Rand Paul: Why are we bringing in all these refugees (Iraqis in particular) and putting them on welfare?

I know you are saying that isn’t the Senator Rand Paul you know now, but it was the Senator Paul in the wake of the discovery of Iraqi refugee terrorists found in his home town and convicted in Kentucky just a few years ago.

As a matter of fact, I was thrilled!  He was the first sitting US Senator I had ever heard speak publicly and critically about the Refugee Resettlement Program of the UN/US State Department.

Norquist and Paul
Did Grover Norquist get to Rand and tell him to shut up about Iraqi refugees in addition to supporting amnesty?

Here is our complete archive in which we mention Paul’s statements on refugees.  Please note that his home town of Bowling Green is completely swamped with refugees and we have a lengthy archive on problems there as well.

Here is what we said in 2013 when the Senator was roundly criticized by a Leftwing immigration reporter at the HuffPo.  This is what Huffington Post reporter, Elise Foley, quotes Paul saying:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said on Wednesday that the U.S. should be skeptical of accepting refugees, from Iraq in particular, because they take welfare and could plan attacks on American soil.

[….]

“It’s one thing to have a big heart and invite people to our country, and if you do it in a small fashion, the churches and the people take care of them, that’s one thing. But like in my town in particular, they bring ’em in and there is someone whose job and expertise is to sign them up for welfare as soon as they get here.”

There is more and links to other information on Paul.

So what happened to that Rand Paul?

Grover was a promoter of Iraqi refugees!

When we began writing RRW in 2007, one of our first stunning revelations was that Republican guru Grover Norquist was running around Washington lobbying for the US to bring in the Iraqis.   120,000 plus Iraqi refugees later, they are coming in at a rate of 20,000 a year (approximately 68% of them are Muslims split fairly evenly between Shiites and Sunnis).

They are receiving a boatload of welfare (see beginning on page 107 of the latest ORR Annual Report to Congress) higher than many other refugee ethnic groups.  So Senator Paul was right about that—we bring’em in and sign’em up for welfare!

For new readers, our complete Grover Norquist archive is here.

If you happen to see Paul on the campaign trail, ask him why he dropped his earlier criticism of the refugee resettlement program which is changing American towns and cities under the direction of the United Nations and Obama’s State Department.

Detroit: Despite high unemployment, Lutherans and feds still pouring refugees into the area

This starts out as the usual feel-good fluffy-puffy story about a happy Iraqi refugee landing in Detroit, Michigan, but there are some very interesting nuggets of information that appear mid-story.

From the National Journal:

Detroit’s suburbs have absorbed tens of thousands of Iraqi refugees in recent years after violence erupted in the wake of the war. The established Arab community in Detroit has made it the top destination for Iraqi refugees—and that, in turn, has made Michigan one of the states receiving the largest influx of refugees.

Protestors in Dearborn: A large number of Dearborn’s Muslims are on US Terror Watch List. From Jihad Watch http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/08/dearborn-residents-on-terrorist-watch-list-second-only-to-new-york

From 2010 to 2014, Michigan saw a 38 percent increase in the number of refugees moving to the state, according to data from the Health and Human Services Department. The vast majority are fleeing Iraq, where they faced violence and retaliation for working with U.S. troops during the war, like Al Saady, or because they belong to a religious minority. The number of Iraqi refugees arriving in Michigan nearly doubled in the last four years, with 2,751 arriving in 2014.

The growing number of refugees exacerbated the economic strain on Detroit communities as it struggled during the Great Recession. Refugees had trouble finding work, and staff was stretched thin at the social service agencies that help families resettle in the area. In 2008, the State Department started limiting Iraqi resettlement to Detroit to those who had immediate family members there. But many of those Iraqi refugees who have been resettled elsewhere in the years since still end up moving to Detroit anyway, says Mihaela Mitrofan, refugee-resettlement program manager for Lutheran Social Services of Michigan.  [Readers, it is called “secondary migration” in resettlement industry lingo. The Iraqis want to live with their own kind, as do the Somalis that flock to Minnesota, but God forbid you want to live with people you are culturally comfortable with!—ed]

“With everything that’s happening with ISIS, we anticipate another wave of refugees from Iraq and also Syria,” says Mitrofan.

Since the middle of 2007, Lutheran Social Services has resettled more than 8,000 Iraqi refugees in the Detroit area. Christian Iraqis are usually integrated into the large Chaldean community in the northern Detroit suburb of Sterling Heights. Chaldeans are a Catholic minority group in Iraq.  [Christians are only about 22-25% of the Iraqis we resettle.—ed]

Muslim Iraqis, like Al Saady, are usually sent to Dearborn, a suburb just southwest of Detroit that has provided a home for Arab-Americans of Lebanese, Palestinian, Yemeni, and other backgrounds for nearly 100 years. Lutheran Social Services runs a small office on the city’s main drag, above a hookah bar and across the street from a halal grocery store.

Getting them their welfare goodies as per the Obama colonizing plan!

One LSS staff member, Arjwan Khadoori, helped 13 Iraqis resettle in Dearborn this past January. Khadoori tracked down housing, took them to buy groceries, and guided them through the process of registering for Social Security cards, Medicaid, driver’s licenses, and food stamps. Each person also receives $925 in federal cash assistance to help tide them over until they find work.

