As Trump shrinks refugee program, twenty offices will be closed

Warning! Although this is news you will find valuable, especially if you live near one of the soon-to-be-closed resettlement sites, remember that this is temporary and when Trump is no longer in the White House, the refugee industry will go in to high gear to make up for what they will call the lost Trump years!
In order for that not to happen, CONGRESS must dump or reform the Refugee Act of 1980!
Reuters is reporting the impending closure of 20 offices.
Demonstrating that elections have consequences, it was only in 2016 that the State Department was on a high attempting to add about 47 offices to their roster of resettlement towns and cities. Now this….

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Refugee resettlement agencies*** are preparing to shutter more than 20 offices across the United States and cut back operations in more than 40 others after the State Department told them to pare their operations, according to plans seen by Reuters.

Hans van de weerd facebook — It should come as no surprise to you that refugee contractor employees like Hans here also support illegal aliens getting amnesty. It isn’t about humanitarian concern for refugees, but is about flooding America with immigrants, like Hans himself.

The slated closures, which are being reviewed by the State Department for final approval, follow President Donald Trump’s decision to dramatically reduce the number of refugees that will be allowed into the United States in 2018.

The State Department has said the drop in refugee numbers, from the 110,000 ceiling set by the Obama administration to 45,000 for 2018, means the country no longer needs all of the 324 resettlement offices that were operating at the end of 2017. This year’s cap on refugees is the lowest since 1980.

The offices, run by private non-profit agencies that contract with the U.S. government, provide a range of services to refugees, from assisting them in finding housing and jobs, to helping them navigate banking, medical care, school enrollment and other complexities of life in America. [Complexities=getting their welfare!—ed]

Opponents of the resettlement program say it is more costly to resettle refugees in the United States than it is to give aid to displaced people overseas.

“The changes will consolidate smaller affiliates, reduce costs and simplify management structures to help the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program run in a way that is fiscally responsible and sustainable in the long term,” State Department spokeswoman Cheryl Harris said in an email.

While the size of the U.S. refugee program has fluctuated over the years, it has never seen an across-the-board cut to dozens of offices in such a short period of time, he said.

Van de Weerd said the cuts could make it difficult for the United States to ramp up refugee numbers in the future. “It took years to build up this capacity,” he said. “Once you break it down it’s not easy to build it up again.”

Miliband in Manhattan — British national and one-worlder, IRC CEO David Miliband, pulls down an annual salary package of $671,749 (doing well by doing good!).

The contractor is the International Rescue Committee with Moneybags Miliband at its helm.
But, what is so interesting is that Moneybags isn’t quoted in their press release yesterday in which they denounce the Trump Administration’s FY19 budget as “counterproductive and misguided.”
It will cut their funding dramatically because the IRC not only places refugees in your towns and cities, they are operating all over the world supposedly doing ‘humanitarian’ work that they say benefits American foreign policy.
Could Miliband be on the way back to the UK?
Will he be taking a pay cut if he stays?

Here is some of the press statement from the IRC yesterday in response to the release of the President’s FY19 budget:

New York, NY, February 12, 2018 — Today the Trump Administration put forward its Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) budget request – echoing last year’s attempt to drastically cut humanitarian assistance, development aid, and refugee resettlement programs.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) denounces the Trump administration’s proposed cuts as counterproductive and misguided. Rather than putting America First, it threatens both America’s values and our interests by crippling a vital component of US foreign policy at a time of increased challenges to global security and stability, and great humanitarian need.

Nazanin Ash (left), IRC Veep, at Clinton Global Initiative, is quoted in the IRC’s statement rather than Moneybags. Miliband usually takes top billing in media statements. Hmmmm? On the Trump budget she said: “For the second year in a row, the Administration has proposed cuts to foreign aid that endanger lives.” (and salaries!)

The FY19 Budget Request proposes a 30% cut to the International Affairs Budget from Fiscal Year 2017 levels, including a 43% cut to development assistance, a 23% cut to global health programs, and a 19% cut to humanitarian assistance.

Now is not the time to abandon America’s bipartisan commitment to the world’s most vulnerable.

The request also proposes a 26% reduction to programs that serve newly and recently arrived refugees, asylees, and Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) recipients from Iraq and Afghanistan. Refugee resettlement has a long bipartisan history reflecting long-held American values – the IRC has been offering refuge to families fleeing war and oppression for over 80 years.

