Comment worth noting: Stay in your home country and clean it up!

Don’t bring your failed methods of governance to America!

This is a comment from reader Tess in response to our post yesterday announcing that the US Senate will hold hearings on refugee terror screening in July, here.

Tess:

I applaud Rand Paul but want to know why all these Middle Eastern Islamists were ever allowed to enter and settle here when their beliefs are to overtake and install their version of law? We are at war with them but cannot seem to grasp who and what we’re fighting. Bush called it a “religion of peace” – a BAD misnomer if there ever was one. Until we get realistic about this ideology, like we once were about communism, it will slip and slide through our gates and we will have chaos like that presently in England. In fact, all of Europe has been disrupted. If these people had stayed in their countries of origin and worked as hard as the Israelis, they too would have better standards of living. That should have been obvious; they have a country, why not stay there and clean it up? Instead they want to come to America and once here install their failed methods of living and impose it on us.

You got that right!  And, to think we spent billions of dollars and precious American lives to give them a free country and we are rewarded by the US State Department hauling Iraqi MUSLIMS into the US by the thousands each year.

Write to them!  Here are the members of the US Senate Homeland Security Committee.  You should all take a few minutes and write to them in advance of the July 13th hearing and let them know what you think!

Senator Rand Paul to get July Senate hearing on refugee terror screening

From the Bowling Green Daily news in the aftermath of Iraqi alleged terrorist arrests in Kentucky:

The office of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., announced Thursday that Paul has secured a hearing through the Senate’s Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee to address concerns about visas and political asylum following the arrest of two Iraqi refugees on terrorism charges last month in Bowling Green.

The hearing, scheduled for July 13, will include state and Department of Homeland Security officials.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. agreed to assist in scheduling the hearings, which will investigate procedures and safeguards for both visas and political asylum.

[RRW attended similar hearings before these same two Senators in March 2009 on possible Somali terrorists in the US and the hearings were frankly so Politically Correct to be meaningless.]

We gave them employment, homes and health care….

Waad Ramadan Alwan, 30, and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, 23, were arrested May 25 in Bowling Green. A federal grand jury returned a 23-count indictment against the men May 26.

Both entered the country legally as Iraqi refugees, receiving publicly funded housing assistance and health care.

Paul:  Was someone asleep at the switch?

“So my question is, ‘Was someone asleep at the switch here?’ ” Paul said earlier this month about the men successfully gaining refugee status.

“Is it happening because we’re spending time searching millions of innocent Americans and wasting time on that and not doing a thorough job on those who are coming from these Middle Eastern countries, who I think need to be thoroughly vetted before they enter our country?” Paul asked.

At the news conference earlier this month, Paul also called into question the student visa program [it’s about time someone did!—ed] and questioned if lawmakers should declare a moratorium on student visas to make sure that the people obtaining them are thoroughly vetted before entering the country.

“Without a screening process for potential visa and refugees entering the United States, we put our country in grave danger,” Paul said in a statement Thursday. “The role of the federal government in the war on terror must include the ability to secure our borders and keep out those who wish to do us harm. I look forward to participating in these upcoming hearings.”

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul calls for hearings on refugee security screening

In response to the Iraqi refugee terror bust in his state, Senator Paul is calling for hearings on Iraqi immigration.  All I can say is, IT IS ABOUT TIME!

From AP:

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is calling for Senate hearings to get answers on how two Iraqi refugees were granted asylum to live in the United States.

Paul made the call for hearings Friday during a press conference in Bowling Green, where the two were arrested last week after an FBI investigation.

Paul is too new in the Senate to be in too deep with the industries that push for refugee labor (like the meatpackers)—the new slavery— but I wonder about Senator Mitch McConnell who has apparently never lifted a finger to question the huge flow of refugees into Kentucky even when a concerned citizen brought to his office’s attention in 2009 the deplorable conditions in which refugees live in Bowling Green, here.

Krikorian: Why take any Iraqi refugees at all?

