41 NGO's send letter to Obama: We want 200,000 refugees admitted to US in FY2017

Remember that Obama signaled last fall that he was shooting for 100,000 refugees for FY17 (it will be his last year to make a Presidential ‘determination’ under the Refugee Act of 1980).
InterAction logo
These non-governmental organizations, part of yet another umbrella, this one called InterAction (a united global voice for change), include some of the nine major federal resettlement contractors we always talk about. They need money—your money—to build their offices, their staff and their political power base!
Resettling refugees takes a lot of money!
Sorry to keep repeating this but I want you all, and especially new readers who arrive here every day, to understand what the game plan is—to change America by changing its people—and Obama has one more shot at it.  He will do his PR stunt at the UN on September 20th and then go to Congress with his final plan for 2017 before October 1 (the 2017 fiscal year begins October 1, a little over 4 weeks from now).

However, Congress will have the final say as Congress holds the purse strings.  Congress can limit (or cut out completely!) funding for refugee resettlement into your towns.

Mitch_McConnell_Paul_Ryan_eR_151231_12x5_1600
It won’t be Obama making the final determination for 2017, it will be these two—Republican leaders in the House and Senate!

So please, please, focus your energy on Congress right now and through the fall (in addition to making sure Hillary loses).  It will be Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell deciding your town’s future not Obama (or these progressive NGOs)!

In a letter dated last Thursday here is what the 41 non-profits affiliated with InterAction are telling Obama to do.  BTW that fizzled rally on the mall on Sunday is all part of this same propaganda push where they are trying to create the illusion that everyone in America is behind this.

Expanding and facilitating resettlement in the U.S.:

Over 80% of refugees are hosted in developing countries. Resettlement gives wealthier nations an important opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to global responsibility sharing. We urge the administration to commit to 200,000 refugee and humanitarian admissions in FY2017, including at least 140,000 through traditional refugee resettlement and 60,000 through other creative solutions such as expansions of family-based, employment, and student visas.

This 100% increase in resettlement and alternative admissions pathways would demonstrate that the United States, the world’s largest recipient for refugee resettlement, is willing to be as ambitious as it is asking others to be. [Maybe it’s time for all  those other countries to step up first and offer PERMANENT resettlement for a change!—ed]

Obama Administration bragging everywhere about reaching the 10,000 Syrian Muslim number before deadline

They still have a  month to reach the end of Fiscal Year 2016 refugee admissions and they will likely bring in at least another 1,000 Syrian (mostly Sunni Muslims) for your towns and cities.
Here  is ABC’s take on the news we reported the other day when we linked a World Net Daily story in our post about the Rally4Refugees event that fizzled and flopped in Washington, DC on Sunday.

Alice Wells
Ambassador Alice Wells says bye! bye! to Syrian families headed to the American heartland. Note the Obama T-shirt on the bulletin board in the background. And, you should know that IOM, another federal refugee contractor, has recently been absorbed into the United Nations.

I had to laugh when I saw how ABC news characterizes Church World Service (a federal resettlement contractor) as working closely with the US government.  I guess if you are a paid contractor for the government that is working closely, but it shows me that the mainstream media has really no clue about how PERMANENT*** resettlement works in America.
Check out that photo of our Ambassador to Jordan (above) and the little PR stunt as she sends off these latest Syrians to your town (see the bulletin board behind her).
And, for those who have forgotten it was Ambassador Wells last spring who reported that the normal 18-24 months of supposed security screening had been reduced to 3 months to make Obama’s 10,000 goal.  So every time you hear an elected official parroting the lie that the screening is 18-24 months tell them they are misinformed.
Here are Syrian numbers that the Refugee Processing Center reports as of August 29th (for fiscal year 2016 that began on October 1, 2015):

Total Syrians admitted: 10,177 (again in this fiscal year)

Suni Moslems: 9,988

Shiite Moslems: 20

Moslems: 90

Total of all Moslems (their spelling btw) admitted: 10,098

Percentage of Syrian Muslims admitted to the US by the Obama Administration this year:  99%

They are being resettled in the US (with money appropriated by the Republican Congress) by Catholic Charities, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Church World Service representing many mainstream Protestant faiths, Episcopal Migration Ministries, and World Relief which are Evangelicals.  Does not one of those (GUTLESS!) so-called ‘religious’ charities ever say—WHAT ABOUT THE PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS!
***You know there are still some uninformed people, some in the media too, who think that we bring Iraqis, Syrians, Somalis etc. here on a temporary basis and that they are then sent home after their countries calm down—that is not true.  Refugees admitted in this program are here forever and are actually encouraged to make their status permanent as soon as they can.  (The Dems need the voters! And, the Republicans want the cheap labor!).

