How Obama won — and will continue to get his way

The American Thinker has a brilliant article today on Obama’s strategy for winning the election, with a diagram that will blow your mind. “How He Did It: A Diagrammatic Analysis Analysis of the Obama Campaign,” by Paul Shlichta, begins this way:

“All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred, and schizophrenia.” —George Orwell.
The audacity and speed with which Obama railroaded the stimulus bill through Congress took Republicans by surprise. It shouldn’t have; it was a logical extension of his campaign tactics.
.
Like the spear-carrying soldiers of Ethiopia, overwhelmed by Mussolini’s tanks and poison gas in 1936, the Republicans simply don’t know what hit them in last year’s election. Some felt that they had conducted an old-fashioned 20th century campaign while Obama mounted the first truly information-age 21st century political blitzkrieg. Others blame the blatant media bias, the race issue, or the unprecedented scale of fund raising and spending.
.
The first month of Obama’s regime has provoked a similar bewilderment. A dazed Congress hastily authorized a huge document, filled with hidden booby traps like RAT, that none of them had actually read, let alone comprehended. Republicans are now cowering in corners, wondering what atrocity will come next.
.
In order to fight back we need to analyze how he did it, the author says. He explains his diagram, which is very complex because Obama’s strategy is complex. So far, Republicans don’t seem to have a clue how to counteract this strategy, which is understandable. As Schlicta says, it’s spear-carriers versus tanks. I hope the chart and the explanation get circulated far and wide, and some smart conservatives figure out what to do.
.
The alternative is to wait until Obama fails — the economy collapses and/or we undergo major terrorist attacks. But even then, you can just see Obama blaming it on his opposition and positioning himself as the One who will save the country. Obama learned well from Alinsky, but he is miles past him now.
.
In Refugee Resettlement Watch’s little corner of the political world, I predict huge increases in refugee quotas. Whatever is destabilizing and disruptive, that’s the way he will go.

Obama picks open-borders advocate for senior position at Homeland Security

Not unexpectedly President Obama has chosen a longtime advocate for bringing more immigrants to the US for a deputy assistant secretary at Homeland Security.

According to the Colorado Independent:

Esther Olavarria, a Senior Fellow and Director of Immigration Policy at the Center for American Progress, is Obama’s pick for deputy assistant secretary of homeland security for policy.

Olavarria, in particular, signals a major change for DHS.

Not only does she come from the progressive CAP, but she spent almost 10 years as counsel to Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Refugees. Her work there included proposals on comprehensive immigration reform. Olavarria started her career as an immigrants’ advocate when she was a managing attorney of the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center; she has also been directing attorney of the American Immigration Lawyers Association Pro Bono Project and staff attorney at the Haitian Refugee Center in Miami.

Left out of this report is that she also previously worked for the UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees).

Regular readers will remember that John Podesta’s Center for American Progress is infamous for recently suggesting we airlift 100,000 Iraqis to the US this year.   Because of her position at CAP’s Olavarria must have been behind that scheme.

Obama sending almost a billion dollars to Hamas via the UN

Not content with the $20 million he ordered sent to Gaza, President Obama is now going for aid in a big way. The New York Times reports:

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration intends to provide some $900 million to help rebuild Gaza after the Israeli incursion that ended last month, administration officials said Monday.

In an early sign of how the administration plans to deal with Hamas, the militant Islamist group that controls Gaza, an official said that the aid would not go to Hamas but that it would be funneled through nongovernmental organizations.

Andy McCarthy at National Review has a comprehensive smackdown of the idea the money won’t go to Hamas, beginning with this excellent paragraph:

Various la-la land conservatives and moderates assured us that Obama, despite a career spent in the Left’s fever swamps, is really a “pragmatist” who would govern from the center.  They pooh-poohed us knuckle-draggers who doggedly pointed to his radical intimates, like Hamas-apologist Rashid Khalidi.  I wonder what they’re thinking today as Obama takes time out from destroying the economy to send $900M from the mint’s busy printing press to Hamas.

Despite disclaimers in the New York Times, yes, the money is going to Hamas, via the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, UNRWA.

