Federal contractor IRC and Maryland Dems pressuring governor to "welcome" Syrians to the state

Update:  Thanks to Richard at Blue Ridge Forum you can now see who the Maryland reps are who support the placement of Syrian Muslim refugees in Maryland.  See here.  So what are the Republicans going to do to come to the governor’s defense?
Even though Governor Larry Hogan can’t (as things stand now) stop the resettlement of refugees to Maryland, a group of Maryland Democrats are pressuring him to publicly welcome them.

Jamin_Raskin
The letter was initiated by Jamie Raskin (D) running for Congress using this as one more campaign stunt. But, voters make note that Raskin is advocating for more Muslims to be placed in Maryland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Raskin

And this is really stinky timing for the refugee pushers because the lead agency behind the pro-Syrian Muslim refugee lobbying campaign is none other than the International Rescue Committee that made big news yesterday because it is under investigation for fraud in Turkey where it is supposedly helping Syrian refugees.
If you are a new reader there is something you need to know when reading this story.
Governors do not have the power (yet) to stop the placement of third worlders into their states.
However, they do have the power to withdraw the state from the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program as the governors of Kansas and New Jersey did in April. Although it causes bureaucratic confusion and brings media attention (both good things!), the gesture is meaningless unless the governor then files a States’ rights lawsuit that is waiting and ready to go at the Thomas More Law Center.
Frankly I don’t see Maryland’s Republican governor with that much gumption to protect the taxpayers of the state. I hope he proves me wrong!

As I mentioned above, be sure you read yesterday’s post on the corruption investigation of the IRC which is one of the primary refugee resettlement contractors operating in Maryland.

So below is a bit of the news yesterday at the Washington Post (emphasis is mine):

Several dozen Maryland state lawmakers, including Democratic House nominee Jamie B. Raskin, have written Gov. Larry Hogan (R), urging him to endorse the settlement of Syrian refugees in the state.

Hogan joined other governors last year in saying he would oppose the entry of refugees unless the federal government could provide specific assurances that they are properly vetted and do not pose a security threat.

State Department officials have said repeatedly that all refugees — including Syrians — undergo rigorous screening before being granted refugee status.

IRC Maryland
Ruben Chandrasekar runs the Maryland office of the IRC and just yesterday it was revealed that his organization was being investigated for corruption involving Syrian refugees in Turkey.

But Hogan spokesman Matt Clark said Wednesday that the governor’s position has not changed. “To my knowledge, the federal government has not provided any additional information on changes . . . in the process,” Clark said.

[….]

The letter was initiated by Raskin, a state senator from Montgomery County and the Democratic nominee to succeed outgoing U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D), and Dels. Brooke E. Lierman (D-Baltimore) and David Moon (D-Montgomery).

[….]

Ruben Chandrasekar, an official of the International Rescue Committee in Baltimore, said the agency has resettled 60 Syrian refugees in Maryland in the past two years and is prepared to place as many as 100 in the coming year. [99% of the Syrian refugees entering the US now are Muslims—ed]

“If President Obama follows through on his promise to bring in 10,000 Syrian refugees, we hope to have a very busy summer,” said Chandrasekar, whose organization worked closely with the advocacy groups that spearheaded the letter from lawmakers to Hogan.

Yeh, I will bet the IRC worked closely.  They are paid by the head to resettle refugees into your towns and cities and it is in their financial best interests to keep the spigot open.
Most refugees in Maryland go to Baltimore or Silver Spring, but hundreds of others are scattered around the state. Most recently a resettlement contractor was making inquiries in Hagerstown again.
If any reader finds a copy of Raskin’s letter, send it my way! We do need to publish the names of all who signed it.
And, don’t hold your breath that the Washington Post, which is happy to pimp for Raskin, will report on the corruption scandal surrounding the IRC!  The alternative media is on the story however, here Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily digs deeper.

Senator Barbara Mikulski staffer just called me "despicable!"

barbara-mikulski
US Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland obviously wants more Muslim migrants in America.

I am stunned, a staff person answering the phone in Senator Barbara Mikulski’s office just said I was “despicable” supporting Donald Trump’s call for a ban on Muslim immigration to America, said I “hated” people.  He said that they had my “name and number” as if that was a threat!
Imagine a staff person, who would not give me his name, treating a constituent like that!
If you live in Maryland, you must call Mikulski tell her you support cutting funds this week for the refugee program and tell her you want visas from jihadist-producing countries stopped!

Click here for her offices across the state (you will have to scroll to the bottom and click on office locations—they make it hard for you on purpose!).

LOL! See if you can produce the same response!
They are becoming unhinged.
Update:  Polite and professional responses from Senator Cardin’s office and Congressman John Delaney.
Addendum:  I should have mentioned earlier that back in October, the Senator was one of the leaders of the pack looking for MORE of your money for Syrian refugee resettlement here.

Maryland Senators want more Syrians resettled in the state; seek to streamline security screening

Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md.: Let's spend more taxpayer dollars to bring in more Syrians more quickly
Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md. and Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md.: Let’s spend more taxpayer dollars to bring in more Syrians more quickly!

We are always reporting on other states, but we mustn’t forget our home state of Maryland!  Although, as Maryland readers will attest, this is not exactly earth-shattering news!
Here the Baltimore Sun reports on efforts by Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski to obtain more funding to speed up the resettlement of mostly Muslim Syrians to the US and to Maryland.
And, although it is at the end, Sun reporter, Ian Duncan, does tell us that the Sessions’ hearing last week revealed that thorough security screening of Syrians is virtually impossible.

