El Cajon again! Refugee contractor accused of skirting housing rules when placing large families

Sheesh! A few minutes ago we told you about the huge US refugee contractor—the IRC—working with Starbucks to find refugee employees to make your morning coffees in the San Diego area, and up pops more news (not good news!) about the IRC there.

https://www.rescue.org/united-states/san-diego-ca

This sort of news will result in a cry for more start-up money for refugees.  It will never result in formal questions being asked by Congress about whether we are bringing in more refugees than we can afford!

From KPBS San Diego:

Three large refugee families that a local nonprofit helped resettle at an El Cajon apartment complex are being asked to move because they have too many people living in their homes.

Uh-oh!

They came forward after KPBS aired an investigation nearly two weeks ago about other refugee families who said the same resettlement agency — the International Rescue Committee in San Diego — put them into too-small apartments by encouraging them to sign leases that omitted the names of some occupants.

IRC’s national office in New York has said it is investigating the recent claims made by refugees. In an email Tuesday, a spokesman said the office is aware of the new cases, which it is also looking into, “and is supporting our clients through their next steps.”

What say you, David? IRC CEO David Miliband giving George Soros their highest award in 2013. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2013/11/09/federal-refugee-contractor-gives-freedom-award-to-george-soros/

The three families, who moved into their two-bedroom apartments last year, said they received the 30-day notices to vacate a day after KPBS’s story was published on July 27. A manager for the complex, which is under new ownership, said only five people are allowed in a two-bedroom apartment. Two of the families have eight members, while another has seven.

Lalmir Hamdard, a refugee from Afghanistan who arrived here in September, said he relied on an IRC translator to help him sign the English-language lease. A copy of the document provided to KPBS showed five names on the lease instead of all eight members of his family.

“At the time, I didn’t understand it in English — even my daughters with little English didn’t understand,” he said in Farsi through a translator. “I only understood that it said here, ‘Write this, sign here, do this.’ And I did.”

Two neighboring Syrian families who speak Arabic shared similar stories. They would have to find a three-bedroom apartment, which would be more expensive, and they are already having trouble keeping up with rent on their two-bedroom units. However, even a larger apartment may not be big enough depending on a complex’s policy.

More here.

Nice to see some real investigative journalism for a change, but reporter needs to ask….

Where is the US State Department that oversees agreements with its contractors (the IRC is one of nine that contracts with the federal government to place refugees) which surely include rules about how many tenants are in each apartment or house?

We have a huge archive on the IRC and its head honcho—David Miliband—here. Go here to see my latest financial  accounting for the IRC.

Hungarian Prime Minister calls out George Soros in state of the nation speech

“It’s hard to think of any citizen of the world who would have done more to deserve the award.”

(Former President Bill Clinton upon presenting Soros with the IRC’s “Freedom Award” in 2013)

The incomparable bloggers at 100% Fed Up ask, when will American political leaders expose Soros’ huge impact in directing America’s political landscape through hundreds of groups funded by the Hungarian-born George Soros?
The answer is not likely soon since even Republican leaders are lapping up his money—see Breitbart here earlier this month: ‘Records: Soros Fund Execs Funded Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, John McCain, John Kasich, Lindsey Graham in 2016.’
Refugees are Soros’ invasion army!
Here is 100% Fed Up:

Will anyone [in] our US government call out and expose the effect 187 radical organizations directly funded by leftist George Soros have on our nation?

orban-and-soros
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban goes after Soros in state of the nation address. Hey Prez. Trump, invite Orban to White House! Send a message that nationalists stick together to defeat globalists!

When will our elected officials start exposing his influence Soros’ large tentacles have on influencing the Democrat Party and anarchist groups in America, leading to riots and unrest by paid protesters in America?

Will the world continue to cower when it comes to the secret dealings of radical globalist George Soros, who is fighting for open-borders in Europe and in the US? Or will we start to really expose him by openly discussing his actions and revealing the truth about his “seemingly benign” organizations like one brave Hungarian prime minister is doing?

Hungary’s populist prime minister on Friday lashed out against billionaire financier George Soros, claiming he and groups backed by him want to secretly influence the country’s politics.

In his annual state of the nation speech, Viktor Orban said groups partly funded by Soros, who was born in Hungary, needed to be made transparent and identifiable.

“Large-bodied predators are swimming here in the waters. This is the trans-border empire of George Soros, with tons of money and international heavy artillery,” said Orban, who received a Soros-funded scholarship as Hungary was transitioning from communism to democracy in the late 1980s.

“It is causing trouble … that they are trying secretly and with foreign money to influence Hungarian politics,” Orban said.

But missing from the list is one of nine major federal resettlement contractors—-the International Rescue Committee. (Others of the nine may also be getting booty from Soros, but the IRC is out front about it, as we have reported ad nauseam!)
We have many posts on the relationship, click here, to learn more.
However, I just now went back to 2013 to see exactly what the IRC said about Soros at its New York City gala to honor him.

screenshot-357
Clinton with David Miliband, former British Foreign Secretary and now CEO of the IRC feted George Soros in glitzy NYC gala.

