Sheesh! Not sure I can ever watch ‘Gladiator’ again!
Crowe: I have a few extra rooms in my penthouse in Sydney! Photo: The Australian
Crowe wants to take a refugee home, one of the Muslims presently protesting on Manus Island where those who tried to get to Australia illegally have been housed for the last few years, and help him find a job.
The facility was to be closed by the end of October, but Australia didn’t move the wannabe Australians out and now they are huddled in the facility with no food or water creating a stand off. They fear attack by locals if they venture outside.
Surprisingly what is missing in the news from The Australianis any Trump-bashing for not moving fast enough to consummate Obama’s “dumb deal” and bring 1,250 of them to Anytown, USA.
The impasse is a result of Australia’s policy to deter illegal migration which says if you try to break in to our country, you will never get in. So far they are sticking with it.
Crowe: I want to take a few home with me!
Actor Russell Crowe has blasted the Australian government for its handling of refugees at Manus Island detention centre, offering to house and find work for detainees himself.
In a series of twitter posts, the Gladiator star described the government’s current refugee processing program as “a nation’s shame”.
“Manus. A Nations shame. Lives held in limbo . Lives lived in fear & despair. It’s f***ing disgraceful,” the actor tweeted on Wednesday evening.
A spokeswoman for Immigration Minister Peter Dutton told The Australian she questioned how the actor expected to carry out his offer considering current immigration policies.
“How does he anticipate he will resettle refugees without the necessary visas?,” she said.
[Why not call his bluff and the bluffs of any other rich Leftists, give them a ‘refugee’ to take home and make them sign for full responsibility for that alien’s expenses and actions for say the next 5 or 10 years? Heck! Maybe even require an up front retainer paid to the government for say $50,000 to help repay the taxpayers for their expenses over the last few years!—ed]

New Zealand’s new prime minister, 37-year-old Jacinda Ardern, says her country will take 150 of the mostly male detained aliens.
Crowe’s tweets come as the UN Refugee Agency declared an “unfolding humanitarian emergency” on Manus Island, after food, running water and power was cut off at the detention centre after its official closure on Tuesday.
Some 600 asylum seekers have barricaded themselves inside the complex, fearful they will be attacked if they venture outside.
Iranian refugee Behrouz Boochani, who is among those on Manus Island, told AAP “the place is like a war zone”. [This ‘refugee’ has become the medial mouthpiece active on social media.—ed]
[….]
Earlier today, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed an offer to take 150 refugees annually from Australia’s detention centres.
For new readers, see my Australia “dumb deal” archive here. Last we heard about 50 have arrived in the US.
Dear Mr. President, if any of these Australian ‘refugees’ commit crimes or terror acts in the US, no one is ever going to remember they were a result of an Obama deal struck in the closing days of his administration. They will be yours! You own it now!
Well, I can envision something worse as we are hearing rumors that the major Lutheran contractor (the one responsible for moving cases to Nebraska and elsewhere) is having some internal strife.
That would be Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service(headquartered in Baltimore) the same one thatcontracted with major meatpacker, the foreign-owned JBS Swift, to provide refugee labor and training to retain that labor.
In the summer of 2015, I traveled from Greeley, CO (JBS home away from home) through Nebraska—I saw the big meat plants greedy for cheap immigrant labor!
Back to my story from the Omaha World-Heraldwhere of course there is no mention of the connection between refugee labor and BIG MEAT!
It is not just BIG MEAT looking for refugees in Nebraska. The Nebraska Democrat Party is looking for voters. Nevermind new refugees can’t vote for 5 years. See Jane Kleeb here. Are the Dems working for BIG MEAT? http://journalstar.com/news/state-and-regional/govt-and-politics/nebraska-dems-criticized-by-far-right-outlets-for-giving-voter/article_cd25719b-197b-5f3c-9a1d-8706a9b10fd2.html
Refugee resettlements in Nebraska have slowed from a trickle to a drip.
Advocates lamented the resettlement numbers at an Omaha Refugee Task Force meeting Wednesday.
“It’s as bad as it can get,” Jaleel Oladipo, the state’s reception and placement manager for Lutheran Family Services, said at the meeting. The task force meets every other month to review incoming refugee numbers and share ways to better serve refugees. [By the way, this is a meeting that should be open to the public. Is it?—ed]
[….]
Statewide, LFS resettled 43 refugees in Omaha and Lincoln in September, the last month of the 2017 federal fiscal year, and 31 in both cities in October. Four are expected for November. Oladipo said LFS could resettle as few as 20 to 30 total statewide from now until March.
During the same period last year, LFS resettled 224 in September, 140 in October and 512 between Nov 1. and March 31.
In 2016, Nebraska accepted 1,441 refugees, becoming the nation’s top refugee resettlement state per capita.