That is the question the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, Mark Krikorian, asked in a piece on the Kentucky Iraqi alleged terrorist arrest yesterday.  As Iraq becomes safer, we take more and more refugees!  Does that make sense?

The bigger question is why are we taking refugees from Iraq at all? Resettlement to the United States should be used only as the absolute last resort for people who will surely be killed if they stay where they are and who have nowhere else — nowhere whatsoever — to go. There are lots of Arab countries where Iraqis have been going for some time, notably Syria and Jordan, and Saudi Arabia’s a big, empty place right next door. The State Department sort of followed that policy for the first few years of our Mesopotamian adventure, with fewer that 200 Iraqi refugees admitted in FY 2006 and about 1,600 in FY 2007. But the following year the number ballooned to nearly 14,000, and it’s been more than 18,000 for each of the past two years. So, as things have gotten less dangerous in Iraq, we’ve begun importing more refugees.

Just a reminder!  There is the war model we learned about when a 1999 National War College report was declassified. It’s analogous to never letting a good crisis go to waste.  Never let a good war go to waste—use it to bring more immigrants to America while getting paid for it!

The Volokh Conspiracy wants answers!

So do we all!

Update June 2nd:  AP has more on the fingerprint screw-up, here.

The Volokh Conspiracy is a blog comprised of mostly law professors and they are asking some very good questions about how the Iraqi refugees accused of terrorism in Kentucky managed to slip through the cracks.   Read our two posts this morning here and here first.

Questions about Iraqi arrests and domestic terrorism:

The most important is: What went wrong in the vetting of these two refugee applicants? Were there clues in the terrorist-refugees’ background that we failed to pick up on? Did they use forged documents to win refugee status? Were they aided by Iraqi terror groups to enter the United States? And why did the DHS fingerprint program fail? The FBI was able to match one refugee’s latent fingerprints to DOD’s records from a 2005 IED bombing, but it did that in 2011, as part of a criminal investigation. Why didn’t DHS find the same latent fingerprints in 2009, before it admitted the terrorist-refugee? Did DOD withhold the prints from DHS on “privacy” and other legal grounds? Or did the matching process simply fail for technical reasons? Has the Iraq refugee program been suspended or revised in light of the ability of terrorists to scam it?

And here I was very glad (not in the sense of happy!) to see the testimony of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops on May 12th (linked in here) in which they are asking for more Iraqis (and Rohingyas too) to be resettled!   We have a whole category (with 97 posts!) on Burmese Muslims known as Rohingyas which we initially refused to resettle because of possible terror links, but it sure looks like the US State Department has the door wide open now and the Bishops are lobbying for more!

These are vital questions, because we continue to admit large numbers of Iraqis as refugees (the Conference of Catholic Bishops says this year’s target is another 18,000 Iraqi admissions to the US — a number that it thinks is too low but one that would increase the total number of Iraqi refugees in this country by 40%). And, as the LA Times notes, “FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III told a House hearing in February that he had information that Al Qaeda in Iraq may have used the [US refugee program’s] weaknesses to send operatives to the U.S.” What are we doing to fix those weaknesses? And if we can’t fix them, why are we continuing to make a priority of Iraqi refugee admissions?

Enterprising reporters could start with asking those questions of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) one of the leading contractors pushing the Iraqi refugee resettlement.  Apparently the IRC latched onto a model described in a declassified 1999 National War College Report on the Bosnian War using the war as an excuse to get more supposed “refugees” into the US.   In 1999 their cash flow was running low so they needed more bodies to resettle (your tax dollars pay the contractors by the head to resettle refugees).

Oh, and one more hint for enterprising reporters (if you are out there!), ask Samantha Power in the White House.  Obama made her Iraqi refugee czar when he took office!

I almost forgot, in 2009 John Podesta’s Center for American Progress was telling Obama to airlift 100,000 Iraqis to the US, here.   It’s the same old George Soros groupies!