DCRally4Refugees falls short of expectations

Update September 1: Human Rights First spins event here. For those of you who were there, note they refer to “crowds” mostly dressed in orange. No crowds and there were not that many people in orange.
Update August 30th: Breitbart has more of my comments on the rally here.
I’m glad I dragged myself to Washington on a steaming Sunday morning because if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes I wouldn’t have believed that the big hoopla that led up to the so-called Rally4Refugees would fall so short of expectations.
Someone spent an awful lot of money for jumbotrons, tents, a big sound system, bottled water, porta pots, and African American clean-up crews (for a mostly white crowd) for what generously might be called a thousand people (at one point or another during the event).  I’m terrible at estimating crowds, so it might have been 500 at the peak of the rally before noon.
Most attendees did not wear the recommended orange shirts so some of those watching the poets, singers and marching troops in orange life vests could have been tourists who took a few minutes from their visit to the Washington Monument to see what was going on.
My report was phoned in to Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily and his write-up is here. ‘Puny’ it was!
For your viewing pleasure, here are more photos of the day (in addition to those posted at WND). I’ll be so interested to see how any other media reports on it.  I saw lots of fancy schmancy cameras, but I didn’t see any cable news or reporters of any note.

It is all about the money! Will Congressional Republicans save us, or not? (More money Part II)

Update: Rally fizzles, pathetic turnout!  Click here for photos.
The Rally4Refugees  (aka Rally4Money) kicks off today in Washington and although organizers want to give the impression that this is all about saving the downtrodden of the world, they know and are working toward the goal of wringing more of your money, taxpayer dollars, out of you to expand their progressive power base, force diversity down everyone’s throats, and help bring a steady supply of cheap labor for their partners in the global economy.
[See my Part I, here, also about the money]
We can impotently holler and scream about the UN, about Obama, about Soros and Hillary, but we should be screaming at the Republicans in Congress and especially the leadership.

Obama cannot expand the numbers of refugees he wants for FY2017 without the accompanying money from you!

A week or so ago we told you that Obama is looking to get $2.2 BILLION appropriated for FY2017 for the Office of Refugee Resettlement alone.  The fiscal year begins October 1!

Congress and the power of the purse!

Mitch_McConnell_Paul_Ryan_eR_151231_12x5_1600
We can scream and shout about the UN, Obama, Soros, and Hillary, but whether your town is spared becoming a new or expanded resettlement site depends on these two! Senator Mitch McConnell and Speaker Paul Ryan.

When Congress returns after Labor Day, will Congress pass a ‘continuing budget resolution’ until a later date (past the November election)?
Will they address next year’s budget in the lame duck session following the election and after we know who will be our President in 2017?
Might they pass a continuing resolution until say March (giving a new President time to have some influence)? Or, they could pass a whole year’s budget in the lame duck.
We don’t know, but you can be sure that during those September days (before they leave to campaign in October) funding issues will be front and center for them.
The point I’m making is that your energy must now be placed on stopping the funding for refugee resettlement (or at minimum keeping it at last year’s level) when the contractors and those organizing that rally today will be putting all their time and energy (most likely using your money to lobby as well!) into expanding the funding levels to accommodate whatever crazy number Obama will announce at the UN in September. Go here and look at their postcard to Congress—it is about MONEY!
The nine federal resettlement contractors*** have no money if they can’t get it from you!
Again, Obama says he wants $2.2 Billion for ORR (in the Dept. of Health and Human Services) while the House Appropriations Committee has already weighed in and said, no. They propose keeping the funding at last year’s level.
See what they said here in the Appropriations Committee report earlier this summer (hat tip: Richard at Blue Ridge Forum).  The Committee recommends $1.6 billion.  The contracting agencies will have a much more difficult time trying to open all the new offices they have been talking about with money at last year’s level.
Editor: Remember as you read this that this is just for the Office of Refugee Resettlement and know that the State Department also pays out at least another $500 million directly to the contractors. Also, be sure to take note of the fact that the ‘Unaccompanied Alien Children’ are now costing us almost one billion alone!

