Malta Update: New US ambassador plans to follow ‘tea party Molly’s’ lead

Longtime readers will recall that ‘tea party Molly’ (I called her that before ‘tea party’ took on a whole new meaning!)  is the former ambassador to Malta who set in motion a new policy for refugee resettlement that could set a precedent and have far-reaching implications.  The tiny island nation of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea is continually besieged by boat loads of Africans originating in places like Libya (with the help of human traffickers) and landing on Malta’s shores.   Some of the Africans, including a large number of Somalis, are then transformed into “refugees” bound for the US.

Use our search function for Malta to review the issue which we have been covering for a couple of years.

In an interview reported at Malta Today, the new Ambassador to Malta, Douglas Kmiec, appears ready to continue the same plan—sending some of Malta’s illegal aliens (surely a large number are economic migrants who wanted in to Europe) to the US as “refugees.”  See this post about how Frontex (EU border control agency) has warned Malta and the US that this—a free trip to America—is a “pull factor” for illegal immigrants.

Here is a portion of the Kmiec interview:

For the past years, the US has been one of the few nations to share Malta’s burden on immigration through resettlement programmes.

But haven’t US policies in Somalia, which included support for warlords and tacit support for an invasion by Ethiopia, contributed to the exodus of Somalis from the country, which directly affects Malta?

Kmiec is willing to admit that “some of our policies have increased the instability in the region… We introduced a level of instability which caused a portion of the population to migrate and that is not a good thing. We have to recognise that.”

But the problem of migration is larger than that. “People in Africa, whether from Somalia, Nigeria, Sudan or Eritrea, are seeking a better life for their families and an economic opportunity, a life where they are not threatened by violence and warlords…”

They are no different from Kmiec’s own grandfather, who migrated from Poland, and his wife’s Irish parents. “When these people come to our home and sit down telling us their story we may as well be listening to the stories of an American grandparent.”

[No, they are not your grandparents! Your grandparents got in a line to come legally, your grandparents were not potential jihadists and your grandparents did not come to the welfare state we have today.  They had to make it on their own with no ‘public assistance!”-ed]

African immigrants to the US often ask him what being an American means. “It starts with being yourself and sharing that self [what?]. I tell them when you go Minnesota, Arizona, Georgia and all the places where we resettled migrant families, do not hesitate to interact with the rest of the population.”

According to Kmiec, the primary motivation for re-settlement of migrants from Malta to the US is that of showing appreciation to Malta’s efforts to maintain the safety of migrants in the sea.

“One of the ways through which the USA has said thank you to Malta for this effort in behalf of the world, is to take some of these people.”

So, let me get this straight, the US was mucking around in Africa so we caused the “instability” in places like Somalia, and besides we (the US) want to thank Malta for rescuing these poor people from the sea?  Oh brother!

Please read Douglas Kmiec’s wikipedia page!  Wouldn’t you think that for all he did for Obama (Republicans for Obama and more!) he would have gotten a bigger country than Malta!  Although maybe the Obama Administration needed just this sort of guy to continue this policy of scooping up illegal immigrants bound for Europe and providing them with all the perks associated with Refugee Resettlement!

The tentacles always reach back to George Soros

I promise I’m not going to go into one of those long and twisted trails of who is connected to George Soros—just a short trail!  (Oops! Sorry it did get kinda long).   And, by the way, I haven’t forgotten that I am still going to post on Eric P. Schwartz, Asst. Secretary at the State Department and his connections to Soros, ConnectUSFund and the Progressives’ personal bank—the Tides Foundation.

First though watch this hilarious Youtube clip entitled “Scheisse! Der Fuehrer Finds Out About Massachusetts”  that is circulating on the internet where the Hitler character is generally understood to be George Soros and he is mad as hell at his boy Obama.  Here it is posted at one of my favorite blogs, New Zeal.

By the way, it is no longer some deep dark conspiracy theory that George Soros and his one-world cabal is pretty much in control of the Obama government, and that includes the tiny part of the government that opens our borders to third worlders under the guise of humanitarianism—the Refugee Resettlement Program of the US State Department.

The average American citizen, paying even the slightest bit of attention, knows it is the redistribution of wealth and the creation of one big happy borderless world run by the United Nations that motivates those in power now in Washington  This is no longer in the same whispered realm as black helicopters and tin-foil hats, it is out in the open for all to see.  People everywhere are waking up.

Note:  In this post, I am not talking about those refugee workers and volunteers throughout the system who believe they are doing good work for humanity and on a one to one basis they are doing just that.   What I am describing here is not about helping the individual human being (the refugee), what is happening involves pure political power, changing our government and using the world’s downtrodden as pawns in a trumped-up war against the ‘haves’.

That said,  we turn now to the Refugee resettlement program and the White House Task Force headed by Samantha Power at the National Security Council supposedly involved in reforming the program.  Incidentally, this should have been the State Department’s job!

