MN: CAIR filing another employment discrimination case involving Somalis and prayer breaks

This one involves a manufacturer of door and window hardware (not meatpacking for a change).  For the life of me, I don’t know why these manufacturers keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome—hire Muslims then end up in legal hot water over prayer break times.
And, if you don’t know what this is….this is creeping shariah!

Jaylani
CAIR-MN director Jaylani Hussein: 50% of our work now involves suing employers for discriminating against Muslims. See what ‘Minnesota nice’ gets you!

Owatonna is a little town of 25,000 or so in the southeast corner of the state within easy driving distance of the two big hubs of Somali refugee resettlement—-Minneapolis and Rochester.  However, Owatonna is a direct resettlement site too, see here.
I love the irony! Be sure to see Owatonna embraces its Somalis!
From the Minneapolis Star Tribune two days ago:

Nearly two dozen Muslim Somali-Americans are filing discrimination charges with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity against hardware maker AmesburyTruth and Doherty Staffing Solutions.

The fired workers said they were denied a place to pray at an Owatonna, Minn., manufacturing plant and lost their jobs for trying to practice their religion.

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is leading the effort on behalf of 21 former workers who were terminated in May and June 2015.

Followers of Islam pray five times each day — at daybreak, midday, afternoon, sunset and at night. Before prayer, Muslims are required to wash their faces, hands and feet with clean water, which normally is performed in a restroom sink.

AmesburyTruth is headquartered in Edina and makes hardware for doors and windows, weatherstrips and extrusions. The company has about 2,000 employees at 11 locations around the country.

The Owatonna plant employs about 800 workers and specializes in making windows, hinges, locks and other hardware used in casement windows.

CAIR-MN’s civil rights director Amarita Singh underscored that Muslim employees have the constitutional right to have employers accommodate their religious practices.

[….]

Jaylani Hussein, CAIR-MN’s executive director, said more than 50 percent of the organization’s casework now comes from these types of workers’ rights cases, though many are resolved without needing to involve the courts.

Gee, I wonder why?

Nationwide, anti-Muslim sentiment has risen dramatically in the past year, sparking protests and anti-refugee legislation in Idaho, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas and elsewhere, said Stephen Piggott of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit focused on civil rights.

Search Somalis Minnesota here at RRW and it will keep you busy reading posts for hours! But, don’t miss this one (10,000 Somalis to MN in ten years!).
Addendum:  I’ve gotta try to remember to always add the latest Somali numbers—right now we are admitting them at the rate of 750 per month, see here.

Somalis arriving at the rate of 750 a month right now; will it ever end?

As of March 31, we were 6 months into the 2016 fiscal year which began on Oct. 1, 2015.
Since you all were interested in the Syrian numbers so far I thought I should update you on the Somali migration to America.  But, first check out my post of September 2008 where I chronicled over 30 years of Somali resettlement to America.   Notice that the highest resettlement years occurred in the Bush Administration.
I want to make the point again—once the UN and the US State Department get rolling on a specific ethnic group, the flow into America continues for decades!  A reporter asked me the other day: if we blow up a place, aren’t we responsible for the people? We didn’t blow up Somalia, so why are we responsible for their mass importation to America?
As of the end of 2015 we have admitted 127,337 Somalis through the Refugee Admissions Program. This figure does not include successful asylum seekers or those in the US illegally. Do we continue taking Somalis for decades to come?

This year FY2016 we are on target for 9,000!

Checking the State Department data, I see we admitted 4,521 Somalis in the first half of FY2016.  Here is where they went:

Here are the top ten states for Somali Muslim resettlement:

Minnesota (563)***

New York (410)

Arizona (301)

Ohio (292)

Texas (276)

Pennsylvania (222)

Washington (214)

Massachusetts (211)

Missouri (204)

California (176)

*** If you are thinking a much higher number is coming to Minnesota, you are probably right.  If you go to page 16 in a recent ORR “Key Indicators,” you will see that Minnesota, by a whopping margin (thousands!), gets the most ‘secondary migrants.’  That means that when resettled elsewhere, the Somalis are almost immediately high-tailing it to MN to be with their own kind of people.

Islamic State lists 36 Minnesota police officers on "kill list"

So, this is one of the joys that diversity brings “welcoming” communities.

Minnesota man ISIS
Take heart, this one is dead. (But he left 9 kids and several wives here for you to take care of!)

Of course, readers here know that Minnesota is the top resettlement state for Somali Muslims.
And now, we learn here at the Washington Times, that one in four “Americans” who have gone to join jihadists elsewhere in the world hail from refugee-rich Minnesota.
We raised these Somali ‘youths’ with our money (taxpayer dollars) and this is what we get!
Washington Times:

A group of hackers loyal to the Islamic State terrorist group have reportedly posted a “kill list” with the names and personal details of 36 policemen in Minnesota.