Karen Parde, Nebraska’s refugee resettlement coordinator, said at Wednesday’s meeting that refugee resettlement numbers are “very much down.”
[….]
“We need to re-look at how we do our business,” Parde said. “It’s going to be a very small year.”
What she means by that is that they receive their funding on a per head basis. Each NEW refugee is a paying client who comes with federal money attached. No new clients means dwindling income and that means staff reductions. Their whole “business” has been built on a house of cards!
Concerned citizens in Nebraska are encouraged to pin down Republican Senator Ben Sasse. Is he all for bringing in cheap immigrant labor and more Democrat voters?
Lost in all the hubbub over the tax bill, Hillary/Trump and the Russians, and now another Islamic terrorist attack, is the little known, but growing concern about the reemergence of the Plague, otherwise known as Black Death that decimated Europe in the 14th Century.
Is it even on America’s radar screen?
The disease moved more slowly in the 14th Century. Today we are one refugee and one plane flight away from infecting the North American continent.
Readers should know that many of the countries now on the Plague’s possible flight path are also countries from which refugees arrive almost daily to the US—most specifically Kenya (most US-bound Somalis come through Kenya), Ethiopia and South Africa.
The latest outbreak, which took root in Madagascar, has now killed 124 people and infected around 1,300, but scientists say this figure will definitely rise.
South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Comoros, the Seychelles, Mauritius and Reunion have all been placed on high alert by World Health Organisation (WHO) monitors.
Experts say the deadly disease is caused by the same bacteria that wiped out 25 million people in Europe in the 13th and 14th centuries.
And WHO officials, who have been working with Madagascar’s Ministry of Health, warn the risk of the epidemic spreading is “high”.
[….]
…concerned WHO officials claim there is “something different” about this outbreak and “health officials couldn’t explain it”.

Sure hope the Trump Admin is aware and working on this!
See our Health Issues category (340 previous posts archived there) on more about the diseases and mental health problems entering the US with the refugee flow. Did you know refugees with HIV and TB are admitted to the US?
Stephen Bauman, a former CEO of World Relief, one of nine federal resettlement contractors*** (paid by the head to place refugees in towns that are kept in the dark about the resettlement process) was speaking to an interfaith gathering in North Carolina recently when he said some annoying things.
We love refugees, but regular ol’ Americans obviously not so much!
The one that really got me is the one about needing refugees to teach us how to love.
What the heck, what’s wrong with loving the neighbors in your own town, the low income Americans of all colors who are suffering. In fact the first question I get when someone first learns about refugee resettlement is:
We have our own poor people why aren’t we taking care of them first?
America needs refugees as much as refugees need places like America, says Stephan Bauman, former president and CEO of World Relief, which has helped to resettle thousands of desperate wanderers.
Bauman addressed refugees and volunteers who have helped to make them at home during a “refugee welcome” event attended by more than 350 at Knollwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, N.C., Oct. 21. [Can we conclude that Winston-Salem has no American poor people remaining, that these good Baptists have taken care of them all?—ed]
In the past two years, Knollwood has helped to settle four refugee families — three of them in partnership with Temple Emanuel, a Jewish community in the city. Their resettled families have been Muslim.

Baptist minister Lipsett
While other such relationship building events are not unique, organizer Diane Lipsett said this event paid special attention to why helping refugees “matters to our faith.” She led panel discussions with volunteers from three faiths, and had the entire discussion translated into both Arabic and Swahili so refugees primarily from Syria and the Congo would be fully integrated.
Bauman, who this year became executive director of Cornerstone Trust, a grant management firm in Grand Rapids, Mich., said America needs refugees “so we can love one another, because we don’t naturally love each other.” The common task of service for others induces us to drop our regard for differences.
Resettling refugees, sometimes those from countries not friendly to the United States, shows us “how to love our enemies,” Bauman said.
[….]
For Bob Schwartz, it is the Jewish tradition of “Tikkun olam,” the mandate to repair the world, “to make the world a better place.”
What! It isn’t sufficient to love those around you and repair your own neighborhood? And, why isn’t Bauman still heading World Relief (National Association of Evangelicals) if resettling refugees is such a wonderful thing?
All this phony-baloney love-talk reminds me how much Bauman and World Relief don’t love you—people who ask questions and want to know how the refugee program is working in your home towns (what it costs and the potential cultural/social upheaval that could follow)!
In 2015 I traveled to Minnesota and was interviewed on a local radio station. (BTW, World Relief was one of three federal contractors originally responsible for the placement of Somali refugees in the state).
I told listeners that they needed to get a copy of the R & P (Reception & Placement) Abstract, that is the plan each contractor operating in a city prepares for the federal government. It tells how many refugees the contractor wants to bring and what amenities your town/city has to offer the refugees. (See the recent one from St. Cloud here).