So far they have just thrown more money to the resettlement contractors with promises of reform later.  I’ll bet too that those reforms won’t involve cutting the number of refugees entering the US even in the face of increasing unemployment as the great recession continues.   One-worlders, like Soros, know they must keep dragging the sytem down to bring about chaos and ultimately CHANGE.

Samantha Power and George Soros

A reader sent me this “Muckety” page for Ms. Power.  I have to admit I had never seen Muckety but it is lots of fun to use!   A couple of connections I’d like to direct your attention to are that she was previously a director of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), one of the richest of the Top Ten (now nine) federal contractors seeking more tax dollars, which as I said they got the other day.

[LOL! Muckety is a good name for the site because NGO’s like the IRC are out and about throughout the world mucking around in other countries’ affairs.  Funny how the FarLeft has no problem with them messing in the affairs of other countries, but just don’t let those evil neo-cons do it!]

The IRC is also one of the contractors under fire from critics who charge that they are not taking very good care of the refugees (including Iraqis!) that they resettle.  So, is Ms. Power (Mrs. Cass Sunstein) and the task force in a position to reprimand and bring reform to their old cronies?   I doubt it, and oh, by the way, George Soros is connected to the IRC too.

Note at Muckety that Ms. Power was also a director of the International Crisis Group.  I told you about them here when they wrote a big report about how the Iraqi refugee issue was, what else, in crisis.  It is a George Soros organization.  Mr. Soros strategy is to create interconnected organizations so the general public gets the impression that there are many many groups promoting certain Progressive ideas, but it’s all the same small group of people.  Kind of picture him as the Wizard sitting behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz.  Remember Dorothy and friends thought he was going to be the all powerful one to solve their problems until they discovered only a weak old man behind that curtain.

An Appeal!

In this case, a power-hungry megalomaniac, but a weak old man nonetheless, George Soros, is sitting behind a curtain with a small clique of like-minded Progressive friends, hiding under a presumption of good intentions, and working to change our government from within each and every day.  To those of you inside the refugee agencies both in and out of government, I find it hard to imagine that  all of you agree with what is happening.   For the sake of the Republic and for the sake of the immigrants being used as political pawns, please speak up!

Obama’s Open Government Directive means public can participate in refugee resettlement reform task force!

Yes!  Three cheers for the Obama White House (from me no less)!

I’m just now seeing this good news reported in early December at OMB Watch.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released the long-anticipated Open Government Directive on Dec. 8. The directive, a memo from OMB Director Peter Orszag to all agency and department heads, requires that all agencies develop and implement an Open Government Plan specific to each agency.

The directive has been in development since the first day of the Obama administration, when the president issued a memo tasking OMB and other key officials to develop the directive. The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) oversaw a three-phase online dialogue to publicly generate, discuss, and develop policy ideas for the directive. The three phases attracted a great deal of public participation.

The directive continues to emphasize the three principles outlined by President Obama in his original memo – transparency, participation, and collaboration. The directive is comprised of four main components centered on very simple but important themes – publishing information; creating a culture of openness; improving data quality; and updating policies to allow for greater openness. Each section tasks agencies and other key offices with specific goals, complete with deadlines and clear requirements that the public be informed and permitted to participate in almost every project.

Surely that means that critics of the refugee resettlement program’s management should be participating in the Task Force on-going at the White House to reform the floundering program that was discussed yesterday at Friends of Refugees here.   And, we should be able to see the notes from the Task Force meetings too!

US Conference of Catholic Bishops lobbying for Obamacare and Amnesty

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops(USCCB) is one of the largest of the Top Ten (now nine) federal refugee resettlement government contractors.   Most people are shocked when they first learn that US taxpayers give tens of million of dollars to the ‘religious’ organization each year to bring impoverished immigrants to their towns.  We have addressed the USCCB, its funding and its progressive politics on many occasions at RRW, see here,  here, here, here, and here just for starters.

Yesterday, Cliff Kincaid, writing at Accuracy in Media, has another hard charging article about the role of the Bishops in pushing Obamacare and Amnesty.

Calling health care a “right” to be guaranteed by the federal government, America’s Catholic Bishops are trying to save ObamaCare at a time when the legislation has been pronounced in limbo, dying or dead by most of the media.
The evidence of intensive Catholic Bishop lobbying activity suggests that liberal Congressional leaders are going to give the legislation a temporary respite so that liberal Catholics can be persuaded to pressure Congress to pass both national health care legislation and “comprehensive immigration reform” in the form of H.R. 4321, the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity” Act.

As AIM has documented, lobbying by the Catholic Bishops and their representatives, who worked closely with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, guaranteed passage of the health care bill in the House.

In a January 13 conference call and briefing, Kevin Appleby, a representative of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, explained in frank language why the Bishops are so desperate to pass the health care and immigration bills. He said that the Bishops want a federal health plan to absorb the costs being borne by the nation’s 600 Catholic hospitals to cover illegal aliens.

