Idaho update: City council meets again, citizen reports little girl afraid to go outside

This is the latest news from Twin Falls, Idaho about the case where three migrant boys from Sudan and Iraq are accused of sexually assaulting a 5 year old girl in their apartment complex.  Officials admit the boys have likely been in the US for less than two years, but say they do not know if the boys are UN/US State Department refugees, or whether they just drifted in to the US and made their way to rural Idaho.  I’m being cynical of course.
There is no ‘line’ to get into America from places like the Sudan and Iraq.  There are pretty much only two ways—either illegally as illegal aliens who crossed our borders or overstayed visas, or as resettled refugees.  Which is it?  I assure you that the US State Department, federal contractor US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), and Jan Reeves*** (Idaho state refugee coordinator) know who these people are and exactly where they came from.

Twin-Falls-Mayor-Shawn-Barigar
Twin Falls mayor Democrat Shawn Barigar is angry that Twin Falls has been the subject of discussion on the world wide web by people who don’t share his values. (Which values?)

They could be what the federal government calls “secondary migrants”—refugees resettled in another city or state and who then move on their own to another location (often in search of jobs or better government services/welfare).
In recent years the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (in HHS) has been tracking secondary migrants (as best as they can), so they know who these people are.  The College of Southern Idaho (the subcontractor operating under the USCRI umbrella in Twin Falls) says they were not resettled in Twin Falls, but by now they know where they came from—Boise maybe?
Whoever resettled them and to which city they were initially placed is known by Reeves and Barbara Day in Washington.  If they are not REFUGEES then Ms. Day needs to make a public statement to clarify that information (and, I will apologize for calling the boys refugees if they are not!).

Silence means that Washington is hiding something.

I’m digressing.  Here is the latest (or at least the latest as of yesterday!) from Twin Falls.  Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily tells us this:

The 5-year-old Idaho girl who was sexually assaulted by migrant boys from Sudan and Iraq has become a “prisoner in her own house” since the crime was allegedly committed more than three weeks ago, says a close friend of the family.

That’s because one suspect’s family who was evicted from the apartment complex has still not moved out.

The families of the three boys involved – two from Sudan ages 10 and 14 and a third from Iraq age 7 – were all evicted from the Fawnbrook Apartments in Twin Falls last week following publicity about the sexual assault, which occurred June 2 in a laundry room at the complex. The Sudanese families immediately left the complex but the Iraqis still reside there, right next door to the victim.

Do not miss the two video clips from the most recent city council meeting embedded in this story.  Watch the mayor of Twin Falls tell residents to stop being emotional and then Julie Ruf, a citizen who has doggedly pressed elected officials on the case, calmly explain to the mayor and council that citizens should get emotional about a little girl being violated and now kept prisoner in her own home because one of the alleged perpetrators is still her neighbor.
And, by the way, US Attorney Wendy Olson has walked back her previous comments that demonstrated her political bias and appeared to threaten free speech rights. Hohmann has reported on her latest missive.  (Consider this! If Hillary is elected you will see Olson keep her job, if Trump is President in 2017, he will hopefully be cleaning house at the Justice Department!).
Update:  More on Olson’s attempt to extricate herself from the controversy, here.
If you are new here today, click here, for previous posts on the case and Twin Falls generally.
*** For inquisitive reporters, there is one person who knows whether the alleged abusers from Sudan and Iraq are refugees resettled in Idaho or elsewhere (and who might have moved to Idaho) and that is Jan Reeves.  Reeves likely knows where the evicted families are now living as well.  Reeves is an Obama-designated “Champion of Change” and, as the state refugee coordinator, has been calling the shots on who goes to Idaho for 25 years.  (In Idaho, a Wilson-Fish state, the state government has no say in how the program is run, Reeves runs it.)

Salt Lake City: Violent Somali teen shot by police

Update March 2: No surprise! Protesters come out in rage against police, here.
Update March 1: Mohamed was resettled in Utah by Catholic agency, here.
You watch, this will turn into another story about overzealous police.  There will be no mention of the refugee resettlement program bringing Somalis and other Muslim refugees to colonize Utah and no mention of the huge problem with many refugees not assimilating.  Or, maybe they are assimilating—-to American black gang violence.

Utah shooting
17-year-old Abdi Mohamed (a Somali refugee) was shot when he wouldn’t put down his “metal object” weapon

Here is the news.  Wish I had the energy to tell you more about what is happening in Utah where, although the Mormon Church doesn’t directly resettle refugees, they encourage their Catholic brethren to do so.
From Fox 13 Salt Lake City (hat tip: Utah reader):

SALT LAKE CITY — The day after an officer-involved shooting sparked unrest on the streets of Salt Lake City, the police department has issued an official statement on the incident and family members say they’ve learned the teen has awoken from a coma.