From Forbes:

So while CBS CBS +1.00% anchor Scott Pelley, the annual benefit’s emcee, kept things moving, and saxophonist Joshua Redman and pianist Aaron Goldberg provided lively entertainment for the 1,000 attendees, it was the honorees who were the real stars of the evening.

[….]

The night’s headline honoree was yet another accomplished former refugee, hedge fund billionaire George Soros, who escaped from Hungary in 1946. He was lauded by Bill Clinton (“It’s hard to think of any citizen of the world who would have done more to deserve the award,” the former president said), his son Jonathan and United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power.

[….]

Upon receiving the award (a photograph of Einstein taken by the late Fred Stein, an acclaimed photographer whom the IRC helped flee Nazi Germany), Soros somberly declared that Syria was a “glaring failure of international governance” and pressed the IRC to take action. The event raised $3.5 million to help. True to form, Soros immediately pledged $1 million.

Send a message to Donald Trump!

Tell him to roll out the red carpet for Viktor Orban and watch the leftwing media rage.  LOL! Maybe do it on the evening of the Correspondent’s shindig!  Click here for WH website comments page.

Oh, the wailing has begun, refugee contractors NOW trying to raise private money to stay afloat

President Barack Obama’s administration told resettlement organizations to staff up in anticipation of an increase in refugees this year!

Mark Hetfield told the AP

In the wake of only a 120-day slowdown for refugee resettlement, the nine major federal refugee contractors are moaning about how they will have to cut staff as they lose MILLIONS of federal dollars they receive to place ever increasing numbers of third worlders into unsuspecting American towns.
mark-hetfield-hias-logo
This is an Associated Press story filled with extremely useful information, here is the first part of it.  All of you in ‘pockets of resistance’ should keep the whole article.
We gave you a list of local sob stories here the other day, here are the major contractors.
From AP at Crossroads Today (emphasis is mine):

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Refugee resettlement organizations are bracing for significant funding cuts and possible layoffs over the coming months during President Donald Trump’s temporary refugee ban.

The agencies receive a certain amount of federal dollars per refugee they help resettle, which means they would lose a key source of funding unless the Trump administration provides funds in the interim during the 120-day temporary halt to refugees entering the U.S.

catholic-charities-logo

Catholic Charities USA says the executive order will cost the organization millions of dollars and put at risk about 7,000 jobs out of the 54,000 jobs at their agencies around the country, according to spokeswoman Patricia Cole.

So now they attempt to raise private Christian charity, why didn’t they do this long ago! The refugee program was supposed to be a public-private partnership, but the public share increases annually as the private share shrinks!

AP continues….

The group launched an $8 million fundraising campaign this week to help replace the funding it expects to lose during the four-month moratorium.

Catholic Charities agencies resettled roughly 23,000 of the nearly 85,000 refugees that entered the U.S. last year, Cole said. Most of them were women and children.

miliband-and-soros-3
British national David Miliband gives Soros the IRC’s top award—the 2013 Freedom Award (LOL! not fake news!). Miliband said Soros has made a “tremendous commitment to the advancement of human rights, social justice and democracy around the world.”

It is one of nine agencies*** that handle refugee resettlement. Another agency, International Rescue Committee is asking its donors to help raise $5 million to ensure its 29 offices around the country can continue to support refugees already here.  [Hey, here is a thought maybe David Miliband could take a pay cut, he gets over a half a million as CEO of this contractor. The budget for the IRC is more than a half a billion annually —ed]

Making matters worse for agencies is that President Barack Obama’s administration told resettlement organizations to staff up in anticipation of an increase in refugees this year, said Mark Hetfield, president of HIAS, formerly the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.

You must read it all! Go here.
See that many of the employees they will let go are refugees. So next time you see their mumbo-jumbo about how they help refugees get jobs, remember many are getting jobs to advance the contractor’s agenda.

They want Trump to advance them money as Bush did after the 9/11 slowdown!

Don’t do it Donald, they are too big, too bloated, too lazy to raise private money, and they operate with secrecy and arrogance toward local citizens wherever they place refugees!

Readers, you can tell President Trump what you think here.

Be sure to tell him that these very same ‘non-profits’ whining for your tax dollars are deeply involved in plans to demonstrate against his administration, see here.

***Nine federal refugee contractors:

Getting new housing in your town? Then you will get refugees!

If Trump doesn’t turn off the spigot, both of refugees and funding/regulations for low income housing (Obama’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing!), then expect refugee contractors to find your town!

Changing the heartland one town at a time!

tysons-map
Tyson Foods is the top employer in Garden City, Kansas and the primary reason Somalis and other refugees move there. If you have a Tyson Foods plant (or any BIG MEAT plant near where you live, you will have refugees too.

