When I told you about Gallup’s recent survey of countries that are the least and most accepting of migrants yesterday, I noticed this survey I missed in June.
The present US population is about 325 million.
So you can see that 147 million wannabe migrants is huge.
The next time you debate with a NO Borders activistask them if they would draw the line at some number or whether they are supportive of 147 million people arriving here as soon as they could buy a plane ticket.
Ask them what that would do to jobs, housing, schools, food security, medical care, open space/parks, etc.
Nearly 150 million people — or 4% of the world’s adult population — would move to the U.S. if they could. That figure is larger than the next four most popular destinations combined. If everyone who wanted to move to the U.S. had their way, the country’s total population would increase by almost 50%.
So they want to move to a racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, gun-loving, Trump-leading country? Hmmmm!
Here are the top ten most desirable destinations. Notice that Sweden and other Scandinavian socialist countries do not make the top ten.
Much to my surprise, five African countries are in the top ten “accepting of migrants” countries in the world.
Five African countries are in the top ten most accepting of migrants.
So why is the US responsible for taking tens of thousands of so-called refugees from Africa every year? Can’t they stay in welcoming parts of the continent?
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Many countries on the front lines of the recent migrant crisis in Europe are among the least-accepting countries in the world for migrants, according to Gallup’s new Migrant Acceptance Index. Nine of the 10 countries that score a 2.39 or lower (out of a possible 9.0) on the index are former Soviet bloc countries — with most located along the Balkan route that once channeled asylum seekers from Greece to Germany. Israel, which has dealt with its own influx of asylum seekers from Africa in the past decade, is the only non-European country with scores this low.
Notice that the US is number 18 on the list for welcoming migrants putting us above Germany and all of Europe on Gallup’s “Migrant Acceptance Index.”
Here (below) are the top ten “least” and “most” accepting.
The full list is below in Gallup’s news story. While the US is 18th (most accepting). European countries that have been overrun are increasingly less accepting–Germany is 23rd, the UK is 38, Italy 43, France 46, Belgium and Greece below that.
I have to laugh because both Iceland and New Zealand take only tiny numbers of refugees so of course they haven’t experienced the ‘joy’ that some countries, especially in most of Europe, have had yet.
On the “least” accepting side, numbers 12 and 13 are Pakistan and Afghanistan. You will see that the Middle East generally is the “least” accepting region of the world and the Muslim parts of North Africa are near the bottom too (when Gallup lists by region).
Go here for more, I’m sure you will find some juicy bits of information (for use now or to save for later).

Northern Maine Community College and Maine Community Foundation are partnering to bring Somali immigrants to Aroostook County to explore agricultural opportunities.
Officials from the college and foundation were joined Saturday by 45 Somali immigrants, including children, from southern Maine on a tour of farm operations in Aroostook County held on Saturday.
NMCC Pres. Timothy Crowley
The purpose of the tour is to introduce the Somalis to smaller-scale agricultural prospects in the region.
This effort stems from ideas germinated at a March 2016 conference at the college in which local business and civic leaders spoke about being more proactive in the face of a continuing decline in Aroostook County’s work force.
In his zeal to show what a caring humanitarian he is, the boy prime minister of Canada literally airlifted tens of thousands of Syrians to Canada in the year after being elected.
His reckless impulse is now resulting in story after story about how the Syrians are not faring well.
More than a year after arriving on Canadian soil, thousands of Syrian refugees are still struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families.
Alberta welcomed nearly over 5,100 refugees between Nov. 26, 2015 and March 2017, with 2,100 settling in Edmonton.
A report prepared by city staff and presented to the community and public services committee Monday shows the biggest challenges are in health, housing and employment. [So what else is there besides those three biggies?—ed]
“It’s just the demand is so high,” Ricki Justice, with the Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, told the committee.
Justice said refugees dealing with complex trauma from the Syrian war are having a tough time accessing psychological services.
“Six-week wait times to see a counsellor,” she said.
Catholic Social Services, a group responsible for settling the government-assisted refugees in Alberta, has held a series of forums since the first refugees arrived last year. In May 2017, it compiled the information delivered in the report.
Lots of children per family—demography will be the death of Canada (after Europe):
The province came out with an affordable housing strategy earlier in the summer and Huque hopes some of it will address the need for larger units for bigger families.
“I don’t think it was expected the sizes of some of these families,” he said. “Six, seven, eight people are just not going to fit into a two- or three-bedroom unit.”
He said moving to a bigger place is beyond many refugees’ means. They end up relying on food banks and other charities.
“Then a person ran towards us shouting ‘He has a knife’, and everybody from the terrace ran inside. Next, a woman came in to the cafe. She was crying hysterically, down on her knees, saying someone’s neck has been slashed open.”