Reduced funding would not only impede the ability of refugees to access fundamental services like ESL and job training and contribute economically to their communities, it would also slash federal funding that goes to states and localities that receive refugees. [The feds are supposed to be paying for the whole refugee program in your state—ed]

Then here comes their favorite meaningless mumbo-jumbo that is supposed to make you willingly open your wallets wide:

Helping the world’s most vulnerable is rooted in America’s values and traditions as a beacon of peace and democracy. [Surprise! The word ‘vulnerable’ used only twice in this release.—ed]

More here. No mention of the financial hit they will surely take!
By the way, Ash does not appear as one of the top salaried employees on the IRC’s most recent Form 990 (here) although from reading biographical information it seems she was on staff for that year. Wow! take a look at those salaries you help pay! (You should find them on page 16.)

That would be Charlottesville, Virginia.
When I saw the story headline at something called The Daily Progress, I initially wasn’t going to bother reading the Op-Ed by Harriet Kuhr because I figured anything with Daily Progress in it would be some commie publication.
It is, in fact, the sole daily newspaper in the Charlottesville area, and the International Rescue Committee is the only federal resettlement contractor working to change that portion of Virginia.

But, I’m glad I read it because opinion writer and International Rescue Committee‘s face in that city, Harriet Kuhr, has an important factual error that I see repeated by the Open Borders Left whenever they get a chance.
They say that Ronald Reagan is responsible for the Refugee Act of 1980. It just ain’t so.
He presided over it during its first year (as it admitted thousands escaping Communism), but it was the brainchild of Senator Ted Kennedy (who else!) and it was signed in to law by Jimmy Carter (who else!). See here March 18,1980. (It was 8 months later that Reagan whipped Carter by winning the Presidency.)
And, just so you know, when these Leftists try to make the program sound like it was a bipartisan effort they are spinning like tops. See the list of co-sponsors to the Kennedy bill (not exactly a balanced group):

So here is what Harriet is trying to sell to the good citizens of Charlottesville at The Daily Progress:

It is the bar that sets the standard for other resettlement programs; an effort above party politics that enshrined the core common values of our nation to tackle global problems right here: that families ought to be together; that our children should have a better future than we had; that hard work, persistence, strength, and character would be treasured in our great land. [Our children means something very different to me!—ed]

Ronald Reagan began this tradition, and his successors strengthened it. They understood that it supported our global leadership and national safety, and it stoked a humanitarian tradition, an entrepreneurial spirit, and collective economic success. [What a load of mumbo-jumbo!—ed]

This tradition is something we at IRC see come alive every day, thanks to the talented and resilient people we, and the Charlottesville community, have the opportunity to work with.

And, I will continue to repeat: as long as taxpayers pay for fake non-profit groups like these to distribute refugees around the country and then to politically organize against us (who disagree with them), the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program will never be reformed.

This story represents one of my major reasons for writing RRW for the last 10 years.

The do-gooders want ever-greater numbers of refugees admitted to the US despite the fact that many will live in poverty while many of the CEOs of the major resettlement agencies are raking in large 6-figure salaries.

Damn it! If you ‘humanitarians’ care so much for the world’s downtrodden, why do you need to be making salaries in excess of $200,000, $300,000, $500,000 largely funded by the US Treasury?

And, readers, it isn’t refugees like these in Utah that should be criticized or castigated (they were sold a bill of goods), it is the refugee industry (the globalists) that obviously turns a blind eye to the refugees they brought in previous years.

Instead of admitting only the number of refugees communities can afford or otherwise accommodate, the nine contractors*** always want more. Why?

Because the newly arriving refugees bring-in money by the head to the resettlement agency and that is the primary reason they are so angry at Trump. He has reduced the number of their paying “clients.”

For new readers, back in 2013, here, Obama’s State Department said it would help clean out UN camps in Africa by bringing 50,000 from the DR Congo to Anytown, USA. We may have already exceeded that number.

When he felt hopeless, the Bible’s words lifted him up and renewed his faith that God had a plan for him. He prayed that the Lord would deliver his family to America.

If he ever made it there, he imagined, he would have a home of his own with a large backyard, where he could tend a garden and watch his children play.

Instead, this is Ngunza’s reality: He lives in a tiny, roach-infested apartment with his wife and 11 children. His job slicing meat at a local deli pays just above minimum wage, which barely covers his monthly rent, and leaves him precious little to feed and clothe his family.

Instead of dreams, these days Ngunza only has fears – that he won’t be able to provide for his family’s basic needs and still keep a roof over their head.

“Just like in the camp,” he says, “I feel trapped all over again.”

