No surprise! UN Secretary General (Socialist) Antonio Guterres pushing mass migration

Update: Leo Hohmann has more on this story at his new website, here.
In his argument posted at The Guardian, he says more legal pathways are needed because they (from the third world) are coming illegally (whether we like it or not).  Sounds like blackmail to me!
He also confirms my oft-repeated contention that it is the desire by industries for labor that we should be satisfying in the new borderless (dream) world.

Aspiring migrants, denied legal pathways to travel, inevitably fall back on irregular methods. This not only puts them in vulnerable positions, but also undermines governments’ authority. The best way to end the stigma of illegality and abuse around migrants is, in fact, for governments to put in place more legal pathways for migration, removing the incentives for individuals to break the rules, while better meeting the needs of their labour markets for foreign labour.

Thanks to reader Deb for sending me Jihad Watch’s take on his screed here.  See discussion there about hijrah and the OIC.

Obama delivers remarks to reporters as he welcomes Guterres in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington
Guterres in happier times (December 2016)  https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2016/12/03/big-smooch-from-obama-to-new-un-secretary-general-guterres/

Then check out Breitbart’s report :

United Nations Secretary General António Guterres has unveiled his plan to promote global mass migration in the left-liberal Guardian newspaper.

Guterres, a former Socialist Party prime minister in his native Portugal, took over the top job at the UN on January 1st, having previously served as the institution’s High Commissioner for Refugees.

His article, titled ‘Migration can benefit the world. This is how we at the UN plan to help, makes the bold claim that mass migration “powers economic growth, reduces inequalities and connects diverse societies”, in order to promote the Global Compact for Migration.

“This will be the first overarching international agreement of its kind,” he boasted — but claimed it would not “place any binding obligations on states”, but rather serve as “an unprecedented opportunity for leaders to counter the pernicious myths surrounding migrants”.

Trump dumps!

Breitbart continues:Trump at UN

These assurances have failed to convince the Donald Trump administration in the United States, with the White House rejected it as “simply not compatible with US sovereignty”, and President Trump summarizing it as “no borders, everyone can come in!”

Then this….

He [Guterres] made the contentious claim that migrants “take jobs” that local workers “cannot” fill, and asserted that this is a positive thing. He also attempted to spin the fact that migrants send huge sums of money straight out of their host countries and back to their countries of origin as a kind of supplement to foreign aid.

Breitbart continues here.
Pay attention to this last issue above about remittances.  It is huge!
I remember when the Temporary Protected Status for Salvadorans was up for renewal under George W. Bush.  It was quickly renewed with his administration saying that the money the Salvadorans sent OUT OF THE US ECONOMY was propping up El Salvador (so we needed to continue doing that).
Guterres at RRW:
We followed Antonio Guterres here at RRW for a decade since he was previously the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (before moving up to top dog position at the UN).
Go here for my Guterres archive.
Just a reminder that in June of 2009, as UNHCR, he said it was sharia law that underpins international refugee law and United Nations refugee activities. See here:

New York, 23 June (AKI) – The 1,400-year-old Islamic custom of welcoming people fleeing persecution has had more influence on modern international refugee law than any other traditional source, according to a new study sponsored by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

High Commissioner Antonio Guterres said that more than any other historical source, Islamic law and tradition underpin the modern-day legal framework on which UNHCR bases its global activities on behalf of the tens of millions of people forced from their homes around the world.

Take that Christians and Jews! You thought Biblical Judeo-Christian charity predated Islam, silly you.

Trump Admin. will save a few bucks with smaller delegation to UN party in September

The United Nations holds its fall general assembly in September.  This is when ‘diplomats’ from all over the world come to New York for really what amounts to one big party on the town.

Ivanka had lunch on Friday with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Long time readers know Guterres as the former UN High Commissioner for Refugees who has been a leading proponent of moving Muslim refugees to the west. Did he lobby Ivanka on funding for the UN and for the US to ‘welcome’ more refugees? See my extensive archive on Guterres by going here: https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/?s=Antonio+Guterres

It is also a time when the UN has an opportunity to bash America (except for when Obama was prez).