Family of 17-year-old Abdi Mohamed tell FOX 13 News detectives have told them the teen is now awake and speaking in a hospital room Sunday evening, but they have not yet been able to see him. He was reportedly in a coma after being shot three times by police.

According to a press release from the Salt Lake City Police Department issued Sunday afternoon, officers witnessed two males with metal objects attacking a male victim around 8 p.m. in the area of 300 South Rio Grande Street.

The release states, “Officers confronted the two suspects and ordered them to drop the weapons. One of the males complied and dropped the weapon, the other continued to advance on the victim and was shot by officers.”

[….]

The teen was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and Sunday his family identified him as 17-year-old Abdi Mohamed. Mohamed reportedly lived in West Valley City with his girlfriend and their son. He reportedly moved to the U.S. from Kenya about 10 years ago.  [Gee, so who pays for the care of the girlfriend and the son—I’ll wager you do, the taxpayers of Utah and America!—ed]

We get a large number of our Somali refugees from Kenya.  Note that in the line above the police weren’t willing to identify the ‘man’ but his family did.  Then this is no surprise:

The press release from police states that immediately after the shooting, a crowd gathered and became hostile, with some people throwing rocks or bottles at police. Officers asked the crowd to disperse to allow police and medical personnel to respond to the scene, but many in the crowd did not comply.

Kuwait’s Gruesome Gift to Britain: Hajji Wannabe, with Four Wives, Murdered One While Koran Played

Editor:  This is a guest post from our intrepid crime investigator ‘Pungentpeppers.’

Update February 5th:  More here.

Kuwait’s Gruesome Gift to Britain: Hajji Wannabe, with Four Wives, Murdered One While Koran Played

It isn’t just in London where the Brits have a problem with Islamic cultural ways.

Thahi Harroba Manaa, 37, a refugee from Kuwait, is on trial in Sheffield, England, for the gruesome murder of his second wife, Sara Al Shourefi, 28, the mother of four of his children. During the 105-minute attack – that started over a disagreement about about a wooden shelf – Manaa inflicted 270 bodily injuries on Sara with a variety of weapons including two metal bars, a knife, and an electric drill which he used to puncture her brain through her eye socket.

The murderer may have also tried to cut off her head: Sara’s neck had been cut across with the knife. Perhaps the knife was too small or its blade too dull to finish the beheading.

Two of their children were in a separate area of the house – and must have heard their mother being tortured to death. Also present was the murderer’s mother. She did nothing to stop the attack, nor did she telephone for help during Sara’s terrible ordeal.

The Koran Played Loudly While Sara Was Being Murdered; Killer Interrupted His Torture to Plan a Hajj to Mecca

During the nearly two-hour long torture of Sara, neighbors reported they heard angry shouting and the Koran playing at full blast. Evidently, Manaa fully expected his wife would die at his hands: an estimated 17 minutes into the attack, he called his travel agent to follow up on prior arrangements to travel to Mecca for the Hajj. He told the agent he wanted his papers made ready that same day. Then he resumed the deadly torture that lasted well over an additional hour.

Once poor Sara suffered through her last and final breath, Manaa called the travel agent again to verify that his travel document was finished and waiting for him. He also telephoned his sister to arrange for childcare.

Manaa then summoned his nephew by telephone and asked his help to put Sara’s body in a cupboard under the stairs. The nephew, in horror, fled the house and rang a friend who notified police.

Does Four Wives a Refugee Make?

What brought the murderer to Britain? Manaa, while he was still living in Kuwait, may have seen in Britain an answer to financial problems stemming from supporting several wives and a growing family. His first wife was one of Sara’s cousins. She failed to become pregnant, so he married Sara in 2004. When Sara did not become pregnant immediately, he married a third wife named Kholoud. Sara and Kholoud both became pregnant. Later, he married his fourth wife, Nadia. The stress of polygamous family life may have prompted him to take drastic action.

In this quiet neighborhood, residents heard high-pitched screams despite attempts to muffle them. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/01/14/24B1F9BE00000578-2910285-image-a-2_1421260063880.jpg

By 2010, around the time Sara gave birth to her third child, Manaa moved to Britain and obtained permission to stay. Sara arrived in the U.K. the following year, and gave birth to her fourth child. [It is not clear what happened to wives Nadia and Kholoud, or the first wife, or the other offspring.] Presumably, the immigrant family became entitled to British taxpayer-paid benefits, thus relieving financial stress on the man with multiple wives.

Britons must be wondering why their government allows people who practice harmful foreign customs, such as polygamy, to enter their country. The answer lies in the magic word “refugee”.

