Starbucks awarding grants to other coffee companies to train refugee baristas

Jobs Americans won’t do?

I guess we can conclude that there are no Americans, no low-skilled citizens, looking to brew up your morning coffee.

Here is an idea!  Get your own coffee maker and do your brewing at  home!

By the way, I had a huge number of readers, here and at twitter when I posted about Breitbart’s TB and Starbucks story here last week.

This story tells us that a successful effort to train refugee baristas will depend on whether a lot of refugees are being placed in your city and whether lots of people are patronizing coffee shops.

“Opportunity for All” grant? Sounds more like “Only refugees need apply” grant!

From The Daily Californian:

Berkeley’s 1951 Coffee Company has been awarded the “Opportunity for All” grant by the Starbucks Foundation, allowing it to expand its barista training program for refugees to other cities in the United States.

The antidote: Make your own coffee at home! (LOL! I’m not affiliated with or promoting any particular coffee machine manufacturer!)

The grant awards the coffee company $63,000 to serve an additional 85 refugees, asylees and Special Immigrant Visa holders, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the company.

1951 Coffee was one of 41 nonprofit organizations selected by the Starbucks Foundation because of its approach to helping refugees obtain the skills required to succeed in a “rapidly changing global economy,” the press release stated.

Doug Hewitt, co-founder of 1951 Coffee, said he and co-founder Rachel Taber were very pleased to learn that the nonprofit had been approved for the grant. According to Hewitt, the grant will allow the company’s two-week barista training program in Oakland — which takes place every other month — to increase its services to monthly.

Hewitt added that, in terms of expansion, 1951 Coffee is looking to first take its training program to San Diego. Depending on how that effort goes, the nonprofit will decide where else to take the program.

According to Hewitt, in order for a city to have potential for expansion, it must have a refugee population being resettled there, as well as a strong coffee industry.

Imperial Beach, CA mayor withdraws from "Welcoming City" program

This just goes to show what a handful of citizens can do when they put their minds to it!  In California, no less! citizens learned that their mayor and council had signed a “Welcoming cities” proclamation last month.

Having none of it, the citizens pushed back and just yesterday, the Mayor rescinded the proclamation.  Hat tip: Brenda.
Here is one news story at KUSI News two days ago.

IMPERIAL BEACH (KUSI) — The mayor of Imperial Beach is under attack. A small group of people are accusing him of inviting refugees with an official proclamation.

The mayor himself is a little shocked. He believes it’s a big misunderstanding.

It may be a laid back little beach town, but Imperial Beach suddenly finds itself in the middle of an international hot topic.

Last month, Mayor Serge Dedina issued a proclamation, declaring Imperial Beach to be a “Welcoming City.”

The “Welcoming Communities” program is an Obama initiative intended to resettle large numbers of refugees from Syria, the rest of the Middle East and Latin America in cities and towns across America as part of his “fundamental transformation.”

At the time, Mayor Dedina thought it was pretty harmless, but some people believe it goes deeper than that.

They’re suspicious that the words, “welcoming city,” is another way of saying, “sanctuary city.”

No sense wandering in the weeds regarding the definitions because for the average American it is pretty much the same thing!  Welcoming cities are sanctuary cities and vice versa.
Yesterday, the mayor put out this press release:

California World Relief refugee contractor lets cat out of bag: next year 20,000-30,000 Syrians will arrive

And, no doubt they will be at least 95% Syrian Sunni Muslims.

When the Obama Administration went to Congress last week with its official “determination” for FY2017 which begins in 11 days (on October 1) and said that they want 110,000 refugees from all over the world admitted in FY17, they very pointedly made no mention of how many Syrians would be in that huge flow.
But, here, at the end of a story about the cost of educating refugees in California, a World Relief spokesman tells us what they all know on the inside (but are keeping secret from you!). (Hat tip: Joanne)

Early indicators suggest the U.S. is going to see more Syrian refugees next year–probably between 20,000 and 30,000,” Kirt Lewis, director of the Sacramento field office for World Relief, said in an interview. “As a rule of thumb, about 10 percent of those will end up settling in Northern California, and especially in Sacramento.”