Surely you know what happened in Finland on the heals of Barcelona, but here from Reuterswe get more facts on the killer and the poor innocent women who were sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Over the years we have written a few posts on Finland, but it isn’t as easily accessible (or slovenly welcoming) as other Scandinavian countries like Sweden and Norway.
This Reuters story is surprisingly unrestrained and relatively free of whitewash (or is that because those quoted weren’t pulling punches and speaking in politically correct terms?):
HELSINKI/TURKU, Finland (Reuters) – Finnish police said on Saturday that an 18-year-old Moroccan man, arrested after a knife rampage that killed two people and wounded eight, appeared to have targeted women and that the spree was being treated as the country’s first terrorism-related attack.

The suspect arrested following the attack on Friday after being shot in the leg by police in the city of Turku had arrived in Finland last year, police said. They said they later arrested four other Moroccan men over possible links to him and had issued an international arrest warrant for a sixth Moroccan national.
Finnish broadcaster MTV, citing an unnamed source, said the main suspect had been denied asylum in Finland. The police said only that he had been “part of the asylum process”.
The case marks the first suspected terror attack in Finland, where violent crime is relatively rare.
“The suspect’s profile is similar to that of several other recent radical Islamist terror attacks that have taken place in Europe,” Director Antti Pelttari from the Finnish Security Intelligence Service told a news conference.

Both of those killed in the Turku attack, and six of the eight who were wounded, were women, the police said. The two who died were Finns, and an Italian and two Swedish citizens were among the injured.
Ville Tavio (Finns party): Asylum system is primary means of entry for terrorists.
“It seems that the suspect chose women as his targets, because the men who were wounded were injured when they tried to help, or prevent the attacks,” said Crista Granroth from the National Bureau of Investigation.
“The act was cowardly … we have been afraid of this and we have prepared for this. We are not an island anymore, the whole of Europe is affected,” Prime Minister Juha Sipila said. [Well, maybe not Poland and Hungary that have closed their borders to Muslim migration!—ed]

Some members of the nationalist Finns party, which was kicked out of the government in June for their new hard-line anti-immigration leadership, blamed the government for what they said was too loose an immigration policy.
“The asylum system is the primary road for illegal immigration, used also by the terrorists.Harmful immigration can be controlled only by reducing Finland’s attractiveness, or by border controls,” said Finns party lawmaker Ville Tavio.
What is asylum? (As opposed to refugee resettlement)
In the refugee resettlement process, wannabe refugees must prove they are persecuted, the UN screens them (supposedly!) and a country accepts them and flies them in.
For asylum, the wannabe refugee makes his or her way to a ‘safe’ country and then applies for asylum (or often called political asylum). They are supposed to make a case that they would be persecuted if returned home. Europe is dealing with mostly asylum seekers (many are phony and are really economic migrants) who are basically loose in the country until their cases can be processed.
And, are often loose because they have been rejected and no one has made them leave!
So, it is a misnomer when you hear the Left and political leaders refer to asylum seekers as refugees. They are not legitimate refugees until their cases have been processed and the governmental body responsible has granted them asylum.