Here we have news from Kansas where a federal refugee contractor crows about all the new housing that could be available for refugees in Liberal, Dodge and Garden City, Kansas.
Governor Brownback recently withdrew the state from the Refugee Admissions Program, but that means nothing unless he is willing to sue the federal government on states’ rights grounds.
His withdrawal means that contractors, like the International Rescue Committee, will move in to run the program with Washington. As we said here, Brownback cannot be trusted on this issue!
From KSN.com (Refugees may double for southwest Kansas in 2017):

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Southwest Kansas welcomed 67 new refugees to the area in 2016, just shy of the 80 the International Rescue Commission [Committee—ed] was authorized to re-settle, but that number could soar this year.

amy-longa
Any Longa, director of the International Rescue Committee office in Garden City, says she is working to expand housing opportunities for refugees. http://www.gctelegram.com/news/local/ugandan-natives-share-sorrows-humor-of-moving-to-america/article_0639af00-30b8-55c9-9028-5c39ede42b6b.html

“We do have the capacity to settle 140,” said Amy Longa, who manages the southwest Kansas site of the Commission. “I do not know how many we’ll end up settling by the end of the fiscal year.”

It depends on many factors at play in the international resettlement efforts, but the number of new refugees settling in Dodge, Liberal, and Garden could potentially double this year over last year.

[….]

The housing shortage in the region is an obstacle, but it is being addressed.

“We’re now seeing a little more opportunity with the recent building,” said Carol Davidson with Garden City Community Development, “and we also have plans in the future, this next year 2017, we do have a development that’s going in.”

“19 duplexes, 12 fourplexes, and five 36-unit apartment complexes,” said Cory Hodapp, who owns the company building a new housing complex in Garden City. “We’ll have half of the duplexes and half of the fourplexes complete this year.”

Good news for the IRC and Tyson Foods!

It’s good news for the IRC, which competes with the market to help find homes for refugees.

“What we have been working on the past two years is reaching out to landlords and creating partnerships with landlords to create housing,” said Longa. “Not only in Garden City, but in Dodge and Liberal as well.”

As we have reported on many previous occasions, the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program works closely with large companies like Tyson Foods and others to supply them with cheap immigrant labor.  Those laborers are further subsidized by your tax dollars including those used to expand low-income housing.
So, don’t fall for the humanitarian mumbo-jumbo!  Refugee resettlement is an industry!  Chambers of Commerce want it, housing developers want it, big industries want it for cheap labor, local mosque leaders want it, politicians want it (money!), and the resettlement contractors get jobs and nice salaries all while pretending to wear a white hat of humanitarianism!

We have many previous posts going back several years on Garden City, click here.  And, see Garden City’s wikipedia page where someone had to be sure that the recent arrest of three Kansans who allegedly planned to blow up one of the Somali apartment complexes has been added to the page.
There is another article about Kansas and refugees, here, in recent days.  You might want to have a look at.

Kansas refugee contractors: heck with the governor, we won't stop bringing in refugees

Yesterday we told you that Sam Brownback, the governor of Kansas, withdrew the state from the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program making it effectively the 13th Wilson-Fish state***.

Bishop_Wolfe_laugh_sm
Bishop Dean Wolfe: no matter what the governor says we will continue to overload Wichita and other Kansas cities with refugees. http://www.episcopal-ks.org/bishop/About-Bishop-Dean-E-Wolfe.php

Wilson-Fish references an amendment to the original Refugee Act of 1980 where the federal government has taken it upon itself to write new regulations (with no statutory backing) that say if a state government opts-out of the program, the feds can assign a non-profit group to run the resettlement program in the state.  Think about that! In 12 states right now the feds and a private contractor are making decisions on how to spend state and local tax dollars!
We believe that such a provision is unconstitutional and so does the Thomas More Law Center which has a case ready to file if one brave governor (of a Wilson-Fish state) will step up and be the plaintiff. How about Gov. Brownback?
Or better still how about several brave governors joining forces!  And, if you aren’t in a Wilson Fish state (Texas! for example), you should be urging your ‘brave’ governor to opt-out and then file this lawsuit!
The Tennessee legislature has voted to sue the feds on these Tenth Amendment grounds, see here.
Here is the latest as the arrogant Kansas contractors tell the governor where to go! Maybe you should first read about how the Wichita school system is overloaded with refugees and broke.

“America First!” What about our American kids? No Christian charity for them?

From the Wichita Eagle:

The bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas says his church will continue to help resettle refugees in Kansas despite Gov. Sam Brownback’s decision to withdraw the state from the federal resettlement program.

Brownback cited security concerns Tuesday when he announced he was ending the state’s participation in the program, which helps resettle refugees fleeing war-torn nations.

Episcopal Migration Ministries will continue its resettlement work in Wichita regardless of the state’s position, the Rev. Dean Wolfe said in a statement late Wednesday.

“In the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas we will continue to be an advocate for those who have no voice,” Wolfe said. “With the exception of indigenous peoples, we are all immigrants to this great land.”

The International Rescue Committee, the other refugee resettlement agency working in the Wichita area, has also promised to continue helping place refugees in Kansas.

Federal officials told Kansas officials earlier in the month that they would work directly with local agencies if Kansas chose to leave the program. [This is the unconstitutional Wilson-Fish model—ed]
