Ohio is developing in to one of the most migrant ‘welcoming’ states in the nation thanks to its present governor and former candidate for President, John Kasich.
But, this is a bit much even for him!
For all of you who are sick of the ‘welcome the stranger’ club many leaders of the Religious Left beat you up with these days, there are some things in this story you should know.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich told CNN Thursday that “the Lord” doesn’t want Americans to build walls and oppose the migrant caravan heading to the United States from Central America.
“We’ve got to start putting ourselves in the shoes of other people,” Kasich told CNN’s Newsroom.
Kasich, the grandson of Catholic immigrants from Eastern Europe who became an Anglican Christian as an adult, said he believes most Americans would welcome the caravan.
But not all Christians agree with the governor’s take on biblical truth.
She said the Bible has a lot to say about nations, but nowhere does it teach nations to open their borders to mass migration.
“While I appreciate Gov. Kasich’s Christian faith and compassion, I would encourage him to reconsider the nature of love and the balanced wisdom of Scripture,” Kullberg told The Ohio Star. “The Bible does not teach open borders, but wise welcome.”
Continue here as Kullberg gives you some ideas on responses to those who are cherry-picking the Bible to support their leftwing views on immigration.
Once again we see news that attempts to bury the fact that the murderer is a Muslim REFUGEE! It makes me want to scream.
This is the bare bones story from Cleveland.com this past week (hat tip: Jim) that sent me out looking for more on the Iraqi “national” who was sentenced, not to life in prison, for a horrific murder that saw him bury his dead wife in front of their 3-year-old, but to 25 years on a plea deal.
(Is the plea deal just to keep more politically incorrect details from the public that would have come out in what would surely be a sensational jury trial?) Here is Cleveland.com and then keep reading to see what I learned from earlier reporting (elsewhere):
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison after admitting to strangling his ex-wife in 2016, then stuffing her body into a duffel bag and burying her remains as their 3-year-old son watched.
Fahad Saeed, 28, showed little remorse before Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Pamela Barker imposed the sentence.
“Things happen,” Saeed said through an Arabic interpreter.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors and Saeed’s lawyers struck a deal on Thursday that would see him plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter, kidnapping and burglary charges, and serve the maximum time in prison on each charge for a total of 25 years.
Prosecutors agreed not pursue an aggravated murder charge that would put Saeed behind bars for life. [What the hell!—ed]
The court hearing offered details into Al-Dhannoon’s October 2016 disappearance from her apartment on Lakewood’s Gold Coast, and the months-long search that ended when investigators found her body in May 2017.
[….]
The toddler told FBI agents in a November 2016 interview that “daddy put mommy in the pickies near the horses,”an apparent reference to the park’s carousel, Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Blaise Thomas said.
Read on, it was a jailhouse snitch who ultimately helped law enforcement find her body.
Saeed, an Iraqi national in the U.S. on a green-card visa, will be subject to deportation once he is released from prison.
Al-Dhannoon and Saeed married in 2011. She filed for the protection order in November 2015 after he became increasingly violent, according to court records. [Hey! Violent! I thought these Iraqi refugees were ‘robustly’ screened!—ed]
Charged in May when the body was found
Here is what theNew York Postsaid in May that Cleveland.comhas shamefully not mentioned in its sentencing story:
CLEVELAND — An Ohio man was indicted Thursday on aggravated murder and other charges after the remains of his ex-wife who’d been missing since October were found in a container outside Cleveland.
Fahad Mohammed Saeed, 27, of Cleveland, also was charged in the indictment with kidnapping, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, stalking and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of 25-year-old Roaa Al-Dhannoon. She was last seen Oct. 16 at her Lakewood, Ohio, apartment and was reported missing by friends three days later.
[….]
The couple divorced in September, and Al-Dhannoon was granted sole custody of their young son, Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Blaise Thomas said.
So one month after she divorced him he murdered her. “Things happen” he said.
