Refugee Resettlement contractors find new House bill "offensive" (blah, blah, blah)

Of course, what else do you expect.  They will never admit that the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program is flawed and should be reformed because their whole livelihoods depend on it continuing exactly like it is with their phony non-profit organizations almost completely funded by you, the taxpayer.
They want you to keep paying for their ‘religious’ charity, but leave them alone to run their ‘businesses’ and their ‘clients’ their way—the way they have been since their hero Teddy Kennedy pushed the bill that became the Refugee Act of 1980 through Congress.

I find it “offensive” that as a taxpayer I pay McCullough’s salary! CWS CEO Rev. John L. McCullough arrested at the White House in 2014 while protesting for amnesty for illegal aliens. These are not ‘churches’ but are Leftwing community organizers. McCullough pulls down a handsome six-figure salary partially funded by US taxpayers to do his NO borders political activities. I told you about the bill they are all worked up about here, yesterday, but it’s hard for me to get excited about it because it strikes me as window dressing too late in the legislative calendar to be meaningful.
And, with Obama in the White House there is no way it will ever become law.  If by a miracle it passed both the House and the Senate, would the leadership even have the guts to send it to Obama, I doubt it.
It will be interesting to see if these same Congressional leaders push any measure to reform the refugee program if Donald Trump should be in the White House in 2017.  And, at that point, do we want the pro-cheap labor pushers, the water-carriers for the Chamber of Commerce, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, ‘reforming’ it when Trump will have the power to cut it back himself?
All that said, it is always fun to watch the contractors whine and moan as they did in a conference call with reporters as we learned from CNS News (emphasis is mine):

…..during a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, opponents of the legislation called it “punitive” and “mean-spirited”, and claimed it would “dismantle the U.S. refugee program.”

“It ties the hands of the U.S. government to respond to humanitarian crises,” said Melanie Nezer, vice president for policy and advocacy at HIAS (formerly the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society), who criticized provisions in the bill that would strip refugee status from those who return to their home country and extends by two years the time period for refugees to be eligible to apply for permanent resident status “for no legitimate reason,” she said.

Melanie Nezer Syrians
I find it “mean-spirited” that Melanie Nezer wants to subject your community to refugees from countries that hate us—she was among the first to demand Obama admit 100,000 Syrians this year in spite of an FBI warning.

Nezer also objected to prioritizing “certain religious minorities” which, she said, would “hinder our ability to take in anybody.”

The bill “clearly discriminates against Muslims as the intended target,” said Rev. John McCullough, a United Methodist minister from New Jersey and president of Church World Service, which resettled 14,228 refugees from sub-Saharan Africa in the U.S. in FY2014, according to its website.

Church World Service head honcho, THE Reverend John McCullough finds it “offensive” that you, citizens in towns across America, should have any say in who they seed into your towns.

CNS continues…..

McCullough told reporters that he finds it “offensive” that under the bill, states and localities would be allowed to “determine who is welcome” instead of the federal government.

“This is very contrary to everything our country represents,” he said. “We have to call on the moral courage of Congress to reject this anti-refugee legislative proposal.”

P.S. Melanie Nezer authored a report, here, which urged the Southern Poverty Law Center to go after this blog (and me!) to try to expose us and silence us for disagreeing with her.

Jewish refugee contractor, HIAS, goes to the Hill (to lobby for more refugees and more $$$)

Last week when we were all busy paying attention to the upcoming South Carolina primary and chuckling over the Pope sticking his nose in the 2016 Election process, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society was on Capitol Hill along with the other major federal resettlement contractors looking for approval and $$$ for more refugees (paying clients!) to resettle.
From HIAS website (hat tip: Joanne):

Rachel Nusbaum
Rachel Nusbaum is HIAS communication specialist, see here at Linked in: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rachelnusbaum

Today, instead of heading to the HIAS offices, I flagged down a cab and asked him to take me somewhere different. Capitol Hill, please. Senate side. [What, no subway? Are you using taxpayer money for your cab ride too?—ed]

[….]