Manaa came to Britain from Kuwait where he had been living as a “Bidun” – a stateless person.*** Not to be confused with nomadic Bedouin, the “Bidun” (also “Bidoon” or “Bidoun”) reside in Middle Eastern countries without the benefit of citizenship. “Bidun” means “without”; it is shorthand for “without citizenship”. Often Bidun families have lived in countries for generations, but because their illiterate ancestors failed to register when citizenship rolls were taken decades ago, these descendants are denied citizen status. Perhaps eventually DNA testing could establish lineage and rights to citizenship. Meanwhile, some of the “Bidun” take advantage of their unusual situation to apply for refugee status in Western countries where – like this Kuwaiti – they can cause trouble and mayhem.

Isolated, Knowing No English, Without Family, Sara’s Situation Was Dire

Manaa has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies murder. The spin of his defense is that he suffers from diminished mental capacity that drives his extreme jealousy, paranoia, and abusive behavior. While she was alive, Manaa did not allow Sara to have a telephone, leave the house on her own, or to learn English. Completely isolated in Britain, she was only permitted to contact her sister in the U.K. or her family living abroad, through her mother-in-law – the same woman who refused to summon help while she was being brutally murdered.

Now Sheffield is gripped by the murder case. Will the mother of the murderer face charges? Can one blame certain religious practices? Why did no one do anything about the ongoing abuse in that house? Was the crime the result of the wrong kind of immigration? The trial continues.

*** Editor’s note: The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has, in the last year, really been pushing this notion of “statelessness” and demanding that countries resettle those with that label.  It will be one of the reasons for moving many Rohingya Muslims from Burma/Bangladesh around the world.

Sudanese refugee, with long record of run-ins with the law, murdered in Portland, Maine

His former lawyer anguishes over belief that the system fails refugee children.  This may be the first Portland murder this year, but it sure isn’t the first crime involving refugees in Maine in recent years.  A quick look at our archives (five minutes!) and I see several cases we reported on of crimes involving youthful refugees in Maine.

The “system” has had plenty of opportunities to learn from run-ins with refugees and crime.  Surely you lawyers aren’t proposing special treatment for them?

Now to the latest, the murder of a Sudanese refugee in Portland.  From Central Maine  (hat tip: ‘Pungentpeppers’ crime researcher extraordinaire):

It’s America’s fault…

Richard Lobor’s family fled Sudan when he was a boy to escape the violence of civil war and the threat of execution.

But instead of finding safety in America, Lobor was shot in the head last month in the doorway of a Portland apartment, becoming the city’s only homicide victim this year.

Lobor, who was 23, was the oldest of the family’s six children and had been expected, in accordance with Sudanese tradition, to become the head of the family soon. Now his parents, Robert Lobor and Christina Marring, are asking themselves as they grieve how things went so wrong in a country they thought would lead their children to prosperity and a better future.

You can read the long discussion yourself of Lobor’s run-ins with the legal system.  Then this from his former attorney Gina Yamartino.  Honor the refugee experience she says.

The system failed him!

Although she ultimately relented and allowed him to be prosecuted as an adult, after Lobor insisted to her that’s what he wanted, she said she still feels “like the system failed him.”

“I don’t think we fully understand – and how could we? – what his experiences were before he got here. I truly believe he suffered from a fair bit of trauma, and coming here wasn’t going to fix it all,” Yamartino said. “I think we have to think long and hard about kids coming from different countries and understand what their experiences were and honor those experiences as best we can.”

Yamartino said that although Lobor’s criminal record looks bad on paper, that doesn’t tell the story of who he was.

SYSTEM INEXPERIENCED WITH REFUGEES!  (Not!)

Thibeault [Christine Thibeault, the head of the juvenile division of the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office] said those who work in juvenile justice in Maine are experienced in how to deal with childhood trauma from abuse and neglect, but have little background in treating trauma of refugee children.

Guess they better get to work then because more are coming to Maine every day.

VDARE: Ethiopian refugee allegedly brutally murdered 97-year old military vet last month

You can read the whole dreadful story by Nicholas Stix at VDARE, here (Hat tip: Ed).  This is the opening paragraph:

Mugshot of murder suspect Ngor Makuey

War On Whites? As the United Nations, the Main Stream Media, and the President of the United States all demand Americans award “refugee” status to tens of thousands of illegals, let’s remember the brutal murder of Rupert “Andy” Anderson, an American veteran allegedly killed by an Ethiopian “refugee” just this month. Ngor Makuey, who has been arrested for the murder of the 97 year-old man and the attempted murder of his 94 year old wife, is an immigrant allowed into this country because of his family’s flight from violence. He used this kindness as an opportunity to bring slaughter to once-peaceful towns.

Read it all.

One more refugee crime case where in addition to the pain and suffering he caused, not only did we pay for his resettlement, but taxpayers will pay for his trial and incarceration for life.  I think the cost of criminal trials of refugees and the cost of their time in prison should come out of the US State Department’s budget and out of the contractors’ hides.  Of course it is still all your tax money, but at least it might cause the resettlement industry to be more careful about who they bring to your towns and cities.
