Eric P. Schwartz and the One World Government gang (Part I)

We know that Mr. Schwartz is the Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration.  We most recently heard from him here the other day when he announced a doubling of the funds that will flow to refugee resettlement contractors.  But, what is his background?  After doing a little google search I realize I am going to have to tell you what I’ve learned in pieces because it’s way too much material for one post.

Regular readers know that my theory is that the refugee program and open borders immigration in general are about creating first a permanent leftwing voting base comprised of grateful immigrants, and then ultimately a one world government controlled by the United Nations—a goal of Progressives from their earliest days.   You can laugh, hoot and holler all you want, even call me tinfoil-hat as one commenter did,  but that is the only thing that makes any sense.  Otherwise why would sensible rational people be importing poverty and opening our borders to the third world?  Simple kindness?  Not a chance!

It isn’t kind or humane to bring in competition for poor Americans in the workplace.  It isn’t kind to disrupt longstanding American communities with insistence on that silly notion that  diversity is strength.  It isn’t humane to import thousands of refugees who will live in dangerous slums in US cities far from the culture they love and are comfortable with.  It isn’t kindness to encourage educated Iraqis to come here and scrub floors at night. It isn’t kindness to bring superior-acting Muslim Africans and drop them in poor black neighborhoods.  It isn’t kind to have special government loans for immigrants that are not available to low income Americans.  And, it isn’t right to take hard-earned money from taxpayers and give it to quasi-government groups to advance their political agendas.

This is political progressivism, plain and simple.  The Progressives hide behind a presumption of good intentions all the while creating crisis (Saul Alinsky) and bringing down our form of government (Cloward-Piven) to replace it with another one— a socialist global government.

So, here is one of the first pieces of evidence about Mr. Schwartz’s membership in the one-world government gang.  But, first you might want to review his profile on Who Runs Government, here.

Soros Flunky Runs Obama’s Pro-U.N. Policy, by Cliff Kincaid.

Mr. Kincaid heads the Washington, DC media watchdog group, Accuracy in Media.  Judy and I attended a conference they held in Washington, DC last fall.   We especially wanted to hear world famous blogger Trevor Loudon (New Zeal) that October day among other great speakers.

Kincaid on Schwartz from last January during the Obama transition:

In violation of Barack Obama’s promise to run an open and transparent transition to the next administration, an associate of convicted document thief Sandy Berger has been secretly meeting with far-left groups under the auspices of the Obama-Biden Transition Project to develop a range of pro-U.N. policies. These include placing “more [U.N.] blue helmets on U.S. troops” and forcing the U.S. to join the U.N.’s International Criminal Court (ICC).

The ICC is an international entity that could prosecute American citizens and soldiers for “war crimes” and other offenses, in violation of U.S. Constitutional protections.

The ICC treaty was signed by President Clinton, who expressed concern about some of its provisions, but under President Bush it was “unsigned” by U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton in what he called his “happiest moment” at the State Department.

In response to the possibility of the ICC prosecuting American soldiers, the Congress in 2002 passed the American Service members Protection Act, in order to protect U.S. soldiers from the jurisdiction of the court.

While Obama comes across in the media as a “moderate” or “centrist” in foreign policy, his Transition Project is developing an extreme pro-U.N. policy that is supposed to be implemented by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan E. Rice.

The Berger associate, Eric. P. Schwartz, is the executive director of the U.S. Connect Fund and represents several liberal and leftist foundations, including and most notably the Open Society Institute of financial hedge-fund operator George Soros. Soros is considered by some the virtual owner of the Democratic Party, having contributed lavishly to the party, its causes and candidates, including Obama. He personally contributed $50,000, the maximum allowed, to the Obama inauguration.

While Obama did not publicly endorse the International Criminal Court during the campaign, because “many questions remain unanswered about the ultimate scope of its activities,” Schwartz and his associates are clearly laying the groundwork for the Obama Administration’s acceptance of and membership in the ICC. Schwartz is perfectly suited for the task, having “initiated and managed the White House review that resulted in U.S. signature of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court” under Clinton, according to his own bio.

Other members of the secretive Obama group include Samantha Power, the Harvard academic and one of Obama’s closest foreign policy advisers who left the Obama presidential campaign temporarily after calling Hillary Clinton a “monster.” A self-described “humanitarian hawk,” Power believes in using the United Nations to confront “genocide” in the world, despite the corruption scandals involving U.N. peacekeepers in human rights violations and sexual child abuse.

Soros, who backed Obama during the presidential campaign, is a well-known advocate of a “New World Order” in which the U.S. refuses to act unilaterally in its own interests but works through international organizations such as the U.N. on foreign policy matters. Critics note that such an approach gives the U.N. and other nations a veto over what the U.S. can do militarily.

A convicted inside trader whose currency manipulations have been known to threaten national governments and currencies, he testified on November 13, 2008, before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform about the risks posed by the hedge funds that he and other billionaires operate. In addition to the Democratic Party, his financial fingerprints are all over leftist, “progressive” and news media organizations.