Maryland’s senators are seeking ways the U.S. government can do more to aid Syrian refugees, joining other officials in the search for a balance between the humanitarian urge to help those who are suffering and the security concerns of admitting masses of people to the United States from a region that has been cracked apart by terrorism.

Sen. Ben Cardin called this week for more funding to process refugee applications, and Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski has asked homeland security officials how better technology could speed the vetting process.

[….]

About 7,000 refugees from around the world were resettled in Maryland from October 2008 through September 2013, according to the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement. The Baltimore office of the nonprofit International Rescue Committee had found homes for 26 Syrians this year through mid-September.

Cardin urged the Senate Appropriations Committee to boost funding for the agencies involved.

“We must support funding to significantly increase the number of refugees screened and admitted into the United States,” Cardin and other Democrats wrote in a letter to the panel’s leaders.

Although it is at the very end of his story, the reporter does mention the important hearing held by Senator Jeff Sessions last week.

The process is also colored by concerns that the self-proclaimed Islamic State in Iraq and Syria could try to sneak operatives posing as refugees into the United States.

At a recent hearing, Sen. Jeff Sessions questioned whether immigration officials know enough about individual candidates to determine who might pose a national security risk.

“We have little or no information about who the people are, no background information, no ability to determine whether they are radicalized now or might become radicalized after their arrival in the United States,” the Alabama Republican said.

More here.
Adding Muslim diversity to Baltimore!
Be sure to check out some recent posts on refugee resettlement to Baltimore here and here.  An Islamic charity affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood is ‘helping’ refugees resettle in Maryland.  I wonder if they assist ol’ Ben and Babs with a little campaign help as well, just as CAIR is doing in CT, here, for another Democrat Senator.
Where is Governor Hogan on all of this? Does anyone know?

Maryland alert! Tell new REPUBLICAN Governor Hogan to oppose Obama Amnesty

This is just maddening!

Maryland Republicans worked hard and were overjoyed to elect a Republican governor last fall and now we see that on immigration the Democrat extreme Leftwing Open Borders crowd, led by Attorney General Brian Frosh, is still running the show in Maryland.

NJ Governor Chris Christie opposes Obama’s unlawful amnesty, so why doesn’t MD Governor Larry Hogan do the same?

Here is Help Save Maryland on what you can do!

MARYLAND CITIZENS DO NOT SUPPORT PRESIDENT OBAMA’S EXECUTIVE AMNESTY!

In January 2015, before the swearing in for Governor-elect Larry Hogan, Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh took it upon himself to set immigration policy for the new Hogan Administration.

Acting alone, AG Frosh signed on to an amicus curiae or “friend of the court” brief with 11 other states in support of President Obama’s controversial executive amnesty for illegal aliens. This questionable brief was submitted in opposition to the formal legal challenge filed by the State of Texas and 25 other states which argued that the President’s unconstitutional amnesty would be a financial burden on the states.

[….]

Please sign the Help Save Maryland Petition. Tell Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to:

~Immediately withdraw the State of Maryland from the “friend of the court” briefs signed by Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh. Maryland citizens are tired of paying for illegal aliens in our communities.

~Put our state on record with the federal courts and the American People that the law-abiding citizens of Maryland refuse to support President Obama’s Executive Amnesty.

~Order Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh to cease and desist from providing any further verbal or written support for the unconstitutional Executive Amnesty being promoted by the White House.

Go here to sign the petition.

Then send this around to everyone you know in Maryland!

Endnote:  If you think this has nothing to do with refugees, you are wrong!  If Obama’s illegal amnesty is fulfilled the refugee resettlement contractors we tell you about all the time, will be granted even more of your tax dollars to get the newly amnestied signed up for their “services,” and eventually signed up to vote (they are already receiving government grants to rush legal permanent residents through the citizenship process).

Maryland county seeking lawyers for the ‘unaccompanied children;’ Catholic Charities spearheading the effort

I expect this is going on in the at least 124 locations where some of the 58,000 illegal alien children ended up in America this year alone!

From the Gazette:

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett calls for attorneys to step up for the ‘children.’

Unaccompanied minors in Montgomery County who left Central America urgently need pro bono lawyers to help them stay in the U.S., county officials and area organization leaders said.

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett said Monday at a press conference that the county cannot turn the minors away and needs attorneys “to help us help them.”

“We need to act and we need to act in an urgent manner,” he said to a room that included about 20 lawyers interested in taking on the task.

The children and their guardians need lawyers to help them navigate legal processes that could lead to a green card or a status that will help children stay in the U.S. and away from hardships they fled.

There are nearly 1,200 unaccompanied minors in the county, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement.

They say they are going for a determination in most cases that involve abuse the “children” got at home (Special Immigrant Juveniles Status) and not asylum.  So I guess all the teenager has to say is that Mom or Dad beat him up (most are teenaged boys) and he gets to live in America!

Read on and know that Catholic Charities is funded through your tax dollars for their legal work!   They got Obama Money!

See our extensive archive on ‘unaccompanied minors’ going back several years, here.

Editor:  I mentioned yesterday that I want to try to say less in each post and do more posts each day, is that working out for you?  Too many e-mails?  BTW, I don’t send e-mails.  If you subscribe, wordpress does it automatically.  In a few days we will be having a hiatus in posting as I travel to St. Louis to speak on the refugee program and where it has gone wrong.