Another staff member, Jawhar Altahesh, persuades employers to hire the refugees. This can be tough, he says, especially in an area with such high unemployment. Sometimes employers will accuse him of taking away jobs from Americans. Even Arab-American Muslims might not want to hire women or Shiite Muslims.  [By the way, we are bringing an almost equal number of Sunnis and Shiites out of Iraq.—ed]

“I tell them that’s against the law,” says Altahesh, “but it doesn’t matter.”

From November through January, the Dearborn office helped find full-time jobs for 30 of 50 refugees seeking employment in Wayne County.

Michigan received the 4th highest number of refugees in FY2014, here.

Newly resettled Iraqi refugee shot and killed in Dallas; was it a random killing by thugs, or something more?

We will have to wait and see how the investigation unfolds, but my guess is that it will be a random shooting in a mixed neighborhood (the kind of neighborhood the federal refugee contractors always choose because of the cheap housing).  Or, do refugee contractors just think they can mix up all the different ethnic groups they bring in, drop them in low-income and minority neighborhoods and presto! multicultural nirvana will be found?

Ahmed al-Jumaili, 36, shot in apartment complex parking lot last Wednesday.

From the New York Daily News:

An Iraqi refugee who moved to Texas be in a “safer place” with his wife three weeks ago was fatally shot while watching his first snowfall Wednesday.

Ahmed al-Jumaili, 36, his wife and his brother were taking pictures of the snow outside their Dallas apartment complex when a group of men shot him at about 11:40 p.m., police said.

Al-Jumaili ran back to his apartment and later died at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, according to the Dallas Morning News. His relatives were not injured.

“Just like all of us, a pretty snowfall brings the child out in us,” Dallas police Maj. Jeff Cotner said. “You can just imagine the excitement between his wife and his brother and himself as they were enjoying the snowfall.”

Al-Jumaili and his wife, Zahara, married 16 months ago in Iraq, according to a fundraising page. She “made the painful and difficult decision to leave her husband in Iraq and come to, what she believed, to be a safer place.”

They reunited in Dallas 20 days ago after Al-Jumaili earned enough money to join her.

[….]

The surrounding Muslim community is demanding to know whether the shooting was a hate crime, Salem, the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the Dallas and Fort Worth area, told CNN.

Readers, send us a link if you see more news on who did it.

For reporters who might be interested in tracking down more on Al-Jumaili and the Iraqis being placed apparently in bad neighborhoods, go to this Handy State Department list of contractors.  Looks like 4 of the 9 major contractors have subcontractors that are falling all over each other to plant refugee seedlings in “welcoming” Dallas:  Church World Service, International Rescue Committee, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.

By the way, if you didn’t know, Texas is the top refugee resettlement state in the nation.   Over 100,000 Iraqis, most of them Muslims, have been admitted to the US since the beginning of the Obama Administration.

Media shock over Obama plan to bring in a couple of thousand Syrian refugees growing

Melanie Nezer: We want the US to admit 75,000 Syrians over 5 years!

This is just a quick commentary.

My alerts are filled with news stories about revelations last week and the week before that the Obama Administration is planning on bringing Syrian Muslim refugees to the US this year and in future years and everyone is shocked at the number being discussed—2,000.

Don’t get me wrong, I am glad the media is now paying attention.

But, remember, up until December of last year the State Department was predicting that they would bring in 9,000-10,000 this year. (See our Syrian refugees archive by clicking here)

Remember also that it is the refugee resettlement contractors*** and the UN lobbying us to bring in 15,000 a year!  See one of many stories on the subject here as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society leads the charge.  Not to appear to be picking on HIAS—the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Lutherans testified in Congress last year that they wanted the US to take 12,000-15,000 Syrians a year starting last year!

And, finally, why isn’t the same media paying attention to the fact that we brought in 20,000 Iraqis (three quarters are Muslim Iraqis) last year alone and 9,000 Somalis last year alone?

Come on media!  Where have you been?

***Update*** Here is one more of many stories on the media figuring out that the Syrians are coming!

***The federal refugee resettlement contractors:

Syrian and Iraqi “refugees” trafficked through Brazil destined for Europe

We have been writing ad nauseum about the ‘Invasion of Europe’ via primarily the Mediterranean Sea, and now thankfully so is much of the mainstream media.  Thanks to all who sent this story — ISIS wants to flood Europe with 500,000 through North Africa to Italy.

However, here is a new angle on the invasion:

Traffickers moving Syrians and Iraqis through Brazil to Europe!

From Folha de S. Paulo:

The Federal Police is investigating a people trafficking route through Brazil for Syrians and Iraqis fleeing war and persecution in their home countries.

The refugees, who use false passports, are trying to arrive in Europe. Part of them are fleeing the war in Syria. The other, persecution at the hands of the militant group Islamic State (Isis).

The suspicion is that some of the false documents are being produced in Rio, and there are concerns that federal police officers may be involved in the scheme.

Officially, the Federal Police says it is investigating “the possibility that there may be some kind of logistical support to people traffickers in Brazil.”

The police say that at least 60 people used or attempted to use false passports – most of which were Israeli – to leave the country in recent months.

Look at this complicated route at right!

Apparently the two countries facilitating travel to Brazil are the UAE and Turkey!

Notice that one route takes them through Brazil to Uruguay and then back to Brazil!

Legitimate refugees are not going to have the resources or the savvy to pull something like this off.

And, what is to stop them from heading to the wide-open US southern border?

For our ‘Invasion of Europe’ series go here.  And, we have just made a new category ‘South America’ as we are increasingly seeing ‘refugee’ news from there.