Here we learn that to save money, the Trump Administration will be limiting the number of State Department and other DC bureaucrats who will be attending the confab on the taxpayers’ dime.

Not mentioned here, but just a reminder to readers, September will be the time of  Trump’s big test on the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program because according to the Kennedy/Carter Refugee Act of 1980, the President submits his annual ‘determination’ for the upcoming fiscal year to Congress.

Just about the time Trump speaks to the UN, he will have determined how many refugees will be admitted in the year beginning October 1 for FY18, and from what regions of the world they will come.

From AP at the Democrat Gazette:

The State Department plans to scale back its diplomatic presence at this year’s annual United Nations gathering of world leaders in September as a cost-saving initiative, according to four well-placed diplomatic sources. [Those leakers again?—ed]

For more than seven decades, American presidents from Harry Truman to Ronald Reagan to Barack Obama have attended the fall U.N. General Assembly general debate in New York to project their vision of American foreign policy to the world. They have been accompanied by a growing entourage of American diplomats, lawyers and technical experts who negotiate a wide range of issues, from nuclear arms treaties to climate change pacts and conflicts.

We are told that Obama and his entourage stayed at the New York Palace. Trump will go to his New Jersey golf club.

President Donald Trump does plan to address other world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly, and he will be accompanied by other top advisers, including his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and his daughter Ivanka Trump, who stopped by U.N. headquarters Friday for a private lunch with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

But the ranks of professional diplomats, aides and officials who attend the event to promote American policy priorities on a range of issues will be thinned out. For now, it remains unclear precisely how large of a cut in U.S. staff is envisioned, but two officials said the State Department is seeking to keep a ceiling down to about 300 people, including everyone from the president to support staff who schedule meetings and copy speeches.

[….]

The diplomatic culling is being enforced by Tillerson, the former ExxonMobil chief who has shown little interest in U.N. diplomacy during his first six months on the job. It comes at a time when the White House is seeking as much as a 30 percent cut in U.S. funding to the State Department and even deeper cuts in U.N. operations.

More here.

Will Donald Trump seek to cut the State Dept. budget by 30%? Will he cut even deeper in to the pile of money we give the UN? And, will he cut refugee numbers and seek to abolish or reform the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program?

Answers will come in September!

The nerve! UN Secretary General goes to Saudi Arabia and says "Islamophobia" to blame for world's worst violence

“Guterres is a perfect example of the unholy alliance between the secular Marxist left and the Islamists.”

(John Guandolo)

screenshot-305
Saudi Arabia welcomes NO refugees, even those who are Muslim.

Newly selected UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, went to a Muslim country that refuses to resettle Muslim refugees—Saudi Arabia—and said infidels are killed because they are instigating Islamic violence by practicing free speech!

From Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily.  Hohmann quotes Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, John Guandolo, Rep. Michele Bachmann, Phil Haney and me in his analysis of Guterres outrageous comments to the Saudi king:

The United Nations — under a new leader who personally oversaw the relocation of millions of Muslim refugees into the U.S., Canada and Europe — is doubling down on its “anti-Islamophobia” campaign against the West.

U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres, a Portuguese socialist who headed the U.N’s refugee agency before being promoted to secretary general in January, traveled to Saudi Arabia this week where he sat with Saudi royals and cited “Islamophobia” as the reason for increasing terrorism around the world.

guterres-evil
Guterres is the former UN High Commissioner for Refugees responsible for directing thousands of Muslim refugees to your towns.

“One of the things that fuel terrorism is the expression in some parts of the world of Islamophobic feelings and Islamophobic policies and Islamophobic hate speeches,” Guterres said at a joint news conference with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir. [You know he is aiming these comments at Donald Trump! If we have another deadly terrorist attack he is setting it up for the world to blame Trump!—ed]

Echoing the comments of Hillary Clinton in her 2016 presidential campaign, Guterres said Islamophobia actually helps the Islamic State or ISIS to attract new recruits.