Not only should this document be available to you after it is prepared, but frankly taxpaying citizens should see it and be able to comment on its drafting. For most areas of the country this document is still SECRET! (Feel the love!)
And, shame on any mayor and council that is not even aware there is such a planning document!
So if Bauman loved YOU, why would he have been running such a secretive program?
Or, is his love limited to only those who agree with him politically (and for the “strangers” he places in your towns)?
See below in this internal memo sent from World Relief headquarters (while Bauman was still CEO) to their subcontractors (they call them affiliates) around the country and shared with me.
Feel the love!
(I’ve removed the names of recipients and highlighted the portions of most interest to me.)
Stand for the foreign-born vulnerable should be their motto!
We’ve heard recently from other members of RCUSA (Refugee Council USA) that local affiliates have been contacted by individuals questioning the U.S. refugee program. This is a result of an interview Ann Corcoran, a blogger who runs Refugee Resettlement Watch, with a local news station in Minnesota. She has told her followers to to ask you for your R&P abstract – please do not send it. And please let us know if you are contacted.
Finally, please don’t go searching for this woman’s blog. I give you her information so you know if and when someone calls that this is the same topic. Here are Scott’s tips on interacting with these types of blogs:
Here is an important remember of how blog analytics work. Remember that what feeds the beast essentially are clicks. Ever hear the term “click-bait”? Seeing something in your Facebook feed that says “Velociraptor eats Skittles and your mind will be blown at what happens next!”, would be a dramatized example of that. In other words, while we all don’t really like anything this blogger has to say, every time we share the link, she gets a click. Bloggers have some very useful tools. They are able to tell when people read articles, what they are interested in, and what they search for on the blog. The more times this article is shared, the more the blogger will think they are onto something here and post more about it. Just as a news organization may hammer on a specific story, not because it is a great story, but because it builds up ratings and viewership. What can be done about this?
The best thing I recommend is if a blog such as this is posted by ForRefugees (Chris C.) or Refugee Resettlement Watch (Ann C.) and we believe it is worth sharing for FYI, that the person who locates it simply copy and paste the text from the blog into the e-mail. This will ensure that the clicks are limited. It will get 1 or 2 clicks from WR, versus 20 clicks. Those add up.

Fascinating isn’t it how hard they tried to keep my posts from being widely read. And, I love it that they didn’t want any conflicting information reaching the sensitive ears of their staffers.
The Refugee Council USA mentioned in the first paragraph is the lobbying arm of the refugee industry and we have mentioned them many times here. Most recently they (including World Relief) were involved in joining CAIR to march at the #NoMuslimBanEver rally against the President here.
***These are the nine federal refugee contractors that are responsible for placing all refugees in your towns. These nine get the refugee cases from the US State Department and distribute them to over 300 subcontractors operating in your towns. They all keep the R & P Abstracts under wraps because they don’t want you to know their plans.
More than half surveyed said Australia felt like a foreign country!
And, the upshot of this news story is a warning that if the nationalists can mount a countrywide political campaign they could become the power in Australia.
Rejecting the usual excuse that migrants stimulate economic growth, economics are not a major concern—loss of culture and quality of life is driving the worry. (Hint! Although it isn’t politically correct, don’t be afraid to bring up those concerns!)
THREE quarters of Australians believe the country doesn’t need any more people and nearly half support a partial ban on Muslim immigrants.
For those of you wondering, there is no fresh news about the possibly 1,250 Australian rejected asylum seekers coming to America after the first 50 or so we reported here last month: https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2017/09/29/first-50-of-australias-failed-asylum-seekers-have-arrived-in-us/
An Australian Population Research Institute survey of more than 2000 people also found 54 per cent want a reduction in the annual migrant intake.
The independent organisation believes the results are driven by quality of life concerns and rapid changes in Australia’s ethnic and religious make-up.
“Australian voters’ concern about immigration levels and ethnic diversity does not derive from economic adversity,” academics Katharine Betts and Bob Birrell wrote in a report based on the survey.
“Rather, it stems from the increasingly obvious impact of population growth on their quality of life and the rapid change in Australia’s ethnic and religious make-up.”
[….]
… 74 per cent of those surveyed believe Australia is “already full”, with most pointing to roads congestion, hospitals capacity, affordable housing and fewer jobs as evidence.
Some 54 per cent want Australia to cut its annual immigrant intake of about 190,000 people and48 per cent backed a partial ban on Muslim immigration.
[….]
The strongest support for the partial ban came from One Nation voters (89 per cent), with more than 50 per cent of Liberal voters agreeing and just over a third of Labor supporters.
“The willingness to take a tough, discriminating stance on Muslim immigration is not limited to a small minority, but extends to almost half of all voters,” the report said.
More than half of those surveyed feared Australia risked losing its culture and identity, with a similar number saying it had changed beyond recognition and sometimes “felt like a foreign country”.