Saeed and Al-Dhannoon came to the U.S. about three years ago as refugees from Iraq, Thomas said. They initially lived in California before settling in the Cleveland area. Thomas said Saeed and Al-Dhannoon were in the process of obtaining residency status.
More here.
Frankly it is maddening to see stories like the Cleveland.compiece that leaves out two salient points—they were Muslims and refugees. And, what I think happened is that Al-Dhannoon was becoming Americanized (look at her photo) and hubby was so angry he killed her—“Things happen.”
So in addition to a vile person having been admitted to the US (robust vetting?) the taxpayers of America will have paid for all of the criminal investigation and his legal representation/court expenses and soon will pay for 25 years of incarceration (Halal food? Special prayer breaks? etc.)!
Ask ‘Welcoming America’ if when they are promoting the economic benefits of refugees in Clevelandwhether they have factored in the enormous costs of caring for violent refugee criminals like Fahad Mohammed Saeed.
(Isn’t there one of you out there who has the time to research what one of these refugee murderers or violent criminals, sentenced to long prison terms, cost the taxpayers of your state?)
Supposedly Saeed will be deported when he walks free at age 52, but who is going to be watching to be sure he is removed from America!
And, what kind of a man will his little son grow into having watched his father bury his mother (stuffed into a bag) and thrown into a ditch?
This post is filed in my ‘crimes’ category here (2,198 previous posts!).
When I hear the refugee industry propagandists say that refugees aren’t terrorists and criminals they may really believe it because most media is working overtime to cover for refugees who commit crimes!
As promised, below are the stats for the first three months of fiscal year 2018 (it began on October 1, 2017). Update January 3: More detailed numbers analysis by Michael Leahy at Breitbart, here.
President Trump set the CEILING for the year at 45,000 refugees. That is the lowest CEILING since the Refugee Act of 1980 (Kennedy/Biden) was signed in to law by Jimmy Carter.
I capitalize the word CEILING because I want to get it into the heads of reporters that a CEILING is not a target to be achieved. It is a cap that the President cannot exceed without consultation with Congress. There is nothing in refugee law that says he can’t come in with half of the proposed CEILING.
And, if the present rate of resettlement were to continue for the year, that is about where we will come in. According to Wrapsnet, as of today, we have admitted 5,323 refugees over 13 weeks. Extending that same rate out for 52 weeks would put the number at just under 22,000 for the year.
I know, to many readers, that 22,000 is too many, but you can be sure the low number of paying “clients” (refugees) will wreak havoc with the budgets of the nine federal contractors which could (optimistically) in turn force a complete review about why we have such a dysfunctional system where ‘non-profits’ are paid by the head to place refugees (in as much secrecy as they can muster) into towns and cities in 49 states.
There is never an incentive to slow the flow in overloaded communities with such a system where nine contractors*** are literally bidding for bodies.
Here is where the 5,323 have been placed as of today:
The top ten ‘welcoming’ states are: Ohio, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and North Carolina. California is normally first or second so who knows what that is all about. Top ten countriesfrom which we admitted refugees since October 1, 2017:
Bhutan (1,535)
DR Congo (1,154)
Burma (655)
Ukraine (487)
Eritrea (428)
Russia (132)
Somalia (128)
El Salvador (113)
Ethiopia (102)
Afghanistan (81)
Iraq (77), which has been in the top three or so for years, didn’t make the top ten. The percentage of Muslim refugees is way down.
In the final Obama years we were admitting close to 50% Muslim refugees and now (all Muslim sects combined) we admitted 726 Muslims in the last 3 months which amounts to about 14%.
I am concerned to see that 199 of the 726 were Muslims from Burma (Rohingya).
*** These are the nine federal refugee contractors. I like to post this list once a day (if I remember!) so new readers can begin to get the list memorized! They have hundreds of subcontractors working for them. If you visit their websites you can find out which, if any, are operating where you live.