But the way others see it, Guterres just gave a free pass to Islamic extremists to commit acts of terror throughout the world.

michele-bachmann
Former Rep. Michele Bachmann calls UN Sec. General the “jihadist’s advocate.” If you have forgotten, Senator John McCain attempted to destroy Bachmann in 2012 when she charged that the Muslim Brotherhood had infiltrated the Obama Administration. Today McCain is working to destroy President Trump. McCain is either senile or bought, in my opinion.

It’s a lot like blaming the victim, says Phillip Haney, an Islam specialist who worked for more than a decade at Homeland Security screening immigrants from Africa and the Middle East.

“So Mr. Guterres is telling you that Islamophobia is such a great crime that you will be killed for it and terrorists will rise up because of this and it will be your fault,” Haney told WND.

“Why? Because you are an Islamophobe. It’s your fault that they’re killing you,” he said. “What’s he saying if that’s not what he’s saying?”

[….]

“No other religion enjoys such protection from criticism,” Bachmann said. “Ironically, no other religion in current times has advanced more violence, carnage and bloodshed than Islam and yet Islam’s gatekeepers demand their religion not be criticized.

“We need to recognize this is nothing more than a well-designed strategy to achieve Islamic conquest and the U.N. Secretary General is now the jihadist’s advocate.”

[….]

Guandolo said Guterres is a perfect example of the unholy alliance between the secular Marxist left and the Islamists.

I’ve only snipped a small amount of a  detailed report, please go here to read it all.
See my Guterres archive here and don’t miss this 2009 post where Guterres credits Islam and Sharia Law for creating the idea of welcoming people who are persecuted.

Senator Lindsey Graham: Cut off UN funding!

sen-lindsey-graham-serious
Go Lindsey! Go! Cut them off!

Longtime readers know that the good Senator from South Carolina has not been a favorite here at RRW mostly because he has been an advocate for more Syrian refugees being admitted to the US.
However….
Maybe the despicable hit by the outgoing Obama Administration (including by UN Ambassador Samantha Power***) against Israel in the UN on the eve of the Jewish holiday (and Christmas!) is a blessing in disguise, and will be looked upon as a major turning point in our involvement with the world body (what a joke it is!).
We should all use this opportunity to pound the incoming Trump team to cut our ties with the increasingly pro-Islam United Nations.
Outgoing Secretary General Ban Ki-moon admitted in his farewell speech tens days ago that the UN had become disproportionately anti-Israel and it would hurt efforts going forward to forge peace.
I predict that the bias will be getting worse under the leadership of Antonio Guterres.

Remember that the UN is responsible for choosing the vast majority of our refugees! That is why the Syrians entering the US are virtually all Muslims! This is a perfect time to cut them off!

(If we are going to admit refugees to the US, there is no reason we can’t pick our own!)
From CNN yesterday:

(CNN)Sen. Lindsey Graham will propose a measure to pull US funding for the United Nations unless the UN Security Council repeals the resolution it passed condemning Israeli settlements.

“It’s that important to me,” he told CNN. “This is a road we haven’t gone down before. If you can’t show the American people that international organizations can be more responsible, there is going to be a break. And I am going to lead that break.”

[….]

He later told CNN’s Dana Bash that US funding accounts for 22% of the UN’s budget.

Trump has tapped South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to replace Samantha Power. Maybe Graham can lead the charge to cut funding and Haley can preside over the effort to disentangle the US from the world body!  Wouldn’t that be fun to watch!  And, it would surely rehabilitate their images for me!
***If you want to know more about pro-Palestinian Samantha Power (may she disappear from the world stage), just search her name here at RRW. We have followed her career since she was named ‘Iraqi refugee czar’ by Obama when he first entered the White House.  She and Hillary were all for the overthrow of Col. Qaddafi which has directly led to the massive invasion of Europe from No. Africa.

