Business publication beats up on Israel (again) over refugees

….and reveals more about UN/Obama Administration plans for thousands of Syrians to arrive in the US soon!

Our “refugee” alerts are full and overflowing with Syrian news.  Here is an article from the Business Insider which shows which countries are taking Syrian refugees (something we have reported many times).

But, what caught my eye was the criticism toward Israel for not taking in Syrians.

Readers, Israel is one of only a few countries in the world trying to save itself from being overwhelmed by the third world on the move.  Everyone in their right mind can see that Israel would be committing suicide if it opened its tiny country to the mostly Muslim migrants on the move around the world.

Business Insider:

Israeli Intransigence

Israel, which shares its northern border with Syria, has steadfastly refused to receive refugees.

Yuval Ben-Ami, an Israeli journalist and author based in Jaffa, told Business Insider, “at this point in its history, Israel seems determined to barricade itself, primarily of its immediate neighborhood.”

Ben-Ami says the idea of Israel accepting Syrian refugees is “extremely foreign” to Israelis, and that even refugee advocates speak little about the Syrian issue because it seems fruitless.

But near the end is another important part of this story. Once again we are being alerted to expect thousands of Syrians to arrive in the US soon.

We are going to be up there with Germany!  20,000?

While the United States is the largest donor to Syrian relief efforts, it has accepted only 63 Syrian refugees this year.

However, the UNHCR told Business Insider it expects the U.S. to rank up with Germany as one of the top two receivers of Syrians in 2015.

The U.N. said the U.S. accepted a request to load its resettlement intake toward the end of this year, with the organization already submitting 2,500 applications for consideration over the coming months.

Palestinians, the UN’s phoney refugees

http://freegazafromhamas.com/tag/unrwa/

Update August 22nd:  A new column by Solomon—the UN’s refugee welfare racket—here.

Update August 19th:  As Palestinian demonstrators take to the streets to protest an Israeli ship planning to dock at Oakland, we should be organizing a major campaign for the US to stop funding UNRWA.  And, of course, stop the migration of Palestinian trouble-makers to America!

We have written many times here at RRW about the ‘Palestinians’ as pawns, as the people doomed to be called ‘refugees’ from generation to generation perpetually cared for by a special agency (just for Palestinians!) known as UNRWA.

But, since those same ‘refugees’ have been in the news lately for building cross-border tunnels with money that came from your pocketbooks in order to more stealthily attack Israel, this article at the Financial Post is a good summary of what author Lawrence Solomon calls the “bizarro world” of UNRWA.

Solomon begins with this:

In the up-is-down bizarro world of UNRWA, the number of refugees only grows and grows

RIDDLE: You’re an American citizen, born and raised in the U.S., who has never set foot outside your country. You are also a refugee from a faraway land. What is the explanation?

HINT: Your parents and grandparents are also Americans, and they are also refugees.

ANOTHER HINT: Your children, born to you and your American spouse, are also refugees, and when they are old enough to have children of their own, their children will also be refugees.

This is not a trick question. Such refugees exist on this planet, not only in the U.S. but also in Canada and other countries. In fact, millions of refugees exist on this planet who have never set foot in the place from which they are deemed to have fled. But there’s only one place on this planet that these millions can have come from — Israel and the Palestinian territories — and there’s only one “people” on this planet who, for themselves and their children, can have this refugee status in perpetuity — Palestinians.

This bizarro alternate world is the creation of the United Nations, which established the United Nations Relief and Aid Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, or UNRWA for short.

Read it all.  One of the new things I learned was that Canada has already turned off its funding spigot to UNRWA. Why are we funding tunnels and rockets?  It is time for the US to follow Canada’s lead and do the same—cut them off!

Where is America’s Sense of Self-Preservation?

That is the title of a provocative piece at American Thinker brought to my attention by Judy this morning.

Migrants coming across US border in such high numbers now, Border agents cannot process them fast enough.

Author John Bennett begins with these opening paragraphs (below) and then proceeds to make his case about each country mentioned.

But, having followed issues relating to the ‘invasion of Europe, Israel and Australia’ over the last few years, I disagree with Mr. Bennett on one thing.

Here is how he begins (emphasis is mine):

Many Western nations are restricting immigration because of popular anger at the unwelcome changes brought about by mass immigration. America seems to be the rare country with the misfortune of having politicians who won’t stand up for citizens.

How many nations around the world have to be thrown into crisis and division for us to learn that mass immigration is not always [not always? NEVER!—ed] a positive? Israel, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Norway are just a few of the Western nations that energetically guard their territorial integrity, and some party leaders in those countries openly explain why they do so.

Read it all!

Here is where I disagree, in my opinion there are only two major first world countries that have (or more correctly are in the process of) “energetically” guarding their territorial integrity—Israel and Australia  which did not make Bennett’s list!