REFUGEE AND ENTRANT ASSISTANCE
The Committee recommends $1,674,691,000 for Refugee and
Entrant Assistance programs, which is the same as the fiscal
year 2016 enacted level and $575,169,000 below the fiscal year
2017 budget request.
The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) programs are
designed to help refugees, asylees, Cuban and Haitian entrants,
and trafficking victims become employed and self-sufficient.
These programs also provide for care of unaccompanied immigrant
children in Federal custody and victims of torture.
Within the total, the Committee recommends the following:

                                                            FY 2017

Healthcare and Education Costs Related to Illegal
Immigration.--The Committee is concerned with the significant
healthcare and education costs to State and local communities
resulting from illegal immigration. In addition, the Committee
is concerned about the response time from previous inquiries on
this matter; the Committee urges the Departments of Education
and Health and Human Services to provide timely and informative
assistance when requested. The Committee further directs the
Departments of Education and Health and Human Services to
provide all available Federal resources to assist State and
local governments with these increased costs that are a direct
result of Federal law or policy. The Committee further directs
the Departments to provide a report to the House Appropriations
Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and
Education, the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and
the Subcommittee on Homeland Security within 90 days of
enactment on the costs borne by State and local governments and
the Federal government for providing health and education
services to individuals without legal immigration status. The
report should cover the costs incurred over the course of
fiscal years 2014-2016 and include projected costs for fiscal
years 2017 through 2021. The report shall also include an
accounting of what Federal resources have been directed and
what Federal resources will be directed in each year to cover
these added expenses.

Note above in blue—that is the Committee telling HHS something they want done! Such demands can be placed in Appropriations bills.  This is a good step, but it would be even better if it directed them to find out what the state and local costs are of refugees placed in your towns as well.

Republican members of the subcommittee responsible for the above are listed here.  Is yours among them? If so, thank them. Tell them this is a start!

Look for Part III this coming week.  So what is the US State Department asking for in FY2017?
***The nine federal resettlement contractors (participating in the rally for money today) are almost completely funded with your tax dollars:

Northhampton, Massachusetts will become new resettlement site

This is a short news item at New England Public Radio.
Because the resettlement contractors are wearing out their welcome in places like Springfield, Mass. they are moving out to fresh territory.  Moves like this one (20 miles up the road) are also to accommodate the large increase in the number of refugees expected in 2017 if Obama gets his way in September. (If Paul Ryan lets him have his way!)

alisa Klein
Alisa Klein is one of two city council members who promoted a resolution to urge the resettlement of Syrian Muslims (99% of those arriving are Sunni Muslims) to Northhampton. Learn more about her here where she got in trouble for remarks about the police last year. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2015/01/northampton_city_councilor_ali.html

City council members last fall said they wanted Northhampton to be a sanctuary for Syrians, here.

Residents of Northampton, Massachusetts, are laying the groundwork for the likely arrival of refugees in the next year.

Catholic Charities, based in Springfield, expects to resettle 51 refugees from Syria, Iraq, Burundi, and the Congo, and they’re focusing on Northampton, where the city council last year passed a resolution to welcome the groups.

[….]

Catholic Charities says the first refugees could come as early as January.

We have many posts on Springfield, Mass (click here) where the mayor there begged for relief as his city became overloaded a few years ago.
Like Ithaca, NY there seems to be no resistance in Northhampton to the arrival of impoverished and not thoroughly screened refugees.
Just a reminder to have a look at ‘Ten things your town needs to know when welcoming refugees.’  51 might not seem like much, but once the door is opened, I guarantee the numbers will mushroom year after year.
I was recently shocked to see that in ‘welcoming’ Lancaster, PA they get 700 refugees a year and that the local school district is now embroiled in a costly legal battle about how best to educate older teenage refugees.  Are you ready Northhampton?
Hey! I just remembered!  Whatever happened to the Syrian refugee resettled to Lowell earlier this summer and ultimately arrested for an unwanted sexual advance on a little girl at a public swimming pool?  Does anyone know?