The Connect U.S. Fund is funded by Soros’s Open Society Institute and other liberal foundations and provides grants to pro-U.N. groups around the country. These groups, which provide the appearance of public support for more U.S. involvement in the U.N., were involved in a January 10 national conference call to promote a “Responsible U. S. Global Engagement” agenda for the Obama Administration. They are releasing a letter to Obama this week urging close cooperation with the U.N. on such issues as human rights, climate change, arms control and foreign aid.

This is bound to find a favorable response, since the co-chair of the Obama-Biden Transition Project, John Podesta, a former Clinton chief of staff, comes from another Soros-funded group, the Center for American Progress. [Remember I told readers about CAP here and especially its proposal to airlift 100,000 Iraqis to the US ASAP.]

There is much more, read the whole article.

Come back tomorrow for Schwartz and the Tides Foundation.

Part II is here.

Comment worth noting: refugee agencies to get more federal funding

Update January 24th:  Would freeze on discretionary spending affect the money flow to this plan?

In the first week of January we posted on one more of those stories about refugees not making it in the present rotten economy—the story was from Kansas City.  In the news article we posted there was this intriguing line:

Last summer, the National Security Council appointed an interagency task force to come up with recommendations, due in February, on how to revamp the resettlement system.

I was optimistic that maybe, just maybe, some real reform would come out of this.  Maybe it still will, but we have just learned from commenter Iamevolved that the R & P money that the US State Department gives to resettlement agencies to take care of refugees in the first 30 days will be doubled!   Here is Iamevolved commenting at the Houston post, a post that incidentally created a lot of discussion.

Effective 1/1/2010 the per capita funding for the refugee resettlement program was raised from $900 to $1,800.

So, what does that mean?   Up until now, refugee resettlement agencies got $900 per head for each refugee they resettle and they split it roughly in half with the refugee.  The agency could keep its half for its office overhead and staff funding.  Now, the Obama Administration is going to magically double it (don’t they need Congressional action, or is this from Obama’s private “stash?”)   So, what else is new!  I thought that maybe since the National Security Council was involved there might be some other issues addressed.  I sure hope it isn’t just one more Obama bailout —of the refugee contractors this time.

Nesting services!   For new readers here is a little information at an older annual report on exactly what R & P means.

Most of the persons eligible for ORR’s refugee program benefits and services are refugees resettled through the Department of State’s refugee allocation system under the annual ceiling for refugee admissions. Upon arrival, refugees are provided initial services through a program of grants, called reception and placement cooperative agreements, made by the Department of State to qualifying agencies  [‘qualifying agencies’ are the The Top Ten federal contractors here].

These grantee agencies are responsible for providing initial “nesting” services covering basic food, clothing, shelter, orientation, and referral for the first 30 days.

So what happens after 30 days?  More importantly what happens after eight months and the refugee still has no job?

If we learn more we will keep you posted.  Don’t hold your breath though that they might slow the flow of refugees during this recession.

As economy plummets further and unemployment rises, Obama administration continues to import poverty

Since we have so many new readers of late, I’m going to direct you to a post I wrote last September about the Obama Administration aiming to resettle this year (!) the highest number of refugees in the US since 9/11, here.

There is no sign of a slow-down in poverty importation and that’s why we are having one story after another of refugees suffering, some wanting to go home, in Bowling Green, KY, Greensboro, NC, Sacramento, CA, Pittsburgh, PA and Houston, TX to name just a few resettlement cities with problems.

Could this be the Cloward-Piven strategy at work?  Except for a complete and utter disregard for the wishes of most American citizens (which seems to be a hallmark of this Administration), this is the only thing that makes any sense  for why we shouldn’t have a moratorium (or at least a reduction in numbers) on resettlement until we get our economic house in order.

Gitmo prisoners returned to home countries where they can rejoin jihadists…

…..but no dice on sending the Uighurs back to China.  Oh brother, the Obama Administration promised to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center by January 2010 and with the clock ticking they are sending some to home countries where they can readily rejoin their Islamic terrorist buddies.

I thought this was funny because it was in the China Post:

WASHINGTON — The United States has sent 12 inmates from the American military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Afghanistan, Yemen and an enclave in Somalia despite concerns about militant cells in those countries.

The U.S. Justice Department said on Sunday six Yemeni and four Afghan detainees were moved over the weekend to their home countries while two Somalis were transferred to regional authorities in Somaliland, a self-governing region of Somalia.

“These transfers were carried out under individual arrangements between the United States and relevant foreign authorities to ensure the transfers took place under appropriate security measures,” the department said.

[…..]

Representative Frank Wolf, the senior Republican on the House of Representatives appropriations subcommittee for the Justice Department, criticized the decision to send prisoners back to Yemen or other countries where U.S. officials believe al Qaeda is active.