The Trump Administration is on target to blow past its own 50,000 admission determination number in 2 weeks!
As we reported here, just as the Memorial Day weekend was getting underway, the US State Department announced to its contractors that it was going to open the refugee spigot wide again for the remaining months of fiscal year 2017 (the year ends on September 30th).
That means some of the federal refugee contractors, like this one in Ohio, may need to hire back some employees they had earlier let go, but there is still a question about how quickly Trump’s State Department and Dept. of Homeland Security can get the processing ramped-up abroad.
I had been waiting for the Trump White House to correct the mistake about opening the spigot, but their silence now signals that the White House is in agreement with the ramp-up! From WKSU. The International Institute of Akron is a subcontractor of one of nine major contractors (USCRI***in this case):
President Obama authorized 120,000 [No! It was 110,000!—ed] refugees for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30.
President Trump cut that in February to 50,000. But the State Department sent a memo in late May telling refugee groups they would no longer be restrained by weekly quotas.
Liz Walters of the International Institute of Akron says resettlement numbers have always ebbed and flowed, with the agency resettling as few as 25 and as many as 130 a month. She says how many will be coming now depends on what happens overseas.
“The big question mark is how many folks have been in process overseas and how quickly they can start to schedule those folks for travel or at what point they finish up their security clearances and can get them here before the end of the fiscal year.”
[….]
Walters notes that Trump’s budget proposal for the next fiscal year [begins Oct. 1, 2017—ed] includes funding to resettle 50,000 refugees, the minimum under the law.
As far as I can tell, there is no legal minimum!
I’m not lawyer, and perhaps there has been some case law or regulations that I don’t know about, but as I read the Refugee Act of 1980, there is no requirement for any specific number after 1982. Here (below) is the Act on admissions. There is a lot of discussion about procedures if the President needs to ‘up’ the numbers, but I don’t see any prohibition about going below 50,000!
Be sure to read the lawyourself and see that “consultation” is with the House and Senate Judiciary Committees and as far as I can see only requires the President to supply them with information. I repeat!
Do you see how clever the refugee industry propaganda machine is—we are only talking about admission levels, not reform of the whole program.
The only way to force Congress to scrap/reform the Refugee Act of 1980 is for Donald Trump to set the admissions number at zero for FY18 and tell Congress, no more until they get to work. Heck, make them work through the month of August!
He also has the power to stop the flow right now without any Executive Order.
Today the Trump admission level is at 47,434 (Wrapsnet) and, at the admissions rate announced on the eve of Memorial Day, he will thus blow past the 50,000 mark (set by him) in 2 weeks!
***By the way, USCRI is approximately 97% funded by you—taxpayers! See here.
His “clients” are refugees admitted to the US in recent months.
Yes! for resettlement agencies paid by your tax dollars, the ‘refugees’ they resettle are “clients.” I think that is a better word than ‘refugee’ since most aren’t legitimate refugees in the first place.
US Togetheris a subcontracting resettlement agency of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, see here.
Here is a bit of the interview at IdeaStream (All things considered) entitled: Uncertain Future Remains For Northeast Ohio Refugee Resettlement Agencies.
After you listen, I want to give you some facts about what the US Together employee is talking about and on resettlement to Ohio in general.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer yesterday said President Trump’s travel ban order is fully lawful, and he was confident the order would be upheld by an appeals court. The comments came after a three-judge panel from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in Seattle heard arguments in Hawaii’s challenge to the ban. [As is the case with most reporters, they don’t know the difference between the ‘ban’ and the President’s lawful power under the Refugee Act of 1980 to set refugee admission numbers each fiscal year.—ed]
After the first executive order in January affecting travel from mostly Muslim countries, Northeast Ohio refugee resettlement agencies feared lay-offs and uncertain finances [because they are paid out of the federal treasury!—ed].