I am on Capitol Hill right now along with not only other HIAS staff but with representatives from many of the top NGOs working on refugee issues. We’re here, pounding the pavement and filling the halls of the various House and Senate office buildings, for two days of intense advocacy organized by Refugee Council USA***, a coalition of 20 U.S.-based refugee protection NGOs.

Bringing in the “vulnerable” (and costly) ‘refugees’ (medical care for US taxpayers to pay for!):

Why is resettlement so important? Most refugees will remain in the country to which they first fled, until they are able to return to their home country. Only a very small number, about one percent, will be resettled to a third country. This small group is made up of the most vulnerable refugees, those who remain at risk even after fleeing their home country. This includes unaccompanied children, survivors of torture, LGBT refugees and people requiring medical attention not available to them in their host country. With so few resettlement spots and so many refugees, however, the need for resettlement far exceeds current availability.

It is maddening to know that, according to USA Spending.gov, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society received over $134 million from you since Obama took office, and HIAS, Inc. (its new name) has raked in another $58 million in that same time frame.  Are they lobbying on Capitol Hill on your dime? I bet they are!

***Refugee Council USA is the lobbying arm for the refugee industry.

We told you about them on many previous occasions. They supported the resettlement of 65,000 Syrians to your towns this year. Then subsequently upped the number to 100,000.
As we told you here last September, they have a lobbying kit in which they call-out RRW!  HIAS also authored a report urging that I be investigated (among others) by the Southern Poverty Law Center, see here.
This is from their grassroots lobbying kit:

Anti-Refugee Sentiment

Utilizing anti-immigrant and anti-Muslilm sentiment, individuals who oppose refugee resettlement are making their voices heard louder and more frequently to policy makers. Groups like Refugee Resettlement Watch and similar local groups are calling for an end to refugee resettlement altogether, moratoriums on arrivals to their areas, and fostering unwelcoming atmospheres for newcomers. It is critical that policy makers at local, state and national levels hear from refugees themselves and community members who support refugee resettlement, so they can ask questions, learn more about the importance of resettlement, support positive legislation and oppose proposals that would harm refugees.

Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society hires grassroots organizer to get American Jews' minds right

Her job is to organize the American Jewish community to “welcome the stranger,” in this case Muslims from the Middle East and Africa (because they have run out of Jews and Christians to resettle).

jennierosenn
HIAS grassroots organizer/lobbyist Rabbi Jennie Rosenn. http://www.hias.org/leadership/rabbi-jennie-rosenn

The Times of Israel has a very lengthy story on their new Vice President Rabbi Jennie Rosenn.   I encourage you to read it because it is very informative, but was virtually impossible to snip for some reason.
Rabbi Rosenn’s job is to try to bring around the American Jewish community to support Muslim refugee admission to the US.  The article says that some Jews (understandably!) got skittish after the Paris and San Bernardino terrorist attacks.
And, then they have to counter the likes of us (bigots, racists and nativists).
Here are just a few things new readers need to know about the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (they want to be called HIAS):

  • In 2013 they received a grant from the JM Kaplan Fund to write a $35,000 report about us.
  • They advocate sending the goons at the Southern Poverty Law Center after us!  Click here.
  • They lobbied hard for so-called “comprehensive immigration reform” (aka Gang of Eight bill) in the Senate.
  • In 2014, they re-branded and dropped the word “Hebrew” from their title and are known only as HIAS or HIAS Inc. now (what was that all about?).
  • Here we learn that they don’t want money and supplies for Syrians, they want the American Jewish community to lobby for more refugees to be brought to America.
  • They want 100,000 Syrians in here by the time Obama leaves office!
  • HIAS (no friend of Netanyahu) blasts Israel for attempting to close its borders and deport illegal aliens, here.
  • As one of nine major federal resettlement contractors*** they receive millions of your tax dollars every year to do this work.   From USASpending.gov: Under the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society they received just short of $135 MILLION from the US taxpayer since 2007, and then when you search HIAS there is another $59 MILLION there in grants and sub-grants.
  • They could not be doing this work without YOUR money.