“It’s a very bad decision by the Obama administration and by the Justice Department,” Wolf said in an interview. “I think it endangers our national security and endangers our citizens.”

So, you can bet the Chinese are now saying, give us our Uighurs back!   Uighurs are Chinese Muslims and China wants them back to face punishment.  This has got to be causing some heartburn in the State Department which originally wanted the Uighurs to be resettled as refugees right here in your town USA.  Instead Obama is trying desperately to find countries we can pay to take the Uighurs since political pressure has kept them from coming to your neighborhood under the care of Catholic Charities (or the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, or World Relief, or Church World Service, etc.)

You can learn more about Uighurs by using our search function.  Our most recent post is here, just two days ago.

Obama should cap non-profit group salaries as well

Your tax dollars:

I assume readers are up on the news about the Obama Administration’s plans to cap salaries and bonuses of any “fat cat” CEO’s whose businesses get federal taxpayer money.   I propose that he do the same for Leftwing non-profit groups that to a very large degree are now funded by you!  Remember ACORN and Planned Parenthood are largely funded by you too!

This subject tops my list of subjects that get my blood boiling.   I started to call it a pet peeve, but it is more than that.  If one wonders how the Left and leftwing policies are being so widely implemented (no matter who is in the White House!), it is here, through the non-profits, NGOs, or whatever you want to call them, that are really arms of government and are changing America and the world without any accountability to elected officials; and adding insult to injury, they are using your money to do it.

What prompted this little bit of research (below) was an article in the Washington Examiner on December 18th.  It’s entitled, ‘Federal salaries targeted as private-sector pay stagnates,’ and I encourage you to read it all here.  In the article and in its sidebar, here, we learn the pay levels for a variety of federal employees.

These are some of the federal salaries we learned from the Washington Examiner:

President Obama:  $400,000

Robert Gibbs, Rahm Emanuel, and David Axelrod: $172,000

VP Joe Biden:  $227,300

Nancy Pelosi:  $223,500

Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts:  $217,400

I don’t see it in the article, but I assume the average Member of Congress is under $200,000.

Now, let’s have a look at some Non-profit group salaries largely also paid by you!  And, let me be clear!  If these groups were entirely privately funded it would be none of my business, or anyone’s business, what the salaries are.  Members of these organizations then might have some say, but not the general public.

The ones I have chosen were chosen simply by how easy it was to get at their Form 990s.  Some groups are so hard to find that one must be a forensic accountant to figure them out.

The Nature Conservancy (received $110,616,412 of federal money reported in its 2008 Form 990):  Five directors make over $200,000 a year (more than Chief Justice Roberts) and the CEO makes $349,373 in salary and benefits.    What on earth does TNC’s CEO do that is worthy of an annual salary more than $122,000 higher than the Vice President of the US (no Biden jokes, please!)?

The World Wildlife Fund got $26,142,042 from taxpayers reported in its 2008 Form 990.  Its CEO made $272,404 in that year.

So Obama can make a big show of capping government salaries in the White House, while people in the NGO community are robbing the taxpayers and setting major policies by the actions and positions they take, and no one says a word largely because there exists this presumption of good intentions on the part of the organization.  They get to wear a white hat and roll in the federal dough (unlike those evil bankers and auto executives whose hats are black).

Here now are a couple of Voluntary organizations (VOLAGs)* that are contracted by the federal government to resettle refugees.  For regular readers you’ve heard this before, but we get new people visiting RRW all the time.

‘Reader,’ a commenter at this post may not know how much pay CEO’s of resettlement agencies make, while the schlubs work at the ground level with poor refugees often donating hours of time, money and supplying basic needs to the refugees.   Think about this the next time you hear of refugees living in squalor or being evicted and wanting to return to camps in the third world.

International Rescue Committee (from its Form 990 for 2008, they got $104,622,578 from taxpayers):  They have two officers of the Board of Directors over $200,000 salaries and 5 employees in the 6-figure range.  But, the big guy, CEO Charles Rupp, got $428,864 in salary and benefits!  Now, what on earth is Rupp doing that warrants a salary larger than the President of the United States?

US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) (from its Form 990 for 2008) got $22,136,680 from the federal taxpayer out of a total income of $23,138,072—that is 96% of their funding comes from YOU.  So where is the public-private partnership here???   CEO Lavinia Limon made $198,466 that year in salary and benefits.  (I see Ms. Limon is getting cost of living raises, here.)

Now revisit some of those government salaries above and consider whether the salaries at quasi-government agencies shouldn’t be brought into line with government salaries.

Besides setting the direction for your towns and cities with the refugees they resettle, these NGOs (including the environmental ones above) are also running around the world and dealing with our foreign policy with virtually no accountability to you who pay their salaries.

The average taxpayer—plumbers, janitors, nurses and teachers—are paying the salaries of fat cats at supposed do-gooder non-profits.  It stinks!

* Volag is such a misnomer, they are far from “voluntary” they are well-paid federal contractors.  Here for new readers are the Top Ten.
