Invasion of Europe news: Italian Muslim political leader fears for her safety after proposing mosque/cemetery

This is an interesting turnabout, it is usually European political leaders like Geert Wilders who have to live with the constant fear (under guard) that some Islamists will kill them.  Now, if this story is to be believed, Muslims fear a rising tide of “xenophobia” as Europeans feel under siege and fear the coming shariah law, as Muslim migrants flood into Italy from Africa and the Middle East.

MOSCOW, September 12 (RIA Novosti) – Aicha Mesrar, an Italian councilor from a small city in northern Italy, has been forced to abandon her post and flee the country, The Independent reported.

Announcing her resignation, Mesrar said that she was proud of her work in the city council, and stressed that her leaving “is not the fault of the people of Rovereto,” but of some isolated elements.

“I cannot always live under escort,” Mesrar said, adding that “I’m not scared for me but for my children.” Mesrar has been under police protection for over two years, after receiving numerous threats in the form of anonymous letters.

Mesrar, 45, was born in Casablanca, Morocco, and moved to Italy in the early 1990s, becoming a councilor of the Democratic Party in the city of Rovereto in the Trentino region in 2010.

Mesrar was described by other local politicians as an active and effective councilor, spearheading several community initiatives, including a local community cooperative. Mesrar was the first woman to wear a veil at city hall.

Rovereto’s mayor, Andrea Miorandi, a friend and political ally of Ms. Mesrar, has also received threats for supporting plans to build a mosque and a Muslim cemetery in the city. He described Mesrar’s work as an “outstanding example of civic commitment.”

Bruno Dorigatti, head of Trentino’s provincial government, noted with sadness that “if [Mesrar] has to give in to intimidation and anonymous threats, it means that Trentino has yet to defeat the dangerous disease of intolerance.”

The problem of anti-immigrant attitudes and the related rise of nationalist and xenophobic feelings has been a significant problem in Europe for several decades, but has sharpened dramatically in recent years as the result of sharpening economic crises, rising unemployment, and instability in Northern Africa resulting in an influx of African and Asian immigrants.

This is old news by a few weeks, but Debbie sent me this very informative map today that was published at The Blaze a couple of weeks ago and I think it’s a good addition to our ‘where to find information’ category.    And, perhaps a good companion to our refugee statistics regarding top languages spoken by refugees admitted to the US (Arabic is the number one language of refugees arriving in the US right now).

By the way, the US State Department does track the religions of refugees they admit to the US, but does not make that information available to the general public.

How widespread is Muslim fundamentalism in Europe? Very wide!

I was surprised to see this report in the Washington Post of all places (albeit it is in a blog posting).  It is about a study conducted a few years ago (why did they wait to publicize it?) that basically says a majority of European Muslims adhere to the teachings of the Koran (with no reform) while Christians are very much less “fundamental” in their beliefs.

Of course the article also notes that there are MORE Christians in over all numbers in Europe than Muslims, but really in that segment of the story the author is talking about “fundamentalist” Christians and “fundamentalist” Muslims and I would challenge the assertion on that.  There are surely more Christians in Europe, but I question whether the number of “fundamentalist” Christians are that great.

Also, it is important to note that “fundamentalist” Muslims have proven they are more willing to act on their beliefs (undertake the Koranic admonition to violent Jihad), making them a greater threat to society in general than “fundamentalist” Christians.  Correct me if I’m wrong but I haven’t noticed any “fundamentalist” Christians out killing people in the name of Jesus lately.

One narrative about Muslim immigrants in Europe is that only a relatively small proportion holds views that are sometimes labeled as “fundamentalist.” Ruud Koopmans from the Wissenschaftszentrum in Berlin argues that this perspective is incorrect. He conducted a telephone survey of 9,000 respondents in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Austria, and Sweden and interviewed both Turkish and Moroccan immigrants as well as a comparison group of Christians.

His first finding is that majorities of Muslim immigrants believe that there is only one interpretation of the Koran possible to which every Muslim should stick (75 percent), and that religious rules are more important than the laws of the country in which they live (65 percent). Moreover, these views are as widespread among younger Muslims as among older generations.