To heck with Obama, it is the Republican Congress that will be responsible if this happens because they control the purse strings.  Contractors like World Relief have virtually NO MONEY unless they have yours—your taxpayer dollars!

Testimony to the US State Department from California reader: our ship is sinking

Editor: This is another copy of testimony submitted in response to my offer to post testimony that readers have sent, or are sending, to the US State Department before May 19th.  Your testimony can be long or short, more detailed or less so.  Just send something!  And, then be sure to copy it to your elected officials.

From California reader:

To Whom It May Concern;

I am opposed to any expansion of the refugee population in this country. I think the seeding of refugees leads to more trouble on Americans who are already overburdened by crime, over population caused by expanding refugee, illegal immigrants and illegal immigrant’s births. Besides crime and a drain on taxpayers for free programs and the like, the sprawl of the settlements has drastically reduced the productive acreage necessary to support our crops.

Too many passengers will sink a ship. The great America our ancestors struggled to create is near sinking. Stop the flood of refugees and illegal immigrants. Everyone would do better to receive our aid while they remain in their own countries and NOT here!

This is the fourth testimony in our series  leading up to the deadline for testimony on May 19th.  Go here for where they are archived. We are posting as many as we can because we know the US State Department has refused in the past to make them public (so much for Obama transparency!).

In wake of CA terror attack, our readers in Redlands obviously had reason for concern

By now you know that the killers in San Bernardino were a Muslim husband and wife team who were killed in a gun battle a few hours after the mass murder—Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik.  Their home (some reports say it was booby-trapped) was in Redlands according to the LA Times.
Hours after the terror attack, CAIR Los Angeles came out to distance themselves from what has all the earmarks of a carefully-planned Islamic terror attack (although the media is dancing around calling it that!).

Hussam Ayloush
About six weeks ago, CAIR Director Hussam Ayloush said Tea Party citizens were bigoted and paranoid to fear more Muslim migration to California. Last night he was “praying” for the victims of the latest Islamic terror attack.

We’ve told you about citizens’ concern about more Muslim migration to Redlands here in October!

We don’t know yet how Farook came to be living in Redlands (there are reports that he was born in America to immigrant parents), but officials there scoffed at concerns voiced by Victoria Hargrave who asked her town council to block Muslim refugee resettlement in Redlands.   From our post on Redlands, Hargrave told the council:

Our biggest concern is the safety of our family, our children and our grandchildren,” Victoria Hargrave of Redlands Townhall said the council on Tuesday.

After Hargrave’s plea to the council she was blasted by CAIR Los Angeles Director, Hussam Ayloush, who called her remarks bigoted and rooted in paranoia as we reported here.

Victoria Hargrave of Redlands Townhall said on Wednesday that our nation is based on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and we value freedom of speech, freedom of religion and property rights as protected by the Constitution. She said Muslims reject these values and are coming to America to impose Sharia law.

“This paranoia and phobia is rooted in a combination of ignorance and bigotry,” said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and chairman of the Syrian American Council in a telephone interview Wednesday about the Redlands tea party concerns.

Now, Hussam Ayloush is at the microphones “praying” for the victims and distancing his religion from the latest slaughter.
We have been for decades admitting Muslim migrants and learning that the second generation is being radicalized (they become more devout!). Sadly there is no sign of an end in sight now that the Muslim numbers have become so high.
Send us updates and we will post some of those at this post.   We want to know what nationality Farook and Malik were, Pakistani? What legal immigration program brought his parents to America?  What mosque did he attend?  Where did he connect with Malik? Did they have support from ISIS?

Action Alert:  Call your members of the House and Senate at 202-224-3121 and ask them to vigorously oppose the Refugee Resettlement funding contained in the Omnibus Spending Bill that will be voted on by 12-11-15! Please call by this Friday, Dec. 4th