***The contractors

Today and tomorrow! Call Congress! You are flooding them!

How do we know?

The other day we told you that the nine major federal resettlement contractors have put in motion a massive campaign to make sure they can continue to flood your towns with refugees and collect their paychecks!  One of the nine is the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society which has instructions on contacting your member of Congress and US Senators.

Melanie Nezer
Melanie Nezer of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society must be sweating it today….

Here are their instructions.  It appears the appeal is broad (and not just aimed at the Safe Act) as had been previously the focus of their attention—they seem to ‘get-it’ that the funding for the entire refugee admissions program could be in jeopardy.
But, what I want you to know is that they have a feedback page so that their people can report what they learn when calling Congressional offices.  And, get this!  Their top day was November 18th when 105 people reported in, yesterday only 2 reported.
But, check this out!  From comments at HIAS website:

Senator Perdue: Parker, who answered the phone, said that Senator Perdue firmly opposed the resettlement of any Syrian refugees in Georgia; they received 7,000 calls yesterday in opposition to the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Georgia and my call at 1:53 pm today was the first call they received in favor of the refugee program.

So, if you think your calls don’t matter, you are wrong!  They have never been challenged like this! Mention the Syrians in your calls, but it’s the funding for the program you should focus on!

Action Alert:  Call your members of the House and Senate at 202-224-3121 and ask them to vigorously oppose the Refugee Resettlement funding contained in the Omnibus Spending Bill that will be voted on by 12-11-15! Please call by this Friday, Dec. 4th.

About Nezer:  Way back in early 2014, Nezer was the first to call for a huge number of Syrians to be admitted to the US. HIAS is now pushing for 100,000 mostly Muslim Syrians to be resettled in your towns and cities.

HIAS: "….most critical action we will ever ask you to take"

HIAS is the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and they are lobbying hard against the so-called “Safe Act” that may (or may not) be taken up by the Senate.

Hetfield Judiciary Committee
Mark Hetfield, Pres and CEO of HIAS is telling open borders activists that this is the most important threat to their plans, probably since the Refugee Act was passed in 1980. In my opinion, it’s not the ‘Safe Act,’ they should worry about, it is that public opinion is turning on the whole notion of third worlders being admitted en masse to America.

As I said earlier this morning and over the weekend—-they (the Left, the No Borders agitators, the resettlement contractors, Obama) have never been so threatened by a public relations backlash against the entire refugee resettlement apparatus and their taxpayer-funded livelihoods as they have post-Paris.
However, you and I know the “Safe Act” (which passed the House before the Thanksgiving recess) is only a diversionary measure to make us feel good—that our safety matters—but will never amount to much as the Obama Administration will simply declare that they have fully complied and screening is secure.
Nevertheless…..
This is what HIAS (one of nine major federal contractors) is saying in an action alert this morning.  If you are a reader more concerned with illegal immigration, know that HIAS was a leading organizer in support of the Gang of Eight Amnesty bill a few years ago.   They are for more immigration legal or illegal!

Tell Your Senators to Keep the Door Open for Refugees

Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on email Share on print

This is one of the most critical actions we will ever ask you to take.

The House of Representatives recently voted to pass legislation that could severely restrict refugee admissions into the United States. The “America SAFE Act” goes against our basic principles of welcoming the stranger and helping those in need. It would add layers of red tape — but no real security enhancements — to a program that is already effectively screening for security.

As the Senate prepares to debate similar anti-refugee legislation, they need to hear the voices of supporters of refugee resettlement. Send a message to your Senators now urging them to keep the door open for refugees.

Now, go here and see the text of the message they want their followers to send to US Senators.
I continue to be perplexed why a Jewish organization is so eager to admit mostly Muslim Syrians!