At least four (more!) reasons SC Governor Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador makes me nervous

nikki-haley-hinduIn addition to the fact that Haley snubbed constituents worried about the newly expanded refugee resettlement program when it arrived in South Carolina two years ago, here is an article in the Post & Courier (Charleston, SC) about Haley arriving in DC to meet with many on the Hill who will have to confirm her as Donald Trump’s Ambassador to the United Nations. The article contains a bunch of red flags for me!
See my previous post, here.
***Update*** December 11, 2016. Keeping up with all things Haley. One advisor tells her not to fall into Trump’s “nationalist trap.”  What the h***! She will be working for Trump, she better not stray off the reservation! See here.

Yikes! She will be in DC to get the annual award at the Kemp Leadership Award dinner.

Post & Courier:

He [deputy chief of staff] said she would already be in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to attend the Kemp Leadership Award Dinner.

Haley is receiving the conservative organization’s annual award in recognition of “exceptional leadership in public policy or private enterprise in advancing the American Idea.”

Kemp, conservative on economics, was an open borders advocate.  See here at VDARE in 2014 ‘The Strange Rebirth of Jack Kemp Republicanism.’

paul-ryan-with-jack-kemp
Be sure to see Ann Coulter: Save us from Paul Ryan and the Kemp boys! http://www.vdare.com/articles/ann-coulter-save-us-from-paul-ryan-and-the-kemp-boys

VDARE also tells us in that same article that Rep. Paul Ryan worked for a think-tank created to promote Kemp’s ideas and considered Kemp a mentor!

Rep. Paul Ryan is leading Republican efforts to pass Amnesty in the House of Representatives. Ryan actually worked for Kemp at Empower America (a now defunct and largely unremembered think-tank) and cites him as a mentor.

And, today! Haley is getting a big award in Kemp’s memory!

The Post & Courier goes on to report that she will visit with Tennessee Senator Bob Corker (Mr. Iran deal!) who (like Haley) has done nothing to slow the flow of refugees to his state and has also snubbed constituents concerned with the influx of Somali and other Muslim refugees to the state.

On Tuesday afternoon, Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said he anticipated talking with Haley in the days ahead.

“I had a very constructive conversation with her when she was appointed and look forward to talking to her this week,” Corker said.

Continuing with the report in the Post & Courier, we learn she is meeting with the man she really preferred as President, Senator Marco Rubio, who we know will forever be known as one of the Gang of Eight which attempted to get amnesty through Congress while Obama was President.

During her visit this week, she will likely meet with other members of the Foreign Relations Committee, including U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who Haley endorsed for president during the Republican primary. She could also drop in on the offices of some Democrats, such as the committee’s ranking member, U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland.

And, Cardin is about as far left as anyone in the Senate, what could she possibly say to him to make him not oppose her (that is what scares me, what will she say!).

marco-rubio-and-lindsey-graham-laughing-getty-640x420
Two Swamp Monster pals of Nikki Haley! Senators Rubio and Graham

And the final nail in her coffin from my point of view is her close relationship to Lindsey (Bring’em all in) Graham. In 2015, before Obama opened the Syrian floodgates, Graham was introducing legislation to do just that, see here.
Post & Courier continues:

Recently, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said he looked forward to introducing Haley to his colleagues when the time came for her to come to Washington to make the rounds.

So much for draining the swamp!
I admit Trump is a lot smarter than I am, but I still don’t get this pick for the United Nations, unless reining-in the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program is NOT a top agenda item.
If Trump wanted a woman, two tough loyal candidates come to mind: Gov. Sarah Palin and former Rep. Michele Bachmann, who would not have taken one second of politically-correct crap from the likes of Antonio Guterres. Or, any pressure from the all powerful Organization of Islamic Cooperation!
One of my readers suggested this job is a “nothingburger” job, and I respectfully disagree!
We will be keeping a close watch on Turtle Bay when Haley gets there.