He then looks at hostility toward out-groups. Fifty-eight percent do not want homosexual friends, 45 percent think that Jews cannot be trusted, and 54 percent believe that the West is out to destroy Muslim culture. Among Christians, 23 percent believe that Muslims are out to destroy Western culture. Koopmans says these results hold when you control for the varying socio-economic characteristics of these groups (although the analyses are not presented).

The article concludes with one more mention of the fact that young Muslims believe in “fundamental” Islam in the same numbers as their elders.  Read it all!

Are 75% of Norway’s Somalis “fundamentalists?”  If so, helping themselves to ‘infidel’ social services is just one more Koranic teaching to adhere to!   The Islamic doctrine of immigration is also a fundamental Koranic teaching—read Al Hijra!

Diversity is strength alert: Arrests made in honor killing (NYC)

If you don’t read The Muslim Issue, you should, the bloggers there have some informative stories that dovetail at time with what we write here at RRW.

Today (or last night) The Muslim Issue has a post about a professor of Islamic studies in Germany (a Muslim himself!) who is suggesting that Mohammed never existed—get ready for all hell to break loose in Germany!

But, it’s the “honor killing” story that I want to post.

Yippee! Here we come! Pakistanis second fastest-growing group of Asian immigrants in US. First are Bangladeshis (also Muslims). Chinese are way down the list.

Here is a bit of it:

NEW YORK, Sept. 27 (UPI) — Prosecutors said a New York man has been charged with conspiring to kill two family members in a dispute over the arranged marriage of his daughter in Pakistan.  [read on…they were killed!—ed]

Mohammad Ajmal Choudhry was arrested Thursday on charges of conspiring to commit murder in a foreign county, transmitting threats via interstate communications and visa fraud, federal officials said in a news release.

U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Loretta E. Lynch — along with officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement; Homeland Security Investigations; and the U.S. State Department — said court filings indicate Choudhry directed that his daughter, Amina Ajmal, a U.S. citizen, be held against her will for three years in Pakistan.

She was forced to marry a Pakistani national so he could get a U.S. visa, prosecutors said.

So, how do all the Pakistanis get into the US?

Most people assume that the Refugee Resettlement Program of the US State Department takes all comers, but it doesn’t.  Pakistanis make up a small proportion of the program (156 came this year as “refugees”).   See this very handy map and list at WRAPS.net Map Arrivals by Nationality as of 31 Aug 2013

Here is an article from 2012 (a little outdated) that says that 65% of Pakistanis (the second fastest growing group of Asian immigrants in America) are foreign born and most get here thanks to chain migration—family reunification.  Another 16% were sponsored by businesses.  So once the seeds are planted, the extended family comes too!   In the terrible story above, the deaths were the result of Islamic ‘law’ and immigration fraud.

Immigration and the Arab Spring in Europe

There is a good essay at The Gatestone Institute last week you should have a look at.  This is the important takeaway point for me from writer Anat Berko:

What we are witnessing is not multiculturalism; it is a violent attempt by guests to devour their hosts, along with their houses, property, culture and legacy.

Here are the opening paragraphs:

In a 1996 interview, Hamas founder and leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin stated that “every Arab rule that does not rule by the law of Allah and his religion is to be rejected.” That was 17 years ago, long before the so-called Arab Spring, the terrorist attacks in the United States and Europe and the “days of rage” declared by Muslim rioters worldwide; now the breathing spaces between the attacks get shorter, and turn into years of rage.

One would expect that Muslim immigrants, whose children were born in the West, would adapt, become part of the Western society and partake of its freedom — otherwise, why did they immigrate? What we see, however, is the opposite. The beheading of a British soldier in London, and the murder of a soldier in France, are only the beginning of a wave of violence and a dictatorship of fundamentalists who will call the tune. The wave of riots and vandalism carried out by Muslim immigrants in France in 2005 was just a hint at what is to come. The immigrants are brainwashed in the mosques, the madrasas [Islamic religious schools] and informal discussion groups, all of which represent the West as worse than Sodom and Gomorrah.

Berko goes on to hypothesize that it may be the western woman who leads the way back from the brink of cultural annihilation.  Read it all.