The UNRWA is effectively an arm of Hamas in Gaza (and elsewhere).  In its second term, the Bush State Department was reckless in enabling Palestinian terrorists on its utopian quest for Middle East peace.  As in so much else, Obama is taking that parlous policy and multiplying it by a hundred.

After going through the many ways UNRWA aids Hamas, McCarthy concludes:

The game here is obvious.  UNRWA takes in hundreds of millions (indeed, billions) in aid.  Some is directly funnelled to Hamas in cash or in kind.  But for the most part, UNRWA performs social welfare services quite consciously to free Hamas — the Palestinians’ chosen government — to divert its limited resources to wage a terrorist war (“the resistance”) against Israel.

And here’s the nub of it:

If an organization comprised of American citizens attempted to do this, they could be prosecuted and imprisoned for decades on charges of providing material support to a terrorist organization.  (I would say “would be prosecuted,” but with this administration, who knows?)  Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (an old hand at empowering Palestinian terrorists) are now proposing to give nearly a billion dollars to a Hamas subsidiary — knowing full well that this funding must inevitably result in the murder of innocent people.

McCarthy points out that Congress could stop this expenditure. Fat chance. All we can hope for is that a few principled Republicans will raise the alarm, so at least some citizens will realize how closely the Obama administration is aligning itself with terrorists.

I highly recommend you read McCarthy’s whole post.

Obama’s attorney general Holder calls us cowards for not talking about race

In a speech yesterday, newly appointed Attorney General Eric Holder has managed to stir a hornets nest by saying Americans are “cowards” for not talking about race.

Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards,” said Holder, nation’s first black attorney general.

Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, Holder said, but “we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race.”

Mr. Holder, if people aren’t talking about race enough for you, you can blame your politically correct elitist friends for that.   Most  “average Americans” are afraid to open their mouths on the subject because some snotty leftwing goon will tell them they are racist xenophobic hatemongers.

And then, as for your comment that people of various races work together but don’t socialize together, so what!   People spend their free time with people they relate to for myriad reasons.  It has nothing to do with race it has to do with culture, values, lifestyle, and the way one grew up.  Here is what Holder said:

Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.

If you leftwingers in the Obama Administration have a hang-up about race, could you keep your hang-ups to yourself.  You might be surprised that “average Americans” are doing just fine.

And, besides Mr. Holder, didn’t we just elect a black President, aren’t you the first black Attorney General, didn’t you all tell us we were now a post-racial country, so maybe you could find more positive, constructive or useful things to say about the American people.   Or, maybe don’t say anything and do your job.

Part III: Refugee Council USA tells Obama we need to resettle 45,000 Iraqis this year

I’ve been telling you about the briefing book prepared by the Refugee Council USA (RCUSA) for Obama and the 111th Congress.   (See Part I and Part II)

Today I’m writing about the section (page 6) entitled:  Iraqi Humanitarian and Displacement Crisis.

Right off the bat, I’m ticked off.  They define the problem with this first sentence:  “Millions of Iraqis have been violently displaced and made vulnerable since the 2003 war.”   But, they never tell you that many of these same groups that make up RCUSA were coping with possibly hundreds of thousands of refugees from Iraq BEFORE the war because of Saddam Hussein’s policies.    But, telling us that some of these refugees have been refugees earlier than 2003 does not suit their political agenda!

They go on to recommend that we resettle 45,000 Iraqis in the next 12 months.

Then here is something we have been warning about for some time.  There are Palestinian refugees in camps along the border between Iraq and Syria that no Muslim country will resettle.  The pressure is on for us to take the Palestinians.  Here is the recommendation from this group:

Create a priority two processing category to resettle Palestinians forced out of their homes in Iraq and particularly those languishing in camps near the Syrian border.

These Palestinians are refugees because they are persecuted by their fellow Muslims.  There is however no special treatment recommended for Christian Iraqis being persecuted by Muslims.

Obviously refugee lobbying groups are not on the same page.   Here is a roundup of Iraqi refugee resettlement wishlists:

Refugees International wants 105,500.

Obama’s friends at the Center for American Progress will only be happy with an airlift of  100,000.

And, Human Rights First wants a paltry 60,000 over two years.

Meanwhile there are no jobs for Iraqi refugees, or most other refugees either.
