong, commits violence of some sort, it will be on the President!

Australia "dumb" deal update: Aussie Libs want US to take families

Let me say at the outset that the Australia deal struck by the Obama Administration in its waning months is dumber than dumb and Donald Trump should have followed his first instincts and cancelled the whole thing (as even the Australians suspected he would) and been done with it in February of 2017.
Here we see that Australian immigration official Peter Dutton is being blamed for not allowing an Afghan family (who attempted to break in to Australia illegally) that have been split between the mainland and offshore detention to apply to come to the US.

peter-dutton1
Dutton’s call to rethink the 1951 UN Refugee Convention has to make the No Borders agitators crazy!  Out to get him now for sure!*

Not one word in The Guardian story about whether the US has any say in this!

I believe the US State Department has already said that we aren’t taking extended families of the detainees (so far 220 of Australia’s rejects, mostly Muslim men, have been airlifted to Your Town, USA!).
For new readers, Australia had such an awful problem with boat people attempting to break in to their country that they made a new policy.  Anyone breaking in would be detained in offshore detention facilities and would never be admitted to the mainland.  That was about 5 years ago and they are sticking to the policy.  However! Lefties in Australia have been beating up the government ever since, so they found a way to wiggle out—thanks to Obama—by sending those they won’t grant refugee status to to America!
The Guardian:

Dutton urged to allow refugee families in Australia to apply for US resettlement

Split up refugee families stuck in limbo because of Australian government policy could be reunited if Peter Dutton let them apply for US resettlement from Australia, the opposition has said.

The comment follows revelations by Guardian Australia that a family of four had been split between Nauru and Australia since 2014.

Shayne Neumann
Leftwing “shadow minister” Shayne Neumann blames Dutton for not allowing sick Shiite Muslim family to reunite and apply for US resettlement.  Hey! Neumann, why should the US take on Australia’s migration problems!

Australian Border Force has told the 27-year-old daughter on Nauru that they could be reunited but only if her mother and sister returned to the island. The mother is in Australia confined to a wheelchair and awaiting surgery, and doctors have said she cannot go back.

While the mother and one daughter are in Australia they cannot apply for resettlement in the US, offered under a deal struck between the Australian government and the Obama administration. More than 220 have been resettled, out of a promise of “up to 1,200”.

By the way, something must have slowed the flow to the US.  Last report was over a month ago. Wonder what that is all about!

“Labor strongly supports the US refugee resettlement agreement and wants all eligible refugees – including those in Australia for medical treatment – to have the opportunity to apply for resettlement in the US,” the shadow minister for immigration, Shayne Neumann, said.

“The long-term issue of asylum seekers from Manus Island and Nauru in Australia could have been avoided entirely if Peter Dutton simply allowed eligible refugees in Australia the opportunity to apply to resettle in the United States.”

Nuts!  No offense to Dutton, but the US gets some say in this!

Asylum shopping!
Follow links back and see that this family with its health issues (including mental health issues) would be a huge burden on US taxpayers!  Legitimate refugees are to ask for asylum in the first safe country they enter, however, the whole system has been perverted and that is why the 1951 UN Refugee Convention should be trashed.

Australian Home Minister: Time to rethink 1951 UN Refugee Convention

Whoa! Now that would shake up the No Borders International Left for sure!
Peter Dutton is talking about the 1951 Refugee Convention that is under the control of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Trump at UN 2
Yes! Let’s push for an end to the UN Convention. Each country should make its own immigration policy!

He has a point!
Resettlement is not possible for the millions of migrants moving around the world, so why not create a better system to care for them where they are!
In fact, President Donald Trump told the United Nations this very thing on September 19, 2017 (see here).
But, the time is now and that means we should be on the offense and question the very underpinning of a system that is dangerously flawed, erodes national sovereignty, and is costly!
From The Guardian:

The home affairs minister, Peter Dutton, says “like-minded” countries [like the US!—ed] should come together to review the relevance of the 1951 United Nations refugee convention, arguing the document is outdated and does not account for the modern movement of people.

peter-dutton1
Peter Dutton:  Is the 1951 Refugee Convention relevant today?

In a wide-ranging interview with Guardian Australia conducted on Tuesday, Dutton flagged a reluctance to allow the elderly family members of immigrants to come to Australia, and a desire to incentivise new arrivals to move to regional communities. He also reaffirmed the country’s commitment to a nondiscriminatory immigration policy.

Dutton said he agreed with statements made by the British prime minister, Theresa May, and others suggesting the UN convention relating to the status of refugees could be modernised “or at least an update of the way in which the convention works and what it provides for”.

He said countries’ efforts to resettle refugees were “token” given the numbers of displaced people, and argued offering support to refugee camps would be more effective than resettling a small portion of the refugee population.

Continue reading here.  See that he backtracked on earlier remarks about saving white South Africans.
Contact the White House!

Tell the President to go on the offense and push for dumping the 1951 UN Refugee Convention.

If nothing else, a debate on the issue would be extremely useful and might even force our do-nothing Congress to reevaluate the Refugee Act of 1980—a law that has over time allowed the UN to call the shots on who comes to the US as refugees.

Australia to limit refugees from South Sudan, Somalia and Iran

The new limit will apply to privately sponsored refugees.
It isn’t the limitation that got me interested, it is their private sponsor program that began in 2013.  Private groups can pay in a big chunk of cash to care for a refugee or a refugee family for a year.  Every one of those privately sponsored means one less refugee the government will sponsor.  Very interesting!