The list, published by the “Caliphate Cyber Army” on the encrypted mobile app Telegram, includes full names, home addresses, email addresses and phone numbers of all the policemen, according to Vocativ.

The cops reportedly live in cities across Minnesota, but the majority are located in and around the Twin Cities.

Minnesota has a large population of Somali immigrants, with the Cedar Riverside community in Minneapolis housing the largest Somali community in the country. Since 2007, two dozen men from the Cedar Riverside community have left to join extremist groups.

A congressional report from last November said one in four Americans who has attempted to join the Islamic State group is from Minnesota.

We have a gigantic archive of posts on Somalis and Minnesota, use our search function to find them.  But, be sure to see this one—10,000 Somalis resettled in Minnesota in ten years.

Minnesota: government grants to stem "alienation" of Somali refugee youths awarded

They still think that all they need is a little basketball program to combat the enormous power of Islamic jihad indoctrination that you know is going on in mosques in refugee-saturated Minnesota (and other states where Somali enclaves are growing).
So after you have already shelled out billions of dollars to raise Somali youths (medical, housing, education etc), now you further shell out tax dollars for programs to combat alienation.  Give me a break!

Somali terror
Could they have been saved from the siren-song of ISIS recruiters if they had a little more youth athletics available to them? https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2015/08/13/minnesota-attorneys-for-somali-refugees-arrested-on-terrorism-charges-say-isis-not-a-terror-group/

Start asking why are we still bringing in thousands upon thousands of Somalis every year and have done so for over 30 years (45,718 since Obama was elected, some with mental health issues!) and then to still be told they are alienated!
And, by the way, this should be a warning to everyone: once we open the Syrian spigot wide, Syrians will be admitted to the US as refugees for the next 30 years (or more!).
From ABC News:

Six organizations that work with young Somalis in Minnesota have been awarded $300,000 in grants as part of a federal pilot project designed to combat terrorism recruitment, the nonprofit group that is administering the funds announced Thursday.

The grant recipients include a youth athletics group, a program that empowers Somali parents, an organization that plans to enhance youth employment opportunities and a group that addresses mental health issues for refugees. An additional $100,000 has been set aside to help with professional development and other efforts designed to build up the programs so they can sustain themselves in the future.

Marcus Pope, director of partnerships and external relations for Youthprise, the nonprofit administering the money, said investing in youth development is crucial. He said Minnesota is home to many young Somalis who are creative and bright, but a lot of them face “formidable challenges, including a sense of alienation, a search for identity as new immigrants, unemployment and poverty that can open them to recruitment by extremist groups.”

More here.
And for you Minnesotans trying to get a handle on who all is behind transforming Minnesota, be sure to examine Youthprise carefully.  Looks like some of their ‘supporters’ represent industries that need to keep their cheap immigrant labor flowing into the state.  Can’t have those ‘alienated’ Islamists causing citizens to get riled-up against refugee resettlement.

Writer calls Lutheran Social Service of MN booklet on Islam, "fantasy Islam"

Dr. Stephen Kirby writing at Frontpage Magazine analyzed the 61-page booklet prepared by one of the major federal refugee resettlement contractors, ‘My Neighbor is Muslim, Exploring the Muslim Faith,’ and tells us the shocking news that they relied on an Imam with highly questionable ties for the ‘enlightenment’ of naive Minnesotans about the goals of their “new neighbors.”
Frontpage:

Jodi Harpstead
Jodi Harpstead is the CEO of LSS of MN and as such is responsible for the deceptive booklet. She is making over $300,000 a year to seed St. Cloud and other Minnesota towns with Somali Muslims. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2015/03/26/lutheran-social-service-of-minnesota-is-responsible-for-the-somali-chaos-in-st-cloud/

In 2015 the Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota produced a 61 page booklet titled My Neighbor is Muslim, Exploring the Muslim Faith. The purpose of the booklet was to enable Lutherans to learn about Islam in order to better understand their “new neighbors” who were arriving as refugees.

Kirby then lays out his argument in great specificity (read it all!) and wraps up with this:

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota created a booklet seeking to educate non-Muslims about Islam and encouraging them to have a welcoming attitude toward Muslim refugees coming into their neighborhoods. Ironically, the Muslim imam selected to endorse this booklet appears to be a Hamas supporter, believes that Shariah Law should be enforced in American communities where Muslims are the majority, heads one of two mosques that have been the focus of articles about Somali youth leaving Minneapolis to fight for a terrorist organization, and was recently refused a government security clearance. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Part 2 will look at how Islam is presented in this booklet.  [watch for it!—ed]