Yesterday I spoke with Evan Chwalek with agency Us Together, about how things were going:
CHWALEK: “The way I like to think about it is, there are the things that the judiciary can affect, and the things they can’t affect, and we’ve been able to continue the resettlement process, but because the President has essentially cut the number of refugees admitted to the country in this fiscal year in half, we have fewer refugees to resettle, and unfortunately because of that we had many lay-offs.” [You see how they do this, “cut…in half!” From what, from Obama’s 2017 dream number of 110,000 for a year he would be in the WH for only 3 and a half months!—ed]
GANZER: “How many would you say?”
CHWALEK: “Somewhere in the neighborhood of 10, I would say, across the Cleveland office, and then we have offices in Toledo and Columbus, as well.” [Chwalek identifies the employees let go as “contractors.”—ed]
GANZER: “And you personally were affected by this. You were laid-off, right?”
CHWALEK: “That’s correct. I was laid-off in February and because of the changes in staff, they actually brought me back on as a full-time employee just three weeks ago.”
GANZER: “Not knowing many of the things that will come through the courts, or what the Administration might do next, what is the mood would you say around Us Together? Is it one of fear, or panic, or optimism?”
CHWALEK: “Fear isn’t the word I’d use. Resiliency comes to mind. Despite the uncertainties of the future, we have to continue offering the day-to-day services to our clients: getting them from medical appointments, applying for Social Security, making sure they understand how to use the bus on the way to work.” [If only poor Americans knew ‘refugee’ “clients” get such “services!”—ed]
[….]
GANZER: “How many families do you think will come to Cleveland this year, projected, would you say?”
CHWALEK: “I don’t really know the answer to that, but I would say somewhere around 175 individuals by the end of this fiscal year, which ends in September.”
GANZER: “In a pre-Trump Administration era, can you compare how many families we can look at?”
CHWALEK: “I look at the arrival sheets, and they are almost completely blank now. We probably had 400 resettled in the last fiscal year, individuals that is.”
[….]
CHWALEK: “We recommend that our clients don’t leave the country.
Chwalek goes on to say they are waiting to see what Trump does for the next fiscal year after admitting that Trump can change the numbers within a fiscal year (either up or down). We too are waiting to see what the Trump State Department does in September when the Presidential Determination is sent to The Hill for FY18.
First, on this last point I snipped above, if a ‘refugee’ is truly a persecuted person, why would he/she leave the safety of America to risk the danger they supposedly escaped?
I went toWrapsnet to get a feel for the numbers that Chwalek is talking about.
Look up data for Ohio and you can readily see how deceptive they can be to reporters who don’t have their facts in advance.
I went back to FY12 (in the Obama Administration) and found that the average number of refugees admitted to the whole state of Ohio for FY12, 13, 14 and 15 was 2,709 per year. Then the numbers jumped in Obama’s last year as he pushed for the huge increase in Syrians. Ohio “welcomed” 4,194 in FY16 (obviously well above the previous average for 4 years). So far in FY17 (about 7.5 months) Ohio has received 2,274 refugees. Again the pre-FY16 average for Ohio is 2,709 for the whole year, so they will likely hit their average this year (excluding the anomaly year FY16).
As for numbers for Cleveland/Cleveland Heights, the average resettlement there was about 75 per month during that anomaly year of FY16 and at this moment Cleveland/Cleveland Heights is getting an average of 60 per month—clearly not so far off the FY16 banner year. Chwalek was rehired because the numbers are not that drastically lower and paying “clients” are still coming in, but they don’t want reporters like this guy Ganzer to know that! The story line they are selling is that Trump is bad and the agencies need money (so please give!).
(There are several resettlement contractors in addition to US Together vying for paying “clients” in Ohio so some of those going to Cleveland are clients of other federal contracting agencies.)
For new readers, in 2013, I alerted Ohioans that the big push was on to diversify Cleveland by seeding it with ‘clients’ of federal contracting agencies like US Together and its parent organization the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.