Somalis arrive aussie
By 2013 tens of thousands of illegal aliens seeking asylum had arrived by boat in Australia. People traffickers in Africa were directing them to a wide open border. At that point the clamp down began which saw thousands housed in offshore detention facilities.

Here is the news from The Guardian yesterday, story titled:

South Sudan, Somalia and Iran excluded from one of Australia’s refugee programs

Humanitarian migrants from eight countries will be prioritised under one of Australia’s refugee resettlement programs, with other nationalities told their applications are highly unlikely to be accepted.

The Guardian understands the priority countries are: the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Bhutan, Syria and Iraq. Nationals of several other specific countries that were previously considered for resettlement, such as South Sudan, Somalia and Iran, are now excluded and will not be able to access the program. The move has been condemned by some community leaders as “clear discrimination”.  [Keep reading because the restriction is only for a tiny portion of their refugee flow—-ed]

The resettlement scheme, known as the Community Support Program, is one element of Australia’s broader humanitarian program, which, this year, offers up to 1,000 places, taken from within the broader program of 16,250 places. [1,000 places are up for grabs, but how many are actually sponsored this way when you see the price tag below!—-ed]

[….]

It allows community groups, businesses, families or individuals to sponsor and support a refugee to come to Australia. But each privately sponsored place reduces by one the government’s resettlement commitment.

The program was previously the Community Proposal Pilot, started in 2013.

[….]

The Community Support Program is based loosely on Canada’s private sponsorship program.

Since the late 1970s, more than 280,000 have been resettled in Canada by private sponsors, who commit the equivalent of one year of social security – about $30,000 – in cash or by in-kind commitment of housing, clothing, furniture and food, to assist a refugee family of five to settle into the country. [This in-kind stuff can be a sham as they get a bunch of junky furniture and claim it has a higher value.—ed]

Now get this!  With one-year support expected to cost $100,000 for a family of five, the government is basically telegraphing the cost of just one third-world family. Yikes! And, frankly what is the incentive for a private group to do this?

Australia’s scheme is much more expensive – to sponsor an individual refugee costs about $48,000, a family of five about $100,000 – and, for every humanitarian migrant privately sponsored, the government resettles one fewer under its program.

Of course the Open Borders Lefties in Australia are complaining because they obviously want the Australian tax payer to bear the burden!

This “offset” has led to criticism of the scheme as the government abrogating its commitment to resettle refugees, instead outsourcing resettlement to private individuals or community groups.

More here.
The Cato Institute was pushing such a program at one point, but frankly it was just to add more refugees to your towns and cities (for globalist labor needs), not to reduce the government-sponsored flow.

Trump and Turnbull
Trump and Aussie PM Turnbull discuss dumb deal!

Surprise!

Asylum seekers held in offshore detention have mental health issues.

I sure hope none of those the Trump State Department is admitting are among those mentally impaired (like the Youtube shooter).
From UN News:

Australia-bound asylum seekers left mentally scarred by years of detention on Pacific islands, warns UN refugee official

Under a deal agreed between Australia and the United States, some 1,000 detainees from Nauru will be repatriated to the US. Around 180 have already left the island.

Read it all here.
I wonder what is holding up the arrival of more refugees under the Obama/Trump “dumb” refugee swap deal.  See Australia deal archive here.

Australia might save some of the white South Africans

Saying they deserve a place in a “civilized” country, Home Affairs Secretary, Peter Dutton, said the Australian government is looking for ways using humanitarian/refugee avenues to move some of the hardworking South African whites out of the increasingly violent racist ‘Rainbow’ Nation—South Africa.
If you are new to the story, see my previous post here about a petition (19,000 have signed so far) to bring some to the United States.
From The Guardian:

Australia considers fast-track visas for white South African farmers

White South African farmers “deserve special attention” from Australia due to the “horrific circumstances” of land seizures and violence, Peter Dutton has said.

The home affairs minister told the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday his department was examining a range of methods to fast-track their path to Australia on humanitarian or other visa programs.

South Africa’s new president, Cyril Ramaphosa, is pursuing a policy of appropriating farm lands without compensation for redistribution to black South Africans.

Free speech! South African style….

The policy has led to reports, including in the Australian media, that white farmers are being murdered at a rate of more than one per week.

“If you look at the footage and read the stories, you hear the accounts, it’s a horrific circumstance they face,” Dutton said.

The home affairs minister noted Australia has refugee, humanitarian and other visa programs which have the “potential to help some of these people”. He said he had asked his department to look at the options “because from what I have seen they do need help from a civilised country like ours”.

“The people we’re talking about want to work hard, they want to contribute to a country like Australia,” Dutton said.

“We want people who want to come here, abide by our laws, integrate into our society, work hard, not lead a life on welfare. And I think these people deserve special attention and we’re certainly applying that special attention now.” [They definitely do not want those Muslim illegal aliens that the Trump Administration is taking off Australia’s hands, however.—-ed]

I have many posts on South Africa over the years about how the Marxist country has become increasingly xenophobic and racist with South African blacks working toward a nation for only their own people Click here for my South Africa archive.
It is astounding to me that we take hundreds of black Africans—mostly Somalis—as refugees from South Africa, but not the whites.
That may change as a movement is growing to pressure the Trump Administration to include white South Africans in the 19,000 refugees we are expected to take from the continent this fiscal year.
Did you know that refugee contractor Church World Service is working with the UN and the US State Department in Johannesburg to move Africans of all stripes that South Africa doesn’t want (so far not the white ones!) to Your Town, USA?  I wonder if whites are showing up there to apply for refugee status?