I continue to be amazed at refugee resettlement agencies that are lobbying for the legalization of immigrants who came here illegally because the millions of new legal immigrants that would be created overnight would be in direct competition with the tens of thousands of legal refugees desperately looking for work.  The only explanation, as I said yesterday in my report on a posting at New Zeal, is that it is all about politics and Democratic Leftwing voter rolls, not about the well-being of the immigrants themselves.

Kincaid goes on:

In addition, the Bishops openly state in their letter that they want “undocumented persons”–illegal aliens–to be able to purchase insurance in the new health care exchange established by the federal government.

Gabino Zavala, an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for the San Gabriel region, has written an article noting that the religious left, which he describes as “religious leaders and faith-based organizations,” have been pushing for a national health care system “for decades.” He adds, “Catholic bishops have been leading advocates for universal health care as a fundamental human right, not simply a luxury for the privileged few.”

The religious left, led by the Catholic Bishops, may represent the only way that liberals in Congress can ultimately succeed in passing ObamaCare. But that assumes that conservative Catholics will not resist the push to use church resources to give amnesty and federal benefits to illegal aliens as a way to take Catholic hospitals off the hook for many of their health care costs.

Left-wing Huffington Post blogger John Gehring notes with pride and pleasure that the Catholic bishops have “signaled they will play a leading role in pushing for comprehensive immigration reform this year by using the power of their pulpits and bipartisan political influence on Capitol Hill” and that the recent briefing was designed “to outline plans for persuading the public and wavering members of Congress that fixing a broken immigration system is a moral and practical priority.”

Look for postcards in your churches soon!  I wonder how much federal taxpayer money is going into a lobbying campaign to work against the taxpayers?

The Huffington Post’s Gehring said that Bishop John C. Wester of Salt Lake City and Bishop Howard Hubbard of Albany, New York, who are respective chairmen of the U.S. bishops’ committees on migration and international policy, have announced that over a million postcards “touting the need for immigration reform have been ordered by dioceses and parishes across the country” and that the cards will be sent to congressional offices.

The campaign is being run by the Justice for Immigrants campaign, an official project of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The pre-written postcards say, “I am a concerned constituent and agree with the U.S. Catholic bishops that the U.S. immigration system is broken and is in need of repair. I ask that this year you support immigration reform legislation that keeps immigrant families together, adopts smart and humane enforcement policies, and ensures that immigrants without legal status register with the government and begin a path toward citizenship. Our families and communities cannot wait!”

Please read the rest of Kincaid’s article.  There is more, although I took a lot above because it was so packed with information I could hardly figure out where to cut it!

The Catholic Church has every right to whip up its members on issues before Congress, but their needs to be a federal audit to try to discover if they are using tax dollars to influence Congress!  It has been our view at RRW, that churches resettling refugees should be funded by their own members and not the general public because frankly it is difficult to keep the pots of money separate.  We also know refugees have been neglected by their resettlement agencies so this lobbying activity makes us suspicious about whether there exists an appropriate firewall between funding sources.

Just a reminder it was only a few weeks ago that we learned that the Epicopal Church was balancing its books with refugee resettlement funding.

LOL!  Coincidentally I just saw this blogger, an Angry Catholic, disavowing the connections between the Bishops and Progressives and Far Left political activities, here.  In light of what we know now, that is a stretch.

Obama Administration to forge ahead on Amnesty

This is probably one of many stories that we will receive on the issue of Obama’s plans to move ahead with so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform (aka Amnesty for illegal aliens) this year.  From the Immigration Policy Center (hat tip: Ellen).

In the face of many studies to the contrary (Rubenstein here and Rector here), his theme will be that low-wage workers bring economic benefit to the US (maybe to the meatpackers, some of which are foreign-owned!).

In the State of the Union Address this evening President Obama made clear his ongoing commitment to immigration reform noting “we should continue the work of fixing our broken immigration system – to secure our borders, enforce our laws, and ensure that everyone who plays by the rules can contribute to our economy and enrich our nation.” Some may continue to argue that immigration reform is too politically risky to move on this year and that we should focus instead on rebuilding our economy. However, comprehensive immigration reform is compatible with economic reform as it would generate needed economic growth, create jobs and increase tax contributions by ensuring that everyone working in the United States is doing so legally. In fact, immigration reform would allow us to take full advantage of the opportunities for economic growth that immigrants bring.

You go for it Obama—throw more red meat to the Tea Partiers!   I consider that devastating defeat for Progressives on the Kennedy/McCain Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill as the first organized action by the Tea Party forces.  Of course, there was no Tea Party label in 2007, but it was the seminal event that showed Conservative grassroots that they could join forces and win with all odds stacked against them—even President Bush was on the side of amnesty.