Where are you Senator Mike Lee? Why don’t you take the lead and call for an investigation of the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program!

On its face, the resettlement program is a feel-good story, a symbol of America’s commitment as a global citizen, and for refugees, the epitome of the American Dream.

Utah is the only state that allocates funding for resettlement agencies – the International Rescue Committee and Catholic Community Services – to offer case management services for a full two-year period. During this time, they provide refugees with job training, housing placement and English language lessons, and more, all with the goal of helping refugees reach self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.

Nevertheless, despite the best of intentions, the Deseret News has found that many refugees are living well below the poverty line. Some are facing eviction. Others have become homeless.

In part, that’s because it is very difficult for arriving refugees to find jobs that pay a living wage and housing they can afford.

It is not the Mormon church doing the resettling in Utah, it is Catholic Charities and the International Rescue Committee (IRC is headed by David Miliband, a Brit, who pulls down a cool $500,000 plus a year salary).

Aiden Batar, director of Migration and Refugee Services at Catholic Community Services, says he does not know how many refugees in Utah are homeless or living in poverty. Neither does Poulin with the International Rescue Committee. [Of course they don’t—see no evil!….–ed]

At the Road Home shelter, the Deseret News met a Congolese refugee family of 11 evicted from their apartment three months ago who have been unable to find another place to live. At an apartment complex in South Salt Lake, a single mother named Feliz, also from the Congo, has been unemployed for two months after losing her job as a maid at a downtown hotel, and she has struggled to find other work.

“Life got harder for me when I came to America,” says Feliz. “I constantly worry that I will be evicted and my family will end up on the street. Most of the time, I wish I could go back to the refugee camp in Africa.”

Dear Donald, maybe it’s time for that repatriation fund we talked about years ago. Set up financing for unhappy refugees to go home! LOL! take it out of the salaries of the top executives of the refugee industry!

What you can do! If you live in Utah (or otherwise have contact with the Senator), call on Senator Mike Lee to launch an investigation!

The Spokeman-Review wants you to know that Hussein Hassan was just a nut. Which of course begs the question—do we screen incoming refugees for mental illness? The answer appears to be NO!

I probably wouldn’t bother posting this story meant to get you to ‘move along, nothing to see’ except for the fact that once again we see that Tyson Foods is a draw for refugee resettlement agencies to place their refugees as cheap laborers in meatpacking plants.

(See my previous post on the incident not reported by national media too busy with Charlottesville.)

We also learn here that it was the giant International Rescue Committee*** that placed Hussein Hassan with wife and EIGHT kids (taxpayers are responsible for!) in the proximity of Tyson Foods.

When Officer Jason Kiel found him on Olympia Street about 6:30 p.m., Hussein Hassan reportedly charged him, hitting him several times in the head. Officer Joshua Kuhn arrived next and both officers drew their guns and fired.

In the small community of Somali immigrants in the Tri-Cities, the father of eight was a well known, though a volatile, fixture, said Abdrahman Hassan, who owns a Kennewick grocery store.

“I think a lot of people in the Tri-Cities, they know this guy,” he told the Herald.

Abdrahman Hassan said he didn’t know how long Hassan had been in the U.S. but knew he brought his family to the Tri-Cities about five years ago after the International Rescue Committee Seattle helped move him to Tukwila in 2010.

Hussein Hassan spent a year in Pasco, before moving into a Sixth Avenue apartment in Kennewick.

He worked at Tyson Foods and then ConAgra before losing his job. He fell twice in a freezer tunnel at the Richland plant and hurt his back, according to documents he filed in a Benton County court.

His small claims court suit against his supervisor, claiming discrimination because he was Muslim, was ultimately dismissed. It’s unclear if he again found work.

Last October, his troubles worsened.

Someone called police because his wife reportedly was damaging a neighbor’s car.

*** For new readers, the International Rescue Committee is one of the Federal contractors/middlemen/employment agencies/propagandists/lobbyists/community organizers? paid by you to place refugees in your towns and cities listed below. Under the nine major contractors are hundreds of subcontractors.

The contractors income is largely dependent on taxpayer dollars based on the number of refugees admitted to the US, but they also receive myriad grants to service their “New Americans.”

If you are a good-hearted soul and think refugee resettlement is all about humanitarianism, think again! Big businesses/global corporations like Tyson Foods depend on the free flow of cheap (some call it slave) labor.

The only way for real reform of how the US admits refugees is to remove these contractors/Leftwing activists/big business head hunters from the process.