The other countries Bennett lists all have popular anti-mass immigration political movements and in fact some have political parties built on an anti-immigration platform which have had some electoral success, however, one could never say that the country itself (implying the government) has such a policy at all.   See our ‘invasion of Europe’ series and see what I mean.

But, I sure am not going to challenge Bennett’s primary question—where the hell is America’s sense of self-preservation!  Heck, we don’t even have a defined popular movement/leader let alone a political party or two that seems at all concerned about mass immigration and territorial integrity!    The Dems want open borders (more welfare recipients=more voters!) and the Republicans are chickens who look out for greedy businesses looking for cheap labor!

Muslim countries don’t want Syrian Palestinians

If Israel says it doesn’t want to welcome any more Palestinians, the world is outraged, but here we learn that Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey don’t want them either!   Why is it that these Muslim countries don’t like their fellow Muslims?

My message to Chris Gunness of the special UN agency JUST FOR PALESTINIANS—take them in yourself!  Gunness: Israel bad! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7835050.stm

From Naharnet News:

Lebanon has placed prohibitive restrictions on the entry of Palestinians fleeing Syria, making it almost impossible for them to take refuge in the small Mediterranean country.

New measures mean Palestinians fleeing Syria will not be given visas at the border, while those who are already in the country will not have their visas renewed.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page Thursday, Interior Minister Nuhad al-Mashnouq said no visas will be issued at the main Masnaa border crossing.

Palestinians living in Syria who wish to enter Lebanon must first request a visa at the Lebanese embassy in Damascus. The request will be processed by the Lebanese General Security agency.

[….]

Human rights activists say Palestinians in Syria, who once numbered 500,000, have been targeted by both sides in the conflict, making them one of the country’s most vulnerable groups.

[….]

Turkey and Jordan, which also host large numbers of refugees from Syria, have barred entry to Palestinians.

The U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) said Thursday that, “since 9 am no Palestine refugees from Syria have been allowed to cross into Lebanon”.

Agency spokesman Chris Gunness appealed to Lebanese authorities not to block those in need of sanctuary.

I’ll never forget, and never stop reminding readers, that in 2009 the UN High Commissioner for Refugees credited Islam and Shariah law for the historical admonition to welcome the stranger.

Who says a “refugee” has a right to a life in a first world country?

Hmmm!  Good question!  We’ve been so beaten over the head with this concept—refugees and asylum seekers ask for/demand entry into an advanced society—we assume somehow it’s the law.

Israel’s MK Michal Rosin : “Israel is responsible for the fate of the asylum seekers …”

Two countries are challenging the premise—Australia and Israel.

If the refugees and asylum seekers are looking only for an escape from persecution, why not let other smaller, less-developed countries give them a home?

Readers remember this—migration for economic reasons does not make one a refugee.

Here is Immigration Minister Scott Morrison in Australia on Monday. The Leftists must be screaming in Canberra!

From the Sydney Morning Herald:

In his strongest indication yet that he is looking to send refugees to Cambodia, Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has warned that the right to resettlement is not a ticket to a better life in a first world country.

His warning has followed recent visits by Mr Morrison and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop to Cambodia, and has fuelled speculation the Abbott government is in negotiations to send asylum seekers on Nauru who are found to be refugees, to the developing country.

Mr Morrison said resettlement was about sending people to places where they would be free from persecution.

“I just don’t buy into this argument that only first world countries are able to participate in resettlement,” he told Sky News.

And in Israel, the Leftists are spitting mad as they learn some African asylum seekers (from Israel) are going willingly to Rwanda.   By the way, we learned previously that they are going with money in their pockets which this article does not mention.

From Haaretz via EastAfro (Israel Slammed for Sending Asylum Seekers to Rwanda without Status, Rights):

The government is facing criticism after Haaretz discovered that African asylum seekers from Eritrea and Sudan who agree to leave Israel voluntarily are being sent to Rwanda and Uganda without the benefit of official documentation or any guarantees of basic rights.

Asylum seekers who have been sent to these African countries have said that they do not receive any support from any government upon arrival, and that no one is doing anything to look after them.

About 10 days ago, Interior Minister Gideon Sa’ar said 81 asylum seekers have voluntarily left Israel for African states. The government has refused to say which countries are taking in the asylum seekers or to disclose other details of its agreements with these states.

MK Michal Rosin (Meretz) will convene an extraordinary session of the Knesset Committee on Foreign Workers, which she chairs, to discuss the agreements.

This is worth watching!  The UN High Commissioner for Refugees must be having a heart attack over this idea!  But, why not spread the refugee burden to less-developed countries?

By the way, I expect both Cambodia and Rwanda are receiving generous foreign aid from Australia and Israel, so now they are getting something in return!
